Chapter i! of
"od#s $etective http://www.scribd.com/doc/%&'()(*)/"od-s-$etective
+n + Corinthians chapter &% the Apostle Paul lists various spiritual gifts. +n verse &, he speas of discerning of spirits. 0he Apostle 1ohn states2 Beloved2 do not believe every spirit but test the spirits to see if they are of "od2 since many false prophets have gone out into the world. 3& 1ohn *:&4 Firstly I will explain what this gift of discerning spirits is not and then what it is. The gift of discerning of spirits Is not called ‘discerning of demons’ for a reason 5ultitudes seem to thin that there is a gift that it is unfortunate to have as it results in you seeing demons everywhere. 0his is baced up by
many who claim to do this among Pentecostals in their various denominations and sects. 6ou will notice in the above verse that testing of spirits was connected with identifying false prophets. 0hat is what + am doing in this boo. All "od#s gifts are good to have and are not burdensome or oppressive. 0hey do not disconnect people from reality but have the opposite effect. 0he gift of discerning spirits is a wor of the Holy pirit and it is an ama7ing and wonderful gift to have. Here is an e!ample of a deluded person#s behaviour2 one who claimed to have h ave the gift of discerning spirits. + sat down to lunch with a Christian friend and their guest. 0he guest who + will call 8elson was supposed to have been baptised in the pirit and could see demons. He informed us that there were demons in the room. 8elson then opened a window so they could leave and commanded them to go in 1esus# 8ame. However2 he noticed one was still hiding under the salad bowl so he piced up the bowl and shouted at the demon to leave.... As ridiculous as his behaviour may seem it was 9uite orthodo! for his 1esus ;nly< church = a Pentecostal sub group. >verything he did was related to their teaching. ?or e!ample he needed to open the window as they regarded demons as somehow bound by physical obstacles. He needed to shout as they believed demons could not hear thoughts and had to now also you meant what you said. Also shouting was seen as spiritual authority as when men are convicted of something deeply they often raise their voices... voices... +t was however2 pure lunacy. + do not not use that word as an insult. 0his ind of religion r eligion does drive some people mad and gives others mental problems. Unreality the hallmark of deception + implied above that false spirits manifesting through false gifts give
their users a false sense of reality@ r eality@ that they tend to lead people into unreality and delusion: ?antasy rather than fact. eligious hyperactivity and e!tremism based upon e!otic beliefs and the sensational claims of their leaders etcetera. +t is a ind of caricature of the spiritual realm and its deep reality of spirits as a realisable and often felt or seen array of phenomena. 0here is a sense among them that since they believe in these things in distinction to the maority of Christians who do not@ that they are frontline warriors involved in a great spiritual warfare and enlightened and e9uipped by the Holy pirit where others are sleeping in spiritual stupor. 0hey import in the flesh nowledge that can only come by the pirit. 0hey grasp the rudiments of the problem of spiritual conflict and mae simplistic rules baced b aced up with simplistic assumptions. ;ther believers regard these types of Christians as spiritual and close to "od. 0hey would not dream that this class of beliefs and believers constitute an attac upon the ingdom of "od2 but they do2 they do. 0o use a simple analogy: +f "od has given a piritual ose to his people that stands alone in a field they are liely l iely to find it. +f however that field is filled with millions of plastic roses soaed in cheap perfume finding the real one becomes impossible to most and they would even give up the effort to loo - ;ften settling for a false one in its stead. 6ou can see then how "od
