Program note Tere are times o stability in lie, and times o significant transition. ransitions can be upsetting, ofen provoked or accompanied by physical or emotional troubles. Tey are times o uncertainty and unknowing, but also the times o g reatest creative change. On Tis Bright Morning acknowledges the struggle, and the eelings o pain and loss in times o transition, but embodies the pure joy o realizing the bigger lie. On this bright morning, li e is new, lie is possible. Te ollowing is rom a Bill Moyers interview with poet Jane Kenyon, who suffered rom chronic depression and died o leukemia at age : Yes, there are things in lie that we must endure that are all but unendurable, and yet I eel that there is a great goodness. Why, when there could have been nothing, is there something? How, when there could have been nothing, does it happen that there is love, kindness, beauty? (December )
