INTRODUCTION This standard specifies the design, and installation practices to be applied in the construction of MV and LV cable of underground distribution system. It is intended to assist the engineers and field personnel to achieve standardization in construction and to ensure a satisfactory and economical level of service without operating restrictions so that the operational errors should be minimum for safety and reliability.

SERVICE CONDITIONS AND CONSTRUCTION PARAMETERS For construction and operation of underground cable distribution network, the service conditions and system requirements shall be as given in the latest revision of SEC General Specification

REVISION AND ADDITIONS This standard is subject to revision as new materials and methods of construction are developed. The latest revision of this standard shall be applicable. Revised sheets shall be issued from time to time and should be inserted as soon as these are received. Superseded or obsolete sheets shall be removed immediately upon receipt of revised sheets. The date of the latest issue of each sheet is printed at the top corner under the standard number.

DEFINITIONS Ultimate strength is the maximum load which a material will sustain when the load is gradually increased until the rupture or failure takes place.

ministry of communication) during engineering stage of the project. Given below is the procedure to be followed in obtaining R-O-W: ¾
Prepare R-O-W drawing proposed showing proposed route of the underground cable, cross-section of the trench or duct bank (if required ) and location of other utilities (e.g. telephone, water, sewer) lines along proposed route (if known).

Submit R-O-W drawing to the relations section in the concerned operating area.
¾
The actual construction work shall not be started until the digging permit from relevant authorities is obtained.
Standard R-O-W locations for underground utilities in streets of new areas have been developed by the Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs in coordination with the Ministry of Communications and the ministries having authority over the concerned utilities. 6

Being the most economical way, direct earth buried cable laying has been standardized except where the cable route intersects road, street and other utility mains. The major activities associated with direct buried cable installation are trench excavation, cable laying, are described in the following sections. Fig. 1 through 6 is trench constructions for direct buried cable. Trench Excavation Before proceeding with actual work of trench excavation, following preparations should be completed: Review the cable route drawings, R-O-W drawings, digging permit, and inspect the cable route from end to end.

