'Planetary Influence on the Stock Market'
Prof. Somendra Sharma*, Dr. Rajesh Joshi**
Abstract: The stock market has been assigned an important place in financing the Indian corporate sector. Besides assisting resources for investment, directly from the investors, providing liquidity for the investors and monitoring and disciplining company managements are the principal functions of the stock markets. The general purpose of the study is to investigate the capital market and to understand the stock market and their rolling; there are various factors which influence the stock market. Every one wonders, at some time or the others, what the future holds in store for him/her; even a sceptic. Astrology is one such medium, based in established criteria, that tries to shed some light into dark tunnels of future events. Astrology (Jyotish) has been in existence in India for many million years now, along with the Vedas, Jyotish consists of mainly of two parts: astronomy and astrology.

Key words: Stock Market, Astrological Study. Introduction: Astrology is the science of the effects and influence of the celestial bodies on life on earth, especially of the observables planets and constellation considered nearer in relation to earth Astrology is the knowledge of relationships based on man and his environment. It includes entire galaxy and is true of planetary bodies. Their radiations affect each other, including earth and all the things on it, there is no doubt the sun has the greatest influence on the life of earth .the influence of sun is clear to see. The influence of Moon on the other hand is more subtle, through less definite. There are many ways in which the influence of moon manifests itself on earth, human, plant and animal life. It is well known fact that large moment of water on earth, that is flow of tides, is caused by moon. Human body which consist of 70 percent water too falls within the scope of lunar influence. The menstrual cycle of many women correspond to the lunar month; the human period of pregnancy is 273 days, or equal to nine lunar months. Literature Review: It is been established in physical science that everything in the universe has an effect on everything else, Astrology is one of the main factor that directly affects the moments of the stock market. Now as we all know that sun and moon are the only planet that is visible through naked eyes, In Traditional Indian astrology it is written that, Pratyaksham jyotisham shastram Chandraarko yatra Sakshino It means Indian Astrology is divine science, and it is real. Sun and moon is the proof of its accuracy. Analysis and Interpretation: Sun: Sun is deemed to be the king, chief or head among all planets. The reason is not far to seek. It is the brightest of all planets. It gives us life through its light. It causes rain without which human, animal and plant life would be no more, it reflect light to the moon. Sun is the most important planet in solar system. The major governing areas of sun is pharmaceuticals sector, agriculture industry, forest, animal husbandry, Government policy and there administrative changes. There is one important relation between sun and stock market. The combination of Sun and Rahu, creates major fluctuations on the stock market, Admittance of Sun as the main influencing star on stock market requires heliocentric charts (heliocentric means

'Sun centered') to be included into the analysis. When it comes to the Sun, only Earth, Venus and Jupiter can significantly affect solar activities either positively or negatively. The main advantage of astrological forecast lays in the availability of precise information even hundreds years in advance. However, in the absence of long term topping and super crash formations, hard angles do not give outright clues to specify turning points exactly. Moon: At the initial stage itself, one must remember that moon is the exclusive ruler of the mind in case of all humans. Sharpness in thought and the tendency to maintain secrecy are the basic attributes of the Moon. The Lunar phase is in fact the appearance of the illuminated part of the Moon as seen from the Earth. The lunar phase varies as the moon orbits the Earth accordingly to the positions of the Moon, Earth and Sun related to each other. Every 28 days the Moon comes between the Sun and Earth. This means that the Moon is in conjunction with the Sun. At this specific moment the Moon is not visible to the eye, but the original meaning of "New Moon" refers to the first visible crescent of the Moon after conjunction. The Moon can be now seen over the western horizon and each night, the illuminated part gets bigger until, after 14 days, almost a whole hemisphere of the Moon can be seen. This is in fact the moment of the Full Moon. The Moon is now on the opposite side of the Earth from the Sun. This means that the Moon is in opposition with the Sun. The Full Moon rises over the horizon after the sunset. During the next 14 days the illuminated part decreases until the Moon is again in conjunction with the Sun (the next New Moon). The exact time for the Full Moon and the New Moon is determined using a mathematical formula and can be found in the ephemeris. The first 14 days of the lunar month represent the period when the illuminated part of this celestial body raises and is considered the best part of all 28 days. It is a benefice time for new, important and complex things, for making new plans and for starting new projects. It is exactly what the elders said: the right thing at the right time! The time between the 15th and 28th days represents the decreasing period of the Moon and is considered inauspicious. During this second half of the lunar month we should continue the things we have already started working on and avoid making mistakes. It is not recommended to begin new actions because they are meant to fail. If we apply this new information to the financial market we can find new rules: during the new moon and the first 14 days, people are driven to put into practice new plans (buying stocks for example); during and after the full moon there is a tendency towards waiting and even selling. There is a strong correlation between the period when the seen part of the Moon increases in size and the price of the stocks going up; and between the last 14 days of the lunar month (visible part of the Moon getting smaller) and the price of the stocks going down.

Sun outage and Indian stock market A sun outage is an interruption in or distortion of geostationary satellite signals caused by interference from solar radiation. The effect is due to the sun’s radiation overwhelming the satellite signal. Generally, sun outages occur in February, March, September and October, that is, around the time of the equinoxes. At these times, the apparent path of the sun across the sky takes it directly behind the line of sight between an earth station and a satellite. As the sun radiates strongly at the microwave frequencies used to communicate with satellites (C-band and Ku-band) the sun swamps the signal from the satellite. The effects of a sun outage can include partial degradation, that is, an increase in the error rate, or total destruction of the signal. Conclusion In India, the BSE (Bombay Stock Exchange) and NSE (National Stock Exchange) use VSATs (Very Small Aperture Terminal) for members to connect to their trading systems. VSATs depend upon satellites for connectivity between the terminals/systems. Hence these exchanges are affected due to the sun outage. These exchanges normally remain closed from 11:45 to 12:30 during 'sun outages', but times vary depending on the scientific factors. The interference in satellite signals disturbs smooth transmission of data of online transactions; hence these share markets remain closed for the duration of sun outages. Due to these outages, the trading sessions are normally extended in the same day to compensate for the lost time. In September 2006, however, only the NSE intended to shut down during the sun outage; the BSE did not. The reason for which is unknown. There will be a change in the NSE and BSE market timings from March 04, 2008 to March 18, 2008 due to the sun outage. There are certain factors which influence the stocks, like world events, social factors, Exchange rates, political factors and we can say that star or the planetary combination is having direct relation with the above mentioned factors. As we all know that astrology is a divine science, it requires professional knowledge and understanding of the planetary movements, the capital markets channel the wealth of savers to those who can put it to long term productive use, such as companies or governments making long term investments. The capital market is relatively for long term financial instruments. The study of the impact of stars on stock market is itself a new stream to unfold the hidden mysteries of Capital market especially Indian Capital market. Therefore more research on this subject will definitely release a positive result that proves a strong relationship between stock market and the planetary movements.
