LIFTING Trolley jack - Axle stand
02A
IMPORTANT If a trolley jack is used, appropriate axle stands must always be used.
WARNING - The subframe of this vehicle is protected by products providing a 12-year anti-perforation warranty. - Never use equipment not fitted with rubber pads, to avoid direct metal on metal contact that could attack the original protective material.
1
- The vehicle must not be raised by support points under the front suspension arms or under the rear axle. - To raise a front or rear wheel, use the jack at (1) . 101535
To mount the vehicle on axle stands, the entire vehicle must be lifted on one side and axle stands must be placed under the reinforcements provided for positioning the tool kit jack (1) .

II - FITTING THE STRAPS Equipment required Example of a a vehicle secured at the front
safety belt I - SAFETY ADVICE REMINDER
14893
- For safety reasons, the straps must always be in perfect condition; replace them if they are damaged. 14894
- If it is necessary to remove heavy components from the vehicle, it is preferable to use a four post lift. - On a two post lift, once this type of component has been removed (e.g.: engine and transmission assembly, rear axle, fuel tank, etc.), there is the risk of the vehicle tipping.
- When fitting the straps, check that the protectors (for the seats and fragile parts of the vehicle) are properly positioned. - Thread the straps under the lift arms and loop them back through the vehicle. - Do not overtighten the straps.
- When the vehicle is raised on an underbody two post lift, fit (safety belt) part number 77 11 172 554 available from the Parts Department.

TOWING - LASHING All types
03A
I - FRONT Equipment required diagnostic tool
WARNING - For towing, refer to the current legislation in each country. - Never use the drive shafts as attachment points. - The towing points may only be used for towing on the road. - Never use the towing points for removing the vehicle from a ditch or to lift the vehicle, either directly or indirectly. - Screw in and lock the towing ring before towing. - Vehicles fitted with automatic transmission: • tow the vehicle using a back-plate or by lifting the front wheels. If this is not possible, in exceptional circumstances, the vehicle may be towed at a speed below 12 mph (20 km/h) over a maximum distance of 19 miles (30 km) (lever in N position),
103195
II - REAR
• if the vehicle has a battery failure, the steering column remains locked. In this case, refit a battery or an electrical power source to lock the air bag computer using the (diagnostic tool) ( (see 88C, Airbag and Pretensioners) ), which will unlock the steering column, • If it is not possible to unlock the air bag computer, the front of the vehicle must be lifted.
