Hypersensitive to drug.
Nausea, vomiting, dizziness, flushing, stomach upset, cough, or increased sweating may occur. If any of these effects persist or worsen, notify your doctor or pharmacist promptly.
Assess patient’s history of underlying condition, cough: type, frequency, character.
Use cautiously in elderly or debilitated patients with severe respiratory insufficiency. Use I.V. formulation cautiously in patients with asthma or a history of bronchospasm. Acetadote is contraindicated in patients with previous anaphylactoid reactions to acetylcysteine.
Assess patient respiration & pulmonary secretions, exercise caution on patients with respiratory insufficiency & history of bronchospasm. Instruct patient to follow directions exactly. Explain importance of using drug as directed. Teach patient how to use & clean nebulizer.
