Introduction Kunda Pani Prasodhan Udhyog is the industry located in Patan Industrial Estate which manufactures Pet bottles and Jars and fills the purified water in the brand name of Yechu La drinking water. This industry has been established with a purpose of providing hygienic and purified drinking water to end Consumers.
Operation Decisions 1. Product Design Kunda Pani Prasodhan Udhyog produces pet bottles and water jars. In addition to it, it sells purified water in these bottles and jars under the brand name of Yechu La drinking Water.
2. Process The process for manufacturing a Yechu la drinking water bottle and drinking water jar is same. Firstly, the Resins are melted with the help of a machine to make PETs (Polyethylene Terephthalate). Then from the PET samples, Bottles and Jars are formed. Then, the bottle and jars are filled with purified water with the help of Rinse-fill-capping machines. Later, they are packaged and labeled by the workers. After the packaging, the cases are passed down through Conveyor belts and are loaded onto the truck which transports them to the respective wholesalers and Retailers.
3. Quality Check The quality check is performed continuously at the Computer screen while manufacturing Bottles and Jars by wearing gloves and Hairnets. Then, the staffs make sure that the Bottles and Jars are of uniform shape and quality. In the process of filing waters in Bottles and Jars, Staff regularly observes the overall filing process and makes sure that there are no unwanted particles in the bottles and at last, after packaging, the bottles are checked for any tampered area and tampered bottles are passed down to the recycling process.
4. Location The factory is located in Patan Industrial Estate, Patan, Lalitpur. The location is quite suitable for the company to carry out its various distribution functions conveniently. It has easy access to roads and is in the prime location which is feasible for supplying goods.
5. Layout The layout of the factory is well managed within a very small area. The organization of Machineries is done in a systematic order. The Machines are placed in a Sequential manner as per the manufacturing process in order to ensure the efficiency. However, the lighting is dim which could be a scope of area to improve.
6. Human Resource and Job Design There are a total of 30 employees appointed in the factory. 10 workers are directly involved in the process of making the bottles and jars, 8 workers are assigned for the packaging and labeling process and 8 workers are assigned for the distribution of the Bottles and Jars. Apart from this, there are 4 people who are involved in the Administration process.
7. Supply Chain Management Raw materials (Resins required to make PETs) are imported from India. After the completion of production and filing of Yechu La water bottles and jars, they are passed down through Conveyors and are loaded into Trucks to be sent to wholesalers. These Trucks can be of Factory or wholesalers as well. Ultimately, the wholesalers send the Yechu La Water bottles and Jars to different retailers and finally, Consumers can buy them.
8. Inventory Management In general, the factory maintains inventory of Resins (which is imported from India) for 4 Months and in rainy season, it stocks Inventory for at least 6 months to avoid any unforeseen circumstances.
9. Task Scheduling The scheduling of employees is managed properly in the factory. There is increase in demand of products in summer season and in various events. So, during these peak times, the company hires additional workers and manages time schedule accordingly.
10. Maintenance Various types of equipments such as High pressure air compressor, Perform heater, Blowing Machine, Perform conveyor and Mould chiller of Bottle and Jar manufacturing Sections are regularly checked. Similarly, Rinse-Fill-Capping Machines and Pouch packing machines of Bottle and Jar filing Sections and other supportive equipments are regularly observed and timely maintained.
