This This morning we come to a most most importan importantt subject subject,, and and one one that that each each stud studen entt must must work out for themselves, the sub ject is: “Dominion.” In the beginning, ning, God gave gave us domin dominion ion,, an unlimite unlimited d dominion, dominion, dominion dominion over everything between the skies and the bottom bottom of the seas. seas. Actually Actually,, dominion doesn’t work that that way at all! Dominion Dominion is alway alwayss a dominion over over our our self. self. We never never can can have have domin dominion ion over over each each other, other, the divorce rate proves how futile it is to try. try. The The failure failure of the variou variouss socialistic movements, movements, shows how impo imposs ssibl iblee it is. is. We neve neverr can have have dominio dominion n over each each other, other, we neve neverr can can have have domi domini nion on over over “anything” or “anybody.” “anybody.” But when when the the Bibl Biblee say says that that “God gave us dominion dominion over everything, everything, in the earth and above the earth and beneath the earth,” it means exactly that. It means means that that we have dominion over our consciousness, and and over over ever every ything thing within within our our conscio consciousne usness. ss. And since since the entire universe exists within our consciousne sciousness, ss, by having having dominio dominion n over ourselves—we automatically have have dominio dominion n overeve over every rythin thing g that that pertains to our lives. But this this domi domini nion on that that was was given to us in the beginning, we have completely lost: not partially lost, but completely completely lost. We have no dominion as “the human race” I’m speaking: we have no domin-

ion over the weather, over the climate, mate, over over foods, foods, germs, germs, storms. storms. We shou should ld have have,, but but we do not not have. have. And the the reason reason is that: that: dominion minion is some somethi thing ng that that we volun volun-tarily tarily surre surrend nder er for for a tempor temporar ary y moment of peace, it is exactly that which which happens happens in free free countri countries. es. The man most responsible for the fre freedoms tha that we have in the the United States, one of the men to whom we owe the most, Thomas Jeffe Jefferso rson, n, said said that that “Democracy must must in the end fail, that that people people will lose their freedoms—they will surrender them,” and and they they have. have. Gradually, bit by bit, we let somebody or other come along and take our freedoms from us, and always the reason is the same: a little temporary peace. An illustration of it is, someone has said that: “the power to tax is the the powe powerr to enslave,” and of course we’d never never believe believe that—so we’ve given our governmental authoritie thoritiess the power power to tax. tax. And of course “taxation” has has reall really y become... into the acquisition of our properties and freedoms. “Taxation” has become such now that it is no longer longer taxation taxation,, it is really the taking away of everything that an indivi individua duall can can have have abov abovee their their living. living. This we we surrend surrendere ered, d, not necessarily, but it was so easy just oh, it’ it’s a war measure,” to say, “oh, measure,” and there there it was. Evidentl Evidently y peace peace still hasn’t come, because they haven’t changed the taxes.
And so it is, you could go through one phase of your own life after another, and watch how you havesurr have surrendere endered d certain privileges, privileges, certain certain libertie liberties. s. Even Even in home home life, life, we do that same thing, that is, the human world does: if there’s one dominati dominating ng member member of a family family,, gradually gradually all the others will surrensurrender a little here and a little there, until that one is running the whole nest. Now... dominion is something that is given to us by God—and therefore, we always have it, it has neve neverr been been taken taken away away from from us. The only thing that has been taken away from us is “the exercise of our dominion”. . . that we have surrend surrendere ered. d. The dominio dominion n we still still have, and we can assert it—at any momen momentt that that it seems seems impor importan tantt enough enough to us. Not before, before, nobody nobody is going to assert their dominion because, because, it requires requires an effort. effort. And at this stage of experience a very vigorou vigorouss and continu continued ed effort, effort, until until we once more are in possession of our dominion. dominion. Now we do not want dominion over each other, let us immediately immediately get all ideas out of our head—that what we are seeking is dominion over over some someone one else, else, or domini dominion on over over something something else. else. The domindominion that we are seeking, seeking, is “a dominion minion over over our own universe,” and that means dominion over our own consciou consciousne sness: ss:wha whatt we accept accept as true or false.
