Abstract: In this Investigatory Project we would like to emphasize the use of cosmetics more over (The PERFUME). Problem: What is wrong with using these modern cosmetics? Does it even harm us, animals, or even nature? What are the explicit effects we are not knowledgeable about? Solution: By this Investigation of what harmful substances they put in cosmetics we can have the right choices of being healthy, staying healthy saving the environment and protecting animals from being tested for allergic reactions. With the choice of a natural – organic based cosmetics and or ( PERFUMES) that are both fresh and more rejuvenating. Purpose:

To impose a clear message to everyone that some product just fools everyone by its packaging and manufacturer not knowing these product have great side effect when taken for a very long period which causes destruction of nature, animals and even death for humans Procedure: Through the experiment we would make two samples: •

First sample perfume is the one with chemicals on it ex (alcohol, vodka, carrier oils > almond, jojoba, apricot kernel. Second sample perfume is plain with distilled water to finish.
Result: As to the equivalent satisfaction of the research, we have high hopes of getting the message clear to all audiences for the great consciousness of the products around us. Conclusion: We therefore conclude that technology is great but we can’t always follow the way through success we must always take note on the past , the seed of everything which is NATURE.

Introduction: This study is about the innovation of modern cosmetology, from early Egyptians using it for rituals, it progressed into a Fashion Trend. The marketing strategies to convey the belief for men and women the High end living.
General objectives

This is to give as much proof to let the audience transform into a well known individual. About the effects of modern day cosmetics (perfumes.) in consideration to both health and nature awareness. To give clearance to all facts and figures .What are harmful substances do they put in cosmetics? And, what are natural ingredients?
Specific objectives Per experiment it gets us close to finding out for ourselves the studies of s ide effects to testify its facts or fallacies.
First experiment: We would spray the popular perfume (bvlgari) on ants to see if they are going to die (January 12, 09) *Purpose: to know why we put alcoholic substances on cosmetics. And if it’s harmful to living things.
Second experiment: Spray on natural home made (perfume) made of distilled water and petals *Purpose: to know the shelf live of non- alcoholic substances. And whether it’s healthier.
Significance of the study: The importance of this research gives us clues on what history has bestowed on us now, to what we didn’t know that these products can actually harm our environment and even cause different reactions to the body causing cancer or death .So we try to investigate on new alternatives on making your own home made perfumes. Or just simply implying to us right consumer knowledge about products in the market.

Scope and Limitations: The coverage of the whole investigatory would consist of the beginning of perfumes. History (the early use of fragrances for ritual celebration to the progression of the use to therapeutic means until the successful intercession into the daily living and fashion. We would see the influence and different faces of the effects in the modern day living considering the use of Perfume and fragrances.
Review of the related Literature Early Use of Perfumes There has always been a trade in scents and by the year 2008 perfume had become a $10 billion industry. Today women have fragrance wardrobes of at least six different perfumes, rather than a single signature perfume, keeping one special perfume for occasion moments. People have used perfume, oils and unguents on their bodies for thousands of years in lesser or greater amounts dependant on fashion whims. The early Egyptians used perfumed balms as part of religious ceremonies and later as part of pre love making preparations. Myrrh and Frankincense were exuded gums from trees used to scent the atmosphere in rituals. Other plants such as rose and peppermint were steeped in oils until a perfumed unguent formed. The unguent was then rubbed into the skin. It's interesting to note that perfume has come full circle today as more and more of us seek out high quality aromatherapy perfumed oils to use in exactly the same way as our ancestors did. Chemical Advances in Perfumery The late 19 th century was the first real era of perfume as we know it when new scents were created because of advances in organic chemistry knowledge. Synthetic perfume products were used in place of certain hard to find or expensive ingredients. What Is Perfume Made From? Perfume is made from about 78% to 95% of specially denatured ethyl alcohol and a remainder of essential oils. Perfume is the costliest form of fragrance with 22% of essential oils. Eau de Perfume (EDP) comes next with between 15 and 22% essential oils. That's followed by Eau de Toilette (EDT) with 8 to 15% oils. The weaker Eau de Cologne has just 4% essential oils. For those who crave super subtlety Eau Fraiche with 1 to 3% essential oils is the lightest dilution of fragrance.

