Overview o f A R 19-1X Series Routers
1.1
Introduction to Products
Quidway AR 19-1X series routers (hereafter referred to as the Quidway AR 19-1X series) belong to Quidway AR 1900 series routers family. The Quidway AR 1900/2900/4900 series router is a new generation of the AR series router of Huawei after Huawei has successfully developed the R series and the AR 18/28/46 series router. The routers in this series have incorporated all-round upgrades and enhancements based on the hardware and software of the original router products, having greatly improved the cost effectiveness of the router products and their ability to integrate multiple services. This series is also divided into three series: AR 1900, AR 2900, and AR 4900, moving up one after another along the value chain. AR 1900 and AR 2900 series routers can be used as edge access of major networks and networks of the operators, as the core routers for branch offices or small businesses. AR 4900 series routers can be used as the core routers of the networks of large and medium-sized enterprises, or as the edge or converged access equipment for major networks or networks of the operators. Quidway AR 1900/2900/4900 series routers use the network operating system platform of Huawei (VRP V5). The network operating system fully supports software features of the existing R series and AR 18/28/46 series products, providing backup solutions based on the backup center technology and VRRP, MPLS L3/L2 VPN, ADSL access, PPPoE Server/Client, IP multi-cast, and Quality of Service (QoS). At the same time, the VRP V5 operating system also fully supports IPv6 protocol and various other features. In addition, the hardware and software of AR 1900/2900/4900 series routers meet international standards, which ensures the interconnection with products from other vendors at different levels and can protect the existing investment of the users to the maximum extent possible. AR 1900 series routers are the low-end products of the new generation of the AR series routers. They are inferior to AR 2900/4900 series products in terms of the transmission performance, the encryption performance, and the interface density, mainly targeting SMBs, Internet cafes, government organizations, and branch offices in special industries. AR 1900 series routers support a wide range of optional interfacing modules, offering the flexibility and scalability in networking. This document describes configurations of Quidway AR 19-10, Quidway AR 19-10-W, Quidway AR 19-13-I, Quidway AR 19-13-IW, Quidway AR 19-15-I, and Quidway AR 19-15-IW. Quidway AR 19-10, Quidway AR 19-10-W, Quidway AR 19-13-I, Quidway AR 19-13-IW, Quidway AR 19-15-I, and Quidway AR 19-15-IW routers are boxes with 1U height. Quidway AR 19-10, Quidway AR 19-10-W, Quidway AR 19-13-I, Quidway AR 19-13-IW, Quidway AR 19-15-I, and Quidway AR 19-15-IW are the same in physical dimension, and those ended with "W" support WLAN function. Based on Quidway AR 19-10, Quidway AR 19-13-I is added with a 4-line G.SHDSL upstream interface and Quidway AR 19-15-I is added with one ADSL2+ upstream interface. Quidway AR19-1X has only one SIC/DSIC slot, so one SIC/DSIC can be configured on one router. The interface module available for Quidway AR 19-1X can also be used in the SIC slot of AR 19-61, AR29-01/21/41, and AR49-45 routers.

1.7
Overall Conf igu ration Princi ple of t he Quidway AR 19-1X Series
The Quidway AR 19-1X Series is the modular router, and can be configured with various interface modules as needed. The Quidway AR 19-1X Series has one SIC/DSIC slot and is available for one SIC/DSIC card. For details, refer to "9 Appendix: Slot Restriction for Host Interface Card". The structure of the current product list of the Quidway AR 19-1X series can accommodate the following two sales models: 1. Sale through agents This mode mainly refers to the contract with the distributors or the upgrade of the existing configuration. In this situation, the configuration is relatively simple. You only need to choose corresponding hosts, interface modules, and cables according to the contract for configuration. The configurations of hosts, interface modules, and cables are independent of each other. The operators need not consider the relationship between hosts, interface modules, and cables. 2. Tie-in sale with other products of the company In this model, the Quidway AR 19-1X series and other products of the company can be sold in networking applications. In this case, the salesperson just needs to select the needed host, interface modules and cables according to the contract, but they also need to consider the corresponding relationship between the host and its interfaces and cables. This mode also applies to the sporadic distribution of goods to customers. Some of the basic configuration principles are as follows: Important: The orders for the host of the Quidway AR 19-1X series must be coded and placed in the 0235xxxx category, not the 0105xxxx or 0303xxxx category. The orders for various SIC interface modules and VPM modules must be coded and placed in the 0231xxxx category, not in the 0105xxxx or 0303xxxx category. The interface modules for the Quidway AR 19-1X series need to be configured according to the specific requirement of the order. Multiple kinds of interface modules can be used for the Quidway AR 19-1X series. These interface modules can also be used for the AR 19-16, AR29-01/21/41, AR49-45 routers. In addition, there will also be new interface modules coming out one after another to meet different needs of the users. The Quidway AR 19-1X can accommodate one SIC interface modules and one VPM module at most. The configurations of cables are directly related to the interface modules. The relationship is described in details later. The Quidway AR 19-1X Series is a standard configuration. In product configuration, only cables with standard lengths need to be provided. There is no need for a field survey when selling through agents. However, a field survey is required when selling together with other products of the company. In this case, the requirements raised cannot be met through the configuration of the Quidway AR 19-1X series, but through the configuration of other products. The input range of the AC power supply for the Quidway AR 19-1X series is 100V AC to 240V AV, 50Hz to 60Hz. Therefore, the product can also be used in places where the 110V AC power supply is used.