purer2 stronger and deeper than any other. 0hey are hallmared by a sense of grounding in the real world@ by fact rather than fantasy and by demonstrated belief rather than theory. 0heir reason r eason and intelligence are heightened by the Holy pirit and their udgement is both sound and wise. +n their very presence others feel this sense of reality as opposed to the sense of bluff and bluster common among Pentecostals. 0hat is they sense and feel the reality of Christ made all the more real by the power of the Holy pirit. uch believers are inevitably persecuted by Pentecostals and their il. +f the genuine saints iss a baby they will be vilified as paedophiles@ if they shae the hand of a 5uslim they will be scorned as supporters of terrorism and if they spea of demons they will be put down for devil worshippersF All this is true and the few holy ones really now it. +t was Christ
emember then 1onathan2 this very simple fact that among those who are full of hot wind and false2 sensational claims there is a sense of unreality and fantasy but among those close to Christ there is a deepened sense of reality. Above everything spiritual reality is needed in the real fight against atan
accuse B of having a demon... +f believed this is very effective as they thin it was the Holy pirit who #told# them. The gift of discerning of spirits is not defined !s confined in a little box All gifts from "od are aspects of the grace of Christ and His power . 0hese gifts are of course specific spiritual abilities but they are also wide in scope and have more than one or two specific uses. "hat the gift of discernment of spirits is Having2 hopefully2 removed the obstacle of false teaching2 used by atan to divert people from the truth2 let us now consider those truths he has attempted to obliterate through his teachings. The gifts of #od bleed into one another All piritual gifts are distinct but not completely separate. 0hey are lie faces of a diamond. 0hey bleed into one another by the Blood of Christ. +f for e!ample the Gord had set the average life span s pan at &,2,,, years it would inevitably occur that a person who had one gift would end up with all. piritual discernment or wisdom regarding spiritual matters is not the same as discerning actual and literal spirits. 6et2 those who can discern actual spirits have greater spiritual discernment or wisdom. piritual discernment is sound udgement but discerning spirits is i s the ability to detect actual spirits2 their character and effects. 0hese are some of the attributes of the gift:
$rimarily the gift of discernment of spirits Is to %see% the agency presence and nature of the &oly Spirit 5ore than anything else "od wants us to discern Him = His pirit. Before a person with the gift of discerning of spirits begins to identify the
forces of evil2 as they do2 they will see the positive side of their gift. +t brings them closer to the Holy pirit and they will see s ee His hand at wor where others are unaware. p until now + have been speaing of 1esus and this is because the Holy pirit glorifies 1esus Christ. 0he woring of spiritual gifts however2 as you have read2 is the wor of the Holy pirit. The gift of discerning of spirits Is to see what is contrary to the &oly Spirit As all gifts are of the Holy pirit their very use will use the pirit#s power. 0he light of the Holy pirit reveals the darness of atan = not the other way around . 'iscerning spirits contrary to the Spirit of #od +t is a fact that false teaching2 false prophets2 and false supernatural e!periences are engineered by evil spirits. 0herefore the gift is used to discern the spirit behind2 within2 inspiring2 empowering etc. what is false. De saw in 1ohn#s word that prophets were discerned as false by the discerning of the spirits that animated them... +t is so with everything. The gift is to discern the spiritual realm + said that gifts bleed into one another and it is not unusual for the person with the gift we are studying to also have spiritual dreams2 sound teaching2 words of wisdom = of course2 and to be generally more spiritually aware than others. 0his is for the benefit of others not for themselves. +t is very important to understand that a person with this gift will inevitably see into the spiritual realm. 0hat is the nature of the gift. 0hat is where spirits are2 and not all spirits are demons. +t is not ust the Holy pirit and His enemies but also Angels and saints that people with this gift discern. 6ou may understand this better as + describe how the gift operates.
