Heavy duty, high performance slewing or double girder grab cranes provide a highly efficient and flexible solution for installation on barges and transshippers. Safe and precise crane operation is ensured with Liebherr’s own Litronic ® crane control and management system. Specially designed heavy duty hoisting winches, heel trim alarm systems and emergency operation functions make these cranes suitable for loading/unloading bulk cargoes in heavy sea state condition, so ensuring efficient and uninterrupted transshipment of goods on vessels up to Capesize.
Type CBG 300 and Type CBG 350 Two crane sizes in grab operation are available: - CBG 300, 30 tonnes at 28 metres - CBG 350, 35 tonnes at 36 metres or 45 tonnes at 32 metres (maximum jib length) • compact slewing column design and low weight • low centre of gravity due to lower position of main components • dust prevention in the machinery room through dust filters at the pedestal entrance • low maintenance costs Additional optional features: • Extended cabin (7-8m) for optimum visibility and safer operation • Ex-centre platform of up to 10 m for increased outreach allowing access to each hold
5
6
Type MPG Capacity of 45 tonnes at 38 metres in grab operation • allows loading/unloading of Capesize vessels with 45 m breadth from only one side in order to reach the complete hold • reduced crane height and therefore centre of gravity • Liebherr Litronic® Robot Control (LRC) • Dynamic Anti-Collision System (DAC)

Sheltered waters Bulk handling and transshipment in sheltered waters can be performed by a wide range of Liebherr cranes starting with slewing cranes with single rope or motor grabs through to heavy duty high performance slewing or double girder four-rope grab cranes, depending on the individual requirements of the customer. As for cranes performing in open sea, safe and precise crane operation is ensured with Liebherr’s own Litronic® crane control and management system.
Type CBB 350 The CBB wire luffing crane is suitable for multi-purpose and bulk handling on vessels up to Panamax size. Equipped with either a single rope or motor grab these cranes are an economical solution nevertheless providing efficient performance. For operation as floating crane: – CBB 350, 32 tonnes at 32 metres in grab operation 40 tonnes at 32 metres in hook operation • unobstructed view due to improved position of first jib bracket • double beam boom for high rigidity, less corrosion and easy repair • luffing through jib bracket instead of jib head, therefore less maintenance costs, less power consumption and higher luffing speed • very reliable and easily maintained fully hydraulic control system • hoisting and luffing gear of easy to maintain open loop type • slewing gear of closed loop type for independent speed control The CBG and MPG type cranes can also be applied in sheltered waters for loading/ unloading vessels up to Capesize. The features of these cranes as detailed in the section “Open Sea” apply.

LBS – Liebherr Barge Slewing This new floating crane concept, Liebherr Barge Slewing (LBS), is conceived for midstream operation in ports and sheltered waters, on rivers and in coastal waters; for ship to ship as well as ship to shore handling. Based on the Liebherr mobile harbour crane series, the LBS models are precisely tailored to meet individual requirements and manufactured according to a uniform design principle combined with purpose-built barges as customer specific solutions. In its floating crane concept, Liebherr combines state of the art technology and over 40 years of experience in the maritime crane field with the expertise of established barge manufacturers. Ship to ship handling • transshipment and midstream operation between ocean-going vessels and river barges on different types of waterways, including those having no or few quays. Ship to shore handling • direct cargo transfer from ship to shore. Especially when quays reach capacity limits this solution poses an alternative to cost intensive modification of infrastruct ure preventing cargo-handling bottlenecks. In addition LBS cranes can support existing handling equipment providing a flexible response to fast changing requirements in peak times. If the water alongside the quay is too shallow preventing ships of a particular size from landing the LBS is applicable as a stopgap between ship and quay replacing investment in expensive quay walls and deep-draught berths.