The accessories delivered are subject to the host. The normal delivery and configuration are not necessary to consider the accessory. If the host is confirmed, the corresponding accessories are attached (including the documents and the CDs). The intention of the list in this version is to make all the interface modules and hosts the ATO items (AI) separately packed. The interface modules and the hosts will be delivered completely separated, similar to the sales of computer accessories. The purpose is mainly to accommodate the distribution of mid-to-low range routers to simplify production testing and debugging, improving market response speed.
1.8
Overall Conf igur ation Descri pti on of the Quidway AR 19-1X Series
Overall configuration description: 1. For the configuration of hosts and modules, the lists prepared by the marketing and configuration personnel only need to reach the level of hosts and modules, and they don’t need to care about the stuff below the level of hosts (main boards) and modules. The reason is that the contents of each kind of host (main board) and module are fixed and are ATO items. The code of a host (main board) or a module can contain all the contents inside. 2. For optional cables, the configuration can go down further in detail. Refer to the description of cable configuration in the text below. 3. The Quidway AR 19-1X series is configurable, and the host is powered by the AC power supply. The input voltage range for the host is AC 100V-240V/50-60Hz, so the product can be used in countries or regions where the grid voltage is 110V. 4. The code and description of the AC power supply for the Quidway AR 19-1X series are as below: 0213A00C item description: Primary Power Supply-10degC-55degC-90Vac-264Vac-12V/2.2A 5. In distribution model, the quantity of the interface modules is determined based on the requirements of users, and no longer specifically corresponds to the host. However, for the internal bundled sales within the company, the corresponding relationship between the host and the modules still needs to be considered. For the Quidway AR 19-1X series, the quantity of the optional interface modules is only one. The interface modules usually need to have corresponding cables (they can also do without cables depending on the requirements of the users). For details on configuration of specific interface modules, refer to the section on the module configuration. 6. When in configuration, the choice needs to be made by considering two sales models, that is, distribution and tie-in sales. 7. AUX cables are not included in the list. Special delivery can be arranged if they are specifically needed. 8. The host of the Quidway AR 19-1X has a USB port, and can accommodate a USB flash memory. The USB flash memory is put directly under code 0105, and the users can select USB flash memories with different capacities according to their needs. 9. The accessories delivered are subject to the host. The normal delivery and configuration are not necessary to consider the accessory. If the host is confirmed, the corresponding accessories are attached (including the documents and the CDs). The configuration of the router is explained as follows from four aspects, that is, the host, the modules, the cables, the optical fibers.

To accommodate the distribution model of the product, the host is made into an ATO item with fixed composition, and the inventory can be made directly. Therefore, for configuration and marketing personnel, they can just directly select the host needed under item 0105A09M. Important: the orders for the host of the Quidway AR 19-1X series must be coded and placed in the 0235xxxx category, not the 0105xxxx or 0303xxxx category. Specific configuration description is as follows: 1. The main board of the Quidway AR 19-1X series is fixed inside the chassis, and cannot be delivered separately. The total normative capacity of the memory on the main board is 256 MB. 2. The host of the Quidway AR 19-1X series is an ATO item, and all the items in it must be configured. 3. For orders under the distribution model and the tie-in model, the salespersons first need to select the types of the hosts according to the requirements of the orders or the plans, that is, to select the hosts according to the models of the routers. 4. The input voltage range for the host of the Quidway AR 19-1X series is AC 100V-240V/50-60Hz, so the product can be used in countries or regions where the grid voltage is 110V. 2009-03-05