The operation of the gift of discerning of spirits +t is primary to understand that it is the Holy pirit Dho initiates2 and then leads in the use of His gifts. 0he gift is not a wide open door that never shuts. +t is often2 and usually the case2 that the gift operates by revelation. ome e!amples follow: Fallen angels in church +n attending churches of various inds2 as the Gord led me to do2 He would often open up the spiritual realm so + could see what spirits were at wor. ;ne of the things things + saw time and again2 again2 although it is grievous grievous for me to say2 were fallen angels that would stand ust behind the preacher or evangelist and see to influence them. 0his does not mean that these preachers were evil but rather that most preachers are not resistant to such influences and are continually tempted. +n cults and such the co-operation with fallen angels is heart-willing2 if unnowing. +n more mainline churches it varies depending upon the state of heart of the ministers. uch a spiritual state as this revealed r evealed is of course abysmal. + am sure this teaching would be reected by most2 if they were aware of it. However the spiritual state of churches has fallen so low that no revival or reformation is enough to sort it out2 unless "od wors in power the world has not yet seenF Christians should see the Gord and those pure in heart should gather together and start afresh with the Bible as their guide2 or pastors should try to lead their flocs to renewal2 to the living Daters. 'iscerning of hearts Had it occurred to you that each human has their human spirit - their inner selfE +t is obvious to those with the gift that human hearts can be discerned. 0his happens in two ways. 0he gifted may discern the leanings2
inclinations and basic character of a person or they may literally sense s ense and discern their spirit. 0he latter only happens with those advanced in the gift... Dhen + meet people2 and if + tae the trouble to thin- of of them2 + feel and now what they are really about. Dherever + have had the opportunity to confirm what + have sensed s ensed + have had &,,I accuracy. ometimes this gift is very revealing but the Holy pirit assures the privacy of those we see. 0oday + literally used this gift. + met a new teacher at my child#s school. ;n the surface she was friendly and warm but + remember some horrible teachers + had that were friendly and warm to my parents. After sensing her heart however2 + new that "od had given her a gentle heart and she would present no problem to my child in the future. Also there was an element of sensing the future... Jpdate: ince then that teacher has moved on and she was no problem but had remained r emained a positive influence for her whole time at the school.K ;n other occasions however2 + have sensed people#s sins. 0his is good as it has meant + could protect my child from the man with paedophile inclinations or steer clear of the habitual liar etcetera. +f there is a burden to the gift it is this: + see people as they are and not as they want to be seen. +t can sometimes be very sicening. 5uch of this may be seemingly irrelevant to the reader but if + have deep spiritual awareness given by "od it is on behalf of His children and there will always be an effective and positive grace for them.
'iscerning demons ?inally we get to itF 6es of course this gift is designed by "od as a great weapon against demons. By the e!ercise of this gift you become strong.
+t must be so or how will w ill you growE +t is about standing firm on criptural principals. $iscerning demons sometimes means seeing demons. +t can be scary. De learn to fear "od and not to be intimidated by atan. +t is metaphorically2 lie a bloody battlefield strewn with corpses of good men. +n the midst you stand2 scarred2 sometimes weary2 but ever vigilant and ever mighty in the 8ame2 Amen. 'emons in (hristians Christian counsellors sometimes need to counsel Christians Chr istians regarding demons that are oppressing them or to some e!tent controlling controlling JpossessingK them. 6ou will see a lot of this fight to free captives from demons2 often #religious demons# such as false tongue speaing demonsin missionaries2 counsellors and others who see the reality of the spiritual warfare around us. However2 Christians need to pic pic their counsellors wisely. Spirit of (hrist )ersus !ntichrist + am not advocating what + observe but reporting it. +n terms of the struggle of emerging Christians from churches2 lie butterflies emerging from their cocoons2 there is a movement of Christians away from churches and from the spirit of Antichrist. Hopefully this will lead to a latter gathering together of saints... +t is not necessary or even advisable for believers to leave their churches if their churches see the Gord to be revived2 reformed and remade in His +mage... +n the mean time you will probably see in coming years fragmentation2 disintegration and union of churches. 5uch of this will be a sifting wor of "od and some udgement2 but also the devil will be gathering his disciples who go by the name #Christian# in preparation for building his own peculiar brand of religion for the Antichrist himself. "od of course wants one Church united in Biblical truth and filled with His pirit.
