Purpose: Jumper cables are connected to the antenna connectors in the front panel of the RF Module (FXxx) and the other end of the jumper cables are carefully connected to the respective feeder cables. The number of cables used depends on the configuration. While connecting the antenna jumper cables, consider the following guidelines: ☞ Connect the antenna cables starting from the module closest to the plinth. ☞ It is recommended to the start connecting the jumper cable from ANT (Tx/Rx) connector closest to the direction of routing. For example, in stack installations, – If you are routing all jumper cables to the right, then the order to be followed isANT 1, ANT 3, ANT5, ANT 2, ANT 4 and ANT 6. – If you are routing all jumper cables to the left, then the order to be followed is ANT 5, ANT 3, ANT1, ANT 6, ANT 4 and ANT 2. – If you are routing 3 jumpers cable to the left and right, the order to be followed is ANT 1, ANT 2 and ANT 3 to the right and ANT 4, ANT 5 and ANT 6 to the left of the RF Module. ☞ Antenna jumper cables can be routed out the left side, right side, or both sides. However, access to the optical and internal power cables during maintenance and expansion is easier when all antenna jumper cables are routed to the right. ☞ To avoid cabling rework, check that the unit powers on before tying down the cables. Follow these guidelines when selecting antenna jumper cables: • 1/2" or 3/8" jumper cables are permitted • One end of the jumper cable must be right angle male for connection to modules (other end depends on site configuration) • 1/2" feeder cable can be connected directly to the modules if a right angle male connectoris used. The maximum allowed feeder cable is 1/2" with right angle connectors. • The length should be determined based on the Flexi Multiradio BTS installation option (for example pole, wall, cabinet, 3rd party cabinet) and the distance of the BTS from the antenna feeder line. • Antenna jumper cables must be rated IP65.

Purpose Module back and front covers complete IP65 protection for core modules. Back and front covers are required for safety reasons, in all installations including indoor installations. Note: •The front panels of the modules are hot during operation. If Flexi Multiradio BTS modules are not installed in a cabinet, front covers must be used during operation for safety reasons and should only be removed temporarily for maintenance. •Rotating fan blades can cause personal injury. If Flexi Multiradio BTS modules are not installed in a cabinet, back covers must be used during operation for safety reasons and should only be removed temporarily for maintenance. Before start: ☞ When there is no risk of dropping the covers, safety catches are not needed. ☞ To avoid cabling rework, check that the unit powers on before tying down the cables.

The installation of the optical cable between the System Module and RF Module or Remote Radio Head requires two small form-factor pluggable (SFP) optical transceiver units (included in the RF Module delivery) that are plugged into both the System and RF Module or Remote Radio Head. A multimode adapter (included in the 100 m optical cable delivery) is required when two optical cables are connected together. Optical cables are used for creating an optical interface between the System and RF Module or Remote Radio Head. The length of the cables is 50 m or 100 m. In case you need a cable of a specific length, shorten the cable by cutting and splicing it to the required length.

Installing Flexi System External Alarm (FSEB) Overview • The optional Flexi System External Alarm Module (FSEB) is used when up to 24 external alarm inputs and 6 control outputs need to be supported with Flexi Multiradio BTS. • The FSEB can be installed in the following ways: – On a wall (vertical or horizontal position) – On a module casing in pole, wall, or stack installations using Flexi Mounting Auxiliary Brackets (FMAA).
– In the FCIA or FCOA roof (horizontal position only) – In Citytalk cabinets, the FSEB can be installed on top of the stack (depending on working space) or outside of the cabinet. The box cannot be installed on the roof.
• The module also supports Flexi Cabinet Fire Detector (FCDA). • If there is not enough space left for the FSEB or other auxiliary boxes on the FCIA, FCOA, or the FMAA, the additional auxiliary box(es) must be installed on a wall or pole close to the BTS. • In stack, wall or pole installations, additional FMAA brackets can also be installed if there are multiple plinths. Note that the distance from each box to the BTS is limited by the lengths of the cables coming from the auxiliary box.

Installing Flexi Power DC/DC Module 24V (FPDA) Overview • The FPDA is an isolated 2U-high DC/DC Power Module that converts nominal 24 V DC input voltage to 48 V DC nominal output voltage and 2 kW power.
• When the BTS power load is more than 2 kW, multiple FPDAs can be installed in parallel.
• When FPDAs are used in parallel, a maximum of two DC cables can be installed together at each output terminal. This limitation is due to: • The output current from the FPDA where all three are combined would exceed the safety limits for the thickness of the DC cables provided in the delivery. • The safety rubber boots provided in the delivery can accommodate up to two DC cables per terminal. • The DC output terminal bolt length can accommodate up to two DC cables per terminal

These lugs are not included in the delivery and must be sourced locally. •When FPDAs are installed in parallel and a power failure occurs in a DC line, the input voltage to the System module will likely drop below the acceptable level. If an FPDA is overloaded with power, then the unit will shut itself down. •In the example in Figure FPDA provisioning for configurations with three FPDAs and two system modules (sample 1), the power draw from the System module to the single FPDA cannot exceed 2kW.

