BLACK PERSUASION

They are doing it again. By it I mean fighting. My mom and dad. They are fighting over their money problems. But I’m fine with it now. Now I don’t care. I learned how to deal with things like this the hard way and so I don’t get upset about these type of things. But I still needed to get out of the house because why hear it when you don’t have to? That is why I’m knocking on my best friend Katie’s door. I ring the door bell like a gazillion times not caring if it annoys her mum or her tool of a brother. I feel sorry for them some times. Like they do have to put up with me like all the time. Coz I am here all the time. More at Katie’s house then I am in my own. The door swung open aggressively and I see Jimmy holding it looking not so happy. happy. Not that he ever ev er does look happy. happy. But I am so used to it now. ‘ hey Jim Joe! Whats crakalakin my home bud? ‘ I have my own nick name for fo r him and use it all the time because it annoys him. We We always annoy ann oy each other o ther.. Its what we do. You You would swear we were only 6 years old but no. He is actually two years older then th en me so you would think he would be the mature one. Ha no way! He rolled his eyes and stepped aside so I could walk in. He shut the door behind me and stood over me towering me because he knows my disadvantage. My disadvantage
being small. But hey I can still kick some ass when necessary. ‘ why don’t you run along now and go play barbies with my sis.’ he said looking down at me as if I was a little kid. ‘ we might just to that. th at. At liest we get to see ken’s ken’ s fine bod. Unlike yours.. Which I have seen plenty times in many occasions. And you disappointed me. Its not that impressive. Looks like your gonna have to work a bit harder big guy!’ I smirked and stood up tall. He went red at the memory. memory. I did actually see his body and I lied. It was quite impressive but it would be the last thing on my mind to let him know that. He was gob smacked and clearly couldn’t think of a come back so I scooted pass him and ran up the stairs then I heard him speak again. ‘ oh don’t lie. I know you want me.’ ha! How lame was that! You You think he would come up with something better than that. I walked back down a step so he could see my face, ‘ oh Jim Joe. I am getting quite tired of your pathetic ways of trying to flirt with me. I suggest you google on it some more because frankly you are starting to bore me.’ I said with a long loud yawn and putting my hand over my mouth. I laughed as I turned back and started heading toward Katie’s room. I heard Jimmy mutter bad words under his breath with annoyance. That made me laugh harder. harder.
I stopped laughing when I walked into Katie’s bedroom. She was reading a magazine and lying on her stomach. She put down the magazine when she saw me. ‘ hey whats up my darlin? ‘ she said smiling. I shrugged as if bored and said ‘ oh you know the usual. Mom and dad are fighting. What ever. I don’t care. ‘ she didn’t believe it though. I could tell by her face. ‘ yeah yeah sure sure. I don’t believe you. Under all your mocho I know you care.’ she said nodding enthusiastically. enthusiastically. I snickered at that. ‘ me? Are you sure you are talking about me?’ I asked curiously. curiously. She nodded again.’ sure am. Do you remember when we were 5 and we were playing in the school yard and you started kicking this boy Thomas because he called me a icky smelly girly.’ she laughed at the memory. I smiled. Good el times. ‘ those were the days. Anyway Anyway whats your point?’ she smiled and continued. ‘ well I remember him tripping over a sharp rock and then cutting his leg and then it started to bleed. ‘ she said beaming as if she discovered a mystery. mystery. ‘ yeah that was so gross! But again I say whats your point?’ I said still curious. ‘ my point is, is that I remember you feeling terrible. I know you didn’t mean to hurt him. And you didn’t want to. And I remember how sad you looked. loo ked. ‘
she said absolutely chuffed with herself because she now thought she has taken a long deep look in to my soul and all that mumbo jumbo stuff. ‘ oh come on Katie. I was five. So what if I was sad for the kid. Anyway. You are boring me now. I think I might have a party with your brother if you don’t quit it out. Now lets talk about something something else. ‘ I said said knowing that would grab her attention. ‘ ok fine. I guess we could talk about-’ she didn’t finish her sentence and she just dazed at the wall for like 1 minute and then she jumped with a huge smile on her face. Oh no not that smile! She has the I got a idea face on. Those ideas never usually turn out great. Then she was jumping up and down with excitement. ‘ oh Hannah oh Hannah! I have such a great idea! Instead of just chatting all day we can go out! Like to a club tonight! Come on! After all it is summer! ‘ she screeched with excitement. ’ ugh! But I don’t have any nice clothes and where would we go exactly? ‘ I asked. ‘ I know exactly were we can go. Do you remember my cousin Martin? Well Well me and him h im are super close clo se and he told me about this club- well actually he didn’t mean to actually tell me, it just slipped out by accident and I made him tell me more about it. Anyway this club is top secret and its
super hot. And I think we should go.’ she said grinning like she won the lotto. ‘ are you mad? If it’s a secret club then they wont let us in!’ I said eyes wide. ‘ all I have to do is say I’m a cousin of Martin and we are in. look don’t worry about it. But the only thing is, I remember Martin telling me its sort of like a goth club and stuff like that. But it should be fun so…why not huh?’ she said looking hopeful. ‘ oh sure it’s a adventure so why not. Im all about the unknown baby! ‘ I said and we giggled. ‘ ok so now it’s a trip to my closet. When I’m finished with you, you are gonna look smoking hot!’ she said dragging me to her closet.
Mission accomplished! We We stared at ourselves in the mirror. Smoking hot wouldn’t be b e far of. We We were all dressed in black and make up and everything was done. don e. We We grinned at each other and gave each other a high five and then decided to get going. We were just going to the living room to tell her mom that we were going. We We walked in and Jimmy didn’t look lo ok up because he was to busy being engrossed engro ssed by the T.V T.V but her mom certainly had a good look at us and from what I could
tell, not to happy about abou t it either. either. ’ what are you two girls wearing? Were Were are you going g oing dressed like that?’ Yuuup, I was right. She was not to happy. happy. I looked down at what I was wearing. Black dress fitted tightly but nicely against my skin. It looked like it was part of my skin to be exact. I felt Jimmy looking at me so I looked up at him. His mouth was hanging open and I put a hand on my hip waiting for him to wake up. up . He met my eyes eventually and I stuck out my tongue. No need to be awkward around Jimmy. Jimmy. That would be no good. He went red and an d turned back to the T.V T.V ’ mom! There is nothing wrong with what we are wearing and we are going out because Hannah has not had a good day and I think the best thing to do for her would be to go out and have some fun so please don’t try argue with me because I’m old enough now to be making my own decisions and soon I will be eighteen so just please trust me.’ she said all grown up. Her mums face softened and I could tell she was going to give in. ‘ fine. Go. Have fun girls.’ she said smiling.
Oh we will have fun, I thought to myself smiling. Then a
chill went down my spine and it didn’t feel like a good one. It felt almost like a warning. Oh well. This girl is all about the unknown baby!
‘ are you ready?’ I asked Katie as she fixed her red lipstick. ‘ yeah are you? Oh and remember you are my cousin also.’ she said nervously. We got out of the car and I brushed all the dog hairs of my dress. Katie’s dog Kismit is always brought in the car. So hence the dog hairs on my dress. I don’t mind though because I love animals. Especially taking pictures pictur es of them. The only thing that Jimmy and I have in common is the fact that we love photography and we both actually take the same class on Wednesday. In fact it’s the only time when the two of us get along with each other. No fights. No bickering and no threatening from me having to kick his ass. Its weird actually how quick we bounce back to all the messing again as soon as we walk out the door. I turned my head left and saw the big black sign. The club was called Black persuasion . W Well ell that sounds inviting. While I was looking at the sign I walked straight into a puddle causing water to splash all over my lower legs. Also my black heals. ‘ aww no! I need to go to the bathroom to clean this of. ‘ I muttered angrily. angrily.
‘ once we get in you can. Now stand up tall. As tall as you can please.’ she laughed knowing my weakness. I threw her a daggered dagg ered look only to make her laugh harder. We were now walking up u p to the man with a black suit with all those type of wires and stuff in his ears. He’s really big and the type you don’t want to mess with. But he has to have a soft spot. Lets find out. ‘ hello. I am sorry but I do not recognise you two ladies. Are you lost?’ he said in his deep manly voice. ‘ no actually this is the place we are looking for. You know my cousin Martin Sanders? Sand ers? Well Well he told me about this place and I just had h ad to check it out, you know? And all those other places that are in just don’t do it for us. But this place is meant for us. ‘ she said convincingly. He didn’t look convinced but I could tell he was thinking about it but then he shook his head. ‘ no I am afraid not. These type of people in there are not people you want to mess with and you two ladies are to helpless and to innocent.’ he said crossing his arms. I decided to try then. After all we came out all this way so might as well try. try. I walked up closer to him. Real close. And started fluttering my eye lashes. ‘ oh but please sir . We are bad girls when necessary. We can handle ourselves.’ I stepped back and put a hand on my hip with the expression on my face that said I don’t give a shit.
He looked at both of us back and forward and sighed. ‘ alright fine. Go on in but please don’t bring any attention on to yourselves.’ your selves.’ he said seriously. seriously. I had to keep reminding myself not to jump up and down with the excitement. I nodded and grabbed Katie by the arm and he opened the black door for us. I turned around to give him a wink and he went red and had to shake himself up a little. Well that was fun. The place was so dark. No surprise there. There was a dance floor with nobody on it. People were just sitting down and chatting. I glanced around the place for a bathroom. I found one at the other end of the club. ‘ I have to go to the bathroom. Will Will you get me a drink, with lots and lots of alcohol in it please?’ I said shouting over the heavy music. Katie nodded and I went to the bathroom. The bathroom was nice. There was even a leather sofa in it. I grabbed some of the paper and put the tap on to soak it. I washed and dried my legs quickly and as I was putting the paper in the bin something caught my eye. It was some type of wipes in a basket. Oh great. I could of just used them. I picked one up and read what it said on it. ‘Easy wipe. For vampires who have accidents.’ this has to be some kind of joke. I bet this club believes in vampires and all those mythical jokes. How sad! I put one wipe in my bag to show Katie later on for a laugh.
A lady came in just as I was coming out. And oh my was she beautiful. She smiled friendly. friendly. And held the door for me politely. politely. ’ my my what do we have here? Are you here for business little girl?’ she said in a intimidating voice. What is she on about business? Does she think I’m some kind of hooker? How gross! ’ I don’t know what your talking about but if you will excuse me, I have somebody waiting for me.’ I said standing tall and chin high. No one is going to make me feel like crap with out my consent. She nodded as if understanding and stood back to let me free.’ I see. You You have already been claimed. Sorry to bother you. I didn’t know. ’ she said smiling apologetically ap ologetically.. What in gods name is up with this crazy chick? Is she high or something? I walked out of the bathroom completely dazed and clueless. I started walking faster and faster and looked around quickly to see if I could cou ld find Katie. Where is she? I hope she hasn’t bumped into anybody weird like that crazy chick in the bathroom. I found her sitting down at a table in the corner by herself. I kept my eyes on her and started to quicken my pace. So fast that I didn’t notice the step and that caused me to be flying toward the ground. I brought my arms to shield my face automatically and waited for the crash to happen.
But it didn’t. Instead I felt strong arms ar ms hold me gently. gently. I looked up at my saver. saver. It was a boy. boy. Around my age maybe. He looked like a devil. He looked like a god! But a bad one! Just my type of guy. Although he wasn’t smiling. He actually looked pissed of! Oh well maybe not my guy. I found my feet quickly and pushed myself up. ’ whoopsie’s ! ‘ I said giggling trying to lighten the awkwardness and trying to get that angry face of his to disappear. It didn’t work. He looked somehow angrier! ‘ watch were your going you clumsy human!’ he said narrowing his eyes. That bastard! What the hell is wrong with these people. They think they are super human or something! I stood up tall and put on my threatening face and stomped on his foot with my heal causing him to yelp in pain. Thankfully the music was so loud that barely anybody noticed. He was bent down trying to get his breathing back to normal. I patted him on the back as if I would to a friend and whispered in his ear. ‘ thank you so much for catching me. I deeply appreciate it. You You should really get some ice for that
foot or its gonna swell up like a balloon. Chow! ‘ I said giggling as if it was all a joke. He looked up at me and gave me a daggered look. I smiled at him wider and started to walk over to Katie who has obviously seen everything because she has her hand on her mouth trying to stop herself from laughing. I sat down beside her and smiled an innocent smile. ‘ trust you Hannah. We We are only here 5 minutes and you manage to beat someone up.’ she said making tut tut noises. I shrugged and looked around and said.’ it was so not my fault this time. People here are really creepy. creepy. I don’t remember your cousin being this creepy. creepy. A woman in the toilet asked me if I was open for business! Like what the hell is up with that? Is this some kind of hooker place? Is there something your not telling me?’ I asked now suspicious if Katie was really into this sort of thing. She shook her head seriously.’ seriously.’ oh god no Hannah! Jeez! But I know what you mean. The bartender asked which clan I came from! Isn’t that like a vampirey thing?’ she asked and I saw her shiver. ‘ yeah a clan is like a vampire family thing, I think. Its been a while since I read Dracula. Not that I ever read it actually. actually. I just saw the movie but I dunno. ‘ I said thinking. Then I remembered the wipes and I took them out to show Katie. I handed them to her and she read it with googly
eyes. She looked back up at me with wonder. I shrugged. ‘ maybe these people are wanna be vamps. I heard about them before. On the internet I came across something like that.’ I said nodding . Katie nodded then to. ‘ yeah maybe that’s it. Anyway Anyway it should be some fun right?’ she said hopeful. God bless her. She was just trying to make me feel better about the money situation back home. I smiled at her. I looked down at the table and saw that she didn’t buy any drinks. ‘ why didn’t you get any drinks?’ I asked. She looked down in embarrassment. ‘ oh its just I forgot. The bar tender is super hot. ‘ she said grinning like a child. ‘ that’s ok. I’ll just ju st get some now. now. What do you want? ‘ I said standing up. ‘ umm water please. I don’t want to get drunk and wake up in the morning and find that I’m in bed with a motor bike dude or anything.’ she said. I laughed. ‘ I agree with you on that.’ I said and walked over to the bartender. bartender. Katie was right. He is good looking. Not as hot as the messed up guy that I ran into though. Such shame really.
I sat on the stool stoo l waiting for him to come co me over. over. He came over right away and he was smiling. Thank god. ‘ can I help you? Or are you here to be helping somebody else?’ he asked politely. What the hell? Again weird! I decided to go along with it. ‘ uhh no actually I’m not here on business tonight. Can I have two glasses of water please?’ he nodded understanding and fished out two glasses. He handed them to me so fast that I nearly thought I was going to faint. I said thanks and was about to walk when I heard him speak to me again. ‘ wait! Come here a sec will you?’ he pleaded. I turned back back around to face him. He had his hand out to give me a leaflet. I took it and said ‘ uhh thanks.’ he smiled. ‘ no problem. Hope to see you soon.’ he said then turned back to serve another guy. I walked back over to Katie and handed her the drink and I sat down. I put the leaflet on the table, not bothering to look at it. Katie’s eyebrow went up when she saw the leaflet. ‘ I dunno what it is. The bartender gave it to me. Maybe his number is on it for you. He knows I’m with you.’ I shrugged as if bored. Katie took a sip of her water and picked up the piece of paper to read it. I watched her as she read it to herself. Her eyes got wider and wider with I don’t know, shock or surprise?
‘ well? Is it his number or what?’ I asked snapping my fingers in front of her face to get her attention. She shook her head and looked up at me with worried eyes. ‘ what’s the matter?’ I asked now worried. She handed me the leaflet without a word and I read what was on it. It said Want to be a donor? don or? No need to work anymore. Lots of money will come your way and all you have to do is simple. Donate your blood. Its safe and contract available. This is crazy! Around Around all the writing was vampire fangs. But that was just a gimmick. Its just a little ironic. I put down the leaflet and looked a Katie. She was still a little shaken. She pursed her lips trying to think. ‘ you don’t think they mean vampires do you? ‘ she asks in a whisper. I shook my head smiling. ‘ no, I think it might be for some sort of charity thing. You You know donate blood. My dad used to donate his blood and he used to get money from it. I wonder how much?’ I started to daze of when Katie interrupted me. ‘ your not thinking about contacting these loonies are ya?’ she screeched. People turned to stare. But I ignored them.
‘ relax darlin. No I wasn’t. I’m just curious is all.’ I said trying to calm her down. She nodded and sat back down in her seat and relaxed a little. I looked around again trying to figure this place out. I noticed something I hadn’t notice before. There are many doors. Not just to the toilet but to other places as well. I wonder if it leads you to another club or something. ‘ where are you going?’ Katie asked when I stood up. ‘ come on, come with me. I want to check this place out.’ I said and she nodded unenthusiastically. unenthusiastically. I walked over to where the many closed doors where and closed my eyes and walked over to a random door. I opened my eyes and turned to see if Katie was with me. She grabbed my arm and clung on to it while I opened the door. I began walking in but I froze in my tracks. There was a man eating a women! Well maybe not eating. More like drinking. There Ther e was blood coming everywhere from her neck and her eyes were closed. The poor girl is unconscious! Katie stifled a quiet cry and I put my hand over her mouth to hush her. She looked up at me with worried eyes and began to tug and my arm to leave. Not yet I told her with my eyes. I wrestled her arm of me and I stepped forward
into the room. I grabbed what came to my eyes first. A lamp. It was heavy. It will do. I went from behind the murderer and whacked him on top of the head with the lamp. I expected him to fall onto the bed unconscious but I was very wrong. It was like I barley touched him. But I did. I put a lot of force into that swing. He stopped sucking from the girl and turned to glare at me. Blood all over his mouth. It was disgusting! I thought I was going to barf right there. The girl rose up and looked pissed of. ’ what the hell are you doing? You You interrupted us you little bitch! I’m going to kill you!’ she snarled. What the hell! I was only o nly trying to save her! The man continued to glare at me with vicious black eyes but I stood ready to fight. He scared me then by raising his teeth up into a curl to expose his white teeth. No. white fangs with blood smeared all over them! And that’s all I remember. Oh wait no. I do remember hurting my ass as I fell to the ground unconscious. Because I fainted! I think it was the fangs that made me faint but I
don’t know. Maybe it was the whole night experience. Anyhow I knew I fainted because I woke up in a room I did not recognise. I was on a sofa. I could see Katie on a chair across the room talking to the bartender. bartender. Not the murderer. murderer. She didn’t look scared though so I felt relieved. ‘ look I don’t know why she fainted coz she’s the toughest person I know. But she was just trying to save that woman. So how is that committing a crime? Huh?’ she said standing up. The bartender had his hands in fists trying to keep his anger down. ‘ that vampire was one of our best clients and now he may not ever come back again!’ he said slamming his fists against the table. I stood up now to protect my friend. ‘ what do you mean vampire client? Why does everyone obsess over being a vampire? They do not exist! They are myths!’ I was shouting now. This is so ridiculous! The man walked over to me now turning his attention on me. ‘ I thought you were a donor!’ he shouted. ‘ what do you mean donor? Is this about that leaflet you gave me? I thought that was for charity!’ I shouted back. He came closer. closer. Face furious. ‘ no! vampires! How did you even get in here?’ he gritted his teeth with anger ang er..
‘ we have our people.’ I said smartly leaning back. He grabbed me by the wrist and grabbed Katie to. I started to protest by kicking and hitting and shouting not nice things but he didn’t budge once. He led us into another ano ther door. door. Behind the door was another dark room. Lots of leather stuff. There was a light coming from the massive fish tank. It lit up the whole room. ’ what are you doing Louie? I told you I was not thirsty. thirsty. ’ the sound made me jump. It was a man. I could barely see the figure at the end of the darkened room. It was sort of like in the god father with the man sitting in his chair in his office. He turned on the lamp and I could see his face. He was in his thirties. He looked loo ked sad. At least not angry. angry. He looked at me from Katie and then to Louie. He raised his eyebrow waiting for an explanation. ’ sorry boss. I just don’t know what to do with these two. This one attacked one of our clients tonight. While he was feeding. Apparently they don’t know about our world.’ Louie said looking ashamed. Look at what happens when I try to do some justice in this world! The mans face didn’t d idn’t alter. He was expressionless. Almost bored.