Such information should be gathered from the Ministry of communications or municipality so that ultimately the standard depth of cable can be achieved. Trenches may be dug by hand or, if site conditions permit, a mechanical excavator can be used. Asphalt shall be cut by a motor driven saw. Manual digging shall be used at locations where existing underground facilities are encountered. Existing facilities uncovered during excavation shall be protected, shored, braced and supported, as necessary. 6.1.3 Sand Bedding/Cover and Cable Tiles A bedding of Clean, fine sand shall be placed at the bottom of the trench. After laying the cable, all stone and rubble that have fallen in to the trench during the cable laying shall be removed. A cover of clean, fine sand shall be placed over the cable. The thickness of sand bedding/cover shall be as per the relevant trench construction drawing. Backfilling and Reinstatement
Backfilling and reinstatement of the trench shall be in accordance with the requirements of the authority (e.g. municipality. MOC, etc.) under whose jurisdiction the area falls. - ٢ﻓﻲ اﻟﻄﺒﻘﺎت اﻟﺘﻲ ﺑﻌﻤﻖ أآﺜﺮ ﻣﻦ ) ٦٠ﺱﻢ ( ﻣﻦ ﻃﺒﻘﺔ ﻣﺎ ﺗﺤﺖ اﻷﺱﺎس ﻳﺘﻢ اﻟﺮدم ﻋﻠﻰ ﻃﺒﻘﺎت ﺑﺤﻴﺚ ﻻ ﻳﺰﻳﺪ ﺱﻤﻜﻬﺎ ﻋﻦ ) ٣٠ﺱﻢ ( آﺤﺪ أﻗﺼﻰ وﻳﺠﺐ أن ﺗﺮش ﺑﺎﻟﻤﺎء و ﺗﺨﻠﻂ ﺟﻴﺪًا ﻗﺒﻞ أن ﺗﻮﺿﻊ ﻓﻲ اﻟﺤﻔﺮﻳﺔ ﺡﺴﺐ اﻟﻨﺴﺐ اﻟﻤﻘ ﺮرة ﻟﻠﻮﺻ ﻮل إﻟ ﻰ أﺡﺴ ﻦ آﺜﺎﻓ ﺔ ﺑﻤﻮﺟ ﺐ ﺗﺠﺮﺑ ﺔ ﺑﺮﻣﺘ ﻮ اﻟﻤﻌﺪﻟ ﺔ و ﺗﻬ ﺮس ﻟﻠﻮﺻ ﻮل إﻟ ﻰ ﻥﺴ ﺒﺔ ) ( % ٩٠ﻣ ﻦ اﻟﻜﺜﺎﻓ ﺔ اﻟﺠﺎﻓﺔ اﻟﻌﻈﻤﻰ اﻟﻤﻘﺮرة ﺑﻤﻮﺟﺐ ﺗﺠﺮﺑﺔ ﺑﺮآﺘﻮ اﻟﻤﻌﺪﻟﺔ . - ٣ﻓـﻲ اﻟﻄﺒﻘﺎت اﻟﺘﻲ ﺗﻠﻲ اﻟﻄﺒﻘﺎت أﻋﻼﻩ ﻋﻠﻰ ﻋﻤﻖ اﻗﻞ ﻣ ﻦ ) ٦٠ﺱ ﻢ ( ﻣ ﻦ ﺗﺤ ﺖ اﻷﺱ ﺎس ﻓﺘ ﺮدم ﻋﻠ ﻰ ﻃﺒﻘ ﺎت أﻳﻀ ﺎ وﺱﻤﻚ آـﻞ ﻃﺒﻘﺔ ﻻ ﻳﺰﻳﺪ ﻋﻦ ) ٢٠ﺱﻢ ( وﻳﺠﺐ أن ﺗﺮش ﺑﺎﻟﻤﺎء وﺗﻬﺮس ﺡﺘﻰ اﻟﻮﺻﻞ إﻟﻰ ﻥﺴ ﺒﺔ ﻻ ﺗﻘ ﻞ ﻋ ﻦ ) ٩٥ ( %ﻣﻦ اﻟﻜﺜﺎﻓﺔ اﻟﺠﺎﻓﺔ اﻟﻌﻈﻤﻰ و ﻳﺠﺐ أن ﺗﻜﻮن اﻟﻤﻮاد ﻃﺒﻘًﺎ ﻟﻠﻤﻮاﺻﻔﺎت . - ٤ﻃﺒﻘﺔ ﻣﺎ ﺗﺤﺖ اﻷﺱﺎس اﻟﺤﺠﺮي اﻟﻤﺘ ﺪرج ﺗﺘﻜ ﻮن ﻣ ﻦ ﻣﺨﻠ ﻮط ﻣﺘﺠ ﺎﻥﺲ ﻣ ﻦ اﻟﺤﺼ ﻤﻪ اﻟﻤﻜﺴ ﺮة أو ﻗﻄ ﻊ اﻟﺼ ﺨﻮر و اﻟﺮﻣﻞ واﻟﻄﻤﻲ وﻳﺠﺐ أن ﺗﺪرج ﻣﻮاد هﺬﻩ اﻟﻄﺒﻘﺔ ﺡﺴﺐ اﻵﺗﻲ:

