Climate Change Climate change is now the most unpredictable threat to our planet. The earth’s climate has changed over the last century. There is stronger evidence that most of the warming observed the last 50 years is due to human activities. It is the most pressing issue at the moment over the world. The cause of climate change can be divided into two categories those are due to natural causes and those are created by men. Global warming is the main natural reason and using harmful chemicals in everyday life the main reason created by man. The climate is changing rapidly that result in the rise of the earth’s average temperature. The global climate change and its consequences are leaving a bad impact on the developing countries to face natural calamities and poverty. Climate change impacts include temperature rise, greenhouse and carbon dioxide gas emissions, erratic rainfall, salinity intrusion, rise of floods, cyclones, storm surges and draught, ice sheets melting which will seriously affect the agriculture and livelihood, especially at the poor. Bangladesh, for its geographical locations, is likely to be the most affected. The developed nations, which are more responsible for such climate changes, should take responsibilities to protect the victimized countries. The Maldives is also one of the worst victims of climate change. A one meter sea-level rise will submerge about one-third of the total area of Bangladesh, which will uproot 25-30 million people of Bangladesh. These people will become refuges of climate change. To reduce the bad impact of climate change people should be aware. Tree plantation can reduce global warming which is the main natural reason of climate change. Stop using harmful chemicals can reduce environmental pollution which is the main man made reason of climate change. Students should be careful to protect the environment and raise awareness. Thus students can play a vital role to reduce bad impact of climate change.
Deforestation Deforestation is the permanent destruction of the forests in order to enhance sources for life and use of woods. It is a major threat of Bangladesh. The causes of deforestation are many. According to the ecologists, for livable environment there should be forest on the 25% land of the total area. In Bangladesh there is 16% forest of the total land. Bangladesh is the most densely populated country in the world. Its population is much more in proportion is its area. This huge number of population needs more shelter, agricultural land, fuel, furniture etc. For all these reasons people cut trees. Moreover there are some dishonest people who cut trees in our forests to make money. They effects of deforestation are too many to describe. This destruction disturbs our ecological balance. The existences of animals are going to be threatened. Due to deforestation carbon dioxide is increasing worldwide. As a result, the world is becoming warmer. The sea level is rising and many parts of the world are going to be engulfed by the sea in recent future. On the other hand, new areas of the world are turning into deserts as a result of deforestation. The removal of trees causes birds and other animals living on them to leave the place. It also causes serious damage to the soil, as trees give protection to soil as well. In the end, the soil gets sediment in the river bed and causes frequent floods. So, if we destroy trees at random, one day Bangladesh will turn into a great desert. All living animals and birds will not find any food or shelter to live in. they will destroyed. There will be no rain and as a result Bangladesh’s agriculture will face a great crisis. The temperature will rise and it will cause greenhouse effect. Bangladesh will be unsuitable for living and various natural calamities like flood, drought, storm etc. will visit our country. Immediate measures should be taken to prevent deforestation. People should be made aware of tree plantation through mass media. Tree plantation programme should be extended throughout the Bangladesh.
Global Warming Global warming is a steady process of continuous rise in the level of Earth temperature. Global warming has become one of the biggest problems faced by the world now. It is believed that increasing level of carbon dioxide gas and other greenhouse gases on the earth are the main reasons of heating the atmosphere of earth. If it is not noticed and solved immediately by the efforts of all countries worldwide, it would boom its effects and cause end of life on the earth a day. Its threatening effects are increasing day by day and creating danger for human life. Global warming is the main and only reason of rising sea level, flooding, changes in weather patterns, storms, cyclone, epidemic diseases, lack of food, death, etc. The only solution to solve the issue of global warming is the individual level social awareness. People must be aware of its meaning, cause, bad effects and other things about global warming to get it eradicated from worldwide and make the possibilities of life on earth forever as usual. According to the statistics, it has been
noted that by 2020 global warming may boom its bad effects if it is not taken under control as CO2 emissions are increasing continuously. People should stop producing C02 by just stopping their bad habits such as stop the use of oil, coal and gas, inhibit cutting plants (as they are main source to absorb carbon dioxide and produce oxygen), minimize the use of electricity, etc. In order to stop the life threatening effects of the global warming, we should take a permanent break from all the bad habits causing increase in the CO2 level and other greenhouse gases leading to the greenhouse effect and then earth surface warming. We should stop deforestation, lessen the use of electricity, stop the burning of wood, etc.
