GAS WELDING INTRODUCTION: As we know gas welding use flame as source of heat. The flame is produced from mixed of oxygen gas and fuel gas the flame melts the edges or surfaces of joining metal. This allow the molten metal to flow together and form a solid continuous joint upon cooling.
LEARNING OUTCOME: At the end of the experiment, we should know i) How to use use 3 type of flame ( caboraizing , neutral , oxydixing ) ii) Type of the torch that are used iii) Thickness of the metal that involved in joining and neutral process
THEORY: Neutral welding is a process that didn’t melt the metal. But it is joined metal by
different type. Where the metal heated to become red and using same properties metal filler rod to make the easy join the metal.
EQUIENT AND APPARATUS:
Oxygen and acetylene gas cylinder
Pressure of regulator to adjust
Gas hose to channel the gas from the cylinder to the torch
Spinder key to lock or unlock the cylinder valve
Spark light to ingnite the torch
Google
Glove
PROCEDURE: BUTT JOIN 1. Setup the acetylene cylinder and oxygen cylinder using spinder key. 2. Setup the regulator regulator to control pressure from the the tanks to the required pressure in the hose. 3. Setup the torch to produce the the flame starting from acetylene acetylene valve and than to the oxygen valve with ratio ( 1:1 ). 4. Weld the metal with same properties rod to start joining method.
CORNER JOIN: 1.
Setup the acetylene cylinder and oxygen cylinder using spinder key.
2.
Setup the regulator regulator to control pressure from the tanks to the required required pressure in the hose.
3.
Setup the torch to produce the flame starting from acetylene valve and than to the oxygen valve with ratio (1:1).
4.
Setup the metal with zigg.
5.
Weld the metal with same properties metal rod and start joining method.

BUTT JOIN AND CORNER JOIN 1. ARC STRIKE:
A localized coalescence outside the weld zone.
Precaution – in difficult area , adjacent area can be protected using fire blankets.
2. MISALIGNMENT:
Amount a join is out of alignment at the root.
Precaution- workmanship workmanship , transition angle not to exceed 2.5 to 1
3. DISTORTION:
Weld distortion is due to solidification shrinkage and thermal contraction of the weld metal during welding.
Precaution- welding short length on a planned or random distortion are used to controlled this problem.
DISCUSSION AND SUGGESTION: 1. What is function for regulator? -

Open the acetylene with half rotation

It because of lack of experience and need more practical

Constant the the slow movement and and make a correct handle the torch with with o

CONCLUSION: At the end of the experiment , as we know: 1. The problem that occurs on the metal in neutral weld process. 2. How to weld with correctly. 3. Three type of different flame. 4. How to start or setup the regulator valve with correctly.