’ who sent you? Are you a vampire hunter? ’ he h e asked me. I clenched my my teeth with frustration. ‘ what are you talking about? All I was trying to do was save that women from being attacked!’ I shouted. His face still remained the same. His sad white face. He could really do with a tan. He should really go on a holiday. holiday. Get out more. ‘ I don’t think you realise what you have done little girl. You have committed a crime. You will have to repay me somehow.’ he said simply. I took a deep breath. that’s right. In and out. In and out. I closed my eyes and pursed my lips trying to calm myself down. Hitting this guy would clearly be a bad idea. So just remain calm when speaking, ‘ please explain to me how I have committed a crime.’ I said keeping my voice normal. He rested his head on his fists. Keeping it civilised. ‘ well that client is one of our best. And you attacked him. That is simply one of the highest h ighest crimes around here. What don’t you understand?’ he said looking at me the whole time waiting for me to speak. ‘I get it. I do. I get that it is bad attacking a client but I thought he was eating a poor women. So how is that bad?’ I
said putting a hand on my hip. ‘ that women was getting paid a lot for what she was doing. Being a donor. She is getting paid to be bitten by a vampire. So she is not the victim in this situation. My client is. ‘ he said now. now. A little angrier but still keeping his calm. ‘ vampires aren’t real! They don’t exist! In books and movies they do but that’s it! Why are all you people so crazy!’ I shrieked. ‘ is that so? Then how do you explain this? ‘ he asked amused now. I was about to ask him by what he meant. Explain what? But then he showed me his teeth like the murderer did. They were normal. Well nice actually. Really white and straight. Then fangs popped out. And Louie caught me when I wobbled a bit. He smiled when he saw my reaction and then the fangs went and they were normal teeth again. ‘ believe us now?’ he asked still amused. I nodded not able to find my voice. I turned around to look at Katie and she seemed to be scared. Louie pulled out two chairs and told us to sit down. We We obeyed without a word.
‘ so what do we do now huh? Well Well I think we can find something for you two girls to repay us. ‘ the man said resting his chin on his fists again. I got a bad feeling from his words and I started to fiddle in my seat. ‘ wait! Your Your not going g oing to kill us are you?’ I whimpered. He shook his head and I was relieved. At least we are not going to die. ‘ no not going to kill you. But you are going to repay us. You two are going to work for me. ‘ Uh no! this doesn’t want to make me get out of bed in the morning! ‘ work how? ‘ I asked giving in. Katie stayed silent. I almost forgot she was there. Smart girl. He grinned at the question. ‘ well you,’ he said to Katie. ‘ Katie is her h er name. You You know she does have a name.’ I said before he could go on. ‘ Katie then will work on the bar with Louie. Lo uie. And you,’ he stopped waiting for me to say my name. ‘ Hannah.’ I said simply. simply.
‘ Hannah you will be a donor for my son. Every night you two will work for me as that is when we open clearly.’ he said but I stopped listening to the rest when I heard him say donor for his son. ‘ what!’ I screeched. ‘ donor! A freakin donor! No way man! that’s just out of line!’ I said. I couldn’t believe what this crazy dude is asking me to do! ‘ it is what I told you to do and an d you are doing it. We We will pay of course but just not the whole price. Half price for committing the crime. You You will work for me as long as I say. You will be free when I say you are. ‘ he said looking bored. I felt a tear come down when he said be free. f ree. We We are like prisoners here. I wiped the tear quickly away before anyone noticed. I’m going to be strong about this. Its what I do. Being strong is what I am known for. I am going to hold my head up high and accept this and work until I am free. ‘ ok. We accept.’ he laughed at what I said as if it’s the funniest thing he has ever heard. ‘ I don’t care if you accept or not. You You are working for me weather you like it or not. ‘ I looked down. This guy is pure evil. He looks so innocent but really he is the opposite.
He began opening his drawers from his desk and I heard shuffling of papers. He put them on the desk facing me and Katie and then handed me a pen. ‘ now sign this. it’s a contract. You You have to promise not to tell anybody about this place or we will come after and kill you both. Got it?’ I nodded weakly and signed my name and passed it to Katie who looks like a ghost. I looked at my new boss b oss and saw him smile. He met my gaze and smiled wider. Bastard! I smiled back. My fake smile.
I jumped up on the desk so I could reach up into the top cupboard in the kitchen. The medicine cupboard. I heard somebody enter the room from behind me. ‘ what are you doing? Are you feeling ok honey?’ h oney?’ mom said when she saw what I was doing. I found the tablets I was looking for. Mom saw the container and sighed. ’ are you anaemic honey?’ she asked worried. I shook my head. ’ uhh no. its just these tablets have iron in them and are supposed to be good for your blood. And I have been trying to be healthier.’ I said knowing she would

Ill make a extra healthy dinner for you tonight.’ she said skipping towards the fridge. ‘ thanks but uhh could you wrap it up for me in cling film and ill heat it up later when I get home?’ I said hopeful. Hoping she wont ask about my new job. She turned around confused.’ why are you going out somewhere tonight?’ she asked. ‘ well I have a new job. I thought I might help you and dad out a little. The job has great pay and I don’t need much. I’m not a impulse buyer like other teens today.’ today.’ I said as if it was no big deal. I had plenty time last night to think as I couldn’t sleep. So I saw the advantages in this. I could give mum and dad some money. money. I knew it was a good idea now because I saw moms face. She looked proud. Of me. that’s something I am not to used to, let me tell ya. She cried with delight and grabbed me in a mom like hug. I closed my eyes waiting for her to stop squeezing me to
death. ‘ cant breath mom’ I said exasperated. She let me go and pulled me in front of her so she could see my face. I think she might even be crying. I feel bad now. I wish I had thought of this before. ‘ thanks so much sweet heart. You You don’t know how much this means to us. For just trying.’ she said quietly. quietly. I nodded and smiled and when she turned around I decided to go to Katie’s. I was dazed for the whole time I was walking to Katie’s. Fresh air was good for me right now. now. I don’t know what I’m going to do. I don’t want to work at this stupid club. Heck I just found out that vampires do exist. ex ist. At least I’m not having a fit. Vampires aren’t as scary as they are in the movies. So it will be just like working in a club with humans, except that I have to sit there while someone drinks my blood. I rang the door bell b ell once. A few seconds later and Jimmy opened the door. door. He seemed surprised it was me. Maybe because I didn’t ring the bell so many times as usual. Or maybe because my face looks like how I feel. I must look terrible. He stood there frozen eyes wide with wonder. ’ is Katie here?’ I asked quietly not bothering to mess. He nodded and stepped aside. ’ are you ok Hannah?’ he asked as if worried. Jeez he’s a good actor. I nodded weakly and went straight up to Katie’s room. She was there sitting slumply on her computer chair gazing tiredly at the computer screen as if hypnotising her. She didn’t even notice me come in until I was on her bed. She jumped and turned. ’ oh hi. Uhh how are you feeling?’ she asked noticing maybe how pale I look. I closed my eyes. ‘ not good. I was just thinking about how I have to sit there while some stupid son drinks me up. Ugh! Why does life suck!’ I said angry. angry. Katie laughed. I opened my eyes to see what was so funny. I didn’t see anything. ’ I’m glad I seem to amuse you. Well Well that’s just great.’ I said closing my eyes again. ‘ no no I’m laughing at the part when you said life sucks.
Its just funny.’ she said giggling. I opened my eyes so I could cou ld see her. She looked so much better now that she was smiling. I smiled too and stifled a laugh. We were both in stitches then with our fits of laughter that it turned into. I felt good then. We looked at each other when we calmed down. I smiled and shrugged. ‘ we are in it together.’ I said biting my lip. She nodded smiling. But the smile didn’t reach her eyes. Then she jumped up with excitement. Oh no, another plan. ‘ I know what we need to cheer us up. Shopping!’ well that’s a safe idea. Well Well not if we bump into any witches or anything on the way. way. Thinking of which, I wonder if they exist to? ‘ great idea. ‘ I said as I let her drag d rag me to her car. Not that I have any say in this. When shopping shopp ing comes to mind to Katie. There is no other option but to tag along. Only this time I brought money. No need to save as much now if I have a job.

black. We got that much as we saw the staff yesterday. I’d say its staff rules, to wear all black. b lack. I saw something that I really want but it was far to expensive to even look at twice. It was a shiny black Nikon camera with 20 megapixiel’s. it would wou ld make my 10 megapixel camera look like a disposal camera. And the price was on sale but still far to expensive. I’m just not going to think about it. We were now in my bedroom trying on all our clothes. Picking which one to wear tonight. I could tell Katie was excited about going again tonight and only for one reason. Louie. I suppose I would be excited to if I were in her shoes. Like she’s got it easy really. A cute guy with dark brown hair who is about twenty maybe even nineteen. But no for me I have to be a food. I’m dinner. Is it just me or is there so many things wrong with that sentence? ‘ you look fab Katie!’ I complimented her. She smiled at me. ‘ thanks. Not so bad b ad yourself for a donor don or.’ .’ she said giggling like crazy. I shot her a dirty look and she stopped. ‘ well do you think we should go now? I think I’m ready to be sucked by

They didn’t kill us.’ she said hopeful. ‘ that’s coz you fancy the hole of Louie! And well the vampires aren’t my favourite people in the world right at this moment.’ I said. She looked down and I bit my lip. I don’t mean to make this a bad experience for her. her. But you cant blame me for fo r not particularly liking them, right? ‘ well maybe you will change your mind later.’ later.’ she said looking up at me with puppy eyes. ‘ yeah, maybe.’ I lied.
‘ Sir Joshua is waiting for you Hannah.’ Louie said as Katie entered behind the bar counter. Sir Joshua! Is he mad! I laughed as if it was the funniest thing I ever heard. Louie looked at me like I had gone mental. He stood there
waiting. I shook my head and walked over to the door where Louie pointed at earlier. earlier. I was still laughing as I reached for the door. I kept my eyes on the floor as I walked in and closed the door behind me. I was still chuckling quietly qu ietly to myself. I couldn’t see Joshua’s face as he was turned to the opposite direction. The back of him looked good anyway. His voice was familiar. ’ shall we just get this over with?’ he turned around after he said it. My quiet laughter stopped abruptly as I saw who it was. I jumped back a little. He seemed to recognise me to. And he didn’t look to happy either like , just like the last time. Can you say déjà vu or what? I looked down at his foot to see if there were any signs of it swelling like a balloon like I predicted. My eyebrow raised in confusion as I saw that it looked completely normal. Unfortunately. Unfortunately. ‘ yes my foot hasn’t been better actually, actually, thanks for asking. Vampires heal faster than humans do.’ he said amused.
Then he was by my side so fast that I felt myself go a little wobbly. He grabbed my wrists like Louie had done the night before and dragged me out the door toward my boss’s. Oh no! Not on my watch! I started kicking and yelling with more force this time then I did to Louie. But instead Joshua just looked at me and rolled his eyes and tightened his grip on me. We were standing in front of o f my boss in no time. All the shouting and punching made time fly by. by. ‘ father! I cant possibly drink from this human. How can you give me such a creature?’ Joshua snarled as his father looked up at him. I stopped kicking and shouting by then to look at my boss. My boss just looked simply bored. What a surprise! ‘ Son. This will be your donor for quite a while now so I suggest you learn to put p ut up with her.’ he said standing up as if taking charge. Joshua let go of me so he could cross his arms.
‘ But why?’ he asked like a child who begged their mum for a lolly pop. ‘ Simply because of her blood and age. She is around your age so that would be better for you and also, her blood is strong. You You can sense it, correct?’ he asked his son. Joshua nodded nod ded slightly. ‘ now go please. I have work to do and I have no time for your childish behaviour.’ he sat back down without another glance at me or his son. Joshua grabbed my arm and started to drag me back out of the room. ‘ watch it you jerk! I do bruise you know!’ I shouted in his face so he could hear especially well. ‘ she’s feisty too. The feisty ones are always best for some reason.’ said his dad from the back of the room. Joshua dropped my arm and looked at me as if I disgusted him. I rolled my eyes. Gah! These people are the weirdest! I stood awkwardly when he closed the door of his room. What am I supposed to do?
‘ Look… I don’t want to do this as much as you do. ‘ he said. It was probably the nicest thing he has ever said to me. ‘ then why do you do it?’ I asked smirking. He walked over to the bed and patted the spot beside him. Yupee! Here we go. I sat down slowly. slowly. ‘ I have no choice. I will die unless I do.’ he whispered. I looked up at him. His light green eyes almost looked sad. ‘ Its ok. Just hurry up.’ I said impatiently now. I can’t believe I just gave in like that. What can I say? I’m a sucker for those eyes! He picked up some of my dark brown hair by the side of my neck and brushed it to the back of my shoulders. That sent tickling sensations down to my feet. I shivered. It was a anxious shiver though. ’ Please don’t try to resist. It will hurt like hell.’ he whispered while he positioned his lips on my neck. I froze. I couldn’t move anywhere.
I wouldn’t move anywhere. I felt the piercing needle like meet my skin. I cried out a quiet pain because it did hurt like hell. I started to think of ways to beat this jerk up when suddenly it wasn’t hurting anymore. It felt extremely good now. It felt like I had butterflies all over me. I closed my eyes and gave in. I fell back so I was lying on my back and Joshua followed not taking his lips from my neck. He wasn’t gentle with me anymore. He was acting as if he just couldn’t get enough. Then as if realising it Joshua began to pull back. And I begged him to continue. Then he completely pulled back and it didn’t feel good anymore. It was like I woke up. The two needle holes on my neck now felt stingy and hot. I jumped up alerted. He looked at me with sorrow. sorrow.
’ I’m so sorry I think I took to much. I shouldn’t of taken so much. I don’t know what came over me its just you tasted… so different.’ he looked down in guilt and confusion not able to look me in the eyes. I felt a bit dizzy. dizzy. Anger roused through me.’ you bastard! What’s going to happen to me now?’ I shouted. He looked up still looking sad.’ you just wont be so energetic as usual. Tomorrow Tomorrow you will be fine. I don’t know what came over me. I’ve never been so out of control. You You just taste-’ he said but I cut him of before he could finish his sentence . ’ So feisty! ’ I shouted finishing his sentence for him giving him a dagger look and ran out the door. I ran out stubbly but I wasn’t giving up. I ran up to a smiling Katie who looked like she was having a blast. Lucky her. her. Her smile turned upside down as soon as she saw me. ‘ what’s wrong Hannah?’ she asked concerned. ‘ ugh its just that prick! He drank to much and now I feel like shit! I just want to go home!’ I shouted. Louie came over hearing everything. ‘ but you have to help us serve. One of our o ur staff members have quit today and you
need to fill in until we find a replacement.’ he said turning to serve a anxious customer. I groaned loudly and ducked under the counter to get in. ‘ I just need to sit down for a bit , ok?’ I said to Louie. He nodded and I found a chair and sank down into it trying to focus on getting my breathing back to normal. I saw a worried Katie look down at me and I smiled as best I could and waved her of to tell her I’m fine. She nodded and continued to work. I closed my eyes and repeated to myself I’m strong. I’m strong. Get up back out there and show them that nothing bothers you. I opened my eyes a new person and jumped up energetically with all the strength I had.
I followed Louie and Katie around trying to get used to the gist of things. By the end of the night I was completely trained. I served costumers with flying colours. And I wasn’t as dizzy. All night I hadn’t seen any sign of Joshua. Smart boy.
Coming out to try to talk to me would be bad. Bad for him.
But deep down I do feel sorry for him. I’m sure he’s very lonely. But I still hate him. It’s a pity he has to be such a asshole. If he weren’t I could imagine getting along with him really well. But he’s a self centred jerk instead so the chances on getting along with him are slim. Very slim. On the way home all I was hearing Louie this and Louie that. I pretended I cared and put a smile on my face. Its not that I don’t care about my friends happiness, I do its just I didn’t feel great at that particular time considering I just had been sucked out of like a Ribena juice box . I decided on sleeping in Katie’s house tonight as I don’t think I will make it up the stairs on my own and I don’t want my mom or dad suspicious to why I have conked out on the stairs. I text both my parents to tell them my new arrangements. I closed my eyes resting my arms on side of the door and I was asleep straight away.
I felt someone shuffle me and I groaned. I didn’t know where wher e I was but I did know one thing. And that is that I’m not waking up. The person left me be thankfully and I fell into a deeper sleep that I barely even heard the sound of the car door close. Then I was cold. Why wont people leave me alone? I just want to sleep. I felt wind at my face and felt strong arms holding me. The strong arms were warm so I didn’t groan. I don’t think it was Katie because she’s defiantly not this strong. I didn’t care who it was. All I knew was that they were warm and protective. I wrapped my arm around the persons neck as it wasn’t comfortable hanging loosely. loosely. Then the person stumbled a little and I opened my eyes hazily. It was Jimmy. If I was wide awake I would of thrown a fit and kicked him until he cried.
But I was to tired tonight. I felt to dizzy and I just wanted bed. I saw him looking at me with worried eyes. I smiled sheepishly. sheepishly. ’ Hey Jim Joe, what’s crakalakin?’ I whispered weakly. I could even tell that I sounded almost drunk. He grinned. ’ shhh..’ I obeyed and closed my eyes again. We were in a bedroom now and I could feel him put me down lightly as if I was so fragile. The feel of a soft mattress felt so good right now that I went to sleep instantly. instantly. X~x~x~x~x~x~x~x~X~x~x~x~x~x~x~X~x~x I woke up in the same spot as I was in last night. I didn’t toss and turn at all like I usually do. That would have been good news for Katie as I wouldn’t of kicked her while I tossed and turned. I got up out ou t of bed yawning and stretching. Ahh I felt normal again! What a relief. I swear I would of murdered that stupid Joshua if I hadn’t of felt good today. I glanced round to see the clock. Holy crap it was 2 in the afternoon! I looked down to see that I was in the same
clothes as I was in last night. I groaned as I looked at my face. Make up that should have been removed was all smudgy and I looked like hell. Quickly I got fresh clothes out of Katie’s closet not having to worry about asking her weather or not its ok. Sure half of these clothes in here were mine and the same with my own closet. We share a lot more then secrets. Oh and I didn’t didn ’t have to worry either about her clothes not fitting me because we are the same size to be exact. I jumped into the shower in Katie’s own private bathroom and washed that terrible night away.
I didn’t bother drying my hair knowing it would dry in the sun. I went downstairs and followed the laughter. laughter. It was coming from the kitchen. I opened the door to find Katie and Jimmy there sitting down talking at the kitchen table. Katie and Jimmy get along great actually as brothers and sisters. You wouldn’t even think they are related. Besides they don’t even look alike.
Jimmy is tall and has a quite impressive muscular bod ( which I have seen in many occasions thankfully …aww gawd did I just say that?. ) but he has Katie’s puppy like brown eyes. The kind that always manage to get their way. His hair is nothing like hers. He has dark sandy blonde kind of hair as she has light brown. I think he noticed me starring at him for quite some time as he cleared his throat looking around uncomfortable. Ahh well! I took a seat in between them. Katie was first to break the some what awkward silence. ‘ uhh so how are you feeling today Hannah?’ she said taking a sip of her tea. I nodded and shrugged. ‘ good thanks.’ I said then turning to Jimmy ‘ I’m sorry I conked out like that last night. I was just so tired.’ Jimmy looked taken back and nearly lost for words..? Was Was Jimmy lost for words? Well Well that would be a first. ‘ its ok… uhh…I didn’t mind it at all actually.’ actually.’ then he went red ‘ well you know what I mean. it wasn’t a hassle in particular.’ particular.’ he said ruffling his hair nervously. Me in bewilderment decided to not question his motives any further so I just nodded.
God how awkward can you get? Like seriously come on! I forgot that I may have worried parents waiting for me back home and immediately got my phone out of my pocket and turned it on. Hmm no messages. Then I looked up at Katie who was starring at her brother with eyebrows knitted together in confusion. ‘ I think I should go home now to show my parents I’m alive and breathing.’ I said and Katie agreed. ‘ but we have photography ph otography class today. today. ’ Jimmy said as I got up out of my seat. I grunted out loud realising that I completely forgot. ‘ ill take you. Save your mum or you dad in dropping you of. ‘ he offered. I had to look at him twice to see if he was joking. Weird. He looks completely serious. ‘ yeah that would be good I suppose. Ehh thanks.’ I said already starting to text my mum to tell her.
