NISM Series-VIII Equity Derivatives Certification Examination www.intelivisto.com In order to augment market quality and standard of practices in the securities market in India among intermediaries, their workforce, investors and other stakeholders, NISM has launched its Series-VIII Equity Derivatives Certification Examination. This certification examination is available from October 8, 2012 and mandated as the requisite standard for associated persons functioning as approved users and sales personnel of the trading member of an equity derivatives exchange or equity derivative segment of a recognized stock exchange. What about NCFM and BSE Certification? Those who have already cleared NSE’s NCFM Derivatives Market (Dealers) Module (DMDM) or BSE’s Certificate on Derivatives Exchange (BCDE) on or before 11th January 2013, they need not clear the NISM Series VIII Examination. Their respective certificates will be valid till the specified period, but in order to revalidate such certificates, they have to clear NISM Series-VIII exam or successfully complete the NISM CPE for Equity Derivatives before expiry of validity of such certificates. Objective The examination aims to enable a better understanding of various derivatives products available in equity derivatives markets, regulations and risks associated with the products and the exchange mechanisms of clearing and settlement. It emphasizes the understanding of various trading strategies that can be built using futures and options on both stocks and stock indices. The
examination also covers knowledge competencies related to the understanding of the financial structure in India and the importance of the different rules and regulations governing the Indian securities market, especially those related to the equity derivatives segment. Framework Like other NISM certification examinations, this exam also will be a computer-based examination with multiple choice questions. The examination consists of 100 questions carrying 1 mark each and to be completed in two hours time with passing score set at 60%. There shall also be negative marking of 25% of the marks assigned to the question for each wrong answer. This certification will be valid for the period of 3 years.
