COURSE OBJECTIVES:
This three day Acupressure course focuses on the Eight Extraordinary Vessels, a unique course, which covers the mystical aspect of this often unspoken aspect of TCM. Students learn location and usage of 80+ acupressure points, four pairs of energy pathways and assessment related to the eight Extraordinary Vessels. A series of Qigong exercises is also performed to influence the circulation of Qi (Life Force) along these channels to restore and maintain health of body, mind and spirit.

Day 3 Qigong movements Assessment of the Eight Extraordinary Vessels - Physical symptoms - Emotional-mental issues - Pulse reading - Orifices affected and influenced by them - Palpation of specific areas (abdomen, back, lateral lower leg…) - Demonstration - Supervised Hands-on practice Master points and Coupled points - Meaning - Usage - Ways of pairing them - Demonstration - Supervised Hands-on practice Ethics - Establish clear boundaries as well as ethical and appropriate client/practitioner relationship - What therapeutic touch is and it is not - Usage of proper verbal and non verbal communication - Development and application of listening skills - Understand and respect client’s privacy, confidentiality and comfort zone Indications and contraindications of Acupressure (Qigong) - Indications and safe use of Acupressure (Qigong) - What Acupressure (Qigong) does not address - Dealing with people who may require more delicate (pregnant women, children, adolescents, elderly people) - Dealing with acute, chronic and/or terminal illness - Recognition of one’s own limitation and expertise
After attending this class, students will be able to: - Describe pathways and recognize symptoms and signs associated to the Eight Extraordinary Vessels - Assess and identify imbalances related to one or more of the Extraordinary Vessels - Address the imbalances using specific acupressure patterns - Apply self help techniques to themselves - Share self help techniques with others - Give a basic Qigong (TuiNa) massage geared toward relaxation - Establish a clear, honest, trustworthy and appropriate client/practitioner relationship
