Today the company has become one of the leading lingerie companies in Malaysia dealing with domestic and international market since. Based in Teluk Intan Perak, Perak, the company operated its business business under 77,000 square feet, production complex with more than 1000 local and foreign workforce. The production complex has the capacity to produce 2,500,000 pieces of lingerie in a month. 1.3 Financial Statements

Year over year, Caely Holdings Bhd has been able to grow revenues from RM 88.5 million to RM 104.9 million. Most impressively, the company has been able to reduce the percentage of sales devoted to cost of goods sold from 86.45% to 84.39%. This was a driver that led to an improvement in the bottom line from a loss of RM 2.5 Million to a smaller loss which is less than RM 200,000. As of:

2.0 INDUSTRIAL FUNCTIONAL AREA







2.1. Functional Skill

2.1.1 Computer Skills Undergone training at Caelgirl (M) SDN. BHD give me opportunity to used quite a few of new software. Among them is Lotus SmartSuite Wordpro and Lotus 123. I also introduced to the company Integrated Production Tracking System call Dejawint. The system quite complicated, it allows order tracking, monitoring staff performance, produ productio ction n produc productiv tivity ity and progre progress. ss. I also also learned learned using using the compan company y interna internall network to share or transfer information and data. My typing speeds also have been improved.

2.1.2 Project Management For now I only involve or assigned on a few minor project. Among them is Standard Time Managem Management ent Study Study (STMS) (STMS),, Operati Operations ons Descrip Descriptio tion n Documen Documentati tation on and Manufacturing Flowchart. The STMS were the most challenging task and its take more than a week to finish. From this project I have learned how to organize, plan project and control it.

2.1.3 Process Evaluation Analyses Working under production complex condition, I have able to study the production process flow. I also learned about the production planning involving time, capacity, materials flow and production line layout.

2.1.4 Quantitative/ Analytical Abilities. Some of the task need me to analyze the outcome and conducted some calculation. Example of the task that I conducted is STMS. I have to calculate the timing using

2.1.5 Adaptable Problem Solving Most of the time, when I face problem in my task or work I will try to solve by my self first. However if I can’t solve the problem I will ask my mentor or others staff to help my find solution or solve the problem. To hand handle le the the communication problem with foreign operators I always try to communicate with them using simple word and try to include some hand instruction. If t he worker still can’t understand I will ask help he lp from other worker to be translator.

2.1.6 Decision Making Ability During the training I have being given opportunities to make some decision that relat related ed to my task task.. Alth Althou ough gh it’s it’s just just a mino minorr decis decisio ion, n, howe howeve verr it give givess me motivation to perform the entire task successfully. 2.2.1 Interpersonal Skills/ Presence

2.2.2 Teamwork’s Skill Most of the time during the training, I worked with Miss. Saidah. She guided me in every task I conducted. Some of the task we perform it together. I was able to contribute my ideas and insights i nsights in our works.

2.2.3 Communication Skill During the training, I able to improved my communication skill especially my English languages skill both spoken and written. This is because English is the most used language in the company for every day communication and report re port paperwork’s. paperwork’s.

2.2.4 Self Management Getting to know what its like to work in the real industry have tough me how to conduct myself properly in a business environment. I am able to improve my time management, more punctual in work and meeting report deadline. I also leaned how to wear appropriate attire to work and manage my appearance well.

2.1.5 Leadership awareness Although I don’t have opportunities to lead any project or working group throughout the training, however I am able to gain some useful leadership insight by observing how some of the company superiors lead their subordinate. However this didn’t effect my excitement and focus on the ongoing training period. On the contrary I am happy to have been able to take this valuables opportunity to explore and experience new dimension of work in manufacturing industry which I never experience before. During my placement I had the practical work experience under professional supervision. Ms. Saidah my mentor treated me as his real assistant. I was capable to contribute my ideas and insights in her works. At the same time, she provided me with productive and stimulating learning environment. I try to apply what I have learned in the lecture class at USM to actual work setting. My English language skills both spoken and written also were developed. I also able to get a better unders understan tandin ding g about about the produc productio tion n proces processs in a factory factory especia especially lly related related to garment garmentss manufacturin manufacturing. g. From the task and project project given by my supervisor supervisor and mentor, mentor, I able to understand manufacturing related aspect such as production flow, material flow, production layout, quality assurance and much more. This training has exposed me to the invaluable experience that I can't gain from the lecture hall or classroom. Furthermore, the industrial training is not only the knowledge outside the classroom but it also opens my world view wider.

Unstructured Training Program Althou Although gh my overall overall trainin training g is consid considered ered good, good, however however the trainin training g conducted by the company is not well structured and coordinated. Orders or task given to me were mostly depending on my supervisor decision. Some time I am overload with with task and at some point I don't have have any work to do for the whole day. day.

Lack of Facility During my training, my working table is not equipped with computer. Opportunities ■

Future Career in Garments Industry Undergoing training at one of the biggest lingerie’s manufacturer and exporter in the country, have expose me with every aspect of the growing industry. These valuable experiences have built my interest to maybe build my future career in garments industry. I maybe cant used this experience to seek job in other company in the same industry i ndustry..

Beside employer, coworker also some time may exploit or bullies the trainee to do their work. However I am glade that my supervisor and coworkers have treated me with kind and respect.
