GUIDELINES FOR MTO MTO is issued in 3 stages: Sl. 1.
Stages of MTO Bulk MTO
2.
Intermediate MTO
3.
Final MTO
Basis of MTO This MTO is based on P&IDs with pipes and elbows being estimated from Preliminary piping study or plot plan & interconnecting diagram. This MTO is a revision of Bulk MTO and based on piping layouts and should ideally differ only in the pipe & elbow quantities from Bulk MTO, unless there are revisions in P&IDs This MTO is based on Isometrics

A. MTO MTO Inp Input ut:: MTO should be input manually in the input sheet prior to input in soft copy to minimize errors 1. MTO should should always be taken taken LINEWISE, LINEWISE, i.e. i.e. MTO for each individua individuall line in a single single input sheet. sheet. 2. Whil Whilee taki taking ng MTO MTO from from P&ID P&ID,, only only thos thosee line liness havi having ng thei theirr orig origin in in that that P&I P&ID shou should ld be considered. 3. For lines lines going across across multiple multiple P&IDs, P&IDs, the the P&ID number number for each each item in the line’s line’s MTO should should be given separately in front of the listed item. This practice can be followed for all items except pipes and elbows since they are not considered from P&IDs. Refer sample sheet-1 for better understanding. 4. All HOLDS HOLDS should should be clearly clearly stated under under HOLDS HOLDS column alongwit alongwith h the reason reason behind HOLD. HOLD. For e.g. if size is on HOLD, “SIZE HOLD” should be mentioned under HOLDS column. This enables better clarity with respect to the reason for HOLD & percentage of the total MTO which is on HOLD. 5. All assumption assumptionss should be clearly clearly stated under ASSUMP ASSUMPTIONS TIONS column column alongwith alongwith the assumed assumed detail. For e.g. if reducer size in control loop is assumed one size less than line size in absence of data in P&ID, the same should be stated under ASSUMPTIONS column. 6. Bolts Bolts should should be given given as no. of SETS SETS in the input sheet sheet which which can be converted converted to no. of pieces pieces in Summary stage. 7. All branch branch connect connection ionss should should be identifi identified ed as BRANCH BRANCH only in the input input sheet. sheet. The same same can be converted converted appropriat appropriately ely in accordance accordance with Piping Specification Specification in Summary Summary stage. All branches which do not terminate in equipments or other lines, for e.g. branches for online instrument mounting, control control loop loop bypass bypass line line branch branch should should be clearl clearly y identi identifie fied d with with appropr appropriat iatee descri descripti ption on under under REMARKS column. Refer sample sheet-2 for better understanding. 8. Type of each item item should be clearly clearly identifi identified ed as follows follows in the input sheet. sheet. If the type type is assumed, assumed, it should be clearly stated under ASSUMPTIONS column in input sheet & later in MTO Basis. a. Type of reducers reducers,, whether whether concentric concentric or eccentri eccentricc should be clearly clearly identi identified. fied. o o b. b. Type Type of elbo elbows ws,, whet whethe herr 90 or 45 should be clearly identified. c. Degree Degree of bends bends shoul should d be clearl clearly y identi identifie fied. d. d.