Health and environmental issues Perfume ingredients, regardless of natural or synthetic origins, may all cause health or environmental problems when used or abused in substantial quantities. Although the areas are under active research, much remains to be learned about the effects of fragrance on human health and the environment. Health: Immunological Evidence in peer-reviewed journals shows that some fragrances can cause asthmatic reactions in some individuals, especially those with more severe and/or atopic asthma. Many fragrance ingredients can also cause allergic skin reactions or nausea. In some cases, an excessive use of perfumes may cause allergic reactions of the skin. For instance, acetophenone, ethyl acetate [citation needed] and acetone [citation needed] while present in many perfumes, are also known or potential respiratory allergens. Nevertheless this may be misleading, since the harm presented by many of these chemicals (either natural or synthetic) is dependent on environmental conditions and their concentrations in a perfume. For instance, linalool, which is listed as an irritant, causes skin irritation when it degrades to peroxides, however the use of antioxidants in perfumes or reduction in concentrations can prevent this. Some research on natural aromatics have shown that many contain compounds that cause skin irritation[19], However some studies, such as IFRA's research claim that opoponax is too dangerous to be used in perfumery, still lack scientific consensus . It is also true that sometimes inhalation alone can cause skin irritation. Carcinogenicity There is scientific evidence that some common ingredients, like certain synthetic musk’s, can disrupt the balance of hormones in the human body (endocrine disruption) and even cause cancer (nitro-musk). Some natural aromatics, such as oak moss absolutes, contain allergens and carcinogenic compounds. Environmental: Pollution Synthetic musk’s are pleasant in smell and relatively inexpensive; as such they are often employed in large quantities to cover the unpleasant scent of laundry detergents and many personal cleaning products. Due to their large scale use, several types of synthetic masks have been found in human fat and milk, as well as in the sediments and waters of the Great Lakes .These pollutants may pose additional health and environmental problems when they enter human and animal diets. The demands for aromatic materials like sandalwood, agar wood, musk has led to the endangerment of these species as well as illegal trafficking and harvesting.
Methodology: In our investigatory report we decide to use two popular and widely used perfume this can help us to prove, that perfumes that are easily accessible to people are harmful.

Bvlgari Ingredients: Aqua, propylene glycol , perfume , octyl octanoate , c 12-15 alkyl benzoate , cyclomethicone , octyl palmitate, steareth -21, dimethicone, oryza sativa , glycyrrhetinic acid , phenoxyethenol, steareth-21, methyl paraben, allantoin, propyparaben, triethanolamine, dimethicone copolyol, urea, acrylates/c10-30 alkyl acrylate crosspolymer, sodium dehydrloacetate, lauryl methyl gluceth- 10 hydroxypropyldimonium chloride, disodium edta, ethylparaben,asparagus officinalis, citrus amara, camellia sinens

10 bullet ants

PROCEDURE 1. gather and place the ants in the box 2. then tape the box with packaging tape so that the ants wouldn’t go crawling out, 3. punch at least 6-7 small holes.

4. After securing them. Spray on the perfume once through the small holes. OBSERVE. (To be sure we used two popular brands: BVLGARI and GUCCI)
Result and Discussion a. Findings: In the experiment as ants were trapped inside the box sprayed with perfume they quickly died and was exterminated .This determines such chemicals in the perfume are harmful and so can be related to the chemicals also used in pesticides. so if it is harmful to ants then rather it can be also harmful to humans.
Conclusion: We therefore conclude that these popular perfumes which we trust because we think they have the highest of the high quality doesn’t really work that way . Perfumes and scented products are composed of toxic chemicals like acetone, toluene, ethyl acetate, formaldehyde and ethanol that are found on any list of toxic and hazardous chemicals. All these and other chemicals used in the manufacture of personal care products have been shown in animal studies to cause serious health problems and even death. So in considering this matter we thought that we must encourage our readers to try for themselves there own (home-made perfumes) or the all organic perfumes. That is not only going to satisfy our sense of smell but also going to save all living things and nature.we would like to conclude with a thought borrowed from the Internet: "How arrogant of we humans to think we could improve upon God's fresh air by creating a chemical concoction in a can!"
Recommendation: Since we advice our readers to try on their own home made perfumes , here are some recipes we would like to share:

Recipe: Basic Perfume Recipe - without Alcohol
For this recipe all you need are: Water and chopped flower blossoms. Combine: 2 cups of water (preferably distilled) 2 cup fresh chopped flower blossoms. Good choices include lavender, lilac, orange blossoms or honeysuckle. Day 1: Place cheesecloth over a bowl and fill with your flower blossoms. Pour water over them until they are completely covered. Cover the bowl and let it sit overnight. Day 2: The following day, life up the edges of the cheesecloth and gently squeeze the now scented water into a small pot. Simmer until there is about 1-1/2 teaspoons liquid. Let the liquid cool then pour into a small, dark bottle. since this perfume is made without alcohol, it has a shelf life of approximately 1 month. Recipe: Light Romance
This perfume combines the romantic scent of vanilla with the fresh and tangy fragrance of lemon. Combine: 6 drops of vanilla extract 1/4 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice 1 cup distilled water Mix ingredients together and boil covered for two minutes after it has reached a boil. Place boiled mixture in the fridge for five minutes. Take out and boil the same way again. After 2nd boiling, immediately transfer it into a glass container and put it in the refrigerator for an hour. Finally, transfer into a bottle and you're set to enjoy this fresh and seductive fragrance.