5. To facilitate production and distribution, each kind of host is packed separately and put in the package of the entire machine of the router during delivery. The selected modules are not inserted in the host either, but packed separately. All the expandable slots of the host are installed with false parts to replace the real ones. The selected modules should be installed and tested by the distributors before they are delivered to the end users. If the tie-in sales are performed by the customer service personnel, when deliveries are made to the users directly, the modules will be installed by the distributors or the users themselves. The main idea is to take reference to the sales model of computers and their accessories, in which the separately supplied accessories can be installed by the users. 6. The quantity of the hosts of the Quidway AR 19-1X series is configurable. 7. The power supply of the Quidway AR 19-1X series is put within the chassis and goes with the host, no need to be delivered separately. 8. The accessories delivered are decided by the host. The normal deliver and configuration are not necessary to consider the accessory. If the host is confirmed, the corresponding accessories are attached (including the documents and the CDs). The composition of each type of host is essentially the same, namely, the chassis of the general assembly, the accessories delivered, the complete set of packing materials, the necessary cables, the false parts serving as handlers, as well as the labels. For general configuration and marketing personnel, they only need to reach the host level without going down further.

Configuration of SIC Interface Module for the Quid way AR 19-1X Series To facilitate production and distribution, all the interface modules of the Quidway AR 19-1X series are made into ATO items. Meantime, all the interface modules include the corresponding packing materials. Normally, they are not directly installed on the host during delivery, but separately packed, shipped together with the host or separately. Generally, the configuration of the interface modules includes two parts: the first is the selection of the interface modules, and the second is the selection of the electric and optical fibers. If selling by distributors, you do not need to consider the corresponding relationship between cables and optical fibers. However, for bundling model and direct delivery to the users, the types and quantities of the single-board electric and optical fibers need to be determined according to the features of the circuits and the number of the interfaces, after selecting corresponding interface modules. In other words, selection needs to be made in the external cable set (04000077) and external optical fibers suite (04100053). Important: the orders for the interface module of the Quidway AR 19-1X series must be coded and placed in the 0231xxxx category, not the 0305xxxx, 0303xxxx, or 0302xxxx category. The interface modules of the Quidway AR 19-1X series mainly include the SIC interface modules and the built-in VPM card modules. The detailed configuration of each interface module is described below.
4.1
Config uratio n o f the RT-SIC-1GEC Interface Modul e
RT-SIC-1GEC is the SIC module for 1-port 10M/100M/1000M electrical interface and optical Ethernet interface of the Quidway AR 1900/2900/4900 series router, providing one RJ45 electric port and one SFP optical port to the outside. It can work independently in the electrical interface mode or in the optical interface mode. When the two modes exist simultaneously, the electrical interface takes priority. When working in the optical port mode, the SFP optical module needs to be selected and purchased separately. Because only one socket for the SFP optical module is delivered without the optical module along (the optical module is shipped separately). When the electrical interface is used, the module has two operating modes, namely full-duplex and half-duplex, and the full-duplex mode is more commonly used. The configuration list of the RT-SIC-1GEC module is shown in the table below: Table 8

04027102 single cable-hub to server straight-through network cable-3.00m-(network interface 8bit-I)-(CC4P0.5 gray)-(network interface 8 bit-I)-C&C08C Each of the interfaces of the 1GEC module has two ports for receiving and transmitting respectively. Therefore, optical fibers must be selected in pairs. In other words, each interface should select two optical fibers. (Only one optical fiber is needed when the BIDI optical module is selected.) The types of connectors (the module side is LC/PC), the length and the modes of the optical modules (single-mode/multi-mode) need to be considered for cables selection. Currently, there are six types of single-mode optical fibers and five types of multi-mode optical fibers available for the 1GEC module. They need to be selected from the optical fiber suite, as shown in the two tables below. Table 10

When cables with BNC connectors (codes are 04026106, 04040148, and 04040149) are selected, you still need to select two coaxial connectors (14040202) for each E1 interface based on the 1:2 ratio in accordance with the number of the cables. This is to facilitate the users or the customer service personnel to extend the length of the cables. When cables with the RJ45 crystal connectors (codes are 04026104, 04040150, and 04040151) are selected, you still need to select one more RJ45 connector (14080099) for each E1 interface based on the 1:1 ratio in accordance with the number of the cables. The above two categories of cables are optional, and need to be purchased separately. The choice must be made when configuring the E1 module. Because RT-SIC-1E1-F and RT-SIC-EPRI provide one E1 port respectively, each module needs to select one cable (or one pair of cables). 04026813 is used for conversion between 120 Ω and 75Ω resistance for the E1 cables. You can select it if needed. Generally, our interface modules already support both 120 Ω and 75Ω resistance, so you are not recommended to use resistance conversion for the circuit matching. 3. RT-SIC-1E1-F and RT-SIC-EPR have an 8-bit DIP switch within them. By default, all the 8 bits are ON, indicating the 75 Ω unbalanced coaxial cable (such as 04026106) is selected. To select the 120 Ω balanced and unshielded twisted pair (such as 04026104), the DIP switch should be switched to OFF. For details, refer to Installation Manual of Quidway AR 1900 Series Routers.

