COVENANT NAVY IN BATTLEFLEET GOTHIC The Covenant Navy is the branch of the Covenant military responsible solely for space operations. Its roles include ship-to-ship combat, orbital bombardment, the deployment of fighters and bombers and the method of delivery for the Covenant Army. At its best, it fielded thousands of warships, most being able to carry fighters, dropships, ground troops and vehicles. Each fleet is led by a Zealot-class Sangheili, though the title of the fleet commander varies depending on the size and extension of the fleet itself. A large, permanent fleet is commanded by a Supreme Commander, whereas a smaller, temporary task force is led by a lesser Fleet Master. A fleet's highestranking individuals convene in a group known as Council of Masters. In some cases, a Minor Prophet is attached to a fleet as a representative of the High Council. Many known fleets seem to consist of around one hundred starships of all types and variations, and are led by a prominent flagship, which is often a supercarrier or a similarly large and powerful vessel. Capital ships, such as CCS-class battlecruisers and assault carriers, as well as numerous frigates and destroyers that serve as escorts and ensign ships to them. Fleets are sustained by agricultural support ships which are attached to them, providing food and supplies to the other ships in the fleet.
Throughout the majority of the Covenant Civil War or commonly known as the "Great Schism," (as referred to by the Covenant Separatists) the Covenant Military was violently splintered between those loyal to Covenant, who continued to believe in the Prophet's wisdom and the separatists, who followed the Arbiter against them. As the battle raged, the High Prophet of Truth formally transferred command of the Covenant Navy to the Jiralhanae, a position once exclusively held by the Sangheili.

Covenant Navy Special Rules
Seraphs: Seraphs are a common sight in Covenant fleets, supporting Banshees in ground assaults and assaulting enemy ships with their plasma charges. Even though plasma charges are weak in comparison to normal ordnance, Seraphs attack in large numbers at once to overwhelm the enemy in a barrage of blue fire. Seraphs count as bombers.
Plasma Turrets: Covenant use large, heavy turrets for ship to ship combat much more often than the larger Energy Projectors or Plasma Torpedoes. Plasma Turrets count as weapons batteries in all respects. Energy Projector: Covenant ships are often able to focus a tight beam of plasma to perform precise glassing or strafe enemy ships. Energy Projectors count as Lances in all respects. Plasma Torpedoes: Most Covenant ships can generate massive balls of plasma, contained within a magnetic sheath, and hurl them at enemies. The plasma can be guided with signals from its mother ship, and when it hits the target the magnetic sheath collapses, spewing ultra-hot plasma across whatever was hit, melting hulls and overloading shields. Plasma Torpedoes count as normal torpedoes,
Interceptor Banshee: Banshees are versatile vehicles, and can be modified with more powerful weaponry and protection to act as quick and nimble interceptors. On their own they are weak and easily defeated, but in swarms of a dozen or more they are fearsome and capable of doing real damage to the larger bombers and star fighters of other races. Interceptor Banshees count as fighters.
Phantoms: Phantoms are very versatile vehicles, and can be used in space to board enemy ships. Phantoms count as assault boats. Boarding Actions: The Covenant gain +1 to all boarding actions, due to the combat prowess of the Elite Rangers. Teleport Attacks: Covenant may never perform hit and run teleport attacks, as they lack the technology.

CSO-Supercarriers.…………………………………………………………………………………….………….500 Points The CSO-class supercarrier is one of the largest vessels of the Covenant Navy, primarily designed for command and control duties for the fleet, as well as support for occupation forces. Overall, the supercarrier is an extremely large and well-equipped capital ship, easily dwarfing most other Covenant starship classes, even the assault carrier. The vessel looks nearly identical to the CAS-class assault carrier, as it is comprised of several bulbous sections and a hook-like prow. Multiple supercarriers of the Second Fleet of Homogeneous Clarity defended the massive space station of High Charity and one such vessel served as the flagship of the Combined Fleet of Righteous Purpose. During the Fall of Reach, Long Night of Solace, a supercarrier, destroyed the UNSC Grafton and began deploying numerous ground assets to the surface of Reach.

CAS-Class Assault Carrier……………………………………………………………………………….………..328 Points The CAS-class assault carrier is a large capital ship in-service with the Covenant Navy. The CAS is designed for ship-to-ship combat, command and control of fleet operations, as well as fire support for the Army. Assault carriers are much larger than CCS-class battlecruisers and standard DDS-class carriers; they are rarer and more heavily armed than either of them. They are armed with at least two energy projectors, as well as plasma torpedo launchers and pulse lasers. They also possess gravity lifts, used for ferrying supplies, personnel, and vehicles from the ship and to the planet's surface.

