YEING AND AND COMPUTER-CONTROLLED D YEING COMPUTERIZED SHADE M ATCHING
Computer color -control systems are now in widespread use in the textile dyeing and printing industries. These systems help dyers to quickly produce the original color formulations. The systems are also capable of monitoring the actual dyeing cycle to assure nearA a perfect color matches. n c The machine uses a spectrophotometer (which is capable of analyzing the color of an ah l input sample) and a computer (which stores in its memory the color characteristics, P r dyestuff inventory, spectral reference graphs etc.) a b The computer software helps the system to take the spectrophotometer reading (in the ah form of a spectral ref. curve) of the sample, mathematically mix the dyes, and output ak r formulas for reproducing the color of the original sample. J a g As a result exact shade as per requirement is produced. g a These computer assisted- color control systems are also helpful for accurate color matching and sorting of shades. With the help of these software’s, spectral curves of two samples can be compared and samples can be matched for colors. Metamerism: When two colors match each other under one light source, but look different from each other in another light source, the condition is known as metamerism. This condition some times occurs in dyed fabrics. (This condition can also be checked using a spectrophotometer/ color matching booth by varying the light source.) 1
