THE FIVE PILLARS OF INTUITION
Azriel ReShel, ReShel, Waking Times
Intuition is as natural as breathing, sleeping or eating. All of us have intuition. Some of us are more open to this capacity, and connection to higher information, than others, but we can all deepen and develop our intuition with a few simple techniques and daily rituals. Intuition is the spark, or gateway, to higher knowing and to living a fulfilled, flowing, effortless and peaceful life. ach day we are bombarded by an avalanche of information, demands and pressures, that squash our vastness into a tiny reality. !his data smog and information overload swamps our intuition. "ow more than ever, we need this innate capacity to guide us. !he more lost we are in the pace of modern life, the more we need this anchor.
Our Sixth Sense Intuition is very much a natural and inherent part of our natures. #hen you strip back all the learned stress behaviours, pressures, pressures, mental mental pro$ections and layers layers of baggage, we find find the radiance of of our true self. !his authentic nature is peaceful, blissful, and intuitive. ach one of us has this ability to know things, to sense things, to feel things, see things and hear things, beyond our conscious awareness. awareness. !he origin of the word %intuition& is the 'atin verb intueri intueri,, which is usually translated as to look inside or to contemplate.
!here is a growing body of research suggesting there are underlying non(conscious aspects of intuition. Among Among these aspects of intuition involved in intuitive perception are implicit learning, or implicit knowledge. Science is now showing that the heart is involved in the processing and decoding of intuitive information. motion and intuition seem to be also rooted both in the heart and the second brain in the gut. !his is where the term, your gut instincts, comes from. Intuition is like a secret, inner $etpack that helps you make quantum leaps in your life, a map that reveals the shortcuts, opens up the pathway and holds the keys to your happiness. Is this building up intuition too much) I don*t think so. ven the military is studying the secrets of intuition. In the wake of snap intuitive $udgments in the field of combat that saved many lives, +S researchers are studying the power of intuition. Sensing impending danger,, deciding whether ob$ects are missiles or airliners, danger or detecting bombs, are a few situations where a snap $udgment needs to be made and where lives are at stake. !he +S navy studies studies,, with eperts in neural, cognitive and behavioural science, were attempting to discover what gives rise to our so called %sith sense& and how they can train marines to use it. A former +S navy seal has even written four books on the sub$ect and he believes that tapping into our intuition helps us to ecel at light
speed. +nderstanding what intuition is, can help us to recognise it. The basics of Intuition Intuition is an instinctual awareness. Actually, intuition is a mysterious and curious thing a little beyond description. #hen you are in tune with your intuition, you have an unconscious understanding understanding and a subtle knowing, and you are able to see the bigger picture, or to see the meaning in things. It is sensory, not really a cognitive functioning. Intuition is sensing meaning in things, having an understanding of concepts and connections beyond everyday knowledge. “Intuition is not a single way of knowing – it’s our ability to hold space for uncertainty and our willingness to trust the many ways we’ve developed knowledge and insight, including instinct, experience, faith and reason.” rene rown r own So much of intuition is innate that often we miss it. -r we doubt it. any years ago, I used to feel intuitive nudges and ignore them, doubting their truth. I quickly discovered these nudges were always right. I started to eperience them as coming physically into me, seemingly a part of me, but beyond me. Initially, I pro$ected intuition onto other %spiritual& Initially, people, or psychics, psychics, or masters. masters. In pro$ecting my intuition intuition and psychic awareness on to other people, I lost sight of
the intuitive awareness that had always been my second nature from so early on in life. After many years of using eternal methods for guidance, such as tarot or angel cards, pendulum etc., I recognised that the quiet wave of energy that would come over me, was my intuition. I could feel the quality of the thoughts that popped into my head, coming from my left side, as something that was not generated from my own mind. I started to distinguish between me and and my thoughts and something totally beyond my conscious conscious awareness. awareness. It was quieter quieter,, gentler, gentler, subtler, and a highly refined energy. !ruly a whisper, with a feeling of something so gracious, tender, and pure, it was unmistakably otherworldly. "ow I know this feeling feeling instantly and and follow it. It is never never wrong. And it is precisely because it comes so naturally to me, that I missed it. I was looking for something more outrageous, a fanfare of guidance, a physical angel sitting on my couch. -nce I accepted and trusted that intuition is as natural as breathing, my $ourney with intuition epanded and grew, and the whispers of intuition became a lot louder.
The Pillars of Intuition !here are five pillars of intuition/ !rust, 0onnection, Acceptance,, Integrity and Innocence. !hese pillars are all Acceptance
interlinked and much like branches of a tree, come together as a whole to create the magic of intuition. Intuition is a flow, flow, it’s it’s like falling into into the music of life. life. !earing the music music and sharing it. Intuition is a gift of being human.
