“The best way to win a game is to be both sides” – Frederick Dodson Definition: Duality urfing is a method to re-e!"erience both sides of a mental #and emotional$ "olarity or dichotomy% This results in a natural #non-forced$ change of &iew"oint to a le&el beyond both sides% This state is one of non-duality regarding a to"ic% 't is a state of freedom and of choice to either decide for one side( the other( or neither of the two% )ecause e&ery to"ic comes “in twos”( Duality urfing can be a""lied to e&erything% *ot can only e!ist in contrast to cold% +ich can only e!ist in com"arison to "oor% *a""y and ,nha""y arise together% ith most "eo"le( one side of the coin is conscious #they are aware of it$ and the other is unconscious% The The minute you say “' want to find a good "artner” the conce"t of not finding a "artner( or the "artner not being good arises( consciously or subconsciously subconsciously%% 'n other words( without that goal( there is no "roblem% 'f you don.t want to climb the mountain( the rocks on the "ath are no "roblem% Duality urfing heightens your ability to acce"t the negati&e side of things% *a&ing acce"ted one side of the coin it becomes much easier to claim the other side% Therefore( Duality-urfing heightens your ability to focus on the "ositi&e% /""lication: hen using Duality urfing you define either a Desire( +esistance or To"ic To"ic to work on% Then you define the o""osite of that% Then you merge your awareness with one side and then the other side( back and forth( until your attachment to either side releases and you are able to &iew the sub0ect non-dually% non-dually% This is usually accom"anied by a sense of relief and lightness and a “being 12 with both sides”% Duality urfing is "racticed to increase mental energy #/ttention( &isual 'magination( Concentration$( to increase 'ntuition #insights( hunches$ through letting go of trying to sol&e things with the limited world-mind alone( to free oneself from mental records that are running on automatic( re"etition-loo"s( for the increase of well-being and the general e!"ansion of Consciousness% Consciousness% Duality urfing is a “ne!t 3eneration” "sycho-s"iritual Techni4ue Techni4ue that is not yet widely known or used but s"eedily effecti&e in terms of self-thera"y and s"iritual ad&ancement% 't is im"ortant to learn that our world is built on "olarity% "olarity% 1ne side cannot e!ist without the other% 5ou can only "ercei&e light in contrast to dark% ithout a mountain there would be no &alley% 5ou cant ha&e one side of the coin and not another% another% 1therwise its not a coin% /nd yet( so many li&e as if a to"ic were only one thing instead of two% 6an-oman( 6an-oman( 7ife-Death( ummer-inter8all "olarities are conce"ts that de"end on each other% ' kee" r eferring to “most "eo"le” in my writings and this is why “most "eo"le” are not enlightened or at source of their reality% reality% /lmost e&eryone that a""roaches me so that ' hel" them to reach a goal( will say to me: “' do want T*'( but ' do not want T*/T #the o""osite$”% ell( '.&e got news for you: 'f you want to ha&e one thing( you will also ha&e to e!"erience its o""osite% /nd that.s what Duality-urfing is for: o that you don.t ha&e to e!"erience it.s o""osite in real life and not for long% 5ou can do it all mentally% )ut sooner or later( in some way or another( you are going to ha&e to acce"t “the other side”( your shadow( the dark side% /s long as you ha&e not acce"ted the factual reality of that t hat side( you are still beha&ing like a little child in denial% 'n that mode you are fore&er running away from your shadows% )ut you can.t esca"e your shadow% 5ou can acce"t it though% /nd once you acce"t it( it will become your com"anion rather than your ad&ersary% ad&ersary% 6ost of what a human does is aimed at feeling better and a&oiding feeling worse% o they do what the think will achie&e that% )ut what “most "eo"le” #again( those "esky 99:-$ are not aware of is that e&ery Desire is also a +esistance% 'f you desire freedom( you resist im"risonment% 'f you resist im"risonment( you desire freedom% Too much wanting one thing not only creates a lot of lack of that one thing but e&en has the tendency to create more of it.s o""osite% o""osite% These are a few dichotomies "eo"le carry:
