Introduction: April 4th, 2011 The students of Delhi School of Professional Studies and Research, PGDM section – A were taken on an industrial visit to Mother Dairy, Patparganj. The largest milk producer and distributor in India.This is an Indian Company.It is carrying out its operations since 1974.

The manufacturing unit has got the most advanced technologies to manufacture manufacture India’s only Probiotic Drink. The bacteria that is used for making the drink is imported from Japan. It is then sterilized and then taken for further conversion. The bottles for filling in the drink are being manufactured in a machine costing Rs. 11 lakhs, and can produce 11,000 bottles per hour. The final bottle sealing and packaging is finally done. The machinery so used can pack and seal up to 45,000 bottles per hour. It is at this stage that the bottles are taken for the samples.

The company entered in India in 2005 and thus, is here, capturing the health market. It is taking a lot of efforts to educate the Indian customers as to “ Why yakult is important for them and their family?” India is a huge market. Analyzing the prospective market in India the brand has pushed it selves to it. The company has got plans to expand more. But is not able to do so because of the lack of funds. Yakult has not attained its break- even point yet. It is still covering up the costs so incurred.

It is pushing it selves in the market with hardcore advertising and the BTL(Below The Line promotion) activities such as putting up canopies at most crowded places, mall activities etc.
