Hydraulic Pipe Cutter The Hydraulic Pipe Cutter provides a proven and reliable method for severing single or multiple strings of casing. Three heavy-duty cutter arms dressed with crushed carbide are capable of completing a cutout in most weights and grades of casing, conductor pipe and marine riser. The Hydraulic Pipe Cutter is available in a range of sizes for cutting pipe 6 inches to 58 inches in diameter and will complete the operation whether the pipe string is concentric, eccentric, cemented or noncemented. A proprietary knife return system ensures the knives are secured in the retracted position when running in the hole, eliminating the need for banding or wedging. This feature also assists with knife retraction once pumping has stopped. A spring placed under the main piston and the knife return piston facilitates this process following the interruption of hydraulic pressure. The knife return system ensures retraction and retention regardless of wellbore inclination.
The Flo-Tel® Device provides a pressure indication at surface when the knives are opened to their preset diameter, eliminating the risk of pulling the tool before the string has been completely severed. Hydraulic Pipe Cutter
Mechanical Casing Cutter The Mechanical Casing Cutter is designed to quickly convert to alternate inside cutting diameters, increasing flexibility while reducing rig time. The tool, available for casing sizes of 4 ½ inches to 13 ⅜ inches, consists of a friction assembly to assist setting the tool in the pipe, a slip assembly to anchor the tool and a retractable cutting assembly. Frequently no conversion of the tool is needed for cutting different diameters of pipe; at most, only the slips and friction blocks need to be changed. The tool also features an automatic nut, which permits repeated resetting and disengaging of the tool without returning it to the surface.

The Variable Blade Stabilizer ensures smooth and efficient pipe cutting operations, reducing the shock load on cutting knives, arms and the entire fishing string by centralizing the milling equipment in the hole. This tool is designed to stabilize pipe cutters in large bore cutting operations, and its replaceable blades make dressing for different sizes of casing a quick and easy process. Stabilizer blades are readily replaced by removing two locking pins, and are available for casing from 16 inches to 48 inches in diameter.

2M Standard Spear The 2M Standard Spear’s superior torque transmitting characteristics make it ideal for demanding operations, such as releasing mudline suspension systems on jackup rigs. The 2M Spear can also be used for picking up very short pieces of casing in situations where casing is being cut into pieces and recovered. The 2M Series 18 grapple/carrier combination is regarded as the easiest to use and most reliable large spear system on the market. The grapple design allows considerable variation of catch size which increases tolerance to casing wear. The strength of the two-piece tool is limited only by the strength of the API connection joining them,
2M Rotating Spear The 2M Rotating Spear is designed for single-trip recovery of tubulars, such as conductor pipe, marine risers or the cutting and recovery of a section of casing as part of a “re-drill” operation. Using these spears in deep cutting operations typically eliminates the need for two trips. The casing is engaged by the spear prior to cutting, then severed mechanically by a normal pipe cutter and recovered to surface all in one operation. These tools are simple yet reliable, and can save considerable rig time.

The weight of the casing is supported at all times with the rotating spear. The casing cutting tool can operate in a neutral position or with a slight overpull. The spear itself is engaged in the casing, with the weight taken from the grapple through the outer mandrel onto the bearing assembly.

