Baseband Resources Definition of the CE Channel Element (CE) indicates the processing capacity by measuring the baseband resources resources occupied by services. services. • One UL CE ref refers ers to the the baseb baseban and d resou resourc rces es used used by by 12.2 12.2 kbit/ kbit/ss voice voice services (SF = 64) and 3.4 kbit/s signaling. • One DL CE ref refers ers to the the baseb baseban and d resou resourc rces es used used by by 12.2 12.2 kbit/ kbit/ss voice voice services (SF = 128) and 3.4 kbit/s signaling.

HSUPA
Uplink Resource Consumption of HSUPA Services The channels for HSUPA services are dedicated channels, and the resources consumption is measured in CE. After HSUPA is introduced, all of the UL CE resources are shared by R99 and HSUPA services. The following table lists the UL CE resources consumption principle of HSUPA services.

If the SRB signaling is carried on the R99-DCH, an extra CE is consumed. Thus, one CE should be added to the CE number in the preceding table. From RAN10.0, Huawei NodeB supports the SRB over HSUPA feature. This feature is optional. If this feature is purchased, no extra CE is consumed for the SRB.
Downlink Resource Consumption of HSDPA Services The processing capacity of HSDPA is calculated by HSDPA codes instead of the CE number. One SF16 code resource consumed by HSDPA user is defined as one HSDPA code. On the baseband unit of the 3900 series base station, the resources for HSDPA services and the resources for R99 services are independent of each other. Therefore, the HSDPA services do not consume the R99 CE resources on the downlink. The processing capacity of the WBBPb4 is R99 384 CEs+HSDPA 90 HS-DSCH codes, as shown in the following figure.
Downlink Signaling Resource Consumption of HSDPA Each HSDPA or R99 user has one associated signaling. When the RRC connection is established, the SRB is set up to transfer the signaling between the UE and the UTRAN. For an R99 user, the signaling and the R99 services together occupy one DCH. Thus, you only need to calculate the CEs consumed by the R99 service. The signaling does not consume CEs independently. 2013-05-03

For an HSDPA user without R99 services, the signaling independently occupied one DCH, and one CE is consumed. The consumed CE belongs to the R99 DL CE resources. For an HSDPA user with R99 services, the signaling and the R99 services together occupy one DCH. Thus, you only need to calculate the CEs consumed by the R99 services. The signaling does not consume CEs independently. From RAN10.0, Huawei NodeB supports the SRB over HSDPA feature. This feature is optional. If this feature is purchased, no extra CE is consumed for the SRB.