DDS-Class Carrier……………………………………………………………………………….…………………...263 Points The DDS-class Carrier is a heavy warship within the Covenant Navy and serves as force deployment and occupation warship. The DDS-class carrier unlike the larger and more powerful assault carrier, is a less frequent but powerful warship within the Covenant Navy. The primary role of the DDS-class carrier is to support fleet actions in space, or as a infantry deployment platform; the DDS-class carrier has three bulbous sections; its swollen center boasts a total of thirteen launch bays on both sides of the ship. It is used for command and control of large numbers of deployment waves of fighters, dropships, and interceptors. For a number of years leading up to the Human-Covenant war the DDSclass carrier served as a support ship in and around the High Charity Defense Fleet. In 2552 a DDS-class carrier being escorted by a pair of enemy frigates and a destroyer, attempted to seize control of the human colony world Sigma Octanus IV. When the destroyer and the two frigates were destroyed by Captain Jacob Keyes the carrier retreated until reinforcements arrived. A short month later multiple DDS-class carriers participated in the invasion of Reach and subsequent destruction of the planet. During the battle of installation 05, the DDS-class carrier Lawgiver assisted the Incorruptible during the battle against the Jiralhanae and the Flood. A DDS-class carrier would also go on assist the Covenant in the Battle of Onyx later that month.

CCS-Class Battlecruiser………………………………………………………………….…………………........160 Points The CCS-class battlecruiser is a capital warship in the Covenant Navy. It is one of several cruiser types used by the Covenant, each of which has a different design, size, and function. The CCS-class battlecruiser is a mid-sized capital ship that is used in both offensive and defensive roles. This type of ship is known for its large personnel and equipment capacity, which makes it ideal for infantry, vehicle, and materiel deployments during ground engagements. The vessel is well known for its offensive capabilities, often participating in ship-to-ship combat and in glassing operations. The CCS-class battlecruiser, while not the largest cruiser in service with the Covenant, is the most prominent of the Covenant's ships and is used in large numbers at the heart of nearly every Covenant invasion force. They are often deployed in three-ship battlegroups. Since the beginning of the Covenant, the battlecruiser has consistently been the hegemony's primary mode of intergalactic transportation. For the centuries leading up to the Human-Covenant War, the CCS was involved in every major event in the Covenant's history, including both peace and conflict. Countless CCS-class battlecruisers were used during the Human-Covenant War in operations ranging from fleet engagements to glassing. They were considered among the most dangerous of Covenant ships and often spearheaded invasions.

Reverence-Class Cruiser………….…………………………………………………….…………………........160 Points The Reverence-class cruiser is a warship classification within the Covenant Navy. This classification fields a vast complement of soldiers and is used as a flagship for small task forces. Although the Reverence-class boasts at least two energy projectors and seven plasma turrets, it is constrained by energy costs. This means it can only fire one energy projector at a time, typically combining its forward-mounted projector with two plasma torpedoes. One of the most famous Reverence-Class Cruisers was the Incorruptible. It was attached and affixed to the Second Fleet of Homogeneous Clarity and was crewed by Sangheili from the Elite Dn'end Legion. When the Great Schism started in November 2552, the Incorruptible was transferred into service within the Covenant Separatist Navy, and managed to defeat Jiralhanae forces who attacked them. The Incorruptible was then sent to the planet Onyx, to capture Forerunner technology. They encountered human resistance, and was later destroyed when the Sentinels opened fire on the fleet.

CRS-Class Light Cruiser…..……….…………………………………………………….…………………........105 Points The CRS-class light cruiser is a capital warship classification within the Covenant Navy. They have been described as resembling "luminous manta rays". Several such vessels were used over Reach during the Covenant's invasion of the planet. One of the famous CRS-Class Light Cruisers was the Unrelenting. The Unrelenting was a Covenant vessel that attacked UNSC forces on the 27th November 2525 near the Damascus Testing Facility at Chi Ceti IV. The Unrelenting launched an attack on the UNSC Commonwealth and was able to severely damage her. The Commonwealth likewise, was able to do enough damage to the Unrelenting for SPARTANs to be able to board it. During combat it was boarded by three SPARTAN-IIs, whom all had infiltrated the ship by slipping in a hole the Commonwealth's MAC had caused. The Unrelenting was destroyed when the three SPARTANs fought their way to the ship's reactor and placed ANVIL-II Air-to-Surface Missiles nearby, detonating them when the SPARTANs were clear of the ship. The crew of the Unrelenting was later accused of having a "lack of faith" by the Prophet of Regret for not repelling the Spartan soldiers and destroying the human ship.