The car drive was perfectly fine thank goodness. I swear if it had been anymore awkward I don’t know what I
would of done. Maybe thrown myself out of the car. It was back to normal as if there was no awkwardness before and it felt so much more relaxing. I didn’t feel suspicious as I had been before. I started giggling like mad as he told me a rumour about our crazy photographer photogr apher instructor. Vivian Vivian is her name as she really is crazy! Not that she isn’t nice or anything. She is. But my god she is one crazy chick. ’ I swear, I was there when I saw it.’ he said trying to convince me. ’ so you’re telling me that you saw Vivian Vivian in her panties right before your eyes! I’m sorry but things like that don’t just happen on the regular daily basis.’ I said shaking my head but still laughing at such thought. He looked at me from the stirring wheel with a mad look in his eyes. Ha! He was really trying hard to convince me. ‘ that’s why I’m telling you the logic explanation. I saw her shoes and I think she spray painted them herself because they did look wacky and it must have been still wet or sticky because it kept catching on to her trousers, pulling them down.’ he said in a daze probably remembering the shoes. The thought of her shoes made me laugh harder until I needed air so I rolled down the window.
When I got myself controlled again I spoke, ‘ oh god! I believe you now. now. That would be something she would do. But the part I don’t get is why you didn’t look away. away. W Was as it to hard fighting the urge? Have something for Vivian now do we, huh?’ The thought of Jimmy secretly liking Vivian made me go into another fits of laughter. ‘ yeah yeah, laugh all you want. If you were there you would of done the same thing.’ he said not finding it that funny any more. Party pooper! We finally reached the building . Photography class today was fun. Today I got to play around with Vivian’s Vivian’s professional camera. It looked awfully a lot like the one in the shop but I tried not to think of that. It was fun taking pictures of just random things. Its amazing looking back at the pictures that you took. Taking them you wouldn’t of expected much of a result but when you look at them they turn out really good. Jimmy and I had to work together at one point because I didn’t have my camera with me. It would have been fun if only Jimmy wouldn’t stop taking
pictures of me when I didn’t expect it or wasn’t paying attention. I don’t know how many he took but when ever I looked at him all I saw was the camera up to his face so I’m guessing a lot really. He was just doing it to annoy me, I know that much. But when I asked to see them ( and to delete them ) he wouldn’t let me. I even put on a cute little pout to try and convince him but that only made him happier as he snapped a picture of that too. I told him that he would regret it but that only made him want to take some more. Some people are just so hard to get across! Jimmy brought me back to my own house so I could get ready for…ugh…work tonight. The word work generally means evil, did you know that?
Actually, Actually, now thinking about ab out the word evil, I’m sure the name Joshua fits in with that too.
Katie’s sympathetic face that she had for me, completely vanished the second we walked into Black Persuasion. And I know why. why. That’s right! Louie. Lo uie. So no doubt I will be getting more Louie this and Louie that in the car home. Not that, it annoys me. Well Well ok yeah it does. Because why doesn’t nice stuff ever happen to me? I really do want my friend happy and I can see she is, the moment she lays her eyes on him. I’m sure he feels the same way because as soon as he sees her he does the same thing. Its all in slow motion really. really. They freeze, their gaze locks, cant think, forget what ever it is they are doing, do something stupid like trip over a chair while walking over (
Katie actually did that! ) or spill some drink while pouring. ( and yes, Louie did that! ), Either way the result is still the same. They wake up and jump back to reality and somewhat remember where they are and get back to work. I’d say it’s a shame really in their eyes, being woken up to reality. But how do I know, right? Well I don’t but I think I could imagine it. I walked up to Louie to ask about that stupid jerk, weather or not he is to eat me now or later. later. ‘ So where is he?’ I said not bothered about being polite. I’m sure Katie will make it up to him, gladly. Louie shrugged ‘ I haven’t seen him all day actually.’ he said concentrating on arranging the glasses in order. ‘ well obviously , you haven’t seen him all day. He doesn’t stay here all day doing nothing does he?’ I said being logical. Like I’m sure a guy g uy like him is always busy. busy. I would say people his age would worship him like they do here, especially girls waiting in line for him. Vampire Vampire girls, if there is such thing. ‘ well yeah actually. actually. I think that is what he does. He doesn’t have much friends you see.’ Louie said in a whisper. whisper. Hmm. That was unexpected. He deserves it though because he is a real jerk. Still though, its gotta be tough being on your own all the time with no one your age. I decided to push it and find out

Louie turned around to face me with a very serious face. ‘ because Hannah. Sir Joshua is one of the youngest vamps out there. He’s special. He wasn’t made vampire, he was born one. And I think people get intimidated by b y him. ‘ he said and before I could ask more he turned away back to work. I decided not to push my luck any further. I turned my head to see how the turn out was tonight. Same as usual, full to the brim with customers. Now looking at them more closely I guess I could see Joshua’s point. There weren’t many teen looking vamps in the place. The dance floor stood spaciously in the middle looking deserted. Such shame. The music that was playing was rock type of music. I suppose …I could dance. Before I let myself think twice about it , I walked out onto the dance floor. I felt a lot of eyes on me but I looked up at the disco ball not letting myself look at them. I started dancing, slowly but surely. surely. I swayed my hips with the motion of the music getting in rhythm with it, faster and faster. faster. I started bobbing
my head in all directions and moving my hands with the music. I then noticed people getting up and joining me. Yes! Yes! At last! I closed my eyes relaxing a little, stress of me now as not as many is starring. I twirled round keeping my eyes closed and my head up. It felt good, like I was escaping. I forgot about all my worries for the time that I was on the dance floor. Dad, mom, money, money, Joshua meant nothing to me right now. The most important thing was the rhythm. Staying intact with the rhythm. I jumped a little when I felt someone pull me gently by the waist. I opened my eyes immediately to see a good go od looking guy around in his twenties maybe, smiling down at me. I smiled back and started dancing with him. He was a good dancer and he was fun to be with because he didn’t talk. He just danced. We were dancing for a while now. now. I noticed that much as I could see nearly everybody was on the dance floor. I smiled at what I have done. I put my hands up in the air and moved them with the beat of the music. My dancing partner laughed and took one of my hands as soon as I let it drop and brought it up to his mouth.
Shock rinsed through me. Oh please don’t bite me! , I begged in my head. But he just kissed it lightly and put it back to my side. I smiled at myself for reacting the way I did. Then I heard a manly cough come from behind me and was shocked to see Joshua there, looking pissed of. Does he ever smile? Does it hurt that much? ‘ if you don’t mind.’ he said giving my dancing partner a death glare then ceasing my wrist to drag me of the dance floor. I started to protest ‘ hey! Whatcha do that for? I was having fun!’ I shouted. He stopped briefly to turn to look at me. ‘ I couldn’t watch that! Watch Watch what he was doing to you! He was going to bite you!’ he said shouting back as much as I did. No wonder this guy has no friends. Who does he think he is, my brother? ‘ he was not going to bite me! He just ju st simply kissed my hand. Since when did you care if I was drained lifeless huh? The last time I looked, You You where the one taking care of that specific situation!’ I shrieked now. now. How dare he! He looked really angry now. ‘ I told you!’ he screamed but continued ‘ I didn’t mean to do that! It wont happen again.’ he said but then he did something that was weird. His anger completely went and it was like he changed person or
something because he looked different. He looked incredibly sad. I felt bad now for fo r shouting at him. ‘ look, I’m sorry. sorry. Really sorry. Will you just forgive me now? So we can be friends?’ he said in a voice that only made me want to fling myself into his arms to comfort him. But something stopped me. I was a little taken back. Friends? He wants to be friends? I nodded and he looked relieved. ‘ ok fine.’ I said simply and let him lead me to his room. This time he didn’t need to get me there by pulling me by any parts of my body, body, I walked on my will. As well this time I didn’t need any instruction to sit on the bed. I knew what to do. I waited for the pain to come as I closed my eyes. But I felt nothing. I don’t know why he hadn’t come in already and get it over with. And I knew he was there, I could feel his presence. I opened my eyes ready for his explanation. He was looking down at my hands. Well Well to be specific, my ring. My topaz ring that was bought for me by my grandmother a long time ago. He looked up at me with blissful eyes. ‘ you’re Sagittarius?’ he asked. I nodded. ‘ yes. How do you know?’ I asked.
He looked at me seriously.’ seriously.’ I know because I’m Libra and Sagittarius is supposed to be -- uhh never mind. Its silly anyway. anyway. Lets just get this over o ver with. I say you are dieing to get out of here.’ he looked almost sad. Before I could say anything else he reached down and got my hand that was wearing my topaz ring and brought it up to his mouth and kissed it lightly. lightly. ’ I would never want to hurt you.’ he murmured. That made the hairs on my arm stand up with bringing tickles all the way up it. He brought broug ht my arm down to my side lightly. ‘ are you ready?’ he asked still murmuring. I nodded slightly not trusting my voice to let me down by squeaking. Then he did something that very much surprised me. He picked me up bridal style and placed me on his lap. I looked at him like he was crazy and I could feel the softness that I felt for him moments ago fade and instead be replaced by my so known anger. ‘ its easier for me this way, trust me.’ he said putting his finger to my mouth to stop me from speaking. I thought about it for a while and saw no point in a screaming match.
‘ do what ever you gotta do dude. ‘ I said sighing then pushing back my hair. hair. I waited again for the pain to begin but it didn’t, not because he didn’t bite me. No, because it just wasn’t sore this time, don’t ask me why. It started to feel good again and I never wanted it to end. If the whole thing was recorded then it would be the most embarrassing thing ever! Do I dare even say why? Well because I was groaning uncontrollably! Not in a get off me way. Oh no no no! n o! In a pleasurable way. In a sexual way! Oh my god I cant believe I just admitted that! It didn’t last as long this time unfortunately. unfortunately. At least I wont be dizzy later on. Still that didn’t mean that I gave up like a snap with my fingers. Oh no! I unfortunately however begged him not to stop. I
don’t know what came over me! I just never felt anything like it before. When he pulled away he smirked. He had the cheek to smirk! ‘ don’t want me to stop , eh?’ he said in a mocking tone. Well then! I got up u p trying to get my head straight and my breathing back to normal. Then I realised that I felt a little wobbly so I sat back down to a grinning Joshua! I rolled my eyes and turned my head so I wasn’t facing him. I closed my eyes. I pretended that I wasn’t here, with Joshua, on this comfy comfy bed that really should be illegal! But its really hard to concentrate on not being there when someone like Joshua then strokes your cheek. Like come on, its so distracting. I felt myself blush but I stayed still. Your not here , I told myself. Your at …school. Now concentrate, don’t think about how good his hand feels against your cheek or how much you wish you could just bury yourself in his arms. I felt myself go even redder at the thought. ‘ hmm…your
cheek is really warm.’ Joshua murmured , amused. His hand was still on my cheek and I didn’t know what to do anymore, so I reached out, eyes still closed and grabbed his hand and tried to push it away, away, only he caught my hand han d in the process and pulled me bringing my body closer to him. My face was all smudged up now from closing my eyes so hard. I wasn’t letting my eyes give away anything. I felt him close now, now, real close. Then I felt his breath on my mouth as he whispered gently ‘ are you ok now?’ That sent me tickly all through my body but come come on, am I ok? He asks me if I am ok! Do I really look ok? Like come on I cant move for god sake! I feel a different pressure of wind and I realise that he’s not so close anymore. I open my eyes knowing its now safe. I got up. Still a little woozy but manageable. ‘ uh o-ok then, uh b-bye.’ I said stuttering and running for the door before he had chance to reply. Its crazy, crazy, yesterday I wanted to get the hell out of there as quick as possible, today I wanted to stay in there and never leave.

X~x~X~X~x~x~x~ x~x~x ‘ I cant believe it! ’ Katie said one night to me as we were sprawled out on the couch on our day off. that’s right, you heard it. Day off! We only got it for one reason and that was because b ecause of me. Stewart ( my boss , even though he really doesn’t look like a Stewart.) let us have the day off as a reward for my being such an enthusiastic employee. As for dancing and getting the people up and having fun for the last few nights. Its been a week now that we have been working there and I’m starting to enjoy myself more and more. Joshua has been …nicer. But that doesn’t mean I’m going to fall all over him like the rest of them. I’m just trying to figure him out. He confuses me sometimes, like the other night I went into the bedroom and said ‘ Sir Joshua ’ whilst doing a sort of royalty bow thing that you see people do on TV in front of royal people. I held myself back from laughing. I only really did it for a laugh but Joshua took it quite seriously and came over in a
instant and pushed me back up so I was facing him. Then when I stood up he looked at me with a very serious face and said, ‘ I don’t want you ever calling me that. ’ I was taken back. Like what the hell? ‘ then what will I call you? Everyone else seems to call you that, how come I cant too?’ I got a little bit insulted. Is there something wrong with me so that I don’t have the rights to call him by his special name that everyone else calls him by? I did not know and still a little confused even when he said , ‘ no I don’t want you calling me that. I don’t like the thought of you seeing me as your boss who you fear. fear. Please call me Joshua or Josh even, just never that.’ he said picking up my chin so I was forced into looking at his green eyes. And then I did something I regret, I don’t know what came over me but I wish I hadn’t of said it. I then said in a whisper, ‘ It would be impossible to be afraid of you.’ then realising what I had just said by his following expression on his face I added quickly, quickly, ‘ I could cou ld well kick your ass!’ he laughed at that but I thought I saw something flash quickly through his eyes. I don’t know what it is and I don’t want to be thinking anymore about him. Anyhow on our day off, Katie and I had ourselves on our
own couch each with the most junk food covering the table imaginable, watching a load of chick flicks. We were finished watching all the movies we decided that we should go shopping to spend some of the money that we got this week! Let me tell you , we got a lot! I already gave half it to mum and dad and they were so happy. happy. Although my dad wasn’t as thrilled as he found out I work in a club. But he was still proud of me. We were now walking by the camera shop and I couldn’t stop myself from stopping to look at my baby in the window. window. Katie obviously seeing my face started to encourage me, ‘ go on Hannah, Hann ah, just buy it! You You have enough money, money, don’t you?’ she said pushing me into the shop. Once I was in there was no getting me out unless I bought that camera.
I gave in, I bought bou ght it. And I don’t regret it. it’s the best ever! I cant wait to show it tomorrow in photography class.
Katie and I decided that we were starving, so we went down to the food court. I ordered a simple cheese sandwich as usual. I’m not a great gr eat food eater. I only eat a few things and I generally would not try anything else. It drives my mum crazy! We sat down then digging d igging into our sandwiches. ‘ so I have been quite confused lately,’ lately,’ Katie began looking at me with suspicious eyes.
‘ lately?’ I joked. She ignored me and continued , ‘ I have noticed you are not ‘ I hate vampires’ anymore, any reason to why that is?’ she asked not taking her eyes of me as she takes a sip of her coke. ‘ well I dunno, I’m just trying to do my job, you know, with a smile on my face.’ I said simply, simply, pointing with my finger to the smile I had on now. Katie narrowed her eyes in suspicion. ‘ so it doesn’t have to do with…someone in particular?’ she asked. ‘oh come on Katie, get to the point please, we don’t have all day.’ day.’ I said rolling my eyes. ‘admit it! You You like Joshua!’ she said smiling. I felt myself go red. ‘ no I don’t! are you crazy!’ I said then whispered the last word as I leaned closer. closer. ‘It would be crazy though, right? Because he is a… vampire…’ Katie shook her head and was about to speak when I interrupted her, ‘ and besides, its not like we could actually date, you know? Like for an example, could you imagine bringing him here?’ I said logically. logically.
Katie shook her head again, ‘ so what if he’s a vampire! I like Louie!’ she said. I shrugged, ‘ yeah, I suppose.’ I said picking up my coffee. Katie looked up over my shoulder distracted by something, ‘ and as for the last part, I can most definitely see him coming to a place like this.’ she said giggling. I don’t see how it was so funny. funny. Then Katie stood up from fro m her seat and started waving her hands all over the place like a lunatic screaming, ’ you hoo, Joshua, over here! ’ I jumped in my seat. Joshua! Wait WHAT!?!? Ha yeah right, as if Joshua would come here. ‘ very funny Katie. You You crack me up. Oh and look behind you, its Brad Pitt, you hoo! Brad!’ I said in a high pitched voice. Katie sat back down and was grinning maliciously. maliciously. I heard a manly cough from right behind me and I jumped , startled. I turned around slowly and saw a smirking Joshua behind me. ‘ uh, hi.’ he said breaking the silence.
‘ mind if I sit down?’ do wn?’ he asked politely. politely. I nodded simply and he sat down. ‘what are you doing here?’ I snapped. He didn’t look taken back like other people do when I‘m rude to them. ‘ shopping, I do wear clothes, you know.’ he said sarcastically. I rolled my eyes and faced away from him so I didn’t have to look at him. ‘ well, looks like you haven’t bought anything yet. You You know Joshua, Hannah ALWAYS know how to find the perfect clothes and deals. Maybe she can help you.’ Katie insisted. Evil Katie! ‘ actually, actually, I really-’ I started but b ut was cut of, ‘ yes , that would be great, thanks Hannah.’ Joshua said looking amused. I gave Katie a death glare only for her to return it with a wider smile. ‘ right so, should we go and get this over with?’ I said impatiently.
Joshua nodded and stood up as I did. Katie didn’t get up. ‘ well, are you coming?’ I asked her. her. ‘ nope, I’m not feeling great and I want to go home. Joshua, will you drop her home please?’ Katie said turning to Joshua. Joshua nodded, ‘ it would be my pleasure.’ he said politely. politely. I gave Katie another death glare, only she didn’t see it. I grunted in annoyance but nobody listened. ‘ thanks, and look after her for me.’ Katie said. ‘ I have no other intention, then doing so.’ he said smiling. Katie smiled then to turned to look at me. ‘ okay! Lets go! I don’t have all day, you know!’ I argued. Joshua nodded and began to walk of and I followed after I gave Katie another dirty look. ‘ you know you love me.’ she said laughing. I ran up to catch up with Joshua. He walked into the first men’s shop that came to sight. It was the most expensive shop also. I waited for him to look around not knowing what to do,
but it never happened. He knew exactly what to be looking for. ‘ hey!, you don’t even need my help!’ I shouted as soon as I realised. He turned around to look at me. Then smiled. ‘ of course, I dont! but I do like the company.’ company.’ he said. I sighed and rolled my eyes. I should of realised. I mean, he does dress pretty good for a guy. guy. And not in a gay g ay way! He grabbed a few sweaters that I probably would of picked out myself and headed towards the changing room. The girl directed him to the rooms and said that I could go in. I followed him in and sat down in the seat in front of the curtained booth that he went into. Only he didn’t pull over the curtain full way. way. So I could see everything! He didn’t notice me starring so I let myself continue, not feeling guilty. He was taking of his sweater and now I got a good look at his six pack. Oh my was it incredible! It is just so perfect! He must work out all the time! It was worth it, believe me because he looks like a model! De-lish , literally!
He caught me looking at him h im in the reflection of the mirror. mirror. He smirked and winked at me. I turned away quickly hoping he doesn’t notice me blush. I started singing a song in my head to distract me for wanting to turn my head back to look again. He came out then modelling a navy sweater that showed of his muscles absolutely everywhere. He didn’t ask for my opinion, probably seeing my mouth hanging open. ‘ ill get this one then.’ he said amused. I gave him a face that said , whatever! He chuckled as he went back in to change.
We went to several shops, repeating the same procedure. Time Time flew by as I looked at my watch. We We where shopping for four hours! The scary thing is, I wasn’t even getting bored! And I’m not shopping mad like Katie is. I still felt suspicious to why he came out though. Maybe I’m just being paranoid. I decided to ask him, otherwise I will probably get a head ache from thinking about it to much.
