Industry Trends McGraw-Hill Construction research shows that, in the face of an economic recession, BIM users expect to significantly ramp up their investment in BIM in 2009.
Companies who are actively tracking BIM return on investment are showing initial BIM ROIs of 300 to 500% on projects where BIM was used. Owners currently have limited opportunities to use BIM for operations and maintenance purposes. As those capabilities develop, BIM use among owners will increase significantly.
Governm Gov ernment ent BIM / FM Initi Initiati atives ves GSA
- was the first first government government organizatio organization n to lead the US government into BIM and had a primary role in promoting BIM in the entire industry. They remain today a leader in the initiative, continually breaking new ground.
US Army
- The Corps of Engineers Engineers with the support of their laboratories are transforming to the use of BIM and is are primary players in the industry transformation with products such as COBIE.
US Coast Guard
- has also been a leader leader amon among g govern governmen mentt agencies and have pioneered the linking of mission to facilities and use of facility information during the operations and sustainment phases of the lifecycle.
