Introduction The 177-2330 Battery Analyzer will quickly test any 6 or 12 Volt battery with a: 50 to 4000 Cold Cranking Amp (CCA), 65 to 5000 Cranking Amp (CA), or 6 to 500 Amp Hour (A-Hr) capacity. The test can be completed in just 20 seconds and determines whether the battery is good, bad, or in need of recharge. The analyzer even works on batteries discharged down to one Volt.

Safety
Operating Instruction Connecting the Analyzer Before the analyzer is connected, make sure the battery cables and terminals are clean. Clean all dirty and/or corroded parts with a wire brush, if necessary.
Always stand back from a battery during testing. Automotive batteries contain sulfuric acid and can produce explosive gases that may result in serious injury. To prevent ignition of gases, keep lighted tobacco, sparks, flames, and other ignition sources away from the battery at all times.
1. Clamp the black load lead to the negative (–) battery terminal on the vehicle. 2. Clamp the red load lead to the positive (+) battery terminal on the vehicle.
Do not test a frozen battery, it may explode. Allow the battery to warm up before attempting any testing.
3. Wiggle the clamps back and forth to ensure a good connection is made on both sides of each clamp.
Do not spray liquids on the battery analyzer. Liquids may enter the analyzer and cause permanent damage to the electrical components. Flammable liquids may cause an explosion.
Test Procedure Before testing a battery, turn the ignition, all accessories, and loads OFF. Close the vehicle doors. Allow the battery to stabilize for one minute, then begin the battery test. If the battery was recently recharged, allow three minutes for the battery to stabilize before beginning a battery test.
Wear an American National Standards Institute (ANSI) approved eye shield when testing batteries. Provide ventilation and have water available for eye or body flushing should any battery acid splash on you.
1. If the battery temperature is less than 0°C (32°F ), press the MODE key to select the “Cold Battery Test”. If the battery is frozen, allow it to warm up above 0°C (32°F ) before testing.
NOTICE Do not remove the test leads while the battery test is running. This could cause damage to the analyzer.
Do not test a frozen battery, it may explode. Allow the battery to warm up above 0°C (32°F ) before attempting any testing.