Installing Flexi Power Rectifier (FPRA) Principles for installing FPRx in Flexi Multiradio BTS configurations (1/2) • The FPRx can be installed anywhere in a stack or cabinet provided that the 2 m (6.6 in.) alarm cable can be connected between the FPRx and System Module (System Module).
• In indoor cabinet (FCIA) installations, the recommended location for FPRx is: • without batteries at the top of the cabinet, near the cabinet roof. • with batteries near the bottom of the cabinet, in the next available rack space above the batteries.
• In outdoor cabinet (FCOA) installations, the recommended location for FPRx is: • without batteries: – If batteries are not used, only the FPRB or FPRC can be used in FCOA – If the System Module (ESMB/C) is in the top vertical rack, install the FPRB/FPRC module on the lower vertical rack
– If the System Module is in the horizontal rack, install the module in the top vertical rack.
• with batteries: – Site Support Module (FCSA) is installed inside the FCOA cabinet For internal use only 173 © Nokia Siemens Networks

Installing Flexi Power Rectifier (FPRA) Principles for installing FPRx in Flexi Multiradio BTS configurations (2/2)
• In Stack installations, the recommended location for FPRx is: • In outdoor only the FPRC module can be used because of WDR requirements. Flexi front and back covers must be used.
• For indoor any FPRx can be used. • Location is the bottom of the stack. • This allows for easier future expansion because the top sector can be expanded without the Upgrade RF Cable Kit (EUCA).
• In wall and pole installations, the recommended location for FPRx is: • Only the FPRC is used in wall and pole installations. Flexi front and back covers must be used.
• The recommended location is either on the same plinth as the System Module or on an adjacent plinth

Cabling principles in stack, wall, and pole installation (1/2) • Cables are routed along the sides of the modules. Excess cabling should be tied •
• • •
to clamps. In stack installations, cables are routed out both the left and right cable entries.. • All cables except the optical cables can be routed in either direction as long as they do not violate the bending diameter or block access to other used connectors. • The optical cable must always be routed to the left. It is also recommended to route the internal power cable in the same path as the optical cable for each module. • Antenna jumper cables can be routed out the left side, right side, or both sides. However, access to the optical and internal power cables during maintenance and expansion is easier when all antenna jumper cables are routed to the right. Internal cable entries are not typically used with Flexi Multiradio BTS. When preparing the external cable entries, cut a slit in the cable entry for routing the cables. In wall and pole installation, cables should be routed through the bottom cable entry whenever possible.

Optional cable tunnels in stack, wall, and pole installation • The optional cable tunnels can be used to hide excess cabling on the side of stack or pole configurations. Cable tunnels are not required for weather protection. • Follow the below listed principles for the cable tunnels to fit properly: • Route the external cables on the right side of the BTS, and tie all cabling in between the top and bottom square holes on the support plates. • Route the internal cables on the left side of the BTS, and tie all side cabling as follows, using the square holes on the support plates as guides: • For vertical routing, tie the cables in between the beginning of the front hole and beginning of the rear hole. • For horizontal routing, tie the cables in between the top and bottom square holes. • Do not route internal cables through the back. • Remove the ears from cable entries before installation For internal use only 188 © Nokia Siemens Networks

Internal power cabling principles for System Module (ESMB/C) • The following main principles for internal power cabling apply to RF Module (FXxx). • For stack and cabinet configurations, RF Modules can be numbered 1 to 4 from bottom to top. The power connection ports used on the System Module (ESMB/C) should match the RF Modules numbering. • In wall configurations, numbering can be from 1 to 4 from bottom to top, with the lower number for each plinth corresponding to the RF Module closest to the wall (the RF Module connected directly to the plinth). • In pole configurations, the RF Module closest to the System Module should correspond with port 1 for PWR on the System Module. • Numbering applies to optical cables and any numbering order can be followed. • Also, it is recommended that optical and power cable numbering should match for each RF Module, when the RF Module is powered by the System Module.

• Flexi Multiradio BTS is a multiradio BTS, which means that multiple radio technologies can be used concurrently. • The 3-branch RF Module supports GSM/EDGE and WCDMA simultaneously. • The System Modules are separate for GSM/EDGE and for WCDMA. • The GSM/EDGE System Module (ESMB/C) supports up to 18 or 36 TRX capacity, that is, two 3branch RF Module capacity, and it has power and OPT connections for four radios (or radio chains) or System Modules. • In the concurrent mode, the RF Modules as well as the antenna lines can be shared between the System Modules and different radio technologies. • The System Modules have to be interconnected in concurrent operation. • The Flexi Multiradio BTS is seen as a separate logical network element for different radio technologies with common radio resources. • In concurrent mode either ESMB/C or FSMx can be the synchronization master of Flexi Multiradio BTS while the other is the slave. • The operator can define the synchronization master while commissioning the BTS.

Flexi Multiradio BTS GSM/EDGE Installation
Antenna Line Antenna jumper cable requirements Antenna jumper cable requirements: • 1/2" or 3/8" antenna jumper cables can be used. 1/2" antenna cable connectors can be connected directly to the module if a right angle connector is used. • The length should be determined based on the Flexi Multiradio BTS GSM/EDGE installation option (for example pole, wall, cabinet, 3rd party cabinet) and the distance of the BTS from the antenna feeder line. • Antenna jumper cables must be IP54-rated or better.

Basically, Jumper cables are low–loss and flexible, which allows easier connection to units such as the WCDMA MHA unit without causing unnecessary stress to the connected units (vs. feeder cables).
