CLASSIFICATION Hospitals can be classified in many ways: 1. According to their objectives: Teaching Hospital, Non-teaching Hospital, Charitable Hospital etc. 2. According to the type of patients treated: Childrens Hospital, Womens Hospital, Geriatric Hospital etc. 3. According to the ownership and control: Government Hospital, Private Hospital etc.

Non-profit oriented Hospitals
Hospitals registered under Registration Act 1860- Voluntary Hospitals, such hospitals may offer Free/subsidized services Hospitals registered under Trust Act, 1882 Charitable Hospitals. They offer free/subsidized services. No member of the Trust is entitled to any profit/remuneration. Hospitals managed by Cooperative Societies: they are quite common in Maharashtra

administered by the GOI viz., hospitals run by the railways, Military/Defense, Mining/P & T or public sector undertaking of the central govt. b) State Govt.: All hospitals administered by the State/UT of State Govt. including police, jail and canal depts. c) Local Bodies: administered by municipal corpn., municipality, Zilla Parishad, Panchayat
