1. Overview of Group Control System This manual describes how to configure main settings of the ring-type group control system and how to troubleshoot failures.
2. Ring Group Controller •
Communication method : The group controller is connected to the 1st car, 2nd car and the N-th car in series.
•
Composition : Group micom board
•
Application system : T&S, FIVF4, STVF7, HSVF, and SUVF
•
Input power : DC 24 V power is supplied to the board through SMPS in the case of HSVF and STVF7 series and DC 24 V obtained by rectifying AC power with a transformer in the control panel is supplied to the board in the case of FIVF4, T&S, and SUVF series. Please note that the power is supplied to the SIO (GIO) board of each car as well.

3. Things to Check when Configuring the Group Controller 3.1

The data of group controller is set using the hand-held terminal (HHT). The data of all boards are configured to the factory default settings. Do not change the data for purposes other than repair or specifications change.
•
To pull out the Group DSP33 board from the group I/O (GR_RING) board, be sure to turn off the board power (DC 24 V) first.
Checking the State of the Group Controller and Configuring the Controller Check the operation of ring group boards V 1.0 and V 2.0. •
When the group DSP33 board turns on, the D2 LED turns on as well.
•
When the settings data is properly stored, the D4 LED turns on.
•
When the program is working properly, the D3 LED blinks.

Things to Check when Installing Optical Cable

•
When the optical cable from the group controller is connected to the LCD1 optical module of the 1st car, the light turns on at the inside of the LCD2 optical module. After then, when the optical cable from the 1st car is connected to the LCD1 optical module of the n-th car, the light turns on at the inside of the LCD2 optical module. If the light does not turn on, there is a strong possibility that the 24 V power is not supplied to the SIO or GIO board or the power-related element is defective. If the power supply is O.K., you need to check the damage of the optical cable.
•
The optical cable must be installed in the order of the LCD2 (OPT2) of the group controller, the first car, the second car, the third car, and the n-th car. If the installation order is not properly followed, it becomes difficult to find the cause when there is a problem in group communication. In particular, please note that the optical cable is connected only to the LCD2 (OPT2) of the group controller.
•
If the auxiliary group board is added as an option, please note that it needs to be placed between the main group board and the SIO board and the switch settings are different. (Refer to P.8)
•
In the case of the iGC3 board, the names of LCD1 and LCD2 were changed to OPT1 and OPT2 respectively. But, their functions are the same. Do not connect the optical cable from LCD2 of the SIO board of the last car to LCD1 of the group controller. Otherwise, it may cause a group communication problem, which, in turn, may cause problems such as group assignment errors and deletion of registered hall calls.

4. Description on the SIO and the GIO Boards of Each Car The main micom board of each car has a SIO board (STVF5, SUVF, FIVF4, and T&S system) and GIO board (STVF7, HSVF system) which perform optical communication with a group controller. The boards have different shapes but perform the same role.

6. Configuring Car for the Handicapped 6.1 1)
Operating Car for the Handicapped In the group control system, you can configure up to two handicapped cars. •
Configuring a handicapped car on the main board:
STVF 5 system
Set the address ‘04C5’ to ‘01’. (For deactivation/activation, a PSD ROM must be burned again.)
STVF7 system
Set 3.SETUP → 3.2 DEVICE → 32h HALL.1.TYPE->HANDICAP.
T&S and FIVF4 system SUVF system