“' want more sur"rises in my life” – “' want more security in my life” “' want to be more close to "eo"le” – “' want to be more free from "eo"le” “' am uni4ue and indi&idual” – “' am 0ust like all other "eo"le of my grou"” The idea of Duality urfing is to harmoni;e( synchroni;e and merge Dichotomies like these% To understand that both 1"tion / and 1"tion ) are com"letely &alid and offer interesting o""ortunities for e!"erience% /nd also to understand that one can e!"erience 1"tion / as well as ) at the same time% 1nly the mind belie&es there are contradictions% 'n my relationshi" for e!am"le( ' feel com"letely free and at the same time totally close and committed% ell( meanwhile it.s more than that: Thoughts about freedom or closeness don.t e&en occur anymore because ' ha&e mentally released the entire construct% hat is or is not "ro"er beha&ior "resents itself from moment to moment% ' don.t need a mental construct to “"re"are” for how to beha&e in the future% The 4uestion is not whether "ath / or "ath ) are good but whether ' am good right here and now( no matter which "ath is taken% /nd guess what< 5ou can be com"letely miserable or ha""y on either "ath% 2nowing that reality is determined by you and not by the "ath is "ure "ower% non duality meditation Taking in “both sides of an issue” can seem difficult because we tend to not want to change our &iew"oint or acknowledge other ways of seeing things% hy do we feel uncomfortable changing our &iew"oint< )ecause kee"ing a fi!ed stand at one "oint makes us feel more stable% /nd indeed( fi!ed o"inions and strong beliefs do enable us to feel more "owerful% This is the cause of religious fanaticism% 'f ' ha&e a fi!ed and unchanging belief about something( that belief will begin to draw and accumulate energy and create a reality that accords to that strong con&iction% 'f someone asks me to change my &iew"oint its only natural that ' resist that% The "erson is asking me to gi&e u" my "ower= *owe&er( with beliefs and &iew"oints that do not hel" or ser&e you( letting go of your "osition is only a tem"orary loss you go into for a much greater gain% 5es( releasing negati&e mindsets and attitudes can be and is e!"erienced as a loss by many% That.s why they don.t do it% For things you would like to create in lif e( you should become an absolutist who knows no other truth% For things you want to de-create in life( you should become a relati&ist who sees many le&els of truth% “'s it true or not<” “'sn.t both true<” “'s that really true<” “*ow do ' know it.s true<” and “That.s only a matter of "ers"ecti&e” are &ery useful 4uestions and statements when it comes to things you want to dissol&e% hat you are doing is dissol&ing your tight gri" on a certain reality% >!am"le: “'s it really true that ' ha&e difficulty talking in front of others< 'snt it more true that ' only sometimes ha&e difficulty< Does it not come easy to me when ' talk about things ' like<” /bout 99 of the time when "eo"le ask me a “this or that” 4uestion( the answer is: “)oth=” The dual-mind is inca"able of of seeing that and re4uires one side to be “true” and the other to be “untrue”% “/re you for or against them<” some ask( as if those were the only two alternati&es% hat if ' am neither for nor against< 1r what if ' am for in some conte!ts and against in others< 1r what if ' am for something entirely different than those two o"tions< 1ne of the traits of duality is the ?endulum->ffect% 6aybe you ha&e already seen "eo"le who were &ery e!tremely holding on to something and then( some time later( holding on to the e!act o""osite of that thing% The stronger you "ush the ?endulum in one direction( the stronger it will strike back into the other% That.s why )uddha and countless other s"iritual teachers tell you to “stay in the middle”( “kee" calm”( “remain "oised” and “easy does it”% That.s why often the most rabid “anti” stances are usually by "eo"le who were "re&iously fanatically “"ro” that same thing% /s an e!"eriment( write something down that you used to like but today no longer like% For