‘ why did you come here?’ I asked coming to a halt as we were on our way to another shop. He stood looking confused, ‘ I told you, I needed some new clothes.’ he said pointing down to the bags. I squared my shoulders, ‘ I don’t believe it, tell me the truth.’ I demanded. He sighed tiredly. tiredly. ‘ Hannah, I may not seem human sometimes but believe me, we don’t have a special vampire shopping centre ,so that does mean I have to shop in places like this.’ he said sarcastically. sarcastically. I narrowed my eyes in suspicion. I stood there for a moment thinking. Then I figured it out. ‘ ugh! I cant believe it! You You did this so you could drink from me! What part of day off don’t you understand? God I’m so stupid! How am I so stupid?…’ I shrieked. People walking by probably thought we were lunatics but I didn’t care. He looked insulted. ‘ so that’s how you think of me...’ he notified. I regretted yelling at him then. The sad Joshua came back and I couldn’t help it but give in. ‘ I’m sorry, sorry, I’m just being paranoid. p aranoid. Please , forgive me. I
didn’t really mean it.’ I said. He looked down , refusing to meet my gaze. I tapped my hand on his cheek. He brought his eyes from the ground to meet mine. He smiled weakly, ‘ you don’t really think I’m like that, do you?’ he said biting his lip. I shook my head and grinned. ‘ no, absolutely not. Well Well at the beginning I loathed you! But now… now its… different. I think the opposite of o f you now.’ now.’ I said and felt myself go warm in the cheeks, hopefully not noticeable. He smiled a true smile, ‘ oh yeah?, and that is…?’ he asked one eyebrow raised. ‘ I think you’re … wonderful.’ I said licking my lips nervously. He chuckled playfully. playfully. ‘ you do now? no w? And what about my six pack, do you think that’s wonderful too?’ he said laughing. I felt myself go really red now in the cheeks. Oooh fudge! ‘ yeah, yeah , yeah, yeah. Think what ever you want pretty boy, boy, but I have seen better, better, just to let you know.’ I said smirking. He narrowed his eyes thinking, ‘ so its pretty boy now , is
it?’ he said chuckling then continued, ‘ first I was wonderful and now pretty boy, boy, I just cant see how it can get any better then this!’ he said laughing. I rolled my eyes. So typical! X~X~x~x~x~X~x~X~x~x~x~X~X~X No. This cant be happening! How did he even do it? How did he manage to get his way like that? Impossible! I’m in the changing room trying on a seriously expensive dress that should be illegal! I don’t even want to say the figure out loud its so bad. All I know was we were walking along to the arcade so I could whip his ass in a game of pool table and suddenly he disappears by my side. I turn around and I see him looking at a window of a shop. A girls shop by the way. So I walk over and see what he’s looking at. Which is a dress! So I laugh and an d say, say, ‘ ehm I don’t do n’t really think that’s your colour! Maybe if it was in green but purple, I’m not so
sure.’ he rolls his eyes and shakes his head and says simply ‘ you have to try it on.’
So now I’m in the changing room to afraid to go out to show it to Joshua. It feels weird on me. I have never worn anything like it before. Its purple V neck and it hugs tightly around aro und my body making my figure look good. Its sparkly also. I’ve never worn anything sparkly before. ‘ would you hurry up! don’t make me have to drag you out of there.’ Joshua says from behind the curtain that I have closed shut the whole way, way, just to let you know. ‘ you wouldn’t’ I said horrified. ‘ do you want me to show you?’ he challenged. I sighed loudly. loudly. Might as well get this over with. I pulled the curtain back and walked outside of the booth. I walked over to the bigger mirror without looking at Joshua. When I was in front of the mirror I saw that he was behind me. Directly behind me. His mouth was hanging open speechlessly. I don’t see why. why. I focused on the dress. I suppose suppose its nice.
Ok, its really nice. And I guess it makes me look super duper skinny, skinny, but that doesn’t mean I spend that sort of money! No way! I shook my head pursed my lips to Joshua through the reflection. ‘ are you crazy? You have to get that dress! You look …’ he said thinking. I interrupted him before he could finish. ‘ it doesn’t matter. matter. Its far to expensive.’ I decided. He clearly was about to speak but I could see what was coming so I spoke before he got the chance. ‘ I’m getting tired and I have my photography class tomorrow. tomorrow. Would Would you be able to drop me home now?’ I urged. I could tell he was annoyed but I pretended not to notice. He nodded weakly and I smiled at him. As I was walking back to the changing booth I heard him mutter, mutter, ‘ so stubborn!’ angrily under his breath. I smiled wider.
‘ that’s it. that’s it there. The second last house to the right.’
I directed. He parked right outside my house. I bit my lip. I don’t know why but suddenly I felt nervous. ‘ so ehh, thanks for dropping me home’ I said stupidly. stupidly. Joshua smiled. ‘ thanks for your help.’ he said. ‘ no that you needed it...’ I said while I stepped outside the car. car. ‘ well see ya tomorrow tomorrow.’ .’ I added before closing the door. I started to walk towards my door when I heard him call my name. I turned back round and saw that he was out of the car leaning against it. He motioned with his hands to come back over. ‘ did I forget something’ I asked looking through th rough his window. He shook his head. ‘ no, I just wanted to ask you if maybe you would like like to do something tomorrow.’ tomorrow.’ he suggested. I raised my eyebrows in confusion. ‘ in the club?’ I asked. ‘ no. I mean do something before that. In the day preferably?’ he asked. He stood there waiting for me to respond because I was taking a while doing so. But come on! He wants to hang out!
‘ its ok. Never mind.’ he said and started to turn back into his car. ‘ wait!’ I said a little to quickly. quickly. He hesitated then stopped and turned back to face me. ‘sure, I’d love to. How about pick me up after my photography class?’ I said. ‘ Sounds perfect.’ he said grinning. I gave him the directions to the place and he zoomed of down the road, in a speed that is definitely over the speed limit. I chuckled quietly to myself as I let myself in the house. Dad caught sight at me and looked at me suspiciously. suspiciously. ‘ what has you so happy?’ he asked narrowing his eyes. ‘ oh nothing.’ I lied.
‘ Ta Ta ta daddy.’ I said to my dad as he dropped me of to my class. He drove of happily as our conversations in the car were different then usual. Usually road trips for me meant, lecture. Lecture on how to behave and learn to appreciate my life more and blah ,blah blah! Today on the other hand was different. Daddy dearest and I had a deep meaningful conversation about Coke Cola! Yes Yes Coke Cola! It was the first time that we had ever had a conversation that was not a serious matter. matter. Such as money. money. I haven’t heard the word money been said in a bad manor in ages. So that must be a good sign. I hope. I walked in the door excitingly as I clutched my new camera by my side. Vivian was first to greet me with her strange hug as she usually gives, ‘ hello Hannah dear. Come to join us?’ she said in her squeaky voice that I don’t think I will ever get used to, although I am able to look her in the eyes without going into hysterias of laughter. ‘ yes, just like every other week. I always show up.’ I say once again. I look around for someone sane to talk to and see that Jimmy is there talking to Abbie, the new girl in class. I wave my hand to try get his attention but he doesn’t see
me because he’s to busy by having h aving all his attention on her. her.
And no I am not n ot jealous it’s just Abbie, she’s bad news. Honestly she’s got this whole punk ,emo look going on and I would say she has about twenty piercing, not that I don’t like piercing, I do, do , but I would say no thanks to twenty.
Oh and when it was her first day here, I tried to be nice to her, you know, know, show her the ropes or whatever. whatever. I guess she is pretty underneath all that heavy black make up but her personality matches her look perfectly as she was as rude as hell!
All I did was say, say, ‘ hi I’m Hannah.’ Hann ah.’ with my hand out ready to shake but all she did was look at me blankly so I spoke again, giving it another shot. ‘You ‘You may think we are all mental here as we do things differently around here but believe me you will get used to it. What’s your name, again?’
And she was all like, ‘ eh I don’t think so.’ then getting her iPod out of her pocket, making the volume higher, hig her, leaving my free hand hanging in the air, shakeless. So yeah I think its safe to say that Abbie and I will not be having slumber parties in each others house, painting each
others nails and doing make overs. Ha definitely not! I actually despise the girl. I wave my hand again but he is to busy with her. Looks like they are fighting from what I can see, which I suppose is not much because I see the back of her head and Jimmy simply is looking confused and serious at the same time. Anger washed through me. I rushed so Jimmy had back up. I bet they are having a bitch fight right about now because Jimmy isn’t the type of guy to let her speak to him like that. ‘ do you need any help with her?’ I said straight out, not caring if I was rude seeing how horrible she was. Jimmy is looking at me with confusion triggering around his mouth. Yes his mouth. He does this squishy half lopsided smile when he’s confused. don’t ask me how I know this. Because I honestly don’t know. know.
‘ what are you talking about Hannah?’ he asks in complete confusion. I nodded towards Abbie and before I could explain myself I saw a hand flutter across the corner of my eye. I turn my head and see Abbie there, with her hand h and as if she
wanted me to shake it. ‘ hi I’m Abbie. I believe I didn’t get to fully introduce myself last week.’ she said sweetly. sweetly. I looked down at her hand in disgust. I was furious! There was no way I was going to let her get away with this! ‘ emm actually, actually, I tried to introduce myself last week and you completely ignored me!’ I said narrowing my eyes not backing down. ‘ what are you talking about ? Oh my, my, Jimmy you are so right, she really is something!’ she giggles flirtatiously to Jimmy, who grins back, believing her. ‘ what do you work as?’ she asks clearly changing the subject on purpose. ‘ I work in a club.’ I said blankly. ‘ that’s so wicked! I bet there are lots of sexy guys there.’ she said again being totally fake. ‘ you’re right about that..’ I said accidentally , my mind starting to wander else were. I felt Jimmy look at me so I turned my head. He was looking at me again with that confused mouth. ‘ oh yes and about this Joshua guy, my sister told me all about him and I have to say--’ he said but he didn’t finish because he stopped abruptly as Vivian’s squeaky voice echoed loudly lou dly from the other end of the room.
For some reason I felt that I was saved from the bell. I don’t know why, considering I don’t give a shizz about what Joshua has to say. say. And I did not like the way he was with this lunatic either!. ‘ hello, hello welcome. I’m glad to see you are here, all looking so young and healthy. healthy. that’s just fabulous.’ she said it oddly, oddly, obviously not finding find ing it as fabulous as she says it to be. She continued, ‘ this week I am setting all of you an individual task. I want you to take as many photographs of the one thing as you can. You You have to pick something, someone, anything. It can be absolutely anything. Pick it and work with it. Each photo has to be different. The same thing but a different meaning. Then next week, individually you will present your work on the computer and ill have the big projector out so your images will be huge for everyone to see. Understand? Does everybody understand what they have to do? This is in order to figure what it is you are interested in. ’ Vivian instructed loudly and slowly like we were morons. Everyone said yes together tog ether like in school. Vivian Vivian smiled showing her crooked teeth. Well this should be fun fu n if only I could figure out what it is I want ‘it’ to be. Hmm?
x~x~x~x~x~x~x~x~x~x~x Jimmy and Abbie were all over each other for the whole class. And yeah I got a bit annoyed because as I said she is a freak! So let me tell you when I say I ran , I mean I literally ran for the door when Vivian Vivian said class was over because I just couldn’t get out of there fast enough. So I’m running down the stairs now so I can go home as soon as possible. I pushed the door open and felt the cool air rush to my face. It felt good and real. I began to walk but then gasped and froze. Joshua. Oh yeah, we arranged this. How did I even forget? I was looking forward to this all day! He was there leaning against the door if his car. His hair was getting blown in the wind and he kept on messing with it because it was obviously annoying him. Oh my he looked De-lish! Urm anyway, He hasn’t seen me yet. So I started walking. I heard the door open from behind me and I hear a girl
giggle girlishly. girlishly. I turn tur n around and see Abbie with Jimmy come out just like I expected. This only made me walk faster toward Joshua. He seen me now and smiled wide. I couldn’t help smiling back. ‘ Hey.’ Hey.’ he said. ‘ Hi.’ I said cheerfully. cheerfully. I’m glad we decided to do this. He opened the door for me and I slipped in and he closed it when I settled down. I turned my head left and saw Jimmy stand at least two metres away. away. He was starring at me. He looked like he was horrified. No. He looked worried. When he saw me stare back at him he continued to keep gawking at me. I decided to take advantage of the situation. I rolled down the window windo w so he could see me properly. properly. ‘ bye Jim Joe!’ I grinned maliciously, maliciously, waving and then I stuck out my tongue! Joshua got in and we were of so there was no time for Jimmy to reply. reply. But I did get to see his face. And that did not look to happy let me tell you. ‘ so how was class?’ Joshua asked me. ‘ oh it was good. She gave us homework though for the first time.’ I sighed. ‘ what do you have to do?’ he asked turning to look at me from the stirring wheel.
I went through with him what I do and he didn’t interrupt. Instead he seemed interested. ‘ so basically, basically, I’m screwed because I don’t don ’t have a clue what to do. Like I don’t know what to take pictures of.’ I grunted. ‘ don’t worry about it. It will come to you.’ he assured. He looked at me and smiled sweetly. sweetly. ‘ so…uhh , where are we going anyway?’ I asked remembering. ‘ it’s a surprise.’ he said. I sighed loudly, ‘ you shouldn’t of said that. Now I’m going to be guessing for the whole journey. journey. How about you give me a hint?’ I tempted. Joshua shook his head and by it I could tell he was not going to give in. ‘ great that’s just fabulous! Now I’m of to guessing land. So your loss.’ I announced. He laughed looking ahead. I definitely did not have one clue to where we were going. I have never been on the roads that he was taking so I am so clueless. He turned a last turn which soon brought us up to a big flashy looking sign that said, ‘ Acorn Forest and Activity
Centre.’ The name sounds kiddish but surprisingly its its not. That I knew from when we drove in all I saw was adults and teenagers. Not one kid in sight. I was still so surprised. I would not of figured this one out, that’s for sure. ‘ you brought me to a activity centre?’ I declared more then questioning. Joshua turned of the engine as soon as he was parked. Then he turned to look at me. He smiled maliciously. maliciously. ‘ believe me you are going to love it! Wait Wait and till you see what this place has got.’ he insisted. ‘ ok if you say so.’ I muttered. Its not that I was disappointed in coming here, its just I remember coming to a place like this before when I was younger. In school actually and it was not one of my most proud moments. Lets just leave it at that. We got out of the car now and were walking towards what it looked like the reception. I felt something bang of my side so I looked down and saw that I was still holding my camera. Ah well might as well take pictures of some things for the fun of it. Joshua held the door for me politely. politely. When we were in I saw that it was a reception. Lots of people were queuing up
and from what I could see, they looked annoyed. Probably because of it taking so long. Joshua went up to the man behind the glass and said, ‘ Joshua and Hannah.’ and just like that. Then the man jumped up eagerly, eagerly, ‘ oh yes, of o f course. Just go straight ahead and you will be at your first activity which will be the ice house. Have fun!’ he said forgetting all those annoyed people just so he could talk to Joshua? I started to feel suspicious, ‘ how did he know who you are? Have you been here before?’ I asked. ‘ no …I ….this is my first time. I just booked in early is all.’ he stammered. ‘ yeah right!’ I barked. We reached the sign that said, ‘ ice house , this way’ with a big red arrow pointing right. We We went right and that th at led us down a pathway to another door. A metal door. Joshua being manly opened it and again held it for me. I walked in and immediately felt my blood go cold. I was shivering in seconds. Then I saw what was in front of me. It was a house. Well Well a small house. More like the size of a cottage to be exact. It was made out of ice! I know it said Ice House on the sign but come on you would have been surprised too when you saw it. The person who did this had to of been a genius! There were windows
and everything! Although, there wasn’t a door. ‘ come on , you know you are supposed to go inside the house. Not just stand there like a moron looking at it.’ he said. I immediately started walking, ‘ Ha ha.’ I said sarcastically. sarcastically. We went through the door less door and I was again surprised. There was a ice couch in the living room with, a TV, TV, desk. Everything was made out of o f ice. It was amazing! I quickly took up the camera hanging from my side and started snapping away pictures. I looked at Joshua and saw him smiling delightfully. delightfully. ‘ so do you think we can actually sit down on the couch?’ he challenged. ‘ I dare ya!’ I urged. Joshua shrugged and sat down on the ice couch. I went to face the front on him so I could see his expression. He looked paralysed with the freezing cold. He looked hilarious! His face was all scrunched up from being uncomfortable. I acted quickly and took pictures of him. He didn’t argue. He changed his expression each time. Getting funnier and funnier. I laughed while taking each one.
‘ ok I think that’s enough for now n ow.’ .’ he declared getting up and then made a face. ‘ ha! Is your butt numb?’ I asked laughing. He nodded, ‘ the things you get me to do.’ he complained. I laughed harder at that.
Later on , when we left the Ice House we went to our next activity. activity. Activity two. It had lots of arrows leading us and our last sign said ‘ Underground Tunnels.’ Tunnels.’ beside the sign there was a man standing to next to it. ‘ good afternoon. Is it just you two?’ he asks politely. politely. ‘ yes, just us two. I have booked the place just for us two.’ Joshua said to the man. The man nodded understandingly un derstandingly.. ‘ ah yes. You You must be Joshua.’ he said to him. I turned to look at Joshua. When he met my eyes I narrowed mine. ‘ I just booked b ooked early.’ early.’ I mimicked in a manly voice. Joshua couldn’t help but bu t smile. The man led us to the black door. Then he gave me a red aluminous jacket and gave Joshua a blue one. On the jacket there was a black square.
It almost looked like a TV except it was made out of plastic. This all looks familiar. familiar. I just cant quite seem to remember. remember. The man went through to a small room and then came back with two long looking guns. Plastic obviously. He handed me one and the other to Joshua. Now I know what this is! I did this when I was younger! I have been to something like this for a birthday party. Although, this one looks loo ks way flashier. flashier. This one looks more adulty. ‘ ok so I just have to go through the rules and then then of you go.’ he began. ‘ no wait.’ I interrupted before he could go on. ‘ cant you just leave it? Its always better when you don’t know what to do.’ I insisted. The man looked taken back. ‘ I cant do that. My boss would kill me if he were to find out.’ he said shaking his head apologetically. apologetically. ‘ no he wont. Don’t worry he wont find out.’ Joshua murmured. The man stood expressionless. No he stood hypnotised then spoke, ‘ your right. He wont
find out. Go on in.’ he said in a daze. ‘ thank you.’ Joshua said and led me towards the door. door. He started walking only I didn’t follow. As soon as he realised I wasn’t with him he turned back. Then seeing my face he said, ‘ what’s wrong?’ I pursed my lips trying to think. What I saw there gave me a bad feeling. Something about the way Joshua spoke to that man scared me. It felt unnatural. ‘ what did you just do back there?’ I mumbled. He walked up to me so we were inches apart, ‘ just a little bit of persuasion.’ he replied. ‘ so what. You You can hypnotise people now?’ I asked interested. He laughed only o nly I didn’t quite get the joke. ‘ no. Vampire Vampire powers.’ he whispered. I almost had forgotten that he was a vampire. ‘ right I see. But he isn’t harmed is he? He will be ok, right?’ I asked concerned. Joshua smiled sweetly, sweetly, ‘ yes he is completely fine. No harm done.’ he assured me. ‘ good coz if you did hurt him then I would of done something you would regret.’ I teased.
His eyebrow went up and he smiled crookedly, crookedly, ‘ really? And that would be?’ he asked. ‘ are you challenging me?’ I questioned. ‘ maybe..’ he said. ‘ well then. It looks like you will just have to wait and see.’ I notified. He nodded once and walked into the dark tunnel. I could only see his aluminous blue jacket. He went right and I started running left to charge up my gun in the booth. The gun boosted to life when I was finished charging it. The place was so dark I could barely make out my own two feet. There were so many tunnels to go down and many options to choose. I started walking fast toward the tunnel directly in front of me. I had my camera in my jumper pocket so it was safe. I held out my gun in front of my chest protectively. When I got to the end of this tunnel I had a option to go left or right. I choose left. I heard footsteps coming from a different tunnel so I started to quicken my pace.
I then broke into running from my tension building up. I came across many turns and I wasn’t thinking anymore which way to choose. I started to get tired and my breathing was getting heavier so halted to a stop to catch my breath. The footsteps were no longer in a hearing distance so maybe he had taken a different turn. Or maybe not, ‘ oh Hannah…’ he called coming from the end of the tunnel. I could now see his blue jacket. I jumped up and began running again only running backwards so I could run and shoot at the same time. My gun started making rippling noises sounding loud as it was the only sound breaking the silence, apart from the footsteps that is. He started shooting then too and then it sounded like a war between the two noises of our guns. I let my gun hang around my neck as I took my camera out from my pocket. Hesitantly I took a few pictures. Hopefully it will be able to pick up in the dark. That didn’t stop Joshua. He took advantage as he kept on shooting me as I was unarmed. I took up my gun again and started shooting him faster to
try make up for the few seconds. He was closer now as he didn’t have to run backwards like me. This tunnel was different then all the other o ther tunnels that I was in. This one just kept on going. It was straight and there was no turns to lead you onto a new one. I tried not to think about that as I continued shooting Joshua. ‘ prepare to die Joshua!’ I shouted. I started shooting faster making the gun make different noises. ‘ don’t you know that its very hard to kill a vampire?’ he shouted back. I laughed loud enough for him to hear me. ‘ you don’t scare me’ I roared. He was closer now. now. About 5 metres away so there was probably no need to shout. ‘ we’ll see about that.’ he shouted even though I could hear him.
