read them and the case at hand it gave me a better understanding of what Kathleen Code of Ethics were as a Medical Assistant.
2. What external forces impact Kathleen’s concerns in this case? Kathleen is affected by this because her father is a patient of Dr. Obrien. She has viewed all the files and notice that the doctors’ track record was not in good standing doing prostate surgery. Kathleen father is someone special to her and she feels that is important for him to get a second opinion about the surgery, she doesn’t want to lose her father.
3.
What are the legal issues need to consider regarding this case? The Legality of the case is that Dr. O’Brien could lose his license and the Clinic could be sued. It already stated that the chief of staff, Dr. Williams needed to review the records because of the patient death following surgery. Kathleen could lose her job and be black balled out the medical field.
4. Discuss the case form both Kathleen and Kaylee’s point of view. What would you do if you were in either of their positions? Looking at from Kathleen view, I would have done the same thing without breaching any information about other patients. I would have told my father in a more private setting. Kaylee on the other is also correct because she doing her duty as a nurse and that is to uphold the Code of Ethics. If I were in Kaylee’s position I would wait until have work hrs and discuss the matter with Kathleen and let her know that I understand what her father is going through and tell her I respect what you did. I also would tell her that this is a warning and if this happens again there will be consequences.