Set ‘S03 HANDICAP’ to ‘1’ →Set the rotary SW of the OPB board for the handicapped to ‘2’ → Turn the rotary switch of the SIO board 180 degrees from the assigned car value. Press the ENT key twice on the keypad. → Enter the four-digit password(* default password: 1080) → [3] DATA SET-UP → [6] CALL DATA → [4] DISABLED CALL→ 1
Configuring a handicapped car in the group controller: Set 'S03 HANDICAP' to ‘1’ and 'S04 HANDICAP CAR' to a handicapped car. In the iGC3004 version, 'S03 HANDICAP' and 'S04 HANDICAP CAR' are changed to 'S03 HANDICAP 1st' and 'S04 HANDICAP 2nd', respectively. If there is one handicapped car in group control, just enter the corresponding car in 'S03 HANDICAP 1st'.
The group control for a call for the handicapped car is as follows: •
If a normal car call is registered, services are assigned to both normal cars and handicapped cars. (At this time, the hall buttons turn on only on normal cars but not on handicapped cars.)
•
If a call for the handicapped car is registered, the hall buttons turn on only on the handicapped cars and only the handicapped cars offer the service.
•
Even if a normal car arrives on the floor on which the car is called, the hall button for the handicapped car is not turned off. Only when the handicapped car arrives, the call for the handicapped car is removed.

7. Group Control HHT This section describes group control HHT based on ring group control and focuses mainly on important settings. For more information on additional settings, refer to the Group Controller Manual. In case of Ring Group V 1.0 and V 2.0 boards, connect the HHT to the board and then press the UP and DOWN keys simultaneously for one second to display the screen.

The HHT settings related to floors are mostly in hexadecimal numbers. In other words, you have to convert a hexadecimal number into a binary number and match each digit of the binary number to a floor to check or edit the floor settings. e.g.) A 12-story building is ‘FFF' in a hexadecimal number and '1111 1111 1111' in a binary number. (In 'FFF' and '1111 1111 1111', the far left digit is the top floor and the far right digit is the bottom floor.)

Configuring Group Settings Configuring the S Mode The items of existing Ring Group V 1.0 and V 2.0 and those of the iGC3 board, a new group control board, are listed independent of the boards. In case of the iGC3 board, press ESC to switch the HHT mode in the order of S, M and D.

♠1 BASIC FLOOR2 - BASIC FLOOR8: Available in iGC3011 or later models. ♠2 E/L SPEED: When you set the elevator speed in iGC3011 or later models, you need to enter the model and traction machine type (induction motor/synchronous motor). You can enter them as shown below: ① Use the UP and DOWN keys on iGC3 board to select the HHT option S06 E/L SPEED and then press the ENTER key. When the cursor blinks, select the speed using the UP and DOWN keys and press the ENTER key. ② When the AC0 E/L MODEL option appears, select the elevator type using the UP and DOWN keys and press the ENTER key. ③ In the AC1 MOTOR TYPE option, select the motor type using the UP and DOWN keys and press the ENTER key. (1 - induction motor, 2 - synchronous motor) ④ When AC0 and AC1 are properly selected, press the ESC key to return to the S mode and continue the configuration process.
♠3 Prompt prediction reassignment: Available in iGC3 board ver. iGC3011 or later. ♠4 UNDER FLR : Sets the lowest ghost floor for each car. e.g.) When the car with the largest number of service floors is the second car among the cars in group control, if the second car provides services to the floors between the fifth underground floor and the 10th floor and the first car provides services to the floors between the third underground floor and the 10th floor, the first car serves two floors less than the second car. Accordingly, ‘#1 UNDER FLOOR’ is set to '2'. ♠5 MID UBFLR: Sets the first middle ghost floor (virtual floor) for each car. This is available only in the T&S system as it has the concept of virtual floor. e.g.) If the second car among the cars in group control provides services to the floors between the fifth underground floor and the 10th floor and the fourth floor is a ghost floor (virtual floor), the fourth floor is set to the middle ghost floor. In other words, as the fourth floor is the ninth floor in absolute value starting from the fifth underground floor, the bottom floor of the second car, ‘#2 MID UBFLR’ is set to ‘9’. * What is a virtual floor? A virtual floor does not have an actual floor level vane and only displays its nominal level. It is now only used in the T&S system. In FIVF4, STVF5, STVF7, SUVF, and SUVF systems, the floor is treated as a non-stop floor.