‘ huh?’ I urged. I then got what he meant as I felt something hard hit me. A wall. I turned around and saw a sign that said, ‘ Dead End. Ha Ha.’ oh very clever.
I was stuck. I had no where to go. No way out. Only way to get out would be to get by him. He was walking up to me now, with a relaxed face on. He knows he has me. He wasn’t even shooting anymore. That reminding me I started shooting him with more focus on the black plastic box as I could see it more clearly now. now. He didn’t look alarmed, in fact he looked completely chilled out. He was closer to me now that I could see his face, his smug smile. ‘ surrender?’ he asked amused. ‘ NEVER!’ I shouted. He laughed and I held myself back from laughing too. ‘ very well then. Prepare to die Hannah!’ he said repeating my words from fro m earlier. I thought quickly of o f how to get past him. Ah ha! I know! ‘ ok. Ok I surrender.’ surrender.’ I whined. ‘ you do?’ he asked surprised. I walked up closer and stood on my tippy toes so my face was inches from his. He looked even more surprised as he stood perfectly still. Perfect.
‘ yes. In fact , I completely surrender.’ surrender.’ I murmured in a whisper. whisper. He looked confused. ‘ if you know what I mean…’ I chuckled flirtatiously. I got my free hand and stroked his cheek. The coolness of his cheek against my hand felt good against my hot skin. I brought my hand down but still tempted to keep on touching him. Now he got it. I could tell as the confused expression went and was returned by a crooked smile. He began to lean in and I ducked quickly from his free side. I got him of guard so he stood clueless as I began to run back up the straight tunnel. ‘ gotcha!’ I giggled and quickly grabbed my camera getting one last picture before I ran of again. ‘ oh no you didn’t!’ he nagged as he broke into a faster run catching up with me second by second. My breathing was getting heavier again so I stood not caring if he caught up with me. I had another an other plan anyway. anyway. He caught up to me seconds later like I knew he would. ‘ I … just … need … to … catch … my breath.’ I said
breathing hard. He didn’t shoot like I thought he would of. Big mistake there mister. mister. I looked down to see where he had his gun and saw that he was holding it loosely by his side. Perfect. He came closer like I knew he would. Without Without hesitation I snatched the gun from him and flung it across the other end of the tunnel. He looked shocked. He shook his head devilishly. I pointed my gun at him and backed him up to the wall so he was in position that I was in last. Stuck. ‘ just to let you know how I felt.’ I sneered. Joshua chuckled. ‘ surrender?’ I said while I shot him like a gazillion times. He didn’t say anything. Instead he just looked at me. I have to be on full awareness as I know he could get out of here in seconds with that special vampire speed that is part of the package. I stopped shooting so he would say something. I looked up at him with my eye brows raised, waiting.
‘ so I take it that you do sur--’ but I didn’t finish because he stopped me by giving me a quick kiss on the lips. Then this time he swung by me running ‘ Gotcha!’ and while saying it I saw the flash light come from the darkness. He got my camera as well! I stood there completely dazed! How did he do it? I laughed at my stupidity. ‘ alls fair in love and war!’ he chuckled. I was about to start running after him again only the lights came on. I guess that means game over. over. ‘ do you want to get something to eat now?’ he asks naturally like he didn’t just kiss me. What the hell! ‘ yeah sure.’ I answered. I am kinda pissed of though to be honest. I cant let him know that though because he would just love it. So I’m going to pretend as if it didn’t even matter. We walked back out to the man that Joshua had h ad just hypnotised a while ago. ‘ have a good day.’ he says as we walk by him. I turn to look at him to see if he is ok. He looks completely
normal, thank god. We went to a little café just a few minutes down and I ordered a chocolate muffin with coffee. Joshua didn’t order anything, of course.
‘what’s wrong?’ he asks as I nibbled away on my muffin in a daze. ‘ huh? Oh nothing. nothing . Why?’ I said smiling, my fake smile. ‘ there is something wrong.’ he said studying me closely. closely. ‘ I’m. Fine.’ I said simply. simply. ‘ its about that guy isn’t it?’ he asked. ‘ uhh what guy?’ I asked clueless. ‘ the one you stuck your tongue out at.’ he said and I realised that Joshua is a lot smarter then he seems. ‘ well yeah I guess.’ I said sighing. ‘ so what ..? Is he like your boyfriend or something because I might even feel bad for kissing you in the tunnels if he is?’ he muttered. ‘ oh NO, god no!’ I said a little to fast and loud. ‘ Jimmy, Jimmy, he’s Katie’s older brother.’ brother.’ I explained.
‘ oh ok well in that case then, I don’t regret it and even if he was your boyfriend I wouldn’t of regretted it.’ he said amused. ‘ so why are you upset again?’ he asked confused. ‘ he was with this girl g irl today in class. I don’t don’ t like her. She’s bad news.’ I said, not knowing why I have to explain myself to him. Ignoring the kiss comment because I know he was joking from that smirk he had painted on his face. ‘ seems like you are jealous.’ he predicted. ‘ I am NOT jealous! Ugh, never mind you wouldn’t understand until you see her for yourself.’ I said irritated, again not seeing why it was any of his business even if I was jealous. Which I am NOT! ‘ ok sure.’ he said faking to believe me. ‘ can we go to the next activity?’ I asked impatiently. impatiently. Joshua nodded and stood up. He led me to the last activity. activity. Well the last one we were doing anyway. The forestry walk. We were both given a map. I handed it straight to Joshua because me and directions just don’t don ’t go good together tog ether.. I was in charge of the compass though, so I still felt like I was important instead of just following Joshua and letting him do everything.
‘ ok so this way is east and that way is west.’ I said pointing in all directions. Joshua didn’t look at my pointing, instead he just looked straight ahead, probably not trusting me. ‘ so.. How long have you known this Jimmy?’ he asks. I knew it was coming, it was only a matter of time. ‘ since I was five. He’s like a brother to me.’ I said simply. simply. Joshua snickered, ‘ so that’s what you say.’ say.’ he muttered under his breath. I pushed him by the shoulder. shoulder. ‘ would you stop? stop ? God! Now YOU are the one who is acting jealous!’ I said rolling my eyes. Joshua stopped abruptly in his tracks. ‘ I’m not jealous!’ he shrieked. I chuckled, ‘ well you sure do know how to act like one.’ I taunted. ‘ I do not!’ he scolded. ‘ oh yes you dooo!’ I nagged playfully. ‘ I’m going to get you for that.’ he warned.
‘ oh I’m so scared! ’ I urged. I started running as fast as I could then, dodging trees, and logs on the ground as I ran. ‘ you think your so scary! Well guess what Joshua! You don’t scare meeee!’ I shouted teasingly as I ran. I turned around to see where he was. He was right behind me grinning. I turned around and was about to quicken my pace only a log that I didn’t see tripped me over and now I was sent crashing down on the ground. All the leaves and grass were wet as it was raining today, but it felt refreshing against my skin. Then, Joshua tripped over me and that sent him crashing down to the ground beside me. I laughed loud and took my camera out to take the picture of him and all the leaves in his hair. Then I lay back, still laughing to look up at the sky. sky. He was laughing to and rolling around on the ground like a dog. I laughed again at that and then closed my eyes. I felt so relaxed here. The cool breeze sweeping down onto my face and the trees whistling in against the wind and the birds chirping together singing a song. It would be easy falling asleep in this.
I felt warm wind at my cheek and my eyes immediately fluttered open. Joshua was leaning in, inches from my face. I felt paralysed. I couldn’t move. And I don’t think I wanted to either. His eyes fixated on my lips. I closed my eyes again and waited for his lips to meet mine. Only they didn’t. Instead I felt his cool breath against my lips just like last time in his room. ‘ I am not jealous.’ he breathes onto my lips. I open my eyes immediately and see that he is standing up. So quick. Stupid vampire and his stupid super strength. I got up, embarrassed, and started brushing of the leaves of my clothes. ‘ you ready to go now? According to the map, we should be close to a bridge.’ He said engrossed by his map. Bridge. He said bridge. Awh Awh no! please make it be a small bridge, please! I followed him as he started walking. We We were walking for ages and my legs began to feel numb but I didn’t complain. All I could think about was this bridge. And what happened last time. ‘ ok. We’re We’re here. that’s it there.’ Joshua said pointing in
font of him. I gasped when I saw how big the bridge was. It was gigantic! Way Way bigger then the last one. I wasn’t even afraid of heights. No, I have like a bridge phobia. I’m afraid it will snap. Joshua walked of not affected by it at all as he got on. He turned around, eventually noticing that I’m not with him. ‘ come on! We We don’t have all day!’ he complained. I shook my head stubbornly stubb ornly.. ‘ nah ha! Not happening.’ I said and decided to sit down on a trunk of a tree. He came back with confusion spread across his face, ‘ are you afraid of heights or something?’ he asked. I shook my head and closed my eyes hard. ‘ no. the bridge will snap.’ I said simply, simply, not explaining. I opened my eyes and he seemed to understand. ‘ I see. So that’s your phobia phob ia now is it. Well Well don’t worry, ill look after you. If it snaps I will turn into a bat and whisk you away with me.’ he chuckles, only I didn’t find it quite as funny as he did. I gave him a dirty look. ‘ I cant do it.’ I shrieked. ‘ of course you can. Here how about I carry you. That way if
you fall, I will get hurt and you will fall on me.’ he estimated. ‘ oh great. That just makes me feel so much better.’ better.’ I said sarcastically. sarcastically. I continued, ‘ no I don’t don ’t want to be carried thank you very much. So another suggestion would be great.’ I said. ‘ close your eyes.’ he said gently. gently. I closed my eyes unwillingly and then felt his hand take mine and bring me up. He kept my hand as he guided me. I didn’t think of where he was taking me. I just concentrated on not tripping over anything. Joshua started talking to me the whole time. Telling Telling me random things like his favourite name or how he really wanted to go to school. This kept my mind occupied and I was only thinking about the words he was telling me. Nothing else mattered. ‘ you did it. Open your eyes.’ he said and I finally stopped walking. I opened my eyes and saw that we were on the other side of the bridge. I started to jump up with excitement. ‘ you’re right! I did it! I really did it! Thanks so much!’ I said putting my arms around his neck to hug him lightly. ‘ that’s ok. You did it all by yourself. You just needed to be distracted.’ he stated. He took out the map from his pocket, ‘ I think we are
nearly home. We We can go this way here and that will lead us to the car park.’ he said pointing to the right. ‘ yeah, lets go. My legs are killing me. I need to go home and have a long bath.’ I said laughing. ‘ sure. And maybe next time we can camp out.’ he offered. ‘ maybe..’ I insisted and smiled. ‘ oh crap!’ I shouted, remembering. Joshua looked startled, ‘ what’s wrong?’ he asks still startled. ‘ what time is it?’ I asked. ‘ehh, nine, why?’ he asked. ‘ because you dumb ass!, I have to go to work tonight! Yesterday was my day of, not today!’ I shrieked. Joshua pursed his lips trying to think, ‘ its alright, ill tell my dad I went around to your house instead of making you come in.’ he answered. ‘ can you do that?’ I asked dazed. ‘ of coarse I can.’ he h e said simply. simply. ‘ well ok if you say so.’ I said and started walking towards the car park.
We eventually got there and I fell into the car I was so tired. I felt my phone vibrate in my pocket and I took it out to read the message. It was a message from dad. It I t said that him and mum were going out to a restaurant and wont be back until 11.30. Joshua put on the music in the car and I was glad because it gave us a break from talking.
Soon enough we were parking outside my house and now all there was left to do was the awkward good byes but then I remembered. ‘ oh my god!’ I said as he turned of the engine and the radio turned of. ‘ what now ?’ he asked amused. ‘ you haven’t fed all day…’ I whispered. ‘ it doesn’t matter.’ matter.’ he insisted. I shook my head. ‘ yes it does. Its my job. If your dad was to find out that you haven’t fed all day then I would be dead.’ I said and I began to shuffle in my seat. ‘ no he wont. I wouldn’t let him.’ Joshua assures. ‘ that part doesn’t even matter that much anyhow, what matters is the fact that you have gone all day without
anything to drink. drink . I’m so sorry, sorry, I completely forgot. fo rgot. Come on into my house. My parents aren’t home until another hour anyway.’ anyway.’ I said and then I got out of the car quickly before he had time to protest. Seconds later he got out of the car unwillingly u nwillingly,, by the way he was walking. Slowly. Slowly. With With a unhappy unhapp y look on his face. I got the key from under the dog paw mat and opened the door. ‘ ok…so… where do you want to do it?’ I asked nervously. Like Joshua was in my house! ‘ preferably somewhere where you can fall asleep straight afterwards because you will be really tired and weak.’ he said not looking me in the eyes. I could tell he was still not happy about this but I’m going to pretend I don’t notice. ‘ right then that only makes sense then to do it in my …room.’ I indicated. He nodded once and I led him up to my messy room which to be honest I’m not embarrassed in showing him. Because right now, I couldn’t care less. ‘ I just need to get into my pyjamas and brush my teeth and stuff.’ I babbled bab bled nervously. nervously. He nodded and took a seat on my bed. I grabbed random pj’s from my closet and went went into the bathroom to get
changed. I was wearing my hello kitty pink pj’s. They were shorts as well because I always get to hot at night. I then quickly brushed my teeth and fixed my messy hair, finding a leaf in it. I laughed quietly to myself at that. I opened my door and walked back into my bedroom which felt extremely weird right now. It smelled like him also. Which I like by the way. way. Joshua smells good. He was in the same position only he was holding a picture. The picture of me and Katie when we were five. Both of us grinning wide with chocolate all over our mouths. Its one of my favourite pictures. I sat down beside him and waited. He put the picture down. He moved in closer and I didn’t move. He was leaning in now and I waited. I felt his breath at my neck, ‘ hey..’ I said remembering. Joshua kept his mouth at my neck when he spoke, ‘ yes?’ he murmurs in a whisper. ‘ we never went back to see who won in the tunnels.’ I complained in a whisper. He brought his head up so he could see me, ‘ well I honestly think you won fair and square.’ he said smiling.
I smiled then, ‘ all is fair in love and war.’ I repeated. He smiled wider , ‘exactly!’ he whispered leaning back down to my neck and kissed it lightly before biting. I didn’t yelp out in pain. It felt natural now. now. I lay back down onto my pillow and let him drink from me. I wrapped my arms around his neck to bring him closer to me. If mam and dad were to walk in right now! Oh god! That would be so embarrassing! They would completely get the wrong idea of course. I started to feel tired and hazy and I felt myself go into a peaceful sleep. I was half asleep and it felt good. I could feel Joshua lay me down lightly as he puts my head down on the pillow p illow completely taking his hands away. away. I was too tired to tell him to stay. stay. I then felt him touch my lips. Not sure with what though, it could have been his fingers for all I know. know. ‘ good night nig ht wonderful.’ he murmurs quietly and then there was silence.
When I woke up this morning I automatically knew that today was going to be a bad day. day. That’s why I stayed on in bed until my little cousin who my mom was minding for the morning, came upstairs nagging in my ear until I got up and walked downstairs to have my breakfast. ‘ good morning sweet heart.’ my mum chimed happily as she saw my oh so delighted morning expression. ‘ hi.’ I said blankly. blankly. She put down her wooden spoon and her mixing bowl and looked up at me worriedly. ‘ are you alright my dear?’ she asked concerned. ‘ yeah.. Just tired is all.’ I said waving my hand away making it look like no big deal. But you see the thing is, I’m not so sure myself what the problem is and why today is going g oing to be a bad b ad day. day. I’m just a little confused over Joshua . Well Well come to think of it Jimmy confuses me to.
The other thing is, I think I like Joshua. And I mean like like. I think that’s were I’m mostly getting confused because, 1) I don’t think he likes me back. Sure he kissed me in the tunnels but that was only to distract me. Sure he sucks my neck like a juice box but not because he just cant get enough of me because he likes me or anything.
Only because its simply business. Well that’s what I’m presuming anyway. Because honestly what would he see in a stupid human like myself in the first place? ( he said something like that the first day we met. Yeah ok, it was unofficial and all but he still meant what he said about the whole humans are useless thing. Or did he ?)
2) Jimmy. Jimmy. And. Abbie. Please tell me me you don’t hear the church bells ringing when putting their names in the same sentence together. together. The girl is PURE evil! There is something not right about her and I am going to get to the bottom of this. No matter what.
I ate my breakfast silently as my mum continued mixing what ever she had in her bowl. Smelt like pancakes. As soon as I was finished I went straight to the living room and watched some TV as I slumped on the couch. I have decided that, because I feel so accident prone today, today, I am simply going to do nothing. You You know those sort of days? Where you just have to laze around the house because your in one of those moods that will only make others suffer by just looking at you? Yeah Yeah well that’s the kind of mood I’m in today and really I’m just sparing people of a bad day. day. Only my brilliant plan only lasted one hour ho ur and twenty two minutes before I heard the phone ring. ‘ I’m not getting it.’ I shouted so my mum could hear me.
I then heard clip clopping sounds from her shoes on the kitchen tiles as she rushed to the phone. I turned down the volume of the TV so I could hear who had called. I’m bored ok! ‘ oh hi Katie dear. How are you?’ my mum said. Then I heard a few ahh’s and umm’s until she said, ‘ well, Hannah is not in the best of moods today so I think it would be best if you stay away today, today, for your sake really.’ That’s my mom! She knows what’s best for me. I didn’t hear the rest of the conversation as I decided on going up to my room. My room was still messy and when you walked in, the smell was still there. His smell. I almost forgot this morning that he was here last night, in my bedroom, in my bed. I chuckled quietly to myself at how embarrassing it was having him in here. My room really was a mess! I know last night, I wasn’t really phased by it but now, now, now I’m embarrassed.
I decided on cleaning it, you know, know, if he were ever to come here again…that’s a big if. I was just about finished tidying up my room when I heard
the bell door ring. I continued cleaning and then I heard a knock on the door. door. ‘ come in.’ I said. Katie peeked her head in and looked nervous. ‘ hey,’ hey,’ she began. I smiled. ‘ hi back. Even though I’m sure my mum told you not to come. Did she not?’ I questioned. She walked in and then sat down on my now tidy bed which was now with pink covers. Hey, Hey, I may wear a lot of o f black but I still love pink things. ‘ yes she did but then I said that I thought the best thing for you to do is hang out with me for the day, day, instead of staying at home and feeling sorry for yourself. So your mum agreed. And here I am. Tada!’ she grinned childishly. I smiled but didn’t say anything. ‘ so…what’s wrong with you?’ she asked concerned.
‘ I don’t know k now really. really. Its about Joshua.’ I said sitting down so I was facing f acing her. ‘ ahh I see. You You like him h im and you are finally admitting it to yourself.’ she presumed. Clever girl. ‘ well yeah. I guess. I’m not sure if he likes me though.’ I said sighing with frustration. ‘ you silly silly girl. Why would you think that? He’s clearly gaga about you!’ she said emphasising the gaga part. I then told her about yesterday, yesterday, only sparing her the
details that involved her brother. I don’t know why I didn’t tell her, I just couldn’t for some reason. Anyhow, Anyhow, she said that she was he liked me but she wanted me to be 100% positive so her advice was to go up to him tonight and ask him how he feels. So that’s what I’m going to do! I’m going to walk straight up to him and be like, ‘ so what’s up? Do you like me? Do ya? Do ya? Huh? Huh?’ Katie said that was good, I quote, ‘ yeah girl! I like it. Be aggressive, be, be aggressive!’ So that’s what I’m going to be. Be , be aggressive.
Ok I’m ready. ready. I’m sooo ready. ready. I have never felt so ready in my life! Well Well at least I though so until Katie spoke, ‘ ok so you ready?’