Trust Intuition is such a natural part of our makeup, it is more a case of unlearning what prevents us from being intuitive, then learning how to be intuitive. -ne of the keys to awakening your intuition, is trust. Absolute trust in your impressions and a grounding of this trust, through taking action based on your intuitive impressions impressions.. !he more you trust, and take action 1before you doubt yourself2, the more your intuition will grow.
Connection 0onnection to your self, especially your heart, to others and to nature, enhances your intuition. So the more you can be in solitude, get to know your inner world, the more your intuition will flower. 3ou have the opportunity to heal any pain blocking your heart, through opening to all your feelings, especially your Inner child. 0onnection to yourself can also happen in another way/ when the mind is distracted by something, and kept busy 4 for eample, by ambient noise, noise, an activity that keeps keeps the hands busy busy,, or
low level background noise 4 it can often be easier to access creativity. !here are several famous writers who use this technique to access a kind of stream of consciousness. consciousnes s. -ther artists use it to create music. !his %zone,& that comes when the mind is distracted is helpful with intuition. I discovered this technique with intuition, through working with oracle cards. At first the cards were the message, then the cards became the %distraction& and the message was something beyond the cards. I came to trust the inner knowing, feelings, words and visual fragments that were seemingly unrelated to the cards. As the mind focussed on the cards, something else was freed and it was like the cards became a gateway.
Accetance #e spend so much of life pushing away, re$ecting, fighting. 5attling ourselves, our past, our bodies, our beliefs, our conditioning. conditioning. !hen !hen we take this inner inner war out into our daily life, and engage in conflicts with others. Self acceptance leads to greater trust and helps you awaken your intuitive capacity. Acceptance is about accepting all aspects of ourselves. "ot $ust the good aspects. #hen we accept that we have negative character aspects, then we stop hiding them and fighting with ourselves. A daily daily practice of sitting still for five minutes, with your hands on the heart, and somatically connecting with your body, firstly the physical sensations, and then
your thoughts, and your emotions, simply observing, without trying to change anything, will help you to develop greater acceptance acceptance..
Inte!rit" 5eing real and authentic, most of all with yourself, releases the chokehold of our ego on intuition. Integrity is doing the right thing, saying what you mean, and keeping your word, most of all to yourself. It is about being authentically you. !oo often people think they need to behave a certain certain way in order to be be wise, or %spiritual.& %spiritual.& In fact, it is the reverse. pressing more of what is truly within you, showing yourself, shadow and all, is the way to free yourself.
Innocence #hen you start the $ourney of forming a deeper, more authentic connection with yourself, you open the doorway to innocence. innocence. uch of intuitive functioning functioning is held in the childlike spontaneity we all have. 0onnecting to, and nurturing, this aspect of yourself helps to enhance intuition. So what limits your intuition) 6ear drowns out intuition, as does aniety and stress. -ur modern western way of life limits intuition. !he more we succumb to the arrogance of believing we are all powerful
and all knowing, the more we constrict our intuition. 7umility and Innocence open the mind. “"he need to be certain is what silences the intuitive voice. #itting in uncertainty makes us feel anxious, vulnerable and fearful. $e start looking for validation outside of us rather than trusting what comes through.” rent r ent rown rown "ew research research into the heart shows shows that our heart heart is a dynamic, connecting, creative intelligence. !he more we release our fear of the pain dwelling in our hearts, and start to live from the wisdom of our hearts, the more intuition can grow. 7oward artin, co(author of 7eart Intelligence, says that our thoughts and feelings influence the chemistry that regulates our health/ %7eart Intelligence links the physical heart to the spiritual 1energetic2 1energe tic2 heart. !hrough its etensive communication with the brain and body, the heart is intimately involved in how we think, feel, and respond to the world.& !he 7eartath Institute is researching the role of the heart in processing and and decoding intuitive information. !his research shows what has always been known, that the heart is the centre of our instinctual and intuitive nature. It is the portal to the worlds beyond the physical. “%veryone is one hundred percent intuitive about the things they need to know. If there are things that aren’t known, it simply reminds you what doesn’t need to be
known at this time. $hile so many beings work diligently on developing their intuition, it is done in attempt to know more than each moment provides. &o matter how crystal clear your intuition becomes, you will never see or know more than is meant to be revealed. In fact, without even working on honing the power of your intuition, you will always know exactly where to go and what to do at the moment you are meant to move. 'ntil further instructions are revealed, intuition is not about imagining all the insights and messages you are missing. It is more so centred in the grace of ever(expanding faith to trust what already alr eady knows everything as it blossoms into being.” – )att *ahn

Today we are going to talk about developing developing psychic intuition and will mention a few techniques and exercises for developing intuition. intu ition. Actually Actually the subject matter is such that most people would feel that either developing intuition is something which cannot be done since it is something which is supernatural or it is too difficult for a common person to develop intuition and is only the privilege of a chosen few. Developing Developing Psychic ntuition ntu ition !irst of all let us try to understand what exactly exactly is meant by intuition and how can exercises help to develop it. "asically ntuition is nothing but a heightened awareness awareness of the mind which w hich springs forth naturally from a calm and focussed# concentrated condition or you can say it is a sixth sense that we all have in us.
