Production of Butyl Rubber
Process Process – Butyl Butyl Rubber
The production of Butyl Rubber is performed with a semi continuous copolymerization process of isobutylene and isoprene, diluted in methyl me thyl chloride, at an extremely low temperature (about – 100°C). The low temperatures, required by the process, are achieved by means of an integrated ethylene-propylene chilling system. The catalyst is anhydrous aluminium chloride.
The essential requirements of Butyl Rubber production process are exceptionally pure raw materials, the ability to maintain extremely low temperatures and the removal of any trace of moisture from the reactors.