‘ ugh! No ! no! I cant do this!’ I said as she checked her make up in her review r eview mirror. mirror. When she finished fixing her mascara she turned to look at me, ‘ oh would you shut up and get out ou t of my car. We We are already late and I’m sure we are going to get into major trouble, trust you to take so long to decide on what to wear.’ wear.’ she said rolling her eyes and when she saw that I
didn’t move, literally, literally, she spoke again, ‘ GO!’ ‘ fine. Jeesh somebody’s got their knickers in a twist!’ I muttered as I opened the door of the car and got out slamming it hard behind me. So much for supporting me and having my back! I walked straight towards the club entrance that I was becoming so familiar to. The nerves in my stomach were nearly unbearable! What ever happened to be aggressive? Huh, where did all that go? Doesn’t matter, I have to do it now. I walked in, ignoring the stares and walked straight to his room. I didn’t even bang on the door once , I just walked straight on in. I closed my eyes because I would chicken out if I had to look at him. ‘ Joshua, I like you. ’ I said said childishly. childishly. I opened my eyes unwillingly and saw that it wasn’t just Joshua in the room. Tears were beginning to form and my throat felt swollen as I looked at who he was with. A girl. And he was drinking from her. her. Well not now, but he was, that much I could tell from her
neck, which was revolting as it was spilling blood. He drank from her! He got up and put his hand up in the air as if to surrender, ‘ Hannah, its not what it looks like…’ he began but I cut him of. ‘ what do you mean its not what it looks like! To To me it looks like you were feeding of from her! How could you do this to me Joshua? After what we have been through. Well Well I take it back, I take it all back do you hear me? I hope you and your tramp will be happy happ y together.’ together.’ I said and took too k a last glance at the girl who was sitting beside him. She glared at me, probably from me calling her a tramp. I gave her the last glare before turning back toward the door. ‘ go to hell Joshua! Oh wait you already are, aren’t you coz you’re a blood eating monster!’ I shrieked as I slammed the door before storming of for the door. Katie was in front of me in seconds. ‘ what happened?’ she asked scared. ‘ nothing! I have to go.’ I said, keeping my voice normal. ‘ how are you going to get home?’ she asked. ‘ I dunno. A taxi. I’ll figure it out. You You just stay here. I don’t want you getting into trouble over me.’ I said and just
then I heard h eard someone call her name urgently. urgently. ‘ go on. I’m fine.’ I lied. She looked worried and unsure but I smiled and nodded and waved her of toward Louie. She nodded then and walked over to Louie. I ran towards the escape and did what I though was the best. I phoned Jimmy. Jimmy. I mean, what else could of have done? I couldn’t call my parents because they would demand to see the place I work in and trust me, showing Black Persuasion to my parents would be a bad, bad idea. I couldn’t call a taxi because I had no money on me. I know, know, stupid of me, but I was distracted earlier on today. today. And lastly I don’t want to go back in there to ask Katie for money because she will want to stay with me and I am afraid she will get into trouble with the boss. Jimmy said he will be right over and asked if I was ok, probably from my voice vo ice being all muffled and squeaky, squeaky, from me fighting back the tears. He then said he would be here in 5 minutes. He sounded worried on the phone and I didn’t mean to worry him. I just couldn’t really hold myself together when speaking to him.
Thankfully I didn’t break into the tears until I hung up. And thankfully nobody was here to see it. I stood up against the wall so I would stay up. Not for long though because I couldn’t take it any longer as I slid down and buried my head on my knees. I was sobbing silently as I heard the engine of a car coming closer. Foggily, Foggily, I forced my head up to see who it was approaching. But the car had stopped and soon Jimmy came running out. ‘ Hannah! Oh my god Hannah!’ he said startled. I got up immediately and I quickly brushed of the tears that were sliding down my face and onto my neck. I was embarrassed, I have never n ever seen Jimmy look so frightened for me in my life! It embarrassed me, him seeing me like this. He was still looking at me in confusion, trying to figure out what happened to me, what thing possible could have me in such state. Hannah, the girl who is supposed to be strong boned, the girl who believes she can fight for herself. He now feared for her. her. I know that’s what he is thinking. I just know it.
‘ Hannah, you are seriously scaring me. What happened?’ he said panicking. I shook my head and forced a smile. He shook his head and gave me a look that said, ‘ I don’t believe it.’ I then felt cool breeze rush onto my face and it made me shiver. that’s when I noticed I was already shivering with the cold but I just hadn’t realised it until now. Jimmy noticed what I was thinking as he then shuffled out of his black leather jacket and JUST as he was putting it around my shoulders, I heard him speak from the escape door,‘ Hannah, please let me exp-’ only he didn’t finish his sentence. Jimmy was finished adjusting his jacket on my shoulders as soon as Joshua finished his sentence. ‘ ah I see…’ Joshua said, as if he had just figured out this big mystery. I didn’t even look at him. I couldn’t. I could only see him from the corner of my eye. Joshua walked forward, the door swinging closed with a loud bang that made me jump. ‘ so what ? Are you here to rescue her?’ Joshua said . I turned my head to see who he was talking to, which was Jimmy. He had his fist clenched and I could see he was angry. angry. I still
couldn’t look at him in the eyes. Jimmy looked as startled as I did but recovered quicker, ‘ hey, hey, what’s your problem man?’ Jimmy asks confused. conf used. Then he looks at me and I shake my head as if to say . ‘ don’t even go there.’ Then it hits him. His eyes widens and he stands up straight and alert. ‘ its you isn’t it.’ he says furious. I jump in then, ‘ Jimmy! Can we just go?’ I whined but he doesn’t even hear me , he’s that far gone. They are both facing each other looking each other straight in the eye threatening one another, as if a cat fight. Their gazes are locked. ‘ you’re the one who has done this to her h er aren’t you. Well Well man, that’s a big mistake.’ Jimmy shouts, anger completely roused through him. Joshua walks forward , completely un phased by the thing, reading from his expression, which looks completely bored. ‘ I don’t think thin k this is any of your business. Run along now, be her Knight and shining armour.’ armour.’ Joshua sneers. Jimmy closes his eyes for a moment as if to restrain him for jumping on Joshua.
I started to get scared. I don’t want anybody hurt! ‘ guys! Please cut it out!’ I begged but still nobody heard me. ‘ I’d watch yourself. You You hurt her h er again and I will make it the biggest mistake of your life.’ Jimmy threatens. Joshua’s laugh was harsh and a laugh I am unfamiliar with. ‘ I could snap you in half right here in two seconds.’ Joshua snickered. The two of them were closer and now it was only a matter of time of who hits who first. I went in between them to try separate them but they didn’t budge and because of me being small, they were still glaring at each other, tempting one another. I put a hand on Joshua and Jimmy’s chest trying to push them back. ‘ seriously! Stop it you two!’ I shrieked. They took their eyes of one another to look at me and I pleaded both of them to stop with my eyes. Even Joshua who I didn’t want to look at again. They both backed away then, thankfully. I sighed with relief. I walked over to Jimmy and took him by the arm as I was nearly afraid he would go back over there. ‘ come on. Please lets just go.’
He nodded and I started to walk towards his car only he wasn’t following. He was glaring at Joshua. ‘ Touch Touch her again and I will kill you.’ he said saying each word slowly. slowly. I didn’t look back at Joshua when he said this or when I walked to the car and got in but I did sneak a glance when we were driving away and it was nearly enough to make me feel sorry for him. I said nearly! He just looked kind of sad. I still hated him for what he had just done to me. Maybe I am being irrational. I just feel like he has cheated on me in some way. way. Because when you get bitten it feels like you are brought closer to him and its personal. Personal as in a way nobody else gets to explore. Only me. So when I saw him with that girl I just felt, betrayed. I know I’m getting paid and all for being bitten but that was how I saw it in the beginning . I thought it was different now. now. I thought he h e did it more because he wanted to depend on me instead of just simply depending on me because he needed my blood, if you get me?
Maybe that’s all I was to him. h im. Just like that girl was to him. A food supply. The thought of this made a few tears tickle down my
cheeks. Jimmy looked at me for like the millionth time , checking if I was alright. He got his hand and brushed my cheek. ‘ I know this is a stupid question to ask but I don’t know what else to say. say. Are you alright?’ he asked sweetly. sweetly. ‘ yeah. I just feel so humiliated.’ I confessed. ‘ why? What did he do?’ he questioned. I couldn’t answer that. What do I say, say, oh he was drinking d rinking blood of another girl and I was jealous? Ha I certainly don’t think so. So I just said, ‘ I saw him kissing another girl and I thought he liked me.’ I said which was nearly the truth. ‘ well he’s the one loosing out.’ he said shaking his head. ‘ how?’ I said not understanding. Jimmy looked at me from the starring wheel with his eyebrow raised in confusion, ‘ Hannah, you really don’t get it do you? You You can do so much better then him.’ he shook his head in agitation. I didn’t say anything back because I didn’t really want to talk anymore. I just wanted to crawl into bed with a class of milk and cookies.
I rested my head against the head rest of his car. I closed my eyes and pretended to be asleep for the rest of the journey home. As soon as the car jolted to a stop I fluttered flu ttered my eyes open and immediately took of my seat belt.
Jimmy still looked worried. ‘ I’m ok o k now. now. Thanks.’ I said trying to convince him I’m not going to have another melt down. He nodded and just as I was about to step outside he caught my hand. I turned round and ducked my head back in the car. ‘ you really deserve someone better Hannah. Trust me when I say that.’ he said sweetly and genuinely concerned. I nodded and painted on a smile as best I could. If only I could believe him.
- The Next Day -
My photography class was in 4 hours and I still didn’t have a clue what I was going to use for my project Lazily, Lazily, I reached out and got my camera from my table and
started looking through all the pictures I had taken. There were many, many, many photos and mostly of him. I had almost forgotten how many pictures I took of him that day. day. Hah, that day. day. Well Well that day means nothing no thing to me anymore, I pretended mentally. mentally. Knowing that I was just lien to myself, I felt like throwing the camera against the wall with all my almighty strength but decided against it because the camera really was expensive and I wasn’t going to brake it over a stupid boy, nevertheless a stupid vampire! Oh and also I still felt numb from last night so that almighty strength probably wouldn’t shine so good right now. I got my laptop from the kitchen and before I had the chance to change my mind, I got out the wires too.
And then Walla, Walla, the he was starring at me through a bigger screen. The pictures were exquisite! Well, no, he was. As painful as it was to admit , I knew I couldn’t pretend otherwise as it was so clearly true.
Every single flippen picture he looked absolutely stunning and completely abnormal. Out of this world abnormal. I then came across a few of the last pictures that were taken. It was the one with me, standing there completely gob smacked and in a daze. It was the time when he leant in and kissed me quickly before shooting of into the tunnel, snapping the picture of me as I stood confused and surprised. I examined myself more closely, closely, unfortunately my face f ace expression only proved how much he had me under his spell. I almost deleted the picture but in the end I couldn’t bring myself to do it. I don’t know why. why. Maybe because I’m going crazy . Next I will be talking to myself or something. But, I guess I am quite proud of myself, because I didn’t throw the laptop out the kitchen window, window, which was open by the way, way, and just looked so inviting. Nope. Instead I printed them of. I knew what I was using as my project.

‘ Hannah, you’re up next pet.’ Vivian Vivian calls out. Ignoring the ‘ pet ’ comment, I got up, CD in hand and walked over to Vivian, who was sitting by the computer. computer. She took the CD from fro m my now sweaty hands and my stomach felt it was about to explode exp lode with the anxiety. anxiety. Vivian, probably noticing my unsteadiness and struggle to stand properly said, ‘ OK Hannah, you can sit down now.’ now.’ I took my seat beside Jimmy who had his eye brow raised in question. Instead of answering him, I faced straight ahead, waiting for what was to come on screen. Panic washed over me as I realised what a mistake I had just made. I brought my feet up on the chair so I could rest my head on my knees so that I didn’t have to watch the over sized Joshua come on screen. I counted the seconds that ticked by in awkward silence. When I got to 43 seconds, I heard the room fill with whispers and opinions. Then Vivian spoke. It wasn’t hard eliminating her voice out from the rest because of it being so squeaky. ‘ Oh Wow, this one is fantastic! So vivid!’ she says in awe. Jimmy nudges me and I shake my head immaturely, immaturely,
refusing to look at him. He shakes me again, this time with more force causing me to fall of the chair, landing on my ass with a loud thump. Instead of getting back and killing Jimmy, Jimmy, I sit there hypnotised by the screen. The picture that was up was one of the ones that I didn’t pay much attention to when I was printing them. Really I just went, eanie, meanie, miney, miney, moe when it came down to choosing them. ‘This one..’ Vivian Vivian started, ‘ this one is spectacular! Truly beautiful and you captured it in perfect timing. His emotions says a lot. Can you see that class?’ she asked everyone, including Abbie, by the way, who was sitting all snug on the other side of Jimmy. Jimmy. The class nodded in response and Vivian automatically spoke again. ‘ It shows two sides of this young man. The innocent and the dangerous side.’ Well may I be darned coz co z I honestly wouldn’t of been able to notice those sort of things from a picture! And not just things, but correct things because what Vivian said made complete sense. And And here I was calling her crazy? Joshua does have two sides to him.
There’s that mean, cruel, dangerous, secretive, jealous type of Joshua. Then in a blink of a eye he is a different person. That being the, cool, funny, bubbly, bubbly, sweet, caring, loveable, innocent and not to forget, sad, Joshua. I remember the sad Joshua. He shows it so easily. easily. His face just drops and you cant help it but feel sad too or at least sympathise for him.
This just proved to me that I never got to know the real Joshua. He cant be two people. I wasn’t sure to be sad about this or glad… I decided on being glad. For now on, when it comes to me and Joshua, its strictly business. ‘ Hannah, hello are you in there?’ Jimmy calls waving a hand in front of my face, interrupting my mind babble. I looked at him and smiled apologetically. apologetically. ‘ isn’t that the jerk who made you cry?’ he asked looking at me like I have completely lost it.
‘ that doesn’t matter anymore, I’m over it.’ I said simply. simply. ‘ uhh obviously o bviously it does matter Hannah. He. Made. You. You. Cry!’ he said as if I didn’t know and I wasn’t there when I was crying ! Ha makes no sense, I know. know.
I felt myself starting to loose it and knew I couldn’t help myself but start screaming when Abbie came in and tried to join in on our private conversation, that looks, obviously private! ‘ Oh. My. My. God! I know ok, I was there!’ I screeched. This accidentally brought the attention of Vivian Vivian and the rest of the class as they turned round and stared at us. ‘ sit down, would ya so we can talk about this…’ Jimmy started but I wasn’t having any of it. ‘ I don’t wanna talk about it. Why do I even have to explain myself to you Jimmy? Jeesh, now you’re the one o ne who’s acting like the jealous boy friend!’ I said shaking my head in disbelief. Jimmy suddenly went red and wouldn’t look at me anymore. I looked over at Abbie who was looking at him with a smirk on her face, seeing now as her golden opportunity to comfort him.
I acted immediately, immediately, ‘ I’m sorry Jimmy, Jimmy, I didn’t mean that. I only used the pictures of him because I had nothing else, ok?’ I said, hoping he wasn’t pissed with me. He turned to face me and gave me a understanding smile and I relaxed and sat back down. ************************ When the class ended, ended , Vivian Vivian rushed over to me saying stuff like, she thought mine showed the most potential and that I should enter this competition gala thing that was coming up soon. I took the entry form because I knew if I didn’t she wouldn’t let me go unless I took it and told her I will think about it.
When I went home I dumped the entry form on my bed without a second glance.
*********************** I was getting ready for work tonight ( yes I was going to go because I couldn’t exactly quit now could I ? ) when I felt my phone vibrate in my pocket. I took it out and saw that the caller was on private.
‘ hello?’ I said unenthusiastically. unenthusiastically. ‘ Is that Hannah?’ the person asked. I didn’t recognise the persons voice. ‘yes this is she.’ I said politely, politely, just in case it was someone important. ‘ This is Michelle, from Black Persuasion.’ I never knew there was Michelle! ‘ oh hi! Erm, I’m sorry, am I late?’ I asked nervously and automatically brought my wrist up to check my watch. ‘ oh no , no Hannah, I’m just calling on behalf of Mr. Stewart. He said that he is in no longer need of you’re services and thank you very much for you’re time spent in Black Persuasion.’ ‘ erm, ok thanks I guess.’ I said not knowing how to react to this. ‘ oh and one more thing, we will give Katie your last wages.’ ‘ so Katie isn’t fired ..?’ I gasped. ‘ no, actually she should be here soon.’ ‘ but- but- how- why am I fired then?’ I stammered.
‘ I do not know the details Ms. Hannah. All I was told is what I have already said to you.’ ‘ oh umm ok. Bye I guess.’ The phone went dead but I still held it against my ear in disbelief. I was free, I thought absently to myself. So why aren’t I as happy as I should be? I dialled Katie’s number on my phone but had to re dial because I accidentally punched the wrong numbers because of my hand shaking. ‘ Hellooo..’ Katie chirped happily. ‘ Katie, you will never guessed what just happened!’ I exclaimed. ‘ oh Hannah its you. I heard about what happened today in class..’ she started but I interrupted in terrupted her. ‘ Katie! Focus, this is way more important than what happened in class today!’ I said quickly, not caring that I’m not being polite. ‘ oh ok. What ?’ she asked, sounding a lil pissed that I interrupted her. her.
‘ I. Got. Fired.’ I said each word so clearly. clearly. ‘ you WHAT!’ she shrieked. ‘ yep, I am currently jobless. Unemployed or whatever.’ whatever.’ I said sighing. ‘ do you know why?’ she asked, still in shock. ‘ nope. I’d say it has something got to do with Joshua. He seemed pretty pissed when I went away with Jimmy last night.’ I said replaying the oh so joys of last night. ‘ WHAT? You got my brother to pick you up?’ she shrieked again. ‘ oh yah, forgot to mention that.’ I lied. ‘ you FORGOT to mention that?’ she said, clearly not accepting it. ‘ oh jeesh sorryyy Katie but I don’t think that is such a big deal right now, now, considering I have literally just been fired!’ I shrieked this time. ‘ oh yeah, you’re right. Sorry never mind me. Well Well I’m obviously not fired so I’ll just go down there and see what the dealio is.’ she said, making it sound so easy. easy. ‘ so… you’re not upset that you’re not fired?’ I said, confused.
‘ oh no, no, n o, no. Without Without this job means no Louie.’ she said simply. ‘ well I’m glad you’re being so optimistic.’ I lied. I was actually counting on Katie to be all like ‘ dayum, no fair! I wanna get fired too!!’ etc . etc. because then I would know for sure that, being fired is a good thing. But now that she seems happy she’s not fired, I just don’t know how to look at it. Happy? Sad? I don’t know. ‘ Ha well you know me. Ok talk to you later.’ she said. ‘ bye..’ I said and then there was silence. I decided that I needed to try figure this out because the suspense was killing me! So I made a list: Reasons to be fired : 1. Maybe because I didn’t help at the bar enough? 2. I dress funny?
3. I don’t look goth enough? Coz I don’t wear that heavy black make up. 4. Maybe my blood is no longer feisty? Is that even possible? 5. Maybe the iron tablets made my blood go all funny and icky? 6. Joshua got bored with me and wanted to try a different menu.
I decided to go with the last one as it was the one to make most sense. Like come on, obviously I don’t dress funny!

Mam and dad managed to get around me to enter this stupid competition. They really wouldn’t shut up about it. All I heard was talent, talent, waste, talent and something else as well but I tuned out after I heard the word talent be repeated a few times. So I said yes, to shut them up. I will know tomorrow if I have won a spot.
Yippee, not! I don’t know why I’m not excited, I’m just not. Simple as. ************************* Katie didn’t find out why I was fired. I quote, ‘ Nope, they wouldn’t tell me anything! And I tried and tried to find info but they wouldn’t budge. I don’t think they know why, Hannah. Louie honestly ho nestly didn’t know.’ I said thanks and that I guess it didn’t matter anyway. anyway. My phone ring tone went of with ‘ Watcha Watcha say.’ say.’ playing and I grabbed it and answered it quickly. quickly. ‘ hello?’ I said, this time polite. ‘hi, may I speak to Hannah please?’ the mysterious man asked. Well Well I know for sure its not Michelle. ‘ yes, speaking.’ I said, again politely. politely. ‘ oh great. Just ringing to let you know that your picture has been nominated for ‘young minds today’ competition at the under 21’s gala. Do you accept?’ the man sounded all formal and posh . ‘ err yup , I accept.’ I said hesitantly. hesitantly. ‘ wonderful!’ he chirped.
The word wonderful, made me think of Joshua. I now hated the word. ‘ that’s great! So you know its in two days right? rig ht? And this is a formal thing so escorts are to wear shirt and tie and you a dress.’ he said. ‘ I don’t have hav e a escort.’ I said a little too quickly. quickly. ‘ oh well that’s fine. You You are allowed to take 3 people with you so it is whom ever you choose.’ he said sounding distracted. ‘ ok..’ I said thinking. ‘ I have to go. I’ll see you there Hannah. Chow for now darling.’ he said bubbly. bubbly. Then the phone went dead. I rang Katie and invited her along with Louie. I was glad because she sounded really excited. She said that I could stay in her house the night before and borrow a dress, so its all good! J Everything in my life is going to complication-free. Now that Joshua is out of my life, I can finally continue and live like a normal teenager and hopefully forget later on that vampires etc do exist.