- ١ﺗﻮﺿ ﻊ ﻟﻮﺡ ﺎت ﺑﺄﺑﻌ ﺎد ٠٫٦٠ × ١٫٠٠ﻣﺘ ﺮ ﻋﻠ ﻰ أول اﻟﺤﻔ ﺮ وأﺥﺮه ﺎ وﻋﻨ ﺪ اﻟﺘﻘﺎﻃﻌ ﺎت اﻟﺮﺋﻴﺴ ﻴﺔ ﻳﻜﺘ ﺐ ﻋﻠﻴﻬ ﺎ اﺱ ﻢ اﻟﺸﺮآﺔ أو اﻟﻤﺆﺱﺴﺔ ورﻗﻢ هﺎﺗﻔﻬﺎ واﻟﺠﻬﺔ اﻟﺘﺎﺑﻌﺔ ﻟﻬﺎ واﻻﺱﺘﺸﺎري ورﻗﻢ اﻟﻤﺸﺮوع وﺗﻜﻮن اﻟﻜﺘﺎﺑﺔ ﺑ ﺎﻟﻠﻐﺘﻴﻦ اﻟﻌﺮﺑﻴ ﺔ واﻹﻥﺠﻠﻴﺰﻳﺔ . - ٢ﻳﺠ ﺐ ﻋﻤ ﻞ اﻟﺘﺤ ﻮﻳﻼت اﻟﻤﺮورﻳ ﺔ وﺗﺰوﻳ ﺪهﺎ ﺑﺎﻟﻠﻮﺡ ﺎت اﻹرﺵ ﺎدﻳﺔ واﻟﺘﺤﺬﻳﺮﻳ ﺔ واﻟﺤ ﻮاﺟﺰ ﺡﺴ ﺒﻤﺎ ورد ﺑ ﺪﻟﻴﻞ أﺟﻬ ﺰة اﻟﺘﺤﻜﻢ اﻟﻨﻈﺎﻣﻴﺔ ﻓﻲ اﻟﻤﺮور ﺑﻤﻨﺎﻃﻖ اﻟﻌﻤﻞ اﻟﺼﺎدر ﻣﻦ ﻗﺒﻞ وزارة اﻟﻤﻮاﺻﻼت . - ٣ﻃﺒﻘﺎ ﻣﺎ ﺗﺤﺖ اﻷﺱﺎس اﻟﺤﺼﻮي واﻷﺱﺎس اﻟﺤﺼﻮي اﻟﻤﺘﺪرج ﺗﺘﻜﻮن ﻣﻦ ﻣﺨﻠﻮط ﻣﺘﺠﺎﻥﺲ ﻣﻦ اﻟﺤﺼ ﻤﻪ اﻟﻤﻜﺴ ﺮة أو ﻗﻄﻊ اﻟﺼﺨﻮر واﻟﺮﻣـﻞ واﻟﻄﻤﻲ آﺬﻟﻚ ﻳﺠﺐ أن ﺗﻜﻮن ﻥﺴﺒﺔ ﺗﺤﻤﻞ آﺎﻟﻴﻔﻮرﻥﻴﺎ % ٦٠ﻋﻠﻰ اﻷﻗﻞ وإذا ﺗﻌﺬر ﺗﺤﻘﻴﻖ ذﻟﻚ ﻳﻨﺴﻖ ﻣﻊ وزارة اﻟﻤﻮاﺻﻼت ﻟﻠﺘﻮﺟﻴﻪ ﺑﻤﺎ ﻳﻠﺰم وﻳﺠﺐ أن ﺗﺮش هﺬﻩ اﻟﻤﻮاد ﺑﺎﻟﻤﻞء وﺗﺨﻠﻂ ﺟﻴﺪًا وﺗﻔﺮش وﺗﻬﺮس إﻟﻰ درﺟﺔ % ١٠٠ﻣﻦ اﻟﻜﺜﺎﻓﺔ اﻟﺠﺎﻓﺔ اﻟﻘﺼﻮى وﻳﻜﻮن ﻣﺴﺘﻮى ﺱﻄﺢ أﻋﻠﻰ ﻣﻘﻄﻊ ﻣﻨﻬﺎ ﻋﻠﻰ ﻣﺴﺘﻮى اﻗ ﻞ ﻣ ﻦ ﻣﺴ ﺘﻮى ﻗﺎع اﻹﺱﻔﻠﺖ اﻟﻘﺪﻳﻢ وﺗﻔﺮد ﻋﻠﻰ ﻃﺒﻘﺎت ﻻ ﻳﺰﻳﺪ ﺱﻤﻜﻬﺎ آﻞ ﻣﻨﻬﺎ ﻋﻦ ) ١٥ﺱﻢ ( . - ٤ﻳﻨﺒﻐ ﻲ ﻋﻠ ﻰ اﻟﻤﻘ ﺎول اﻟﻤﻨﻔ ﺬ إﺟ ﺮاء آﺎﻓ ﺔ اﻻﺥﺘﺒ ﺎرات اﻟﺘ ﻲ ﺗﺘﻄﻠﺒﻬ ﺎ ﻣﻮاﺻ ﻔﺎت وزارة اﻟﻤﻮاﺻ ﻼت و اﻟﻤﻮاﺻ ﻔﺎت اﻟﺨﺎﺻﺔ ﺑﺎﻟﻤﺸﺮوع وآﺬﻟﻚ اﻟﺘﻘﻴﺪ ﺑﺘﻌﻠﻴﻤﺎت اﻟﻤﻬﻨﺪس اﻟﻤﺸﺮف . - ٥اﻟﺮدم ﺡﻮل اﻟﻤﻨﺸﺎت : اﻟﻤﻘﺼﻮد ﺑﻬﺎ اﻷﺱﺎﺱﺎت ،ﻏ ﺮف اﻟﺘﺠﻤ ﻊ واﻟﺘﻔﺘ ﻴﺶ ،ﻏ ﺮف اﻟﺼ ﻤﺎﻣﺎت ،ﻏ ﺮف اﻟﻐﺴ ﻴﻞ ...