e!am"le ' really used to lo&e li&ing out in the country and a&oid the city% Now ' lo&e li&ing in the city and am not really in the mood for country% /lso write something down that you used to dislike but now like% ' used to dislike Cathedrals( seeing them as dark and o""ressi&e% Today ' lo&e Cathedrals and see them as beautiful and sacred% 'f you write down a few instances like this you will see the ?endulum >ffect in action in your life% ' f you used to lo&e smoking( maybe today you are really annoyed by smokers% 'f you used to worshi" a certain teaching( maybe today you are “anti” that teaching% im"ly be careful not to hate or cra&ing anything to strongly( it could go to it.s o""osite someday when you least e!"ect it% Duality urfing is a reliable method of achie&ing mental and emotional fr eedom% 5ou will notice this already after the first few sessions of doing it% 5ou will feel the relief and the strengthening of the state of certainty that resides beyond the myriad mirror-halls of the mind% ' do not recommend you use Duality-urfing too fre4uently or des"erately in some attem"t to “gain enlightenment”% /llow yourself to change gradually( softly( gently( o&er time% +adical beha&ior is unnatural and may create sudden changes8but what about the rest of the days of your life< '@d recommend not to do less than one session a month but not more than one session a day% 1ne session can take anything between A minutes and se&eral hours% Doing this for se&eral hours will get you high as a kite and able to access dee"er seated issues% )ut it.s not necessary for creating gains% >&en A minutes of this can ha&e a great effect% +eali;e that any shift mentallyBemotionally gradually also creates a shift in your “real e&ery day life”% Don.t be sur"rised if there are issues that 0ust don.t show u" anymore% beyond duality There is one rule to this: Ne&er break off a ession while you are in emotional turmoil or a "roblematic reality% 'f( for e!am"le( your Duality-urfing ession brings u" old wounds( "lease continue your session until those energies rela! and dissi"ate% 5ou don.t want to stay stuck in a bad state for the rest of the day% 5ou can sa&e yourself this trouble if you sim"ly follow through to your ession to the end( without distracting yourself% 7et.s now look at an e!am"le% 7et.s say you choose the desire to be self-em"loyed% o being successfully self-em"loyed would be one side of the e4uation% The other is not-being-selfem"loyed( "erha"s in this case( being an em"loyee% o you would sit down( close your eyes and focus on “being em"loyed”% Then( after A-A seconds #not more=$ you would focus on being selfem"loyed% Then( after another A-A seconds you would in&est all of your attention again into being em"loyed% /nd then back to being self-em"loyed% This alternating back and forth is Duality urfing% 't is often not enough to mo&e back and forth only twice% / normal session alternates between both sides se&eral( maybe e&en do;ens and maybe e&en many do;ens of ti mes% ometimes you will e!"erience one side getting stronger or weaker% im"ly continue in the same way% ometimes( when doing a ession with someone( ' will add things such as “/llow yourself to to be E” or “+elease +esistance toward E” or “elcome E” or “6erge with E” or “Feel E” or “'magine E” or “>!"erience E”8these are all 0ust different ways to say “Focus on8”% Focusing can mean to feel or imagine( but in the sense of Duality urfing( it always means releasing your a&ersion and resistance toward something and 0ust sinking into it% 5our ession continues until you can effortlessly and willingly be any of the two sides% The indicator that your ession is finished is that you can take on any of the &iew"oints easily% That means you are in full control of both states( without ha&ing to get something or fi! something or change something or o&ercome something% hy are you in control of both sides< )ecause you turned them on and off se&eral times during your ession% omething you kee" turning on and off( you e&entually gain control o&er% 't would be im"ossible to ha&e this le&el of "ower if you were still stuck in one of the sides of the "olarity% The le&el beyond both sides is the le&el from which you can easily create and de-create both sides% Consciousness is now no longer the left or right side of the ?yramid( but it.s ca"% Thesis and /ntithesis become ynthesis%
