What is tarabalam Various strengths are checked for muhurtham. Tarabalam, Chandrabalam, Gurubalam, Suryabalam, Lagnam shuddhi, etc... As outlined o utlined in following mantra. When we worship lakshmipati sri narayana, he will make everything ever ything right. He is tithi, vaara, nakshatra, yoga, karana. Hence, worshipping him will make everything ev erything right, remove all dosha.
तदव ऱनं स दनं तदव ताराबऱं चंबऱं बऱं तदव। ुदनं वया बऱं दैवबऱं तदव ऱकमीपते तिघऽय गं मराम॥ ुगं tadeva lagnaṁ sudinaṁ tadeva tārābalaṁ caṁdrabalaṁ tadeva | vidyā balaṁ daivabalaṁ tadeva lak ṣmīpateḥ teṁghri'yugaṁ smarāmi || Tarabalam is a strength provided by stars to your Janma / Birth star. Nakshatra/Star of moon at the time of your birth is known as Birth star. Moon's dail y star / Nakshatra position needs to be favourable for casting any muhurtha. Moon takes roughly 27 days to circle around earth ea rth and passes through 27 nakshatras. Daily motion of moon from your janma nakshatra decides this strength. mypanchang.com mypanchang.com provides provides daily star of moon for your city. As moon transists into different stars it becomes favourable or unfavourable to your birth star. This tarabalam is divided into three sets of 9 nakshatras. Each part is called Navakam. To calculate tarabalam one must calculate position of daily nakshatra from your Janma nakshatra (both nakshatra inclusive). Divide that by 9. If the reminder is 2 ,4,6,8,9 or 0 then it's good otherwise it's bad.
How to use this Tarabalam table
Find your Janma Nakshatra (Birth Star). Goto mypanchang.com and click on panchangam Scroll down to your city and click Click on Amavasyant or Purnimant Panchangam of your choice. Try to find Daily nakshatra found above in top row. Try to find your Janma Namshatra from the left han dside column. Find the both intersecting block. That's your Tarabalam If the color is yellow or value indicated are a re 1,3,5,7 then they are not no t good. If the color is green or value indicated are 2,4,6,8, or 9 then they are very good.
Example:
My Nakshatra(Birth star) is Magha and today's star is Revati. Hence my tarabalam is 9 (good). But my birth star is Revati and toda y's star is Magha so my tarabalam for today toda y will be: 2 (Very good).
Let's take second example: My star is Uttara Shad ha (U.Shadha) and today's star / nakshatram is Ashwini so my tarabalam will be 8 (very good). But if my star was Ashwini and today's star was U.Shadha my tarabalam will be 3 (Bad).

The above table is divided into three groups of nakshatras known as a Navakam.

While deciding muhurthas in case the the tara balam happens to be bad(1,3,5 and 7) and the tara falls in First Navakam for Janma Tara, S econd Navakam for Vipat Tara, and Third Navakam for Pratyak Tara and in any Navakam for Naidhana has to be discarded. Muhurthas are possible even during the bad tarabalam by doing suitable dosha pariharam. Tarabalam is a basic step in calculating muhurtha. Other factors like panchaka bala, calculation of muhurta chart is very important. If muhurtha chart is strong and required planets are positioned well it counters all doshas. This does not replace the judgement of a professional astrologer but uses it as an aide.
