Foreword It is important to distinguish between “inspection” and “vetting”. Inspections of vessels are carried out by accredited inspectors who make factual observations regarding the condition of a ship, certification and documentation, crew management, management, etc. Vetting is the process by which all the i nformation, including inspection reports, is assessed and a decision made regarding the suitability of a ship.