Let us take the subject of “weather” or “climate.” Now in the present age as you know, the human race is subject to weather and climate, and it is for this reason, that there are colds and grippe and and flu, flu, and and many many othe otherr germ erm diseases—all beca becaus usee we have have give given n dominio dominion n to these. these. Now I can prove to you in two minutes, that that this this is unne unnece cessa ssary ry.. In the field field of Evangelical healing, they tell us that about 80 percent of the people who come to the healers for healing, have (I mean in England, this is). . . have some form of rheumatism tism or arthr arthriti itis. s. Now do you you know know that in the metaphysical metaphysical fields, and I don’t care which one of ’em it is, in the metaph metaphysi ysical cal fields—less than 5 percent are suffering from rheumatic rheumatic and arthritic conditions. conditions. The The reas reason on is, that that the very verymo mome ment nt an individual comes to any of the metaphysical metaphysical teachings, they begin to realize that: power doesn’t exist outsi outside de in matte matter; r; they they begi begin n to realize that power is in mind, or Spirit, Spirit, or God, or consciou consciousne sness. ss. And, And, autom automati atica cally lly withou withoutt any spec specifi ificc treatm treatmen ent, t, witho without ut any any s p e c i f i c t a k i n g thought—automatically they begin begin to fear fear weat weathe herr and and clim climat atee and and age age “less.” You You find find over over here here,, that that you “oh, I’m I’m hear hear it over over and and over over agai again n “oh, past past forty, forty, I’m getting getting rheuma rheuma-tism.” You hear very little of that in the metaphysical field, and almost most none none of it in our field. field. And when we do hear of it, it is mostly the new beginner. beginner. After a while, while, it seems seems to disappear disappear.. And the reareason, we don’t have any dominion over weather, we we don’t have any dominion over climate, we don’t h a v e a n y d o mi mi ni ni on on o v e r
germs—we have have domini dominion on over over our consciousness, and thereby we accept our consciousness as being authority, y, and dominion dominion:: power, authorit “all power is given unto me.” And automatically, automatically, we are withdrawing it from from weath weather, er, clima climate te,, germ germs. s. And the first thing you know, we are freer of those conditions than the rest of the world. Now remember, let no one tell you that we have control over the weather. weather. But, But, in our work work in The Infinite Way we have performed experime experiments, nts, where: where: tidal tidal waves waves and hurrica hurricanes nes have have been been predict predicted, ed, and and where where they they have have been been pred predict icted ed to strike a certain place, a certain time, and with certain force—and five successive times, these have dissolved before before they they struck. struck. Now let let no one one beli believ evee that that we have have dominion over tidal waves, or that w e h a v e d o m i ni n i on on o v e r storms—we have have dominion dominion over our our consc conscio ious usne ness ss.. We do not “give” in our our consc consciou iousne sness, ss, we do not give power to anything external to ourselves. ourselves. We acknowledge acknowledge that “all power is given unto me.” I have been give iven God-given dominion—and therefore, I do not acknowledge a power external to myse myself lf.. I ackn acknow owle ledg dgee that that all power is embodied in the Kingdom of God that is within me. Remember this, we are not getting egotistical—we are not saying that “I have have any any powe powers rs of my own, own, or any dominion dominion of my own.” We are saying that “we have dominion, n, so that: that: ifwe God-given dominio have have GodGod-gi give ven n domi domini nion on,, the the storm has none; if we have God-given dominion, the germ has none; none; if we have have God-g God-give iven n domindominion, the storm st orm has none.” Now again, you come back to the basic Page 2
word of The Infinite Infinite Way, which which is our our sacr sacred ed word word and and our our secr secret et word: “consciousness”. . . “consciousness.” If you you under understa stand nd that that God is infinite divine Consciousness, and that this Consciousness is your individual consciousness, consciousness, for God has given us all that we have: God has given us HIMSELF; God has breathed into us HIS life; God has given us HIS mind, HIS consciousness, HIS awareness, HIS dominion. dominion. Therefore, Therefore, if the Kingdom dom of God is within me—the Kingdom Kingdom of Domini Dominion on is within within me. Now I don’t want any dominion dominion over over you, I want want only only domini dominion on over over me. me. I want want the dominio dominion n to know: know: that that “nobody,” and “no thing,” and “no circumstance,” and “no condition,” has dominion over me—because I have dominion;; and since since the God-given dominion Kingdom Kingdom of God is is within within me—this dominion or power flows out from me, me, and and gove govern rnss my universe. Don’t forget, I’m not not intrud intruding ing into into your universe, universe, I’m not intruding intruding into your life, I’m not intruding. I’m making no laws for you, you, I’m making no rules for you, nor am I trying to take anything away from you. I am asserting “my God-given dominion” over “my universe!” And that sets you free, to have “your God-given God-given dominion” over “your universe.” And then then you will will find find,, tha thatt if if each each of us “assumes” our God-given dominion over over our universe—we will all be worki working ng togethe together. r. We will need need to take nothing from each other, but we can share with each other—everything that we have or everyt everything hing in our twelve twelve baskets baskets full that are always left over.