"!*+I+# +f you have felt oppressed or frightened in what you have read so far do not read any further in this chapter. Also pray before reading and leave off reading if it is too much for you. 8ot everyone is given grace to deal with such things as + am about to reveal. r eveal. The appearance of demons, 'ouble meaning is intended. I will describe some ways in which demons make their appearance as well as how they look. "enerally demons do not appear e!cept to saints who have uncovered the reality of the spiritual realm@ and so their cover being blown their attacs become more open to that believer@ yet they will secretly insinuate insinuate to others that such believers are cra7y. !ppearances of demons, It is usually the case that demons take upon themsel)es grotes-ue forms. They appear hideously e)il and exude the )ery essence of e)il. ;ften the appearance of demons is striingly similar to creatures you may see in supernatural themed movies or read of in horror stories. 0his is because the movies have been inspired by follore that was inspired by actual events2 long ago untraceable. econdly demons inspire much of what passes for human creativity. The appearance of snakes and other creatures such as cats and spiders, $emons often loo for bodies to inhabit and will sometimes enter the bodies of animals. Dhen those animals die the demons retain the appearance of the creature they were in. 0his is because there is a spiritual law that the spirit will conform to the body. Historically there have been wi7ards2 shamans and witches of various inds that have had familiar spirits. +n >uropean legend we are all familiar with the witch#s familiar blac blac cat@ a demon possessed cat2 or a raven r aven etc. Dhen these
animals die the evil spirits remain to be spies for atan. 0hese spies report bac to the more powerful spirits. ;n the outside the spiritual realm seems mystifying and weird but in truth it is well designed and planned@ full of stratagems and orders of powers and legions of demons under the control of higher spirits@ that are themselves under the power of fallen angels whose chief is Gucifer that once was - atan. Spies are are one of the most common forms of demons and therefore one of the most common appearances of demons is in the shape of animals and insects. #igantism, $emons do increase their si7e so as to be more intimidating. A poor child not so long ago spoe of seeing a giant spider above her bed in a great web that filled the ceiling. Dhy should + believe such a thing especially from a childE Dithout her nowing or the subect even being hinted at2 + had seen several large demon spiders in webs in the same house. 0wo others had also seen #disappearing# spiders of unusual si7e there without each one nowing of the other#s e!perience... ?ortunately after prayer this season of o f demonic oppression ceased. !lthough truly frightening especially to a child these represent the lesser demons of limited power. 'emons as e)il looking people, +t is often the case that demons appear as men and women with gruesome and malevolent features. 0hese inds of demons are those that have possessed humans. +t is normally these inds of demons that are cast out of the possessed. uch demons also wor as spirit guides to occultists of various hues and they operate in the guise of the Holy pirit to deceived #believers# in cultist groups.
+n regards to the above two types of demons you will notice that in the story of the demon possessed man and the "ergesene swine the demons
left the man to go into the swine...
35atthew ':%'-L*4
Sometimes ghosts are really such demons but not always. #host phenomena can relate to other things I will w ill not go into here.
atan wors almost e!clusively through these inds of demons when dealing with his servants and with others who are deceived. +n the spiritual realm however there are many inds of spirits. onster demons, 0hese are those that tae the appearance of fearsome2 half human creatures. 0hey may have fangs2 long claws2 scaly sin etc. 0heir purpose is to appear as frightening as possible to intimidate those who see them. ;ften the real appearance of the evil spirit is not the one they reveal to the viewer. 0he more powerful demons can change shape and appear as one thing or another as it suits sui ts their schemes. +ntimidation is a principal they use against the servant of "od to frighten them away from spiritual warfare . 'ead relati)es famous people and spirit helpers, 0hese of course relate to the deceptions that demons use to get practitioners of various belief systems to invite them into their lives and homes. 0hey give guidance2 comforting messages2 often vague and super-spiritual teaching2 prophecies etc. uch demons also inhabit Christendom posing as saints2 angels and the Gord Himself. 0his does not mean that all believers down the ages that have seen saints2 angels or the Gord have been deceived. + have already pointed p ointed out the discerning of spirits includes all spirits 2 good and evil.
