SOFTWARE The TI-5000JX has three categories of software ; Feedback Alignment Software, Memory Test Software, and Memory Programming Software.

FEEDBACK ALIGNMENT SOFTWARE FEATURES
Feedback Alignment is the first category of software available with checkout. HARDWARE ADAPTER MODULES Modern feedback devices use a wide variety of electrical and mechanical interfaces. Voltage levels and signal types also cover a wide range. The test equipment electrical interface is designed to accommodate the most common signal types and mechanical connections. To accommodate the less common types of electrical interfaces, hardware modules are employed to adapt the feedback device to the tester. Often in conjunction with a test cable, it will also adapt unusual mechanical interfaces. In general, the same modules are usable with each tester product.

Most repair shops and maintenance groups need to focus their time and resources on keeping their equipment running rather than researching cable pin assignments, locating vendors, and assembling test cables. Tester Products TI-5000JX The TI-5000JX is the universal tester for the motor repair shop. It enables the servo technician to test feedback devices, check feedback alignment, and set feedback alignment. The TI-5000JX uses your PC as the operator interface, and provides a large screen full of important information. The TI-5000JX includes the WinTI5000JX PC interface software, RS232 and USB cables, wall mount power supply, and manual. TI-3000JX The TI-3000JX Run Test System gives repair shops one system on which they can run permanent magnet brushless servo motors with a wide variety of feedback devices. This reduces the need to purchase a large number of manufacturer specific drives in order to test run servo motors after repair. The TI-3000JXS is a bundled package which includes the TI-3000JX, the smaller AMC B25A20 amplifier (drive), potentiometer and test cables, wall mount power supply, and manual. The TI-3000JXL is a bundled package which includes the TI-3000JX, the larger AMC B40A40 amplifier (drive), potentiometer and test cables, wall mount power supply, and manual.
TI-5260-PSP The TI-5260-PSP is an organizational tool that reduces error while documenting and aligning servomotor feedbacks. The universal 4 pin power connector and 3position toggle switches for UVW make sure you don’t mix up your power leads and make costly mistakes. It includes the TI-5260 rotor lock switch and an Instek PSP2010 DC power supply.

Encoder alignment is critical to proper servomotor commutation. A servomotor and encoder can work fine independently but will not work on you customer’s drive if the encoder is misaligned. Encoder Memory Read and Programming Support Many modern motor configurations do not specify a standard alignment angle for the encoders they use. Instead the alignment information is stored in the encoder memory. Use the TI-5000JX memory-read licenses to discover the memory alignment and also provide wider test coverage of the encoder. Tester Hardware Accessories HARDWARE ADAPTER MODULE DESCRIPTION Modules are hardware interfaces that can adapt the testers to feedback devices that are electrically nonstandard in some way. These modules allow your tester to be upgraded to various feedback devices in an electrical or hardware sense in the same way that it is upgradeable with licensing. This modularity allows your original tester investment to grow as your requirements grow and not become immediately obsolete with each new requirement. Modules normally connect to the feedback inputs of the testers. The feedback device then plugs into the module. The photo below shows a Yaskawa C-channel encoder interfaced to a TI-5000JX tester using the TI-5103 Yaskawa Hardware Adapter Module.

TI-5101 The TI-5101 1Vp-p Hardware Adapter Module interfaces 1Vp-p sine wave encoder signals to the tester products. It also allows for reading of the commutation angle generated by Heidenhain ERN1387 C&D channels used on Siemens motors. The low level 1Vp-p signals are amplified by a gain of 3.8V using differential amplifiers which help reduce noise problems during a run test.
TI-5103 The TI-5103 Yaskawa Hardware Adapter Module decodes the U, V, and W commutation signals and the Z index reference pulse from the C/C* channels of Yaskawa C-channel encoders. It also provides power cycling for testing the update count for Yaskawa 12 and 15 bit ABS encoders using the TI-5000Y_ALN software module.
TI-5104 The TI-5104 +8VDC Hardware Adapter with 1Vp-p Amplifier Module provides 8VDC power to Indramat Digital, Stegmann Hiperface, and other types of encoders which require a voltage higher than the standard 5VDC (and for which 8 VDC will suffice). It also amplifies the 1Vp-p A and B channel signals by a gain of 3.8V using differential amplifiers. This helps reduce noise problems during a run test.
TI-5105 The TI-5105 ±15VDC with Tach Input Hardware Adapter Module provides a convenient interface for Hall Effect commutation, DC tachometer, and incremental encoder position feedback. Commonly used with Indramat MAC motors and the TI-5042 cable. Also supported with other manufactures such as the Bosch SD/SE series motors using the TI-5719 test cable. The module will display the DC tach voltage on the TI-3000JX screen if running from the Generic Pulse selection.
TI-5260-PSP The TI-5260-PSP Permanent Magnet Servomotor Rotor Lockup System provides an easy and accurate method of applying a lockup voltage to a permanent magnet brushless motor. The phase switches are wired and labeled to allow application of a positive voltage, negative voltage, or no voltage to each phase. This makes it very simple to apply virtually any polarity line-to-line or line-to-neutral lockup voltage.