But But see what what a relati relation onshi ship p it makes, if I know: that “I and my Father are ONE , and all that the Fath Father er hath hath is mine”. . . now now I have have dominion over my supply. supply. Do you you see why I don’t don’t have to take away anybody’s supp supply ly?? Do you you see see why I can can leav leavee every everybod body y free free with their supply? supply? Because Because “ I and my Fath Father er are ONE , and and all all that that the the Father hath is mine”. . . and now I have dominion over my supply. Ah, but the moment I have dominion over my supply, I have so much that I love to share whatever it is I have, with those who have a need need of it. it. But then then as each each one, one, has that same dominion, they find themselves also with twelve baskets full left over—and since we don’t all have a supply of the same thing thing,, we all have have someth something ing to share with with each other. We’re all shari sharing ng love, love, but that that love love takes takes different forms. So you you see see that, that, in the subject subject of “dominion,” it is never to be confused with “domination.” It is the same way, when we come to such matters as “elections.” You know actuall actually, y, we have have dominion dominion over over what kind of a government we will have. But you can’t have that dominio minion n by going going outsid outsidee and and decid decid-ing ing who who you want want to ele elect, ct, and and then then forcing their election, if you have that power—for the simple reason that that after after [elec [elec]] they they are are elec elected ted they may not prove to be the right one. Politicians don’t always live up to the the prom promis isee of thei theirr camcampaigns. But, if we will assert our God-given dominion, by realizing: I don’t want any man to govern—I want want to reali realize ze “God’s government on earth as it is in heaven,” I want to real realize ize “God’s domini dominion on on
earth.” And cling to that, in your daily meditation meditation period for “world work,” and “gove “govern rnme ment nt work work,” ,” “national work.” Hold Hold to that that,, “that you are are not not choo choosi sing ng this this cancandidate or that, you are not determining which one is going to do the best, and so forth”. . . you are going to have God-government, you you are are going going to reali realize ze God’s government. And then what happens, if you actually do hold to this, you will discover that those nearest representative of good government, will be the ones ones elected. elected. It may not not be one entire party, but it can be the best out of two parties or three parties, so that eventually—your e ventually—your fate isn’t in the hands of a party, and your fate isn’t in the hands of certain men. You continue continue to realize, realize, “I must be God-governed, I recognize nize and and reali realize ze only only God’s government on earth, even God’s government of men.” And then you will witness not only a different type of person personge gettin tting g into govern governmen ment, t, but you’ll find that those who get in come come more more-or-less—under the government of a wisdom higher than their their own, own, even even thoug though h at times times they don’t know why. This This does does not not mean mean that that you have any dominion over them, and you don’t want any any.. Your domin domin-ion is over over your your own consc consciou iousne sness ss of government, your own awareness ness of gove govern rnme ment nt,, your our own own choice of government. government. And theretherefore, you’re not not choos choosing ing who shall shall govern me—you are merely merely chooschoosing how how you shall shall be governe governed. d. And then, as a miracle will reveal to you, you, even eventua tually lly,, no matte matterr who’s elected—you will will find find your yoursel self f free, or at least more free of intolerable erable conditio conditions, ns, than you you have Page 3
