Digital Application Box Tilburg School of Humanities
Dear applicant, We are glad that you have selected one of the Tilburg University’s programs to apply for . Please read this manual with care and follow all the mentioned steps in order to complete your application for the program. It is recommended to visit the website of the program of your interest and read the section Admissions and Application thoroughly in order to understand the procedure and learn about the required application documents. Please bear in mind: Apply only if you have the following required documents: A) A completed application form, dated and undersigned (1 f orm per program you are applying for!) B) An authenticated copy of your (recent) original grade transcript(s) + (a sworn/certified translation into English) C) A copy of your Bachelor's or Master's thesis or an essay completed during your studies (only in English and at least 2000 words) [if you have not yet written a thesis, then read section D] D) A dedicated writing sample as an academic essay or research proposal (only in English and at least 2000 words E) Letter of motivation (1 letter per program you are applying for!) F) Curriculum Vitae G) Photocopy/scan of your currently valid passport Other required documents which you can upload/send later: H) Certified copies of your original final diploma('s) and final grade transcript(s) + (a sworn/certified translation into English) I) Academic IELTS, TOEFL or Cambridge Proficiency Examination certificate (Exemption form, only if applicable) J) Extra letter of motivation (only if you wish to be considered for TUSAE or TSHS) K) Nuffic (formerly NESO) certificate (Chinese applicants only!) L) Proof of Dutch Language Proficiency (only if you wish to apply for a Dutch-taught program) Master’s students who wish to be considered for a scholarship/grant under the Tilburg University Scholarship for Academic Excellence (TUSAE) or Tilburg School of Humanities scholarship (TSHS), need to apply separately for this scholarship before April 1st of each calendar year. The outcome of the scholarship selection process will be announced in May each year. Scholarships provided by Tilburg University are only available for the Fall Intake. Spring Intake students who wish to apply for a scholarship provided by Tilburg University, need to apply before the deadline of April 1st of the year before the start of the program, in other words, students who wish to start in February 2014, should apply before April1st, 2013! After receiving your completed online/offline application package, we will assess your application and inform you about the final decision of the Admissions Committee within six weeks. Online application procedure: Step 1: Before you start/continue with your application at Tilburg University, you need to register through Studielink http://info.studielink.nl/en/studenten/Pages/Default.aspx . Please sign up for the right program. As soon as you have completed your registration through Studielink, you should proceed with Step 2! Step 2: Before you print the application form http://uvtapp.uvt.nl/fsw/spits.nafio.frmIndex, please check whether all details you have filled in are correct. Step 4: Please make sure you print the completed application form and sign it. Step 5: In order to complete your application you need to collect all the required documents and upload a clear scan of each required document in the Digital Application Box (DAB). DAB is an application which provides with the opportunity to create your personal account and upload your application documents into it. Step 6: Within 1 week, you will receive confirmation of the receipt of your documents from the Admissions Officer. Step 7: Read this manual in order to learn about DAB and how to upload your application documents! Step 8: The Admissions Committee will handle applications on an individual basis. They will take 4 weeks to make their decision to assess your application package. Step 9: You will receive a letter of notification, stating the committee’s decision . The notification letter will be sent to you within 1 week after the decision of the Admissions Committee. Step 10: You can either start studying immediately or you will still need to meet additional requirement.

Offline application procedure: Step 1: Before you start/continue with your application at Tilburg University, you need to register through Studielink http://info.studielink.nl/en/studenten/Pages/Default.aspx . Please sign up for the right program. As soon as you have completed your registration through Studielink, you should proceed with Step 2! Step 2: Collect the required documents and complete your application package. Please bear in mind that you send in the application package before the application deadline. Step3: Before you print the application form http://uvtapp.uvt.nl/fsw/spits.nafio.frmIndex, please check whether all details you have filled in are correct. Step 4: Send in your complete application package by post before the application deadline! The application package must be received by the admissions officer before the end of the deadline! Should you decide to send the documents via courier (UPS, TNT, DHL) or any other way, you will need to send it to the following address: Tilburg University Tilburg School of Humanities Board of Examiners Warandelaan 2 5037 AB Tilburg The Netherlands Step 5: Within 1 week, you will receive confirmation of the receipt of your documents from the Admissions Officer. Step 6: The admissions officer will scan and upload all your documents into Digital Application Box. You will receive an email with your account afterwards. What is Digital Application Box (DAB)? DAB is an online application which provides you with the opportunity to upload all the required application documents.
How do you use it? Step 1: By using your internet browser you should first visit the follwoing website: http://www.tilburguniversity.edu/education/mastersprogrammes/admissionprocedure/humanities/digital-application-box/
Step 2: To sign up for DAB, you should first use your application number (provided on your online application form) and E-mail address (same as your online application form) in order to generate a new password for your DAB. By signing up, you will create your personal DAB account.
Step 3: After clicking on ‘Create account’ button, you will see the following message:

Step 6: Fill out your DAB check list and where needed consult the sample files. Please bear in mind, there are two compulsory Formats for ‘Letter of motivation for application’ and ‘Letter of motivation for scholarship’. You will need to use these formats and upload the filled out documents later! Documents marked with a * must be ready, otherwise you will not be able to start your application at all!!!
Step 7: The document you wish to upload must: not exceed a file size of 2 MB per document have a file extension of pdf, png, jpg, doc, or docx be clearly scanned and readable after upload, otherwise they will be rejected have a length of filename which not exceed 50 characters If a document is sent in several parts, please mention that in the "Description" field! (e.g. part 1-3, 2-3, etc.) Filenames must contain the following information: Filename-part1-1applicationnumber (example: Certified diploma-part1-1-114705 ) First you select the document, then you enter the file name in the description field and eventually you select the category to which the document belongs!

Step 8: After uploading the first document you will see a list of the remaining documents which needs to be uploaded. At this stage you are still able to delete the uploaded files!

Step 9: After uploading the required compulsory documents, the button ‘Start the application procedure’ will appear. Please bear in mind: - Once you start your application process, you will no longer be able to adjust the uploaded documents - After starting your application process, you can upload the missing documents or additional ones. - You have the possibility to withdraw your application and remove your account. This action will also remove all your uploaded documents and cannot be undone. Therefore it is recommended to carefully use the ‘withdraw’ button.

Step 10: Once you click the Start button, the admissions officer will receive a message and will check your uploaded documents. The admissions officer will communicate with you whether the uploaded documents have been received properly and the date that the application procedure can be started officially.

Step 12: Please follow the instructions of the admissions officer carefully. Should you have your missing documents ready in the meanwhile, please do upload these as soon as possible before the deadlines. You should make sure if there are any other documents are required which needs to be uploaded. If none of the additional documents are applicable in your case, you may check the box as illustrated below and click on ‘Confirm your final uploads’ button!