I opened the doors of my wardrobe to ensure myself of not having anything fancy fan cy to wear for tomorrow night. Yep, Yep, zilch. Nothing remotely fancy. fancy. I’ll just have to take Katie up on that offer of hers. I grabbed my packed bag for the night and flung it over my shoulder. ‘ bye mam, dad, I will be here tomorrow before I head for the gala because I want to get ready here.’ I said before I opened the door. door. ‘ then why are you staying at Katie’s , if you’re not even getting ready at her house? I thought that was the whole point…’ my mam shouted from the kitchen. ‘ yeah I know. know. I wanted a girls night. I gotta go because Katie expected me over there a hour ago.’ I said quickly stepping out and closing the door behind me. ****************** ‘ Hiya.’ I said to Katie who was in the kitchen making her self a sandwich. ‘ Hi darling. How are ya?’ she said smiling. I noticed that she was already in her pyjamas.
‘ oh shiz! You You got work tonight don’t ya?’ I rolled my eyes at my stupidity. ‘ Nope. Day off. Oh yah and tomorrow too!’ she chirped excitingly. ‘ how did you manage that ? I thought they were short of workers?’ I said generally curious. ‘ not anymore. They got this new girl named Michelle. She’s super nice.’ she said sitting down to the kitchen table. I joined her. ‘ that’s the girl who fired me too. You You don’t think she’s Joshua’s new donor, do you?’ I sputtered. ‘ Erm, I honestly don’t know kn ow.. By the way, way, how are you doing with that whole situation?’ she asked concerned. ‘ the Joshua situation?’ I assumed. She nodded. ‘ I hate him.’ I said simply. simply. ‘ no you don’t.’ she whispered. ‘ ugh, I know.’ know.’ I wailed. ‘ I know you to well. Please just trust me, ok?’ she insisted I nodded weakly and decided to change the subject. ‘ so… what are we going to do for the night? Are we watching a movie in the living room?’ I predicted. ‘ no we cant use the living room because Jimmy is in there with Abbie. We We will have to take it upstairs, I guess.’ she shrugged. ‘ ABBIE!?’ ABBIE!?’ I cried. Katie didn’t look taken back like I half expected her to. ‘ yeah , I know, know, that’s how I reacted too when I heard Jimmy has gotten himself a girlfriend.’ she laughed. ‘ GIRLFRIEND!’ I spat. Katie nodded and squinted her eyes at me. ‘ well, I wasn’t as surprised as you are.’ she notified. ‘ I cant believe she is his girlfriend! What the hell! She is a total bitch! He can do way better then her!’ I said breathing hard. ‘ wow slow down there. What are you talking about ?
Abbie is a darling, ok yeah sure, she doesn’t have the best style but she’s a nice person. I nodded once and followed her to the living room. There was no point in trying to convince Katie about Abbie. She wouldn’t believe me because she doesn’t believe that some people are just plain evil. She believes everybody has good. Which I guess, in most cases is true but no, not in this particular one. I know Abbie is evil. And no, its not just because I’m stubborn, I can just feel it. When we entered the living room I was actually shocked to see them snuggled on the couch together looking all lovey dovey.
I felt like barfing right there! Jimmy noticing me begins to straighten himself up, looking a little embarrassed. Dam right he should be, why would he want to snuggle up to a physco? Speaking of physco, she herself looked just like I thought she would, creepy clothes, jewellery and generally gen erally creepy self. ‘Hi Hannah.’ she greets cheerfully. cheerfully. Instead of letting him answer I spoke again. ‘ I’m sleeping over tonight.’ I turned my attention from Jimmy to Abbie. She was looking at me. Well Well glaring at me, to be exact. Abbie and she turned to look at her. I did to and I noticed that this time Abbie was smiling! I couldn’t take this anymore. There was clearly something up with this girl and she only showed her true side with me. What the hell is up with that ? I stormed out of the room and slammed the door behind me before running upstairs into Katie’s room. ‘ what’s up with you?’ Katie said when she closed her door behind her. She looked annoyed. I don’t see why she’s getting pissed of about. Abbie isn’t glaring at her! ‘ Abbie, I am one hundred h undred per cent right about her. There is something wrong with her.’ I said determined. Katie didn’t say anything for a while. She just stood there, not taking her eyes of me. ‘ jeepers, somebody help me. Hannah I think you have lost it.’ she said chuckling, finding this funny! ‘ I have not lost it! I know I’m right. Just wait and see and I will laugh in your face when I say ‘ told ya ya so’ .’ I said not backing down. ‘ ha okie doke then.’ she said still laughing. I rolled my eyes at her and gave her the what ever look.
‘ so are we watching a movie here?’ I said again changing the subject. ‘ we don’t have to anymore. Abbie and Jimmy are going out to a night club tonight. So we can have the living room all to our selves when they leave.’ I nodded simply. ‘ come on, lets get the snacks shall we?’ she said backing toward the door. I followed her unhappily. unhappily.
************************* We were watching ‘ John Tucker Must Die.’ And I automatically thought of Joshua, funny isn’t it. Instead I’m not too sure if Joshua could die even if I did have some sort of plan like that. Which I don’t, by the way. way. It was 11 at night and Katie was yawning non stop. I couldn’t help noticing this because she’s such a loud yawner. I looked over at Katie when she yawned for like the gazillionth time. She looked so tired. She put her hand to her mouth and started coughing like roughly.
‘ are you ok?’ I asked concerned. ‘ I’m not feeling to great.’ she said in a daze. ‘ how about we got to bed then, so you can sleep it of.’ I suggested. ‘ yeah ok. But I don’t want you getting this. So do you mind sleeping in the guest room?’ she said coughing again. Before I answered her I looked at her again closely. She really didn’t look good. She was extremely pale and I think she was shaking ? ‘ do you want to go to the hospital? Because no offence but you like hell.’ I said. ‘ no I’m fine. Just need to sleep it of like you said.’ she said holding back a cough. I could tell because she had her hands clenched in her fists really tightly. ‘ alrighty then…’ I said not sure what to do. ‘ stop looking at me like that. I’m fine.’ she said nodding trying to convince me. I nodded once and followed her out the door. She tripped a bit going up the stairs and this started to scare me again. ‘ are you sure you don’t want to go to the hospital ?’ I
tempted. She turned around to give me a death glare. Jeesh! ‘ no Hannah, would you stop already please!’ she snapped. ‘ fine!’ I snapped back before slamming the guestroom door behind me. I lay in bed thinking how weird it felt sleeping in this room instead of the spare bunk bed in Katie’s room. The last time I was in here h ere was when it was my first time sleeping over. I drifted of slowly , dreaming about Katie and I when we were younger. ********************** I knew I was dreaming because the 6 year old Katie was grinning down at me with missing tooth on the front of her mouth. We were in a park and we were playing hind and go seek. I started running as fast as my little legs could take as it was my turn to hide. I had the perfect place to hide. A place were no one, not n ot even Katie would think of.
The sand pit. I sprinted around the corner and when I saw the pit in sight, it somehow made me run even faster. There were no kids playing in it so that made it easier for me, just in case Katie asked anyone if they saw me. I knew she did that, and I told her that it was cheating but she still did it anyway. I went to were there was a big hole dug out and quickly lay in it and started to cover myself up with the sand. My hands were working super fast and soon my body was covered in sand. Except my face. I heard running footsteps come and I tried to somehow push myself deeper into the sand. ‘ Hannah…’ her squeaky voice started. But then somehow my dream started to fade and her voice became different, huskier. huskier. ‘ Hannah…’ she said but this time in that husky voice. She was looking down at me now and she had a scary smirk on her face. She leant down and grabbed my shoulders and started shaking me, hard. Then she disappeared and everything went black.
I still felt the shaking. I snapped my eyes open and saw somebody leaning over me but couldn’t see who because it was pitch black in the room. I sucked in a deep breath and opened my mouth to start to scream. Only the person but their hand in front of my mouth stopping me. ‘ shhh… it’s me Hannah.’ the person chuckled. I got a good smell of his breath and knew automatically that this person was drunk, very drunk. ‘ Joshua?’ I said without thinking. The person grunted in annoyance. ‘ of course you would think it was him, wouldn’t yaaa.’ he said and I listened to his voice, this time more carefully. carefully. ‘Jim- Jimmy?!’ I spluttered. ‘ hmm mmm.’ he giggled. ‘ Jimmy get offa me or I swear I will scream and kick you’re ass tomorrow and you will regret reg ret it because you will be dying with a hang over.’ I threatened.
He put his finger over my lips and said, ‘ oh Hannah, you’re so funny do yaaa know that? All All I want is a kiss goodnight.’ he said and I could see a smile outlined around his mouth in the darkness. ‘ Jimmy NO!’ I whispered loud. ‘ nah nah nah now Hannah, I know that’s what you want because why else would you hate my so called girlfriend , huh?’ he chuckled. ‘ you mean she’s not you’re girlfriend?’ I couldn’t help but ask. He didn’t answer me. Instead he leant down and before I could protest, planted sloppy kisses on me. I tried to push him of me but couldn’t as he had his whole body now pressed against me and he was to heavy. heavy. ‘ Jimmy..’ Jimmy..’ I said as he started kissing my neck. ‘ hmm?’ he asked and I felt his cold hand creep up my top and soon clutched my breasts. I moaned from his freezing cold hand touched my hot skin. ‘ that’s is you like that…’ he murmured. I wasn’t moaning in pleasure though! His hand was fucking freezing for crying out loud!
‘ no Jimmy,’ Jimmy,’ I said but he interrupted me by kissing me again. In between kisses I spoke, ‘ please Jimmy, Jimmy, this isn’t right.’ ‘ you know it is. Awh Awh I want you sooo badly!’ b adly!’ he cried before pressing himself harder into me. ‘ you are just drunk.’ drunk .’ I said quickly. quickly. That sent him into a hysteria h ysteria of laughter. laughter. ‘ yes I am really really drunk!’ he laughed aloud. ‘ what is going on here?’ Katie snapped. ‘ he wont get of me!’ I whimpered. She came over and got him by the ear and dragged him of me. ‘ owwww!’ he cried. ‘ go into you’re room now!’ she ordered. Jimmy wobbled as she let go of him. He started wobbling of into the direction of his room, ‘ yes sir!’ he said sending him h im again into another fit of laughter. laughter.
Katie rushed over to me as soon as she saw him collapse into his bead, ‘ oh my god, are you ok?’ she asked worried. ‘ yeah I’m fine.’ I said. ‘ Don’t worry, worry, I’m gonna kill him.’ she assured. ‘ No, no, its fine. He’s extremely drunk, he doesn’t know what he’s doing.’ I said calmly. calmly. ‘ I’m still gonna kill him.’ she said stubbornly. stubbornly. ‘ I’m gonna wake him up really early tomorrow morning with a glass of water thrown over his face and…’ she started. I laughed. I couldn’t help myself. She turned and looked at me like I was crazy. ‘ I’m honestly fine. No biggie.’ I insured her. ‘ what did he try on you?’ she asked ignoring me. ‘ he just kissed me a bit. Its alright, ha it could have been anyone who was sleeping here tonight so just thank you’re lucky stars that it was me.’ I said being optimistic about the whole thing. ‘ nothing about this has anything got to do with being lucky Hannah…’ she grunted.
‘ ok if it makes you feel better, ill help killing him tomorrow.’ tomorrow.’ I chuckled, trying to lighten the whole thing. She forced a smile. ‘ how?’ she challenged. ‘ I’ll soak him with a jug of water.’ I said waggling my eyebrows, deviously. deviously. She laughed . ‘ ok pinky swear?’ she asked holding out her pinky finger. ‘ pinky swear.’ I say before I entwine mine with hers. Both of us laughed. ‘ come on. You You are sleeping with me tonight. I’m never leaving you out of my sight again.’ she said grabbing my arm and pulling me out of bed. ‘ does this mean you’re feeling better?’ I hoped. ‘ yep. Much better.’ better.’ she said. I thought about what she said. Is much better, better completely ?

I turned on the tap and filled the jug to the brim with water. Yup that’s right, I am not backing down on my pinky promise. Well I have to admit, I wasn’t so sure when we made the promise but the more and more I thought about soaking him the more I wanted to do it. So yeah I’m doing it because really I cant let a chance like this down, you know? Katie and I looked at each other with out jug and glass in hand and grinned maliciously at each other. other. ‘ show time.’ Katie said leading the way to his room. He was sprawled out on the one side of his bed, half hanging out. Perfect. Katie went first without hesitating one bit and poured the class down his neck. He jumped up quick, making us jump a little. His eyes opened automatically and he looked at Katie like he was going to kill her! ‘ what the fuck was that for!’ he roared. ‘ That’s for trying to rape my best friend!’ she screamed back. He looked at me in confusion. That’s when I walked over and got my very full jug and poured it straight over his head. He was then saturated. His hair and his eyelashes were dripping wet!
I laughed and said, ‘ that’s for having extremely bad taste in girls!’ ‘ you guys are gonna gon na pay. pay. I’m dieing from this bloody hangover and you two decide to play you’re stupid, idiotic games!’ he snapped. Katie slapped him hard across the face. ‘ you idiot! Say sorry to her now!’ she demanded. Jimmy looked at her again in confusion. ‘ why should I say sorry! I didn’t do nothing!’ he shrieked back. He turned to look at me in confusion. I decided to speak then because at least I could keep them from further hitting each other. ‘ look its true Jimmy, Jimmy, last night you were extremely drunk and you came into me and uhh … tried some things..’ I said unsure how to say this. ‘ what? What do you mean I tried stuff? Were Were was I last night…?’ he said getting confused. We didn’t say anything. We watched as he sat there in a daze, probably trying to remember what happened last night. He looked up at us after a while.
‘ I don’t remember coming home …’ he said putting his finger to his temple as if its somehow going to make him remember. ‘ all I remember is leaving and dancing to the first song with Abbie and then I think we got something to drink and the Bam , everything else is blank… what the fuck is up with that?’ he said angrily. angrily. ‘ sounds like you’re drink got spiked.’ Katie said, now calm. ‘ still it doesn’t err excuse whatever it was I did to Hannah last night…’ he said looking embarrassed, not able to look at me. ‘ its ok. No biggie. I knew there was something up with you.’ I said smiling. ‘ I’m so so so sorry..’ sorry..’ he whispered. ‘ its fine, honestly, no need to beat yourself up about it. I just wanted to throw this water over you’re face!’ I giggled. He smiled and I sighed with relief. ‘ anyways I gotta get going because I need to get ready for tonight. I walked down the stairs and took my bag that had Katie’s dress in it and opened op ened the door. I jumped back, startled as I saw Abbie standing there, with her finger motioned toward the doorbell as if she was just about to press it. When she saw me, she glared at me. ‘ move bitch!’ she snapped, pushing me aside and stepping in. ‘ what the fuck is you’re problem!?’ I spat. ‘ you are!’ she scolded. ‘ what the hell did I ever do to you!’ I snapped. ‘ you know exactly what you did.’ she stated. I stared at her like she had three heads. ‘ what the hell! I don’t even know you so how the frickin hell could I do something to ya?’ I said clenching my fists. ‘ you stole Joshua on me!’ she shrieked. I could see that she was shaking shakin g with anger. It took me a while to understand that she was actually talking about Joshua from Black Persuasion and not a different Joshua that I could possibly know. know.

I gasped at the nick name she used. My nick name that I use for Jimmy. ‘ where did you come up with that name?’ he asked, suspicious to how she knew it. Because it is our thing. ‘ oh you know, I thought I heard people peop le call you it.’ she laughed nervously. nervously. ‘ no! coz she’s stalking me!’ I snapped. Katie and Jimmy looked at me. ‘ why would she stalk you?’ Jimmy asked, trying to make sense of it. ‘ because she thinks I stole Joshua and she went out with you so she could threaten me.’ I said folding my arms.
He looked at me closely and I pleaded with my eyes for him to believe me. ‘ I want you to leave Hannah.’ Jimmy ordered. ‘ you WHAT! WHAT! But I’m telling the truth!’ I yelled. ‘ just LEAVE!’ LEAVE!’ he ordered, this time louder. I looked at Katie desperately and she gave me the ‘ you better go..’ look. I turned and opened the door but with a last glance at Jimmy before I stepped out. I’m not to sure but I could almost swear I saw him wink? Wtf? Now I’m seeing things!
Stupid, stupid Jimmy. Jimmy. How dare he kick me out of his house when I am so clearly the sane one! I cant believe he believed her over me. I’ve known him practically since forever and this is how ho w he repays me? Well that’s just great. And Joshua. I have completely sussed him out and I understand everything so clearly now. now.

I trudge up the stairs and storm to my bedroom and dumping my bags hard on the bed releasing some of my anger out. Then I notice something. A white box sealed with a shiny red ribbon and a bow at the top. I reach out for it and then freeze. What if Abbie has a bomb in it or something? Then I realised I am being overdramatic. So I held it lightly before slowly pulling the soft ribbon open. I dropped the box on floor like it had stung. I backed away from it a few steps, because it wasn’t making sense.
Why- how? The purple dress that Joshua made me try on. It was in the box. As a present. For me? This all didn’t make sense to me and I didn’t know what to do nevertheless think! I shook my head, ‘ don’t be so stupid Hannah, he’s obviously just trying to mess with you.’ I whispered absently to myself. ‘ who’s trying to mess with you?’ my mam said standing by my door. ‘ uhh nothing mum.’ I lied. She looked at me suspiciously and came in. ‘ well what is it then?’ she asked, nodding to the box. ‘ a dress.’ I stated the obvious. ‘ aren’t you going to try it on then?’ she urged. Before I could answer her she bent down and took out the
dress and gasped as she held it out in front of her. ‘ you have got to wear this tonight.’ ‘ nope.’ I said stubbornly stubborn ly.. ‘ you most certainly have to!’ ‘ erm, no I don’t.’ I whined childishly. ‘ don’t you think that will hurt Joshua’s feelings?’ she said and I jumped at the sound of his name. Especially coming from my mothers mouth! I was about to demand answers, when she spoke. ‘ ahh yes I met Joshua today. today. Charming young man I must say and so polite. You You know, my friend with the ten guest rooms?’ ‘ yeah, I remember you telling me before, befo re, its just unfortunate that you wont be here when I get back from the gala.’ I said. ‘ I know sweetie and I’m so sorry, sorry, look I wont won t go if it means that much to you..’ she started but I cut her of, ‘ no its fine. Go, have fun.’ I said leading her h er to the door. ‘alright but I’ll phone you as soon as I can.’ she said and then she was gone. And I had a chance to think things through. There had to be some logic explanation to all of this. I stood thinking for a moment. Nope, its all very confusing. Why would he tell my mum that he was my boyfriend when he so obviously wasn’t. Or is this part of that sick game of his that he is playing? I picked up the empty box bo x that lay on the floor, in disgust and just when I was about to crush it so I could fit it in my small bin, a piece of paper came flying out. I grabbed it quickly before it reached the floor. I unscrambled it so I could read it. On it, it read three simple
words, ‘ I can explain.’ ‘ explain what exactly? The way you broke my heart, hmm boy I cant wait to hear that…’ I whispered to myself. ‘ Bye Hannah, best of look tonight!’ my parents said in unison before walking outside. *********************************** I placed both dresses on my bed and studied them intensely like it was a life or death decision. Well Well to me it kinda was because that’s all I was allowing myself to think about. No silly, blind Jimmy. No crazy Abbie. And certainly not Joshua. I was running late, I knew that. But it wasn’t my fault my stupid hair took so long to curl! The stupid hair curler is so..stupid. Ok gotta stop saying the word stupid. Anyhow my hair and makeup was done, all I had to do is choose a dress. But it was a tough decision. The door bell and it took me a while to snap out of that daze I was caught in. It had to be Katie. She’s going to be so mad when she sees I’m not no t dressed! Katie has like a phobia of being late.