ever ever been before. before. But rememb remember, er, your dominion does not extend to anyb anybod ody y or anyt anythin hing g exter externa nall to yourself. I may at this point say to you... “that one one of the the grea greatt mist mistak akes es made by the Hebrews, was in believing that Jesus was going to be their king.” Now, Now, the Hebre Hebrews ws were no different than we are, we always always want a king... a ruler. ruler. If we could could have have it, we’d all all pref prefer er to have have a dict dictat ator or,, as huma humans ns.. .... for for the the same reason: it’s so easy easy to let let “the father in Washington” decide what we shoul should d have have,, rathe ratherr than than to think think it through and vote intelligently. And so it is that gradually, the govern governmen mentt in the United United States States has has been been take taken n over over by a litt little le group group of men, men, and and while while the peop people le think they still have their freedom and their vote—you’d be surprised how little of their own way that they they get. get. And the reas reason on is, that that they they have have surre surrende ndere red, d, little little by little, little, their their jurisdic jurisdiction tion,, their their dominion—by just letting somebody else else thin think k for for them them and and act act for for them. Now, we do not have to go out and make the mistake of the Hebrews, and believe that we want a king, or we are going out and enforce these few men to govern us, becaus becausee we like them. them. Nor are we in our our spir spirit itua uall work work goin going g to set set up any tempora temporall kingdom kingdoms. s. No! “ MY Kingdom is not of this world,” and I am not seeking any jurisdiction over our government or your government or any government in the world. world. All I want is is dominion dominion over over my own consciousness to the extent, that every day I want at least one [mediter [mediteri] i] meditat meditation ion period, period, if it’s only only for for three three minut minutes, es, in which which to realize: realize: “thank you Father, I am
God-gover God-governed, ned, God-main God-maintain tained, ed, God-su God-susta staine ined, d, and and this this is the spiri spiri-tual Truth about everyone in our land land and and on our our globe.” In this this way way I have dominion, and I assert my God-given dominion over my invisible world. world. And this always always has has the effect of operatin operating g in human human experience for the universal good. In the the same same way way, why why shou should ld we perm permit it anyo anyone ne to deter determin minee the amount of our supply? Why shoul should d we allow allow a commi committe tteee to decide how much we should earn? Why Why? Why Why, do they they love love us so much that they want to give us so much? Hardly, Hardly, hardly. hardly. Now you have dominion over your supply, not by going out and fighting for it, not by unionizing and striking f or or it—this is not the suppl supply y in the spirit spiritual ual world world,, this this is not the way of supply in the spiritual world. world. Those Those are the huma human n weapons, that have been forged for humans—who have no knowledge knowledge of spiritual spiritual power. But if you you have knowledge of spiritual power, you don’t have ye still.” have to fight, fight, “stand ye And then begin to realize: “God is the source of my supply; God is infinite, the source is infinite, the flow is infinite; I and my Father are ONE , all that the Father hath is mine; by inheritance I am heir of God, I am joint-heir to all of the heavenly riches.” Do you not see I am asserting my dominion, my God-given dominion over supply? supply? And yet, yet, I’m not trying to take any away from you, I’m not trying to take away from my neighbor—I am asserting my spiritual right, to the infinite suppl supply y of God. God. Then Then I just just watch watch it as it unfolds on the human plane, and and even eventu tual ally ly if I hold hold to this this,, main mainta tain in my spir spirit itua uall domi dominn-

Something Something must increas increasee to brin bring g an incr increa ease se,, beca becaus usee it is “God “God’s ’s Will Will”. ”. . . that we have abund abundan ance ce and and that that we have have twelve twelve baskets left over to share with others. Probab Probably ly,, we lose lose part part of our dominion, by thinking in terms of “yesterday’s manna,” or “yesterday’s avenue avenue of supply,” of supply,” or “yester day’s limitation limitation of supply”. . . instead of taking each day as it comes, and realizing: realizing: “this is the day the Lord hath made, this is the day in which I and my Father are ONE , this is the day in which all that the Father hath is mine”. . . and living each each day day in that that consc consciou iousne sness. ss. Then eventually watching how the flow begins to start in our direction. It is the same in business, in the huma human n worl world, d, it is a high highly ly comp compet et-itive itive thing thing,, this this busin busines esss thing thing.. And for that reason, a business has