SUPPLEMENTARY SERVICE INFORMATION (DISASSEMBLY & ASSEMBLY... Page 2 of 2 1. Enter service code "1b". The following information will be displayed: the name of the model, type of engine and type of control levers. "1b 25 CH" is an example. 25 - This number indicates 325B. C - This letter indicates a Caterpillar engine. H - This letter indicates the type of hydraulic control levers. Note: When "H" is being displayed in the second position from the right, the display will indicate a "MHI mode" type of engine.
Enter service code "1A". The fine control mode switch (25) is pressed in order to move the number that is flashing to the second position from the left. The boom priority mode switch (23) is pushed until a flashing "A" appears. The position of the speed dial is shown by the third number from the left. The three numbers from the left will show the engine rpm that is multiplied by 10. Move the speed dial to the different positions in order to read the target rpm for that speed position. This function is used to verify that the setting of the engine speed at each position of the engine speed dial corresponds to the factory settings of the engine speed. For the proper engine RPM, refer to the chart.

Turn the nut (2) and the locknut of the accelerator cable (1) in the counterclockwise direction until the nuts are separated. 2. Insert the threaded "L" end of the accelerator cable (1) through the hole in the lever (5). Install the nut in order to hold the cable in position. 3. Insert the other threaded portion of the accelerator cable (1) into the notch of the support (3) . 4. Turn the lever (5) in the counterclockwise direction to the position of high idle. 5. Hold the lever (5) against the position of high idle stop. Then, turn the nut (2) clockwise until the slack is removed from the bellows (4). The nut (2) should be tightened for approximately two turns more. 6. Tighten the locknut against the support (3) . 7. Ensure that the nut (2) remains in position while the locknut is tightened against the support (3) . 8. Reinstall the two clamps to the accelerator cable (1). Do not allow the cable (1) to twist. Note: Ensure that the governor lever is in contact with the high idle stop. Also, ensure that the nut (2) is correctly tightened in order to ensure that the accel erator cable has the correct tension. The setting of the engine speed or an overload condition of the governor actuator could result if the cable is not tightened correctly. Note: When the current governor is being used, the following conditions will be applicable:
a. When the accelerator cable (1) is disconnected from the governor lever and the engine speed dial is in a position rather than 10, the initial calibration procedure is required. b. No initial setting is required, if the accelerator cable (1) is disconnected from the governor lever and the engine speed dial is positioned at 10. However, the initial setting is required, when electricity is sent to the governor actuator.

Hold the lever (5) against the high idle stop and turn the nut (7) clockwise until the slack is removed from the bellows (4). The nut (7) should be loosened for two turns more. 9. Tighten the locknut (11) against the support (3). Ensure that the nut (7) remains in position while the nut (7) is tightened against the support (3) . Note: Ensure that the governor lever is in contact with the high idle stop. Also, ensure that the nut (8) is correctly tightened in order to ensure that the accel erator cable (2) has the correct tension. The setting of the engine speed and an overload of the governor actuator could result, if the cable is not correctly tightened. Note: When the current governor actuator is being used the following conditions are applicable:
a. The initial setting should always be performed when the governor actuator is being supplied with power. Note: If the current governor, that is being used, is a governor from spare parts, then do not send electricity to the governor. The initial setting of the governor should always be performed because the governor may have received electricity.
Calibration Of The Governor Actuator Note: For more information, see the topic Testing And Adjusting, "Governor Actuator".
1. Start the engine. Perform the calibration procedure for the governor actuator. 2. Clear the error log, after the calibration procedure has been correctly performed. Note: For more information, see Testing And Adjusting, "Error Log".

This procedure must be performed when any of the following components have been replaced or the components are reinstalled: The governor actuator, the accelerator cable and the controller. The temperature of the hydraulic oil must be at approximately 50 °C (122 °F). 1. Enter service code 70. The character display shows the following example: "70 P00". This means "before calibration". 2. Depress the travel alarm cancel switch (22). The character display shows the following example: 7001This means "governor actuator is moving to the initial position". 3. When the character display shows the following example, the governor actuator has completed a movement to an initial position: "70 PSP". 4. At this condition, install the accelerator cable properly, if the cable is not installed. 5. Start the engine. 6. Depress the travel alarm cancel switch (22) again. The calibration for the governor actuator will start. During the calibration, the character display displays the following codes: Table 1 Calibration Codes For The Governor Actuator Calibration Codes

11. Perform the following operations when the character display shows "70 Hd 00". a. Depress the fine control mode switch and hold the fine control mode switch (25) until the character display stops blinking. b. Depress the boom priority mode switch (23) or the swing priority mode switch (24) in order to select the data that is used as the calibration data. c. Depress the boom priority mode switch (23) in order to select the previous calibration data. d. Depress the swing priority mode switch in order to select the default calibration data. e. Depress the travel alarm cancel switch (22) in order to memorize the calibration data that has been selected. 12. When the calibration is completed, the character display may flash "70End". Then, a number will be displayed. The cable end for the governor actuator is too loose by 6 full turns, if a set of numbers that is similar to "70 06" is displayed. The numbers on the right side indicate the total number of turns. The display numbers in each position can b e from 1 through 0. The cable end of the governor actuator is too tight by 6 full turns, if a set of numbers that is similar to "70 - 06" appears in the fourth position from the left with a minus sign. Again, the numbers on the right side indicate the total number of turns. The four numbers on the right side will indicate the actual engine spe ed, if a set of numbers that are similar to "70 20 13" appear in the third set. This code means that the engine speed is below the correct specifications for the high idle speed of the engine.