Typically these encoders produce a 1V p-p differential signal on the A, B and Z channels (if a Z exists). The differential amplifiers amplify this signal up to nearly 4 V p-p differential signals biased up to about 2.5 VDC. The amplified signal appears on the channel true line and a 2.5 VDC bias signal appears on the channel complement line. These levels are more compatible with the 5 V logic inputs of the testers. The low level 1 V p-p signals are susceptible to noise pickup. Large motors running on the TI-3000JX may pick up enough drive noise that they do not run correctly. The differential amplifiers in this module tend to cancel out the common mode noise on the true and complement lines so that the motors run smoothly. The C and D commutation channels on some of these encoders produce a sine and cosine wave that goes through one period in one complete revolution. In that respect they are like a decoded single speed resolver signal. They can produce absolute position information on power up until the encoder count is indexed.
The TI-5101 itself does not require special software, but some of the encoders such as the Heidenhain Endat will require a software module. Please request a TI-5101 product sheet for more detailed information.

GENERAL The TI-5105 Encoder/Hall/Tach hardware adapter Module is designed to support feedback systems using Hall effect commutation and DC tachometer feedback signals with electronics powered by ± 15 VDC supply voltages. Indramat MAC motors are easily interfaced with this module when used with the TI-5042 cable. Indramat MAC feedback can be tested in the following ways: •

The ± 15 VDC power supply provides that power required by the MAC Hall effect and tachometer feedback. The Hall effect feedback signals are directed to the J2 pins 7, 8, and 9 inputs where they can be used for commutation on the TI-3000JX. On the TI-5000JX, these same signals can be used for feedback alignment. An oscilloscope or digital voltmeter may be connected to the tachometer signals to verify correct voltage levels and polarities at specific RPM check points (a scope is recommended since it will show up as gaps in the tach signal). The TI-3000JX will display the tach voltage while the motor runs. For MAC motors that include incremental encoders, the encoder is powered by the 5 V power supply and the encoder A, B, and Z channels are passed through to the tester. If the TI-3000JX is used, these incremental signals may be passed on through to the TI-5000JX for Continuous Count Test, Phase Angle Test, etc.
The TI-5105 module is used with the TI-3000JX Generic Pulse selection and with the TI-5000JX Generic Incremental Encoder selection. The TI-3000JX will display the Indramat MAC tach voltage while running the motor as a Generic Pulse motor. GENERAL The TI-5260-PSP Permanent Magnet Servomotor Rotor Lockup System provides a simple and accurate method of applying the correct lockup current to the correct set of windings of a permanent magnet brushless motor. Rotor locking is the method to determine forward armature direction and to measure and set the alignment angle on a PM brushless motor. The phase switches are wired and labeled to allow application of a positive polarity, negative polarity, or open circuit to each phase. You can apply any polarity to create any line to line or line to neutral lockup. Labeled switches make the connection much simpler and quicker for the servo technician but also improve safety and reliability. Incorrect connections are a common cause of incorrect feedback alignment during servo motor repair.

EASY TO USE Connect the red wire to the positive terminal and the white wire to the negative terminal of the included lockup power supply. Connect the motor phases to the U V and W connections of the quick change terminal block. Since this is the same terminal block pin arrangement used with TI-3000JX, technicians will save time and reduce the risk of incorrect connection during either the alignment or test running of the motor. Once connections are made, the lockup power supply current can be adjusted to supply appropriate current to the windings. You can also easily jog the motor through all possible lockups in a systematic manner by following the pattern on the TI-5260-PSP overlay legend for diagnostic or reporting purposes. Good repair techniques require consistent procedures, and the TI-5260-PSP will help technicians produce consistent lockup data every time.
Feedback and Power Cables GENERAL All feedback cables are approximatel y 5 feet long, and all power cables ar e approximately 3 feet long. The motor end of the cable is equipped with a connector that mates with the motor feedback and power. It is important to make sure that the cable in use is correct for both the motor and feedback device. For instance, the same kind of encoder used on two different manufacturers’ motors will seldom use the same cable. Likewise, the same manufacturer’s motors may require different feedback cables depending on the feedback device in use. The tester end of the cable will normally be some combination of 14, 12, and/or 7 contact terminal blocks depending on the type of Hall effect, encoder, or resolver feedback that the motor employs. In addition, there may be loose conductors, typically used as battery or reset lines, which are tied back on the cable for quick access. The tester is not concerned directly with these lines but they are made available for performing reset procedures, testing serial encoder battery reporting bits, etc. The following table describes the general format for naming cables.