0o go further into this subect + would need to tal about fallen angels but it is not suitable for such a boo as this. ?ew of you will ever come up up against a fallen fallen angel. 6et2 if you do: do: ...He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world. 3& 1ohn *:*4
Some thoughts on spiritual discernment 6ou may have noticed that + have said some things you are unfamiliar with and that are different to what you have read in Christian boos. 0his is because + now what + am taling about and speaing from e!perience rather than from conecture@ or worse still from a consensus of e!perts that now nothing of their subectF ome of the things that + have heard preached2 read or seen on Christian< 0M are ludicrous2 without rational basis2 unreliable in the e!treme and centred in sensationalism rather than in the edification of the saints. 0his seems to be a ploy of atan so that the world will easily ridicule r idicule everything to do with spiritual warfare. 5ost boos on spiritual warfare are written by people who base their teachings on the boos of others. 0hese authors gather momentum and copy each other
+ actually listened to an international evangelist who said that after many years of preaching on spiritual warfare he saw a demon. 0his e!pert on fighting demons had seen one. 0his would be rather lie having a healing ministry and after many years healing one person. 0o preach on any subect is good and well but to claim to be an authority called in a particular area2 as the evangelist did2 means direct and continual e!perience of "od
single2 unreliable and sometimes mentally unbalanced individuals that tal to Christian writers who faithfully record their delusions. ;thers2 as + have said are all about Christian culture and consensus regardless of spiritual reality . o learning to distinguish between fact and theory2 which is often in e!perience distinguishing between fact and fantasy2 is vital to spiritual discernment. A person lacing spiritual wisdom or discernment is hardly liely to have a gift of discerning of spirits. However there is an honest mistae some souls mae. 5any people regard all strong stories of demonic activity as intrinsically false. 0hey assume that the reality lies in subtleties. 0hey may accept that an evil presence or bad atmosphere e!ists in an individual or an obect. 0hey cannot accept that atan is a person that would actually appear to his servants or to some believersN 0he reality is that although there is a lot of nonsense written and put out by publishing houses to mae money = and sensationalism sells- and it is also true that those in genuine deliverance ministry often are dealing with things that aren
often uses seasons of demonic oppression to hide his real worings. 0hey are merely a distraction. 0he believer goes through a tremendous battle and gets the victory. 0hey are pleased and grow stronger. All the while atan had been secretly planting something elsewhere in your life of his woring. without any sign of +f you are discerning this tactic would have been used against you. 6ou have been deceived by this distraction2 of spiritual warfare and victory 2 which you could hardly ignore- which allowed atan to wor in secret on something else. uses2 diversions2 distractions are standard in human games2 martial arts and warfare: Dhile general A fights and wins a great battle on the plain his enemy general O has secretly saced his castleF +t is always best in dealing with demons to assume you don#t now what is going on2 even if you are enlightened2 and to pray in principal this: ?ather2 in 1esus# 8ame2 deliver me from the unseen realm2 the unnown stratagems of evil and from the seeds of evil that will bear fruit in years to come if 6ou do not root them out todayF... - omething along those lines. 6ou need this information and this idea. &ere is a more comforting secret of the spiritual realm, "od does His greatest wors in silence. $eep within you2 unseen2 unfelt and not guessed 2 you have seeds of grace that will bear fruit in their season if you will persevere2 Amen. The danger to others +t is sometimes the case that evil spirits will w ill attac those close to us or related to us in some way. 0hese attacs are almost always unseen and unrecognised. ;ften they are unrecognised by Christians and this maes them more effective as they are not prayed against. These attacks usually appear to the world w orld as ‘bad luck’ 0he most common forms of this intensified bad luc- are are illnesses2
accidents and misfortunes. 0his results in such things as mysterious illnesses that doctors misdiagnose and mistreat@ severe inuries or death@ marital brea up2 loss of wor2 bullying at school etc. +t is interesting to note that these are the opposite of the Christians< blessings and to those blessings "od gives to those who bless such ChristiansF I implied that demons will make the spiritual warrior appear foolish insane or proud to obser)ers. 5any believers2 often very famous historical believers2 give accounts of profound ecstasies2 visions2 encounters with atan2 wonders2 signs2 miracles and strange Providence or eventsN +s it e!aggeration and are they lie the deceived Christian2 8elson whom + mentionedE 6ou will need to discern. ome of the most spiritual people who have ever lived have more detractors than respecters and many of the least spiritual people today = miracle worers among them = are heralded as great Christian leaders and they have very powerful testimonies and sometimes even real attested miracles: 6et2 among them are some of atan
To understand the spiritual realm and spiritual life you must understand this simple fact, The human spirit is expanded by #od both in trials and in blessings.