Refer to P.14 to set the serviceable floor and non-serviceable floor to ‘1’ and ‘0’ respectively.

In the T&S model, the floors entered in MID UBFLR and MID 2UBFLR must be set appropriately when you set STOP FL.
•
In the ST5, ST7, FI4, and SUVF models, the non-stop floors are not entered in MID UBFLR and MID 2UBFLR. They must be set appropriately when you set STOP FL.
•

You can correct a wrong date or change the existing date using this option. e.g.) If the accurate date is ‘March 30, 2004’, set the date to ‘00040330'. ♠ HOUR : MINUTE : SECOND Changes hour, minute and second. You can correct a wrong date using this option. e.g.) If it is now 16:20:45, set the time to ‘00162045’. * Because the time is in the 24-hour mode, you need to be careful when setting the time in the afternoon.

Appendix A. Some Important Matters of Group Control System A.1 Connecting Power to Group Control System •
DC 24 V must be supplied to the group controller and the SIO or GIO board of each car.
•
The DC 24 V power must be jumped among cars so that the car whose main power is turned off can get power from other cars where the power is still on.
1)
Operating group control only in T&S or FIVF4 or in combination of T&S and FIVF4 Jump the power of HV22 and HINC among cars to supply the power to the group controller and the SIO board of each car.
2)
Operating group control only in SUVF Jump the power of GP24 and GN24 among cars to supply the power to the group controller and the SIO board of each car.
3)
Operating group control only in HSVF, STVF5 series, or STVF7 series or in combination of STVF series and HSVF Supply DC 24 V (P24(B), G24(B)) of SMPS for group control power installed in the first car to the group controller and the GIO board of each car.
4)
Operating group control in combination of T&S and STVF series or in combination of FIVF4 and STVF series Use HV22 and HINC of T&S or FIVF4 as the power for group control of STVF series.
Never short-circuit HV22 and HINC of T&S or FIVF4 to P24 and N24 of the STVF series. 5)
Operating group control in combination of SUVF and STVF7 series, in combination of SUVF and HSVF, or in combination of T&S (FIVF4) and STVF series Use GP24 and GN24 of SUVF as the power for group control of STVF7 (HSVF) series.
Never short-circuit GP24 and GN24 of SUVF to P24 and N24 of the STVF series. Use HV22 and HINC of T&S or FIVF4 as the power for group control of STVF series.
Never short-circuit HV22 and HINC of T&S or FIVF4 to P24 and N24 of the STVF series.

A.2 Group Control Problems and Solutions 1)

The cars located far away frequently provide the service. •
If you configure the handicapped settings in the main board but do not configure it in the group control board, a car located far away may provide the service. Therefore, you need to configure the handicapped settings in the group control board or deactivate it in the main board. (Refer to 4. Description on SIO and GIO Boards of Each Car)
•
If the S07 option is 0, reassignment is not performed. Set it to 1 to make reassignment possible.
In the case of the double-touch for the hall call, hall call registration or cancellation does not work properly. •
If the main board has the double-touch function for the hall call, deactivate the function. (Refer to P.17.)
•
In the case of iGC3 micom board, update the group control program to iGC3011.
•
In the case of Ring Group V 1.0 or V 2.0 and T&S or FIVF4, update the SIO board to SIO47_5.
When cancelling the double-touch for the hall call, the registered hall call occasionally disappears. •
If there is a home indicator board, do not use the cancellation function. (Refer to P.17.)
•
Make sure that the optical module on the group control board is only connected to LCD2 (OPT2). (Refer to P.9.)
Although the home indicator board is used, HALL CHECK1 and 2 are not displayed. (Refer to P.21.) •
If they are not displayed in all floors, take one of the following actions: ① First, press the RESET button on the group controller. ② Communication problem may occur on all floors because the double-touch for the hall call is set or the home indicator board is faulty. Deactivate the double-touch cancellation or check whether the home indicator board is faulty. ③ If the problem continues even after the above measures, check the floor value of SW1 in the home indicator. ④ If the value is not entered, enter an appropriate value, reset the power of the home indicator board, and then press the RESET button of the group controller.
•
If they are not displayed in some floors, take one of the following actions: ① First, press the RESET button on the group controller. ② A faulty home indicator board may cause communication problem on the corresponding floor. ③ After replacing the defective home indicator board, press the RESET button of the group controller.

