• Must know tonifying and sedating techniques – Burning Mountain Technique – Penetrating Cooling Heaven Technique – Need to know these basic techniques in order to master scalp acupuncture
– Gently lifting (withdrawing) the needle and forcefully thrusting in the needle (with all your qi) – Need to repeat 9 times for each layer • Each acupoint, has 3 layers – each layer is 0.5 cun – Top layer: Heaven (Tian) – Middle layer: Human (Ren) – Bottom layer: Earth (Di)

• Distance from Du 23 to Du 22 is 1 cun. • From Du 22 to the end of the upper jiao area, which is the diaphragm, is another 0.5 cun.
– Represents our chest cavity, above the diaphragm – Treats problems including breast, sternum, the heart, lungs, trachea, etc.