When cables with BNC connectors (codes are 04026106, 04040148, and 04040149) are selected, you still need to select two coaxial connectors (14040202) for each RT-SIC-1VE1 interface based on the 1:2 ratio in accordance with the number of the cables. This is to facilitate the users or the customer service personnel to extend the length of the cables. When cables with the RJ45 crystal connectors (codes are 04026104, 04040150, and 04040151) are selected, you still need to select one more RJ45 connector (14080099) for each RT-SIC-1VE1 interface based on the 1:1 ratio in accordance with the number of the cables. This is to facilitate the users or the customer service personnel to extend the length of the cables. The above two categories of cables are optional, and need to be purchased separately. The choice must be made when configuring the RT-SIC-1VE1 module. Because the RT-SIC-1VE1 module provides one E1 port, each module needs to select one cable. 04026813 is used for conversion between 120 Ω and 75Ω resistance for the RT-SIC-1VE1 cables. You can select it if needed. Generally, our interface modules already support both 120Ω and 75Ω resistance, so you are not recommended to use resistance conversion for the circuit matching. 5. The RT-SIC-1VE1 module has an 8-bit DIP switch. By default, all the 8 bits are ON, indicating the 75Ω unbalanced coaxial cable (such as 04026106) is selected. To select the 120Ω balanced unshielded twisted pair (such as 04026104), the DIP switch should be switched to OFF.

[Note]: As the receiving and transmitting bands of the two optical modules (02315285 and 02315286) need to match each other, therefore, the two ends of communications need to be used in pairs. 4. The optical cable used by the 1FEF module need be selected from the external optical fiber suite. Each of the interfaces of the 1FEF module has two ports for receiving and transmitting respectively. Therefore, optical fibers must be selected in pairs. In other words, each interface should select two optical fibers. The types of connectors (the module side is LC), the length and the modes of the optical modules (single-mode/multi-mode) need to be considered for cables selection. Currently, there are six types of single-mode optical fibers and five types of multi-mode optical fibers available for the 1FEF module. They need be selected from the optical fiber suite, as shown in the two tables below.

Configuration description: 1. First, it should be clarified that the Quidway AR 19-1X series adopts a standard configuration in production and delivery; in other words, we only provide cables with the standard length, not the special length. There is no need for a field survey when selling through agents. However, a field survey is needed when selling together with other products of the company. In this case, the requirements raised should not be met through the list of the Quidway AR 19-1X series, and instead, such requirements should be accommodated through the configuration of other products. 2. The cables are closely related to the corresponding interface modules in the application. As for the distribution model of the agent, the configuration personnel can ignore the corresponding relation with the interface module. However, the marketing personnel need know the general application scenario for the regular cable. For bundling model and direct delivery to the users, you need know the corresponding cable selection for the correct interface module. 3. When the E1 cable with BNC connector on one end (and DB15 connector on the other), like 04026106, 04040148, 04040149, is selected, you still need to select two coaxial connectors (14040202) for each cable based on the 1:2 ratio. This is to facilitate the users or the customer service personnel to extend the length of the E1 cable. 4. When the E1 cable with RJ45 connector on one end (and DB15 connector on the other), like 04026104, 04026105, 04040150, 04040151, is selected, you still need to select one RJ45 connectors (14080099) for each cable based on the 1:1 ratio. This is to facilitate the users or the customer service personnel to extend the length of the E1 cable. 5. Note that for the Quidway AR 19-1X series, the host of the router has one AUX port and two Ethernet ports, however, no corresponding AUX port cable or Ethernet cable is in the host configuration. Therefore, proper AUX port cable and Ethernet cable need be considered in the solution design. 6. The types and quantities of the optional cables are related to the interface modules.

