A beautiful amalgamation of old world charm and contemporary delights, the capital city of Bhopal teems with many places that make it a holidaying idyll. The narrow labyrinthine streets of Old Bhopal still evoke the charm of bygone days, when the place was under the governance of Nawabs and Begums. Harmonizing the old grandeur of the place, the landscaped gardens and parks of New Bhopal are equally tantalizing. However, a trip to this historical place demands some amount of knowledge about its weather and climate, as climatic conditions of Bhopal does not remain favorable throughout the year. The season of summer starts from April and lasts until June, while bringing about a very steep rise in temperatures. The maximum temperature may ascend to 47.7oC and the minimum temperature is recorded at only 24.9oC. The trees dry down and there is scarcity of water in some places during this season. Nevertheless, the summer hails experienced during June/July and cluster of Gulmohar trees that blossom with red flowers act as redeeming features to beat the summer heat of the season. Winter Winters in Bhopal are very cold and damp. The season lasts for four months - November, December, January and February. During winters, the maximum temperature rises to 24.5oC. However, there might be a sudden drop in the temperature level during the nights. The minimum winter temperature remains around 8oC. Sometimes, cold days are accompanied with heavy fog and winter sleets/hail. Often mist hangs in the air, making this season very soggy. The annual fair of Bhopal (Bhopal Mela) is a big draw of the place during winters. THE EFFECT IS SHOWN IN FIGURE Monsoon Bhopal experiences moderate rainfall during the rainy season, with the average rainfall recorded at 1200mm. However, isolated rains occur throughout the year. The south-west monsoon reaches the city around mid-June and brings frequent spells of rain till october. Mild drizzles are recorded during the months of DecemberJanuary. In short, one can say that Bhopal experiences diverse climatic conditions that range from hoary summers to unprecedented downpours.