I walked down the stairs, not no t caring that I was in my Tom Tom and Jerry P.J’s. I went quickly to the door half expecting Jimmy to stand by her side, apology ready. ready. Boy was I wrong! Standing at the door with a smashing tux eddo, making James Bond look like a complete geek in comparison. I looked down as something caught my eye. It was a purple Iris, one of my favourite types of flowers. Holding it stood a grinning Joshua. He didn’t say anything and this gave me time to just look at him. Over his shoulder I saw that there th ere was a limo! A shining long black limo. What was he doing? As soon as I thought this through I decided what ever he had planned to do didn’t matter. matter. It was most likely all part of his games. And nothing could make me change my mind. Not a stupid limo, beautiful flower, stunning dress and not even looking all irresistibly hot in his tux, was going to change that. Ok,
I have to admit I’m especially lying about abo ut the last part. I changed my shocked expression to looking bored before I slammed the door in his face, but it didn’t close because he stuck his foot in stopping it. Well I hope I hurt his foot! ‘ I wouldn’t be surprised if it was to swell up like a balloon this time!’ he joked. I rolled my eyes and stood waiting. ‘please Hannah, let me explain. Please just give me five minutes . ’ he begged. I thought about this for a moment and gave in and opened the door fully and stepped aside so he could come in. I’ll give him his five minutes and then he’s out. Just five minutes , its not gonna kill me. Physically anyway ... ‘ok’ I said as he stepped in , ‘five minutes starting now.’ I said sighing tiredly and looking at my watch. He looked scared scared and eager at the same time. ‘look, that night when you saw me with that girl , its not what you think ok? ’ he started and I through my head back in fake silent laughter. laughter. ‘ its not, hear me out ou t ok? anyway, anyway, that day that we had h ad together was one of the best days of my life, and no not because I don’t get out much, because of you, Hannah.’ he
stopped briefly to take a breath and I put my hand on my hip, waiting. ‘So when I went home that night, after I drank from you in your own bedroom I felt so… disgusted d isgusted in myself ! That’s when I realised that I couldn’t do it anymore, or wouldn’t I suppose.’ I looked at him closely to see if there were any sign of him joking. And And there wasn’t, he looked completely serious. I reached out from behind me without thinking, trying to grab onto anything to hold me up. This was all just so unexpected. Only I grabbed free air instead. I backed away a few steps so that I had the wall supporting my back. He followed me, so that there were only a few inches between us. ‘ I told my dad to fire you or else I wouldn’t take on the family business. I was going to tell you, later on I was going to come by your house and tell you. I thought you would be delighted about this. I didn’t think you would feel, well betrayed as Katie put it.. ’ That’s why Katie was so sure everything was going to be alright, she spoke to him. But Katie doesn’t know everything. There was still more to this. I stool expressionless, trying to think. I could feel him breathing on my neck. I knew I surprised him. He stood frozen, unable to think. So that means he could only see the outline of me too right ? And anyway the way he was at the stairs, a little too understanding, if you get my gist? Well I didn't want that! No way, way, not when I just got him But I know he is to much of a gentleman so blowing my bones wouldn't be on his mind right now. Not that it was on my mind! Jeez, I'm only with him a couple of hours! Anyway so I began to strip. I think I heard him gasp, but I'm not to certain. Firstly I took of my beautiful dress of carefully as it was so fragile. When I placed that on my study chair ch air I started to fumble with my bra strap. Then stopped again, having a better idea in mind. ' oh shoot! I cant get this silly bra open, Josh hun do you mind?' I laugh. I hear him shift in the bed. But I cant see his face to tell
what he is thinking. ' huh ..ohh...I..don't... ok sure.' he spluttered. I walk over, in panties and bra only and an d plonked myself right on his h is lap deliberately. deliberately. Tee hee, I'm so bad! ' oopsies, sorry my bad.' I giggle. I twist my body so I am sitting in his lap comfortably now and so I am facing him. I felt his warm hand hold me against my thigh and I accidentally look down at it. Then seeing me look at it, he realises and takes his hands of my thighs and holds them up in the air as if surrendering, ' I'm sorry, sorry, I didn't didn 't mean to..' he apologised. I lean in close to his face and brush my lips against his, ' don't be sorry..' I murmured before kissing him full on the lips. I hear him groan quietly and I smile mentally to myself.
Then he mutters things every time my lips leave his but I shut him up each time by kissing k issing him again. ' I shouldn't...' he whispers quickly as I push him back with force so he was lying on the bed on his back.
' really I thi-' he starts but I laugh and interrupt him again by kissing him harder with more force. Then he gives in and kisses me back with just about as much force as I was. I slide my hand down his shirt until it reaches the end. I start to undo the buttons when I feel him freeze, ' no Hannah.' he says, this time firmly and pushes me of his so I was sitting on the bed upright. I cross my arms and put a childish pout on that I could only wish he could see.
He stands up , ' I don't want to do this yet. I want to take our time. You You mean to much to me.' he said choosing his words very carefully.
He starts walking to the door when he says, ' I will sleep down stairs.' Before he opened open ed the door I said. ' NO, wait!' A little to loudly.
He stands to listen but doesn't't turn around. ' I'll be good. I promise.' I begged. He stands there for a few seconds, as if thinking.
Then he turns back around and slides back in beside me. I snuggle in as much as I could as if he was a giant teddy bear. My giant teddy bear. ' go to sleep wonderful.' he says kissing me sweetly on the forehead and like * snap of fingers* I was asleep. ***************** I woke up happily which was strange as it has been a while. This morning I wanted to actually get up out of bed rather then pulling the covers over my head in denial that it was morning time. Yawning, I force my head up to stare up at the sex god that was lying next to me. And yeah fine whatever, its not that I know for sure he is a god in bed but he sure as hell looks like one. You You know he’s he’s got that dark mysterious, bad boy b oy and sex god go d exterior. I brushed aside the loose dark brown hair that was covering his eyes. Then his eyes fluttered open. Whoopsies. ‘ morning.’ he says after noticing me staring for god knows how long. I reach up and kiss him. And he doesn’t have morning breath! br eath! Really, Really, am I lucky or what!
‘ what time is it?’ he asks. I prop myself on my elbows so I could see the clock that was on my bedside locker. ‘ 10 am.’ I said. ‘ ummphh.’ he groans sinking back down getting comfy in the pillow. ‘ nah nah nahh, don’t want ya getting to comfy, the rents should be home soon and I’m not to sure if I would like to see you get your ass kicked by my mother or not.’ I laughed. ‘ nahh, your mum loves me.’ he says completely serious and I unfortunately cant argue. My mother did have a bit of lust sort of thing going on in her eyes when she spoke about him. Whatever mom, he’s mine. I get up out of bed and drag all the covers with me so he would be lying in the cold. Then I freeze. He was obviously to hot during the night because he was shirtless. ‘ awh nah, no fair!’ he whined. I didn’t respond instead in stead I stood there like a fool, starring. He got up after a while though, unfortunately and walked over to me so that he was in front of me.
‘ this..’ he said indicating to his body, ‘ is all yours!’ he chuckled. ‘ sweet! So can I touch it?’ I joked. ‘ you can molest me later.’ later.’ he joked. I sighed wishing he wasn’t joking because if he wasn’t I would of just counted to ten before pouncing on him. I put on my jeans and purple hoodie that was a size to big for me and after I started brushing my hair. Then I heard a door slam. Shitty shitty shitty shitty! Please don’t be my parents, I silently begged as I ran to the window. Shit. No such hope though as it was them. The parents. They were getting their stuff out of the boot of the car. ‘ quick. You have to go! Now!’ I gasped. I ran down the stairs and into the living room so I could warn Katie and Louie. I opened the door do or harshly, harshly, not caring if I wake them. But they were already awake. ‘ quick you guys. My mam and dad are home. Go out the back door would you?’ I ordered.
‘ ok, sure sure.’ Katie said breathlessly while picking all the clothes and stuff that belonged to her. I went out to the hall to point them where to go. Well Well Louie anyway because Katie already knew where to go. Joshua came running down the stairs, buttons undone properly and trousers hanging of him. If I wasn’t in such a rush I would of laughed. ‘ follow them , follow follo w them.’ I ordered. He kissed me quickly before running of after them. Then for the first time this morning I was alone. But not for long as I heard the th e fumbling of the key k ey in the door. I ran upstairs, not knowing what else to do. Then I heard the footsteps of both my parents. ‘ no I think we should tell her Peter, its only fair.’ I heard my mam say. ‘No, this is my decision and I will choose when I tell her!’ my dad yelled. I walk downstairs to them, feeling that they are talking about me. ‘ look what you did Peter, Peter, you woke her up!’ mum said looking at me with sympathy. sympathy. ‘ no its ok. I was already awake.’ I assured.
‘ are you talking about abou t me?’ I asked, either parents. ‘ No!’ my dad said quickly. ‘ Yes Yes Hannah, we are. There is something we need to tell you.’ she said serious. Dread washed over me as I realised. This something they are about to tell me is not good. And the first instinctive thought that popped into my head was, they are getting divorced.
*********************** ‘ ok..’ Katie started, ‘ you are officially scaring me now.’ now.’ she laughed nervously. nervously. I still didn’t say anything. ‘ Oh my god it was him wasn’t it! I swear to god Hannah, if he has hurt you again…. I ugh…I swear I’ll … brake his balls! Hannah…I’ll brake his balls!’ she said raged. I laughed at my friend. If only it was so simple. ‘ no, its not him.’ h im.’ I said shaking my head, finding find ing it hard to say it. ‘ well what is it then?’ she urged.
‘ Katie, I’m moving.’ I whispered evenly. Her face went white. ‘ your WHAT!?’ she shrieked. Funny. that’s how I took the news. I went through the specific details of what was said and who said what. Unfortunately I remember everything that was said… ~FLASHBACK~ ‘Well ‘W ell what is it ?’ I gulped, awaiting the bad news n ews to come.
‘ Nothing, its nothing.’ my dad told me but basically warned mum. ‘ Shut up Peter, for christs sakes!’ my mum yelled. My dad through his head back in annoyance. Then my mum turned to me, ‘ Hannah, we are moving.’ she said . ‘ we are WHAT!’ I shrieked. ‘ see I knew now wouldn’t be the right time…’ dad started . ‘ don’t start Peter!’ mam warned then continued looking at me,
‘ well honey, honey, you know money hasn’t been great for us lately. lately. And well, your father got a promotion and he has to take it. I know you are going to hate us because you have Katie and now Joshua here but honey you don’t understand, your father has to take up this opportunity.’ opportunity.’ ‘ you have got to be kidding me!’ I yelled. ‘ no I wish we were. Its only for a year anyway. anyway. Then we will be back here and our lives will be so much better. better. Your Your father will carry on with work hopefully with that new position and our worries wo rries will be over.’ my mam said and she looked relieved. I looked over to dad to see if what mam was saying was this big stupid joke. Only his face confirmed that it so clearly wasn’t. ‘ Alright. Where is it?’ I asked giving in. ‘ well you see, that’s the thing. You You can’t stay with us during the year because your father and I are going to be all over the place and we don’t want you to have to suffer in all the mess..’ ‘ but- where will I stay?’ I asked breathlessly. breathlessly. ‘ you will be going to boarding school in Ireland. And will be staying with your aunt on weekends.’
‘ No!’ I screamed. ‘ I’m afraid so kiddo. Its only for a year though.’ my father said. I shook my head in disbelief. There was no frickin way I was going to go to boarding school in Ireland! No frickin way! ~END OF FLASHBACK~ ‘ NO! I don’t want you to go!’ Katie whined. ‘ I know, either do I.’ I said grumpily. ‘ But I’m going to miss you so much! And I was looking forward to having you there through my vamp beginnings.’ she said and I saw a tear come down her right cheek. ‘ oh don’t make me cry again Katie. Believe me I think its safe to say that I officially have no tears left in my tear duct thingys.’ I stifled a laugh. She didn’t say anything. She just frowned at me. ‘ besides, I’m not leaving until another month anyway.’ anyway.’ I said optimistically. ‘ I know, but still!’ she cried. ‘ promise me, you wont get a new best friend.’ I joked.
‘ ugh do I have to?’ she fake whined. It was so easy reading her. her. She had her lips pursed together to prevent p revent her from smiling. ‘ only jokin! Pinky promise.’ she said holding her baby finger out for mine. I entwined mine with hers then let go. ‘ I have to go. Joshua is meeting me at my house.’ I sighed. ‘ haven’t told him yet, huh?’ she asked/ predicted. ‘ nope.’
********************** I starred blankly at my bedroom. I’m going to miss this place. I know its only for a year but still, this place is my home and were I belong. I wish I could take everybody with me. Katie, Jimmy, Jimmy, Joshua and even Louie! Joshua is going to hate me after this. He will hate me and when he is done hating me he will find a new, new, prettier, skinnier, funnier, funnier, better girlfriend. The door bell rang and I unwillingly got up and walked slowly down the stairs. I opened the door and let it swing open before I walked into
the living room, knowing he would follow me. ‘ hello there.’ he smiled, kissing my cheek. He pulled away realising he wasn’t getting any sort of reaction. ‘ what’s got your knickers in a twist?’ he joked. I didn’t smile. I wish I could of. ‘ Joshua, I think we should brake up.’ I said not looking at his eyes afraid I would get caught up in them. He say anything so I was forced to look at him. He was starring at our family picture that was above the fireplace. His face was expressionless so I couldn’t tell what he was feeling or thinking. ‘ why?’ he said after a while. Face still expressionless. ‘ because I’m moving movin g to Ireland for a year. To To go to boarding school. My dad got this big-o promotion in work.’ ‘ why Ireland?’ he said evenly. ‘ my aunt lives there.’ I said simply not going into to many details. ‘ look , this is why I suggested we brake up because I know a year is a long time and I understand if you want to see
other people.’ I lied. This was the complete opposite of what I wanted. But isn’t there a saying, if you love something let if free? ‘ is that what you want?’ he said reading my mind. ‘ No!’ I said, a little to quickly. quickly. He got up and walked to the door. I studied him closely once more. His fingers were clenched into fists and his body was stiff. ‘ but wait, what are we going to do?’ I blurted. ‘ I’ll see you later.’ he said and then * snap of fingers * he was gone. I ran to the door in hope to catch him. But the front door was closed and he was already speeding of his car. I leant against the door and let my knees give in as I fell to the floor, letting all the tears I had possible in me to escape this last time.
~2 WEEKS WEEK S LATER~ LATER~
Three words. I have been repeating those same three words in my head non stop. I am pathetic. Its not that I expected him to turn around in his car and come running back into me. No, I knew as soon as he shut the door behind him that it was over. That we were over. And soon I will be heading of to boarding school and all I have left of him is memories and photos. But anyway, anyway, back to me being pathetic. Oh yeah, well basically I look a state and pretty much feel a state too. Katie and even Jimmy tried helping but I shut them out. I of course, pretended everything was fine, that I was fine. As usual I am always pretending. And I know I am being completely selfish the way I am groping on about myself when I really should be worrying about Katie and her being a newly vamp. But I just cant help it. I mean, Joshua hasn’t once called, visited or anything! Like
its not like I was expecting exp ecting love letters or anything. All I wanted was to know if we were still together! Is that really to much to ask? And I know its gotta be tough on him. The girl whom he finally got as his girlfriend is leaving to go to boarding school, in IRELAND! And yeah if he didn’t think that was tough going then I would of done the breaking up, hassle free. But think of it for fo r me! I’m. The. One. Who. Is. Moving. So all in all it is way harder! Right now, now, I am lying in bed b ed repeating the same words over and over in my head. I am pathetic. That’s That’s all what I have done over the past few weeks. And do you want to know what the sad part of it is ? Its true. I really am pathetic. Never have I once thought I, me Hannah would ever deal with a break up like I have been. And the worse part of it is, I cant help it but to ignore people and I know they are only trying to help. Like Katie for instance when she said, ‘ You You never know kn ow Hannah, maybe things will turn around.’ and I thought, what are you talking about?, he never turned back around in his car! I thought this, didn’t say it.
And when Jimmy said, ‘ I knew this guy was no good!’ good !’ and I thought, good at what, kissing? Well Well your wrong Jimmy because he is amazing! Then that thought sent me straight into tears and Jimmy felt really bad because he thought he had done something wrong. Oh well I have to admit, my dad most definitely has to be the complete worst when ‘ trying’ to deal with my emotions. But the difference between him and Jimmy and Katie is, he thought I was upset because I was moving. As he said to me earlier today, today, ‘ cheer up kiddo! If your lucky luck y, you might even get to learn how to do Irish dancing!’ and I thought, well with the luck I am blessed with, I’m sure I will! I hear the door bell ring and decide to get into the shower. Its probably Jimmy as Katie has to be at work now. now. I slowly rinse myself and slowly shampoo and slowly do everything! I’m hoping Jimmy will just give up on me and go home. A girl could only have so much bad luck, right ? When I was finished getting out of the shower I creped quietly across the landing to my bedroom and hear laughter coming from both parents, meaning Jimmy was still here! Damn, he never knows when to give up! I get dressed at normal speed, knowing that he was not going anywhere. I put on a green hoody and black trackies
and walk down into the living room, where the laughter is coming from. From what I could see so far, I could see my mom sitting on the single couch on her own, her head pointed in direction of the other couch, which I only presumed Jimmy and dad was sitting on. Mam notices me as I make my way to the living room, ‘ ah here she is. Hannah why didn’t you tell us?’ mam mam chirped grinning across to the other side of the room. ‘ tell you what?’ I asked and starred across who I thought would have been Jimmy. Jimmy. Turns out it was Joshua! The heartbreaker himself! And he was grinning! That cheeky bas‘ Joshua was telling us -’ mam started but Joshua interrupted, ‘ actually Sharon, I haven’t told her yet.’ My mum giggled. Oh and she had that lust thing going on her eyes again! Me and her are going to have some chat! Joshua got up, interrupting my planned conversation that I was going to have with my mother later on. ‘ can I talk to you?’ he asked politely pointing to the kitchen. I forced a nod. We walked out kind of awkwardly. I looked at him quickly
to see if he was phased by b y this. Of course, he wasn’t. He looked perfect, as usual! God, I wish I could hate him. I closed the door behind us so my nosey mam couldn’t hear. ‘ shoot.’ I said looking him in the eyes. He couldn’t say anything that could make me feel any worse then I already felt. So therefore I wasn’t afraid. ‘ I’m going with you.’ he said evenly. A smile outlining his perfect lips. I smacked him hard across the face. I couldn’t help myself! Its like somebody took over my body. body. I didn’t even think once. And I do mean hard when I say hard. Joshua puts his hand to his cheek and tries rubbing it to calm the redness that was so clearly visible. ‘ what was that -’ he was about to ask but I slap him h im hard again. ‘ that’s for not even calling once!’ I shouted while hitting him hard across his other cheek. It made a nice whack noise. If I wasn’t so angry, angry, I would of laughed. ‘ that’s for just walking out!’ I said while trying to give him the best manly punch in the arm I could throw.
‘ And this… is for trying to joke right there!’ I whined breathlessly but I didn’t hit or punch him. I wasn’t able to do it. Instead I went straight into tears. He came over to me straight away when he realised I was crying, rather than laughing. My cries sometimes tend to sound like laughs. ‘ shh shh, its okay.’ he attempts to soothe me. ‘ no its not ok! ok ! How can you say its ok!’ ok !’ I sobbed. ‘ I wasn’t joking when I said that.’ he whispered. I looked up at him, expecting to see him smiling, keeping at the joke. Only his face was serious. I squinted my eyes in frustration, trying to understand what was going on. ‘ ok I’ll explain from the start.’ he started. I sighed and put pu t a hand to my forehead, ‘ oh boy, I better sit down then.’ I joked. I went over to the kitchen table and pulled out a chair and sat down. I directed to the chair across from me and Joshua obeyed. ‘ alright so, when I walked out of the house I went straight to my father. father. I asked him if I could go with you. I told him that I always wanted to go to school and that I would go with you just for the year. And when I come back I will take on the family business.’ he explained.
I felt a smile form around my lips. But it froze when I saw that he wasn’t finished, ‘ my father didn’t like the idea whatsoever. whatsoever. In fact, he even grounded grou nded me!’ he chuckled at the thought. ‘ so last week I came by your house, to talk to you about it. I was going to say that I would fly over every weekend. Anything that was possible I would do. But I noticed something that was stuck on to your door.’ door.’ he began shuffling through his jacket pocket and handed me a crimpled piece of paper. paper. It read, ‘ See you there!’ with a cartoon leprechaun drawn beside it. I looked up from it, eyes wide. ‘ Abbie!’ I gasped. Joshua nodded. ‘ I went home straight away and showed this to father. He decided to let me go, to protect you.’ he finished. I grinned, ‘ I think I might like Abbie now.’ now.’ I chuckled. I bounced out from my chair, so quick that I sent it flying backwards and ran into Joshua’s Joshua’s arms, kissing him everywhere, making him laugh. I think its safe to say my bad luck is over. over. W Well ell accept Abbie! Well Well she can bring it on! on ! This girl is all about the unknown baby!
