CRANE LOAD TEST PROCEDURE. Introduction The purpose of this test is to ensure that the crane as built in the required configuration is capable of performing all lifts of the project in a safe and practical manner. This test is performed to ensure that the structural strength of the boom and the braking function of the crane is suitable for the project lifts. The load test will be witnessed by an authorized third party, who will submit a certificate for the crane stating that the crane is in good condition and is able to perform all the required lifts in a safe and practical manner. If Third Party Inspection Certificate is available, the load test will be waived. The following method will be followed ; 1. Lift a test load at minimum radius ; - Check capacity of cranes - Capacity weight of crane at this radius means that with a total test weight of a load is achieved of crane capacity charts. Test loads shall not exceed 110% of the manufactuer’s load rating. - Check out weather forecast and compare with the table of the crane. 2. Crane will boom out to minimum radius to simulate test condition. - Marking of crane center and load test radius - Crane operator to boom out at designated speeds only 3. Lower test load onto the ground. 4. Lift test load from ground up to a height of 300mm. 5. Hold the test weight for 15 minutes in order to test the brake function of the crane and the structural strength of the boom. 6. Swing test load 90 degrees to the left. (Angle of swing will depend on site conditions) 7. Swing test load 180 degrees to the right.(Angle of swing will depend on site conditions) Shell Project No.: HP-3000-QAT