become to a great extent “dishonest,” in its advertising, in its products—these things never live up to the full promise that’s made made.. And the answer answer always always is that “well, business, competition, competition, it’s necessary.” Probably so on the human plane, those are the human weapons that have been forged. But not on the spiritual plane. On the spiritual plane where you realize, “God’s government of business,” you’ll soon find, and businessmen do find—how their business changes, how it increases: not by running around to take somebody else’s away from them—but by the normal expansion that must come to those who are spiritually led. If only only you coul could d see see in our our litt little le Page 4

Not Not mere merely ly for ourourselves, we’ve just just gotte gotten n a little little share of it—but how how supply supply has increased through the tape recording work. work. Do you you know that, that, just just in our our own own litt little le work work,, the the tape tape record recording ingwor work k goes goes into thousan thousands ds and and thousa thousand ndss of pound poundss a year year.. And, that the tape recording manumanufacturers benefit by it, the workers in the tape recording field benefit by it, the tape makers benefit by it, the the post post offi office cess bene benefi fitt by it. it. If you could know the the thou housands nds of pounds that are spent each year for postage, you would see how everyone benefits by —not taking business from someone else, but creating a new new industry. industry. And what what has resulte resulted d is, that there there are now thouthousands sands of chur church ch group groupss maki making ng tape recordings, recordings, and mailing ’em all over the world to each other—just as we star starte ted d when when tape tape recorders recorders were first brought brought out. It has has open opened ed up a whol wholee new new field of earnings for people, without taking away away from from anybod anybody, y, their their busibusiness—creating new business. So it is in every field... it isn’t only that we have created a monthly Letter, that now has a department in the States, and has a department here, and has a departcreatin g new ment ment in Germany—all creating busi busine ness ss.. But But now now I notic noticee that that other metaphysical movements are having monthly letters. And so it is that business inthe crea creati tion on of new new creases by the ideas. Well, of course course the monthly monthly Letter idea was a new one, the tape thing thing was a new one. And, do you you think that my Father hasn’t got a milli illio on othe otherr new new ide ideas? Of course! course! God is infini infinite, te, and and if we go back back into into consc consciou iousne sness, ss, we will will
bring forth as many new ideas as need—without going we need—without going aroun around d and taking away from somebody else’s already created business. But, there comes the matter of dominio dominion. n. How do we come come to the new idea of a monthly Letter, or the new new idea idea of tape tape reco recordi rding ngss circling the the globe? Through medimeditation, tation, daily daily meditat meditation. ion. And eveneventually, tually, somethi something ng comes comes forth forth from from within—and a new activi tivity ty is started, and another activity comes forth forth,, or anoth another er activ activity ity come comess forth. forth. So it it is. Ther Theree are are more more new new idea ideass in your your conscio consciousne usness ss at this moment, moment, that that have have ever ever been been brou brough ghtt forth forth in the thousa thousand ndss of years ears that that men men have been on earth. All of ’em put together could not equal what you have in undiscovered talents and ideas ideas within within you. you. But, But, how how are are you you to brin bring g them them forth forth?? Only Only by a conscious effort, only as you assume dominion, and sit down each day and realize: “God constitutes myconscio myconsciousne usness, ss, infinityis infinityis within within my conscio consciousne usness, ss, and I must must open out out a way way for for the the impr impris ison oned ed sple splenndor to escape.” I don’t know what day day the lightn lightning ing will will strike strike,, I don’t know what day day you’ll bring forth some some new new idea idea in teac teachi hing ng,, or some some new idea in mechanics, or some new new idea idea in disco discove very ryor or scien science ce,, or relig religion ion.. But But one one thing thing is certa certain, in, it would would be impossible for you to turn into your your conscio consciousne usness, ss, every every day day for for a year—and not find something thing new flowin flowing g out from from it. It would would be utterly utterly imposs impossible ible!! Because, cause, God constitut constitutes es your your conconsciousness, your consciousness is infinite. But unless you assume dominion over your time, and take three or four or five minutes a day, to go
