Exporting Using MapInfo 8.5
1. First open MapInfo and load maps using the Open icon or using Open at the File menu. As for me I already edited the roads using layer control [Right-click] to make it neat and I also loaded our network database.
2. Again using the Open icon load your log files. Using Create Thematic Map located at the Map menu, I already created a thematic layer for you view our log file presentably.
3. Click Select located at the Query Menu for you to select the loaded log file and separate it from the other layer to avoid overlapping during exporting.
4. Select the table you want to select from Select Records From Table and select the column or the type of data of your log file it is Rx Quality or Rx Level, then click OK.
5. After selecting and clicking OK. You will see Red Squares surrounding every detail of your log file which mean that you have already selected that layer.
6. Open Tool Manager located at the Tool menu.
7. Tool Manager will appear at your screen. Load Google Earth Connection Utility by clicking the left checkbox then click OK.
8. An Icon will appear at the right side of your Tool Bar that looks like a Small Globe covered with blue ocean.
9. Click the Google Connection Utility Icon that looks like a Small Globe then a tab window will appear on your screen. Select Export selected objects (KML) then click OK.
10. A different window will appear on your screen. Select the path where you want to save your exported file and create your File Name then click Choose Columns.
11. Choose all the parameters at the Available Columns and import it at the Selected Columns by clicking the Greater Than sign.
12. After selecting all the parameters click OK then OK.
13. You’ll see the two icons encircled will continuously blink until the exporting is finished. Wait for several minute.
14. After exporting. Open your exported file at Google Earth which is now in KML format. Your log file is now converted into series of icon.
Below is the example of the Edited Log file which had been exported from MapInfo