2M Cut and Pull System The 2M Cut and Pull System is a single trip casing cutting system designed to simplify mechanical abandonment operations, eliminating the needs for a marine swivel and long drill collar string. Work string handling time is reduced because only one stand of eight-inch drill collars is required to be run above cutting assembly. Once engaged, the 2M System can be used to retrieve the wellhead and casing section together or just the section of casing. A primary advantage of the 2M Cut and Pull System is the ability to catch wellheads and casing hangers in non-critical areas avoiding seal bores to eliminate re-machining for future service. The system consists of the 2M Rotating Spear, Hydraulic Pipe Cutter and non-rotating stabilizers placed above and below the pipe cutter. The assembly is made up with the appropriate spacing between the cutter and the spear to achieve target cut depth, and is then run into the wellhead. Suitable over-pull is taken to ensure spear engagement, then reduced to a working over-pull to keep the casing in tension during cutting operations. The work string is rotated and pumps engaged to commence cutting the casing. The work string can be removed easily from the wellhead at any time by setting down to close the clutch on the spear, rotating the string one-eighth turn to the right and pulling the assembly free. No over-pull is required.
Shortcut Deepwater Plug and Abandonment System The Shortcut Deepwater Plug and Abandonment System consists of an assembly of products designed to sever a single string of casing, engage it for removal and retrieve the wellhead seal assembly all in one safe operation. The heart of the system is the Shortcut Spear which can be engaged to facilitate the cutting operation near the sever point, then released and reengaged at the top of the casing segment being removed. This enables the recovered casing to be hung in the rotary table while the Shortcut Spear is released and the work string racked out of the way, leaving the casing to be handled safely and efficiently as it is removed from the wellbore.
A collet-type catcher is available for a full range of subsea wellheads, which under normal operating conditions, can recover wellheads and associated casing hangers undamaged by the abandonment process. The 2M Cut and Pull System is ideal for deepwater operations because weight does not have to be slacked off onto a marine swivel, reducing the bowing effect in the work string. The risk of fatigue failure is also minimized because the string stays straighter eliminating rotating bending fatigue. Hydraulic Pipe Cutter
Shortcut System components work together to efficiently cut and recover casing. The spear engages and places the casing in tension while the mud motor and Hydraulic Casing Cutter sever the pipe at a predetermined depth. A Bumper Jar is run above the spear and the Hydra-Stroke Bumper Sub is run below when impact or jarring is required to free a section of casing.

The latest addition to the fleet is the Deepwater Skid Unit, consisting of a power pack and wireline unit. The Deepwater Skid can be shipped as a two- or three-piece package, which can be helpful in situations where limited lifting conditions exist. This unit contains 35,000 feet of eline with a temperature rating of 500 degrees F. The Deepwater Skid is specifically designed to run in hostile environments. Pilot Mills are suitable for milling sections of tubular junk and can be used as dressing mills for installation of a casing patch. They are excellent for milling liner hangers and other downhole tools with a through-bore.
Junk shots are an effective way to clear wellbore obstructions by firing a steel or plastic “bullet” through the tubular at high velocity, breaking the target into small fragments. This technique has proven successful for removing ball and flapper valves, bridge plugs and other obstructions, and it is particularly well suited for use with the wireline-run drill collar cutter. For large-scale decommissioning projects, care must be taken in selecting the cutting techniques to be used. Sequential cutting can create unpredictable motion, structural torsion or even prematurely collapse the structure, with disastrous consequences to personnel and equipment. Using remotely-initiated explosive charges, multiple, simultaneous or delayed cutting can be performed, which has been proven in the field to be a safe and reliable alternative to more equipment-intensive cutting techniques. The Barracuda Junk Mill combines the durability of junk-type mills with sophisticated tungsten carbide technology for flat-bottom mill resilience and tubular milling performance all in one tool.
7 Inches and Smaller Barracuda Mills in this size range have a round body dressed with wear-resistant tungsten carbide, stabilizing the mill inside the casing. The Barracuda Mill utilizes Millmaster® carbide inserts, which provide maximum footage and high rates of penetration. The continuous chip breaker design generates steel cuttings that can easily be circulated out of the hole with a minimum of specialized mud conditioning required.
These mills are ideal for milling internally or externally plugged tubular fish, and have yielded runs of up to 180 feet of tubing per mill (milling 180 feet of 4 ½ inch, 12.6 lb/ft tubing).
9 ⅝ Inches and Larger The 9 ⅝ inch and larger Barracuda Mills use welded blade stabilizer pads to ensure the mill tracks straight down the casing stub. The blades are dressed with Millmaster carbide insert technology, yielding the highest possible performance. These larger diameter mills are best suited to high RPM with moderate weight-on-bit, and in ideal conditions are capable of milling long sections of casing.