into your consciousness and let it Lord Thy serva servant nt flow: “speak Lord heareth, speak Lord Thy servant heareth.” Only Only a few few minute minutess each each day, and I can assure you a year could could not not pass—without some some new new idea idea unfo unfold ldin ing, g, some some new new way way openin opening g up, some some new new supplymansupplymanifesting in your your experience. experience. It has to be—from the infinite nature of your own consciousness. Now remember, it doesn’t do you any good to say “God is infinite.” It is only when you come to the realization that the infinity of embodie died d in you: you: “Son thou God is embo art always with ME , and all that I have have is thine;” or, “I have have meat meat the world knows not of”. . . I have have new new ideas in me, I have new sources of supply supply in me, me, I have have new new domini dominion on in me, new new Grace in me. Each day day the manna must fall fresh: I do not have to rely on yesterday’s manna, I do not have have to rely on yesterday’s way of earning a living, I do not have to rely on yesterday’s anything. Every moment of every every day day is fresh fresh,, and and every everymo mome ment nt of ever every y day contains God. Ahh but you see see, if we do not not “consciously turn” in that direction, it is of no avail avail to us. If we do not not assert assert our dominion... we will not have it. It is the same same way in our homes, homes, as humans—we could could all all be dissat dissat-isfie isfied d with with our our homes homes,, with with our mates, with our children, with our parents. parents. Certainly Certainly human human faults faults are abun abunda dant nt.. And And even eventu tual ally ly,, we could let all of these have enough domi domini nion on over over us to make make our our live livess miserabl miserable. e. But if we want domindominion, over our own peace, we must asser assertt that, that, by going going within within and realizing: God Government in my home, God’s Love in my family. Not my love, not human love, not Page 5
my wife’s love, love, not my children’s love. They They may have have it, they may may not not have have it—but I can’t be boun bound d or limit limited ed by whet whethe herr or not not they they have. I must go go within and be be sure that I have God’s Love Love!! When When I am sure that I have God’s Love, every member of my family is an instrum instrument ent through through which which God’s flows—and I am the instruLove flows—and ment ment through through which which God’s Love flows to them. Then Then they they don’t have have to be whether er my nature nature is bound by wheth good or bad, or my generosity is little or big. They are governed governed by God’s Grace Grace,, not my good goodwil will; l; and and I am gove govern rned ed by God’s Grace, Grace, and not not by [any [anyone one]] what what anyo anyone ne wants wants to give me or withhold from me. But if I do not [assume] assert that dominion dominion,, and subject myself myself to God’s Love, Grace—I’ll ’ll Love, and God’s Grace—I have nothing but human love and human grace, and sometimes that will not be be sufficie sufficient. nt. Because Because that is the history of the human race: it loves to get, it hates to give. It’s only as natures natures become become “spiritualized,” that we think less of getting and more of giving. giving. But how does a nature nature become become spiritualized? spiritualized? By h av av in i n g G od o d -d - d om om in i n io i o n a nd nd God-Gr God-Grac acee and God-L God-Love ove.. Not complai complaining ning about about somebody’s lack of human love, but by accepting God’s Love. But this is all an act of consciousnes sciousness. s. We must assum assumee domini minion on over over what what we acce accept pt or reject reject in consci consciousn ousness. ess. And, by assuming God’s Government, God’s Grace, God’s Love, God’s infinity infini ty of supply—we free ourselves of man-made conditions, in the home, in the community, in the nation, nation, and ultimatel ultimately y in the world. world. But always remember, God’s do-
