Purpose The purpose of this interview and the questions to follow for every applicant, is to get a brief insight into the applicants personality, and thereby being able to select the applicant most fitting for a job within the Secret Service. This Interview Manual has been written with thought towards different questions and scenarios to give the interviewer the tools needed to make the best decisions as to what applicant gets to join the ranks of the Secret Service. Any and all parts of this manual must not be distributed or shared with anyone outside the agency, and this manual is the property of the Secret Service. Should an agent be terminated, resign or in any other way leave the employment of the Secret Service, this manual and all knowledge gained within the Secret Service is to be considered confidential, and sharing of such information might have severe consequences.

Information for the interviewers Any and all applicants applying to the Secret Service must have at least 1 Head Agent or above present, and be at least 2 agents total present during an interview. Applicant must be informed that everything within the interview is strictly confidential, and any leak i.e. discussing the questions or answers with others are to be considered grounds for termination of the application and possibly expelling the applicant from the community. The interview will be carried out in 2 stages. Stage 1 will consist of mandatory questions, where all questions needs to be answered by the applicant. Stage 2 will consist of scenario situations. These do not have a textbook answer, and are ment solely to give an insight into the personality and general readiness of the applicant. The interviewer will select 3-5 of these scenarios. Once both stages are complete, the interviewers will inform the applicant that the answers given will be discussed, and once a conclusion is reached, the applicant will be informed wether or not he or she is accepted into the Secret Service and why.

Stage 2 INTERVIEWER SELECTS 3-5 SCENARIOS ●
Scenario: You are protecting multiple principals and required to operate a motorcade; How would you organize this, and why?

Scenario: You have the president held up on the second floor of a skyscraper. You hear automatic gunfire coming from below and no agents are responding over the radio. You take the elevator down, walk outside and see 2 agents dead around a suburban. How do you proceed?

Scenario: You are escorting the president around lakeside when several civilians (3-4) run up to the president and start invading his personal space. They are refusing to listen to your instructions to step back. How do you proceed? ●
Scenario: You are doing a perimeter check when a vehicle drives up alongside you with 2 male occupants, one yells “I’m going to kill the president soon.” How do you proceed?

Scenario: Along with 3 other agents, total of 4 agents including yourself, you’re driving a vehicle along a road when a random other vehicle hits yours and disables it, and stops at a short distance. The other vehicle has 4 occupants which proceeds to step out, open fire, and kill 2 of your fellow agents. The remaining 1 agent is panicking. What do you do?

Scenario: You are the agent in charge of setting up the security for a speech or event on a given location. You’ve got 1 principal to protect, and 4 other agents at your disposal. How do you use these resources, and why?

Scenario: You are protecting the president’s loft when you do a perimeter check and an officer runs up to you and asks for assistance at a nearby bank robbery. How do you proceed?

Scenario: During an event, an unknown person takes a shot at the principal you’re protecting, but misses. How do you proceed?

Scenario: The principal you’re protecting wants to put him or herself in harms way, i.e. be in close vicinity of a robbery, gunfight or otherwise unsafe situation.
