AIM TO UNDERSTAND THE TRUE ESSENCE OF ANY SUBJECT, WE NEED TO GET ITS ROOTS, ITS BASICS, THE !ERY IMPORTANT PARAMETERS THAT GO!ERN AND DIRECT THE COURSE OF ITS PROGRESS AND DE!ELOPMENT. ARCHITECTURE IS NO DIFERENT, WHICH MAY SOMETIMES SEEM INFINITELY COMPLEX AND EXTRA!AGANT TO THE LAYMAN, BUT IT IS INFACT WHEN BROKEN DOWN INTO ITS SKELETAL FORM, SHED OF ALL ITS CLOTHING AND MAKEUP, IS AN IMAGINATI!E COMPOSITION OF INFINITE PLATES THAT E!ENTUALLY CREATE THE SPACE THAT WE MAR!EL. I THUS PROPOSE TO DESIGN A SPACE, A CAMPUS THAT WILL USE MINIMAL HUMAN MANMADE INTER!ENTION PURPOSE;THIS STRUCTURE WOULD ALSO INTERACT WITH ITS SURROUNDING NATURAL EN!IRONMENT AND ITS ELEMENTS, BLENDING INTO IT AS ONE OF ITS OWN. OBJECTI!ES THROUGHOUT THE HISTORY, ARCHITECTURAL EXCELLENCE HAS BEEN CHARACTERI"ED BY COMPLEX, MAN MADE AESTHETICAL ELEMENTS, CREATING SPACES THAT WOULD STAND OUT IN ITS SURROUNDING EN!IRONMENT. AS A RESULT OF THIS, PEOPLE CAME TO THINK THAT GOOD ARCHITECTURE NEEDED LUXURY, MONEY, AND MONUMENTALALITY-HENCE NEGATIING THE ROLE AND IMPORTANCE OF ITS SURROUNDINGS. THE MODERN ERA WITH ITS INDUSTRY AND TECHNOLOGY DRI!EN ECONOMIES AND ARCHITECTURE DOESN#T HANE TIME FOR THESE EXTRA!AGANT AND PAINSTAKING PROCEDURE. SPEED, DURABILITY AND ABILITY TO WITHSTAND SUSTAINED PRESSURE ON ITSELF ARE SEEN AS MAJOR FACTOR IN A BUILDERS MIND. THIS HAS LED TO A COMPLEX LIKE ARCHITECTURE, ALIENATING ITS SURROUNDINGS AND ITS PEOPLE.
A SPACE IS CAPABLE OF TOUCHING PEOPLE, THEIR MAIND, THEIR THOUGHTS, AND THEIR BEHA!IOUR THUS CREATING A COMPACT, BOXED ENCLOSURE ISN#T SUITABLE FOR A PERSON#S EMOTIONAL GROWTH.HENCE IT BECOMES IMPORTANT TO BRING ABOUT AN INTEREST IN PEOPLE ABOUT THE OPENNESS AND CONTINUITY OF SPACE IN GENERATING AN ESSENTIAL ARCHITECTURE IN ELATION TO ITS SURROUNDING WITH THE USE OF FORMS THAT IS COMPOSED OF SIMPLE PLANES. A SPACE IS FORMED BY MANY STATIC ELEMENTS AND IS CAPABLE OF INFLUENCING HUMAN BEHA!IOUR. THESE MAN MADE ELEMENTS CAN BE MINIMI"ED TO CREATE A SPACE SUCH THAT THE ELKEMENTS CREATING THE SPACE, TRANSLATES THE SPACE WITH PERFECTON. THE DESIGINING AND ARTCULATION OF SPACE WHOULD DEPEND ON THE NATURE OF THE SURROUNDING. THIS ASPECT IS !ERY IMPORTANT IN BRINGING A SPACE TO LIFE. ANDY SPACE CAN BE BROUGHT TO LIFE BY PLAY OF LIGHT AND INTERACTION WITH NATURE.
NEEDS AND RE$UIREMENTS DESIGN BASED ON THE PRINCIPLES STATED ABO!E OULD LED TO AN ATMOSPHERE THAT STIMULATES AND RE!ITALI"ES THE CREATI!E MIND. THIS CAN BE DEMONSTRATED !ERY WELL IN A COLLEGE OF FINE ARTS, WHERE THERE WOULD BE SPACES OF COMMON INTEREST AND INTERACTION BETWEEN STUDENTS OF THE !ARIOUS DISCIPLINES WHICH WOULD SER!E AS MELTING POTS THAT BLENDS THE DIFERENT ASPECTS OF THE !ARIOUS ARTS. THE PROJECT WOULD HOUSE THE FOLLOWING SCHOOL OF ARCHITECTURE SCHOOL OF FINE ARTS PAINTING AND SCULPTURE. PHOTOGRAPHY PRODUCT DESIGN !ISUAL COMMUNICATION. • • • •