Developing Intuition
t is true that due to previous sanskaras or impressions of the mind some of us are naturally born with a strong sense of intuition. $et irrespective of the fact# this faculty can be developing by following following the simple intuiting int uiting developing exercises exercises that we are about to discuss now. %e are not saying that all the exercises that we have mentioned below are going to work for you. %hat %hat we are saying is that practice these and slowly you will be able to understand which the one that is actually working wo rking for you is. The one that works the best can be adopted and you can practice the same more often so that your intuition power improves. improves. &o basically its just like say developing developing your muscles with workout. Theoretically it should wo work rk for everyone if the right r ight techniques are followed# followed# yet yet it also depends on few other factors factors like inherent disposition of the mind and most importantly the will power and determination with which these are done#
which in turn again depend on meditation etc# hence these are all interconnected. Thought the wo words rds 'psychic 'psychic intuition( int uition( might seem bit unworldly unworldly for few of you# it is nothing out of the world but is very normal and connected to day to day matters. t is always always good to have a strong intuition for both personal and professional life. t will make you are more sensitive person and you will become more confident about yourself and of all that is happening around you. t can reduce stress to stress to a great extent. extent. t can make you more creative as you are connecting with nature. t can help you to become a better decision maker. )verall it will make you a much complete and a stronger person. Developing Developing ntuition nt uition Through *xercises *xercises &ome feel that intuition is just the product of the mind this is not true intuition needs the involvement involvement of all the t he senses that we have and the physical body. The brain
makes us intelligent but heart is also responsible for intelligence and sensitivity. %hen we develop the intuition i ntuition we are basically increasing i ncreasing the power power of our heart to understand what is happening around us and tell us what is ahead. This has given rise to a new concept called the t he heart brain. &ome exercises for developing the intui int uitio tion n are ment m ention ioned ed below+ be low+ ,. The first f irst exercise exercise will be to work with direct intuition. n this you need to find a comfortable place to sit. &tart to inhale and exhale. exhale. -oncentrate on the process. After sometime try to look at the near future futu re and see what you can. This This will take some time so keep practicing regularly. . $ou can also try to develop symbolic intuition as a second exercise exercise in developing developing intuition.. intu ition.. n this just get a piece of paper and a pen. Ask yourself a question 'what does life need from me
right now(. Ask this question three times so that each time you go towards towards a better and a more meaningful answer. %hen you ask the question third time just don/t give the answer instead draw what you feel in a piece of paper. This symbol that you have drawn drawn when interpreted i nterpreted will tell you what you intuition wants to tell you. you. 0. n this third exercise we will tell you how you you can look at the t he message that your intuition is trying to give you. 1ust let your senses free. 2et them feel all that is around you. They They will wander during duri ng the day and in the evening when you sit in a quiet place just think about all that your senses told you during the day and you will get what your intuition is trying to tell you. As As we have already mentioned all al l these will take a lot of learning lear ning and time. 3eep 3eep practicing patiently. nitially you may not be able to understand the message that the intuition is trying to give you. t is not that your intuition is not working. wo rking. t is just that you are not able to
understand what it is trying try ing to say. say. &o &o be calm and keep trying till you decode the true message. 4. n the t he fourth fourt h exercise exercise we will tell you how you can choose a sense to work with. The intuition needs a particular sense to work wo rk with. t can be the ear or the t he eyes. eyes. 1ust listen to your body. !or example leave your mind blank and let the body do what it wants to. !or example start walking and go where your feet f eet are taking you. This can be used as a way to follow your intuition. &imilarly sit in a quiet place and relax. 2et your eyes eyes close and think that you are healthy and happy and so are the t he people around you. Think that the people who matter matt er the most to you are happy. happy. This will help you to develop the intuitive eye. As you practice it regularly the eyes will tell you about the one person around you who is not fine and needs help. 5. $ou can also develop an intuitive ear by following following this fifth fift h exercise exercise.. 1ust sit in a
nice relaxed relaxed place and think thi nk of a song. song . 2et the D1 in you play the song. %hen the song goes on for some time just let yourself think why you chose the song and maybe your intuition will give you the answer that t hat you are ar e looking lo oking for. $our mind m ind should be free fr ee and you must not have any control on what you mind is thinking at this point of time. 6. As a sixth exercise exercise learn to use your dreams to develop your intuition. Dreams are powerful so just before you go to bed think of the day that went by. 3eep a paper and a pen with you. As you sleep ask yourself what the people around you need from you. $ou will fall asleep as you go on asking the question again and again. n the morning when you get up maybe you will not remember anything of your dream. 1ust take the paper and the pen. p en. Draw what comes to your mind first and this will be what your intuition is trying to tell you.