Configuration FAQ
8.1 Although the routers have standard configurations without the need of on-site survey, in some of the bundled sales contracts, survey report is needed and some special requirements on the cable length are specified, especially the E1 cable. How to handle it? Although we have emphasized repeatedly that the delivery of the mid-range-and-low-end routers should be prepared in standard configuration, however, in the tie-in sales, on-site survey is needed, and some special requirements may be posed. Here mainly concerns the cable length requirement. Take the length of the E1 cable as an example. The standard lengths of the cables we provided are 3m, 20m, and 40m. If the users require the length of 10m or 50m, the requirement cannot be satisfied in the product list directly. One end of the E1 cable of the router is always DB15, and the other end may be BNC or RJ45 according to the actual needs. Generally, unlike other products, this router cannot adopt the method of directly extending the length of the E1 cable. Here we suggest the following methods: We have mentioned in the earlier section of the configuration manual that when the E1 cable with BNC connector on one end (and DB15 connector on the other), like 04026106, 04040148, 04040149, is selected, you still need to select two coaxial connectors (14040202) for each cable based on the 1:2 ratio. This is to facilitate the users or the customer service personnel to extend the length of the E1 cable. When the E1 cable with RJ45 connector on one end (and DB15 connector on the other), like 04026104, 04026105, 04040150, 04040151, is selected, you still need to select one RJ45 connectors (14080099) for each cable based on the 1:1 ratio. This is to facilitate the users or the customer service personnel to extend the length of the E1 cable." The addition of the two connectors 14040202 and 14080099 is to facilitate the extension of the length of the E1 cable. For non-standard E1 cable, it is necessary to solve it by adopting standard length cable + connector + customized length of cable. The connection relationship is shown in the following figure. Figure 13 Extension of 75Ω E1 cable DB15 SMA-SMB
Cable 1
Router
DDN BNC male
BNC male BNC connector Cable 2 (14040202)
Cable 1 is the standard item in the configuration list, cable 2 is the non-standard cable, while BNC is the connector to connect cable 1 and cable 2. When the 75 Ω E1 cable is used, the receiving/transmitting lines are separated, and therefore, two BNC connectors are needed.

Cable 1 is the standard item in the configuration list, cable 2 is the non-standard cable, while RJ45 is the connector to connect cable 1 and cable 2. When the 120 Ω E1 cable is used, only one RJ45 connector is needed.
8.2
The users complain that there is not any document in the package of the newly purchased E1 voice module, so they do not know how to use it. As the host and the modules of a router are all ATO items (AI) and are delivered separately, each module has a packing box of itself, and in international deliveries, there are multiple types of SIC interface modules and two types of ESM modules. The varieties will keep increasing in the future. At first, we considered including corresponding documents in the packing boxes of the modules, but this would add 20 codes. Meanwhile, we see that the sales of all the routers including the modules are through the distributors, who will assemble and test the routers. Therefore, the products are not sent to the users directly. On the other hand, we have considered the consistency of the installation of the modules as much as possible. In other words, different types of the modules do not lead to significant difference in the installation methods. Besides, the modules will not be used without the host, and we have already included detailed installation manuals and CD-ROMs as accessories to the host in the delivery, which contains the installation and usage instructions for all the modules and software features. We are also watching on this issue and evaluating the impact of the current method in actual operations. In the future, we may add one more CD-ROM in the package containing some necessary information for all the modules, but this will increase the cost.
8.3
The optical fibers that the marketing personnel promised to the customers are too long that we cannot find them in the configuration list. How can we do with it? The same is as the configuration of the E1 and other cables. Generally, the configuration of the mid-range-and-low-end routers has only standard optical fibers, without the on-site survey. However, in some cases, on-site survey is needed. In this case, the length of the fiber optical fibers in the list may not be able to meet the requirements of the contract. In this case, you need to follow the Configuration Specifications of Ultra-long Haul Optical Fibers of Datacom Products of the company. Parts of the specifications are as follows: In the order, it should follow strictly the optical fiber length and connectors specified in the on-site survey and make them optional items in the configuration list. If there are no suitable items in the optical fiber suite, follow the principles below for configuration. 2009-03-05

1. If the optical fibers and connectors specified in the on-site survey are within the configuration list, but the types are not right, the upward principle is adopted, with deviation of less than 5m. For example, if the survey requires Optical connector-MTRJ-2SC/PC-multi-mode-2mm parallel-45m However, in the actual list, there connector-MTRJ-2SC/PC-multi-mode-2mm-parallel-50m

Then, you may choose 14130243. 2. The connectors that the survey report requires are in the list, but the length is not right. The deviation is over 5m and the upward principle is adopted. The delivery configuration should use the code that best fits the length as much as possible, specifying the actual length needed so that the coordinator can notify the purchasing personnel to make special purchases. 3. The length of the fibers that the survey requires is in the list, but the fiber connectors are not right.