A car passes the floor on which it is called or a car located far away provides the service. If S07 is set to 0 (prompt prediction) and there is no hall lantern, reassignment is not performed and the car passes the floor on which it is called or the car located far away provides services. Set it to 1 (arrival prediction) to allow reassignment. (Refer to P.16.)

The group control values of the group controller and the main board are normal in the STVF7 series or HSVF, and the connection of the optical cable and the power supply are normal. However a specific car violates group control. It may occur due to the bad connection of the GIO board or the MCU board. Pull out the GIO board and then re-insert it.

The group control values of the group controller and the main board are normal, and the connection of the optical cable and the power supply are normal. But a specific car violates group control and the group operation is abnormal. Check whether the rotary switch for car ID in the SIO or GIO board of each car is properly set. (Refer to P.9.)
8)
HPI is applied to each of the two cars and one hall button is used. However, the hall call registration fails when a specific car is set to manual or the power is turned off. If a hall button is connected to only one car and the car operates in the dedicated or manual mode or the CP power is turned off, you cannot register the hall calls to other cars. Therefore, in such cases, you need to use a hall button jumper cable to jump between CH2Bs of respective cars' HPIs.

The iGC3 Bd is repeatedly reset. Set the SD CARD LOG to 0 in the M mode.
10) The elevator repeatedly returns to the lobby floor even without any call. It is due to the main floor recall function used in the group control. You can deactivate it by setting BASIC FLOOR of the S mode to 0. (Refer to p. 13.) 11) An abnormal reassignment occurs when the non-stop floors by time zone are set in a place where the supervisory panel is used. •
In the case of the iGC3 board, update the program to iGC3011 or higher.
•
In the case of the Ring Group Board V1.0 and V2.0, you need to contact the engineering team or research center in Korea to fix the problem.
12) The program version in the iGC3 board is iMS_TZ64, but the settings for the group mode is not changed. This occurs when the board testing program was downloaded and then installed as is. You need to update the program. Contact the engineering team or research center in Korea to fix the problem. 13) All the settings are deleted when the power is turned off and then on again on the iGC3 board. This is caused by the faulty memory in the board. Replace the board. 14) The registered hall calls of all cars suddenly disappear. (Refer to P.9.) •
If the optical cable coming from the last car is connected to the group control board, disconnect it.
•
Check whether the optical cable is connected to LCD2 (OPT2) of the group controller.
15) The registered hall call of a specific car suddenly disappears. Check if there is an error in the main board or if the control mode is used in the main board.

16) The non-stop floor service is not provided. (Refer to p. 14 - 18.) •
If the underground floor settings are different for each car, check the ghost floor settings of each car (#1- #8UNDER FLR).
•
If there are non-stop floors among middle floors, In the case of T&S : Check the settings of middle ghost floors (#1-#8 MID UBFLR, #1-#8 MID UBFLR2) and the service floors of each car (#1-#8 STOP FL1, #1-#8 STOP FL2). In the case of STVF5, STVF7, FI-4, HSVF, or SUVF : Check the settings of middle ghost floors (#1-#8 MID UBFLR and #1-#8 MID UBFLR are all set to 0) and the service floors of each car (#1-#8 STOP FL1, #1-#8 STOP FL2).
17) The registered hall calls repeatedly disappear after some cars are switched to the manual or parking mode. Check whether the optical cable is connected to LCD2 (OPT2) of the group controller. (Refer to P.9.)