اﻟ ـﺦ وﻳﺠ ﺐ أن ﻳﻜ ﻮن اﻟ ﺮدم ﺑﻤﻮاد ﻣﻄـﺎﺑﻘﺔ ﻟﻠﻤﻮاﺻﻔﺎت ﻋﻠﻰ ﻃﺒﻘﺎت ﻻ ﺗﺘﻌﺪى ﺱﻤـﻚ اﻟﻄﺒﻘﺔ ١٥ﺱﻢ وﻳﺠﺐ أن ﺗﺮش ﺑﺎﻟﻤﺎء وﺗﺨﻠﻂ ﺟﻴﺪًا وﺗﻬﺮس ﺡﺘﻰ اﻟﻮﺻﻮل إﻟﻰ ﻥﺴﺒﺔ % ٩٥ﻣﻦ اﻟﻜﺜﺎﻓﺔ اﻟﺠﺎﻓﺔ اﻟﻤﻘﺮرة وﺗﻌﺎﻣﻞ اﻟﻄﺒﻘﺘﻴﻦ اﻟﻨﻬﺎﺋﻴﺘﻴﻦ ﺑﻤﺜﻞ ﻃﺒﻘﺔ ﻣﺎ ﺗﺤﺖ اﻷﺱ ﺎس اﻟﺤﺠ ﺮي ﺑﺤﻴﺚ ﺗﺼﻞ اﻟﻜﺜﺎﻓﺔ اﻟﻌﻈﻤﻰ إﻟﻰ ﻥﺴﺒﺔ . % ١٠٠ آﺬﻟﻚ ﻳﺠﺐ أن ﺗﻜﻮن ﻥﺴﺒﺔ ﺗﺤﻤﻴﻞ آﺎﻟﻔﻴﻮرﻥﻴﺎ ) ( % ٦٠ﻋﻠﻰ اﻷﻗ ﻞ وﻳﺠ ﺐ أن ﺗ ﺮش ه ﺬﻩ اﻟﻤ ﻮاد ﺑﺎﻟﻤ ﺎء وﺗﺨﻠ ﻂ ﺟﻴ ﺪًا ﺙ ﻢ ﺗﻔﺮش وﺗﻬﺮس إﻟﻰ درﺟﺔ آﺜﺎﻓﺔ ) ( % ١٠٠ﻣﻦ اﻟﻜﺜﺎﻓﺔ اﻟﺠﺎﻓﺔ اﻟﻤﻘﺮرة ﺑﻮاﺱﻄﺔ ﺗﺠﺮﺑﺔ ﺑﺮآﺘﻮر اﻟﻤﻌﺪﻟ ﺔ و ﻳﻜ ﻮن ﺱ ﻤﻚ هﺬﻩ اﻟﻄﺒﻘﺔ ﻋﻠﻰ ﻃﺒﻘﺘﻴﻦ آﻞ ﻣﻨﻬﺎ ) ١٥ﺱﻢ ( وﻳﺠﺐ أن ﺗﺮش ﺑﺎﻟﻤﺎء و ﺗﻬﺮس ﺡﺘ ﻰ اﻟﻮﺻ ﻮل إﻟ ﻰ درﺟ ﺔ اﻟ ﺪك اﻟﻤﻄﻠﻮﺑ ﺔ وﻳﺠﺐ أن ﻳﻜﻮن ﻣﻌﺎﻣﻞ اﻟﻠﺪوﻥﻪ ﻻ ﻳﺰﻳﺪ ﻋﻦ ) . ( % ٦٠ إﻋﺎدة اﻟﺴﻔﻠﺘﺔ ﺑﻌـﺪ ﺟﻔﺎف ﻃﺒﻘﺔ ﻣﺎ ﺗﺤﺖ اﻷﺱ ـﺎس اﻟﺤﺠ ـﺮي اﻟﻤﺘ ﺪرج ﻣ ﻦ اﻟﻤ ﺎء ﺗﻤﺎﻣ ﺎ ﺗ ﺮش ﺑﻄﺒﻘ ﺔ ﻣ ـﻦ اﻹﺱ ﻔﻠﺖ اﻟﻤﺘﻮﺱ ﻂ اﻟﺘﺠﻤ ﺪ ) ( DCIﺑﻤﻌﺪل ) ١٫٥آﺞ /م ( وﻳﺠﺐ أن ﺗﺮش هﺬﻩ اﻟﻤﺎدة ﺑﺎﻟﺮﺵﺎﺵﺎت اﻟﻤﻴﻜﺎﻥﻴﻜﻴﺔ اﻟﻤﻌﺘﻤﺪة ﺑﻌﺪ ﺿﺒﻄﻬﺎ ﻟﺘ ﺮش اﻟﻜﻤﻴ ﺔ اﻟﻤﻘﺮرة ﺑﺸﻜﻞ ﻣﺘﺠﺎﻥﺲ ﻓﻲ ﺟﻤﻴﻊ أﺟﺰاء اﻟﻤﻨﻄﻘﺔ اﻟﻤﺮاد ﺱﻔﻠﺘﺘﻬﺎ أو ﺑﺎﺱﺘﺨﺪام اﻟﺒﺮاﻣﻴﻞ . هﺬا