+n this way the human consciousness is e!panded by "od. 0he human spirits Jof the spiritual ChristiansK are capable of e!periencing far more than any ordinary persons. 0his is why the scriptures themselves are full of profoundly deep and powerful sayings of the strength and wonder of "od: Abundant life as a river@ filled to the fullness with "od@ cups of
blessing overflowing etc. ;n the other hand it is true that many modern Christian boos in particular use adectives in such su ch over-abundance that they seem to the wary as being full of bluff and bluster- and they areF 6ou must udge yourself if the boos you read are lie this or are the fruit of believers with years of true discipleship and fellowship with "od = and therefore opposition from the evil one. (hristians of strong faith are like the !rk ! rk of the (o)enant, 0hey are a great blessing to people of faith and can be a great terror to those who are opposed to "od. 0he world
Satan + said + would not go into i nto tal of fallen angels but + can hardly teach upon this subect without speaing of their chief. atan rarely bothers Christians directly - - and this will be the opposite of everything you have ever heard. He uses lesser demons. He will tae a loo at the stronger Christians and appoint far more demons to attac them. 0herefore if you now for certain that atan has taen an interest in you then you must have given him cause to. Gie 8apoleon atan is a silled s illed general and strategist and not easily defeated. He is usually busy with the great ones on earth and only if you defeat some powerful evil spirits will atan personally tae an interest in you. +f he does most of the boos you have read will be of little use to you but the Bible will come alive in ways you never imagined. It is important to learn not to be intimidated by him/ even if he ills those close to you@ destroys your fortunes and leaves you lie 1ob. He is acting from fear. Dhen + say fear let me tell you that atan is literally l iterally
terrified of powerful believers. His power is so great he could easily destroy the strongest of them but as "od is their Protector he nows that for every strie he taes he must pay a terrible price. +n this way the ingdom of Gight advances and the ingdom of darness recedes.
If you ha)e recei)ed the gift of discernment of spirits it will w ill take time for it to de)elop but even so the veil of the spiritual realm will 9uicly be torn away. 6ou will either stand or fall. + you fall ">0 P A"A+82 and again and again. 0he time will surely su rely come when you will see atan tremble at your feet. Satan’s army 0his is ust an introductory chapter to the subect so it is neither comprehensive nor thorough. ;ne more thing + should mention is i s that atan organises his servants as a great army. 1ust as in any army you will have sappers2 sharpshooters2 pilots2 gunnies2 technicians in communications etc. and of course the all important propagandists 2 so it is similar with the powers of darness.
0here are territorial spirits2 ancestral spirits2 spirits related r elated to particular inds of deceptions2 others related to particular sins... 0here is no rule boo. +n relation to sin there are certain sins that humans could commit without demonic influence and certain ones that would w ould only be committed under demonic influence. ;ne of atan
Strategies +n any army you have long term strategies for con9uering territory so it is with atanast in a constant state of instability. 0his is a first move at aiming at a 0hird Dorld Dar. Dar . J+ am certainly not saying he will be successful.K Another stratagem is to prepare the world for a pseudoscientific belief in "od since si nce evolutionary theory has been falling from within. A scientific<2 impersonal god is useful to atan. A third stratagem is the eep the Church divided. 0here are literally thousands of denominations and as long as Christians are proud of this instead of being ashamed of it- it is a great travesty = = the enemy will continue to con9uer. ;nly a united Church of Biblical truth can defeat atan.
8one of these views came from reading others< opinions. All are my own personal views formed by my relationship with "od in the conte!t of the gift of the discernment of spirits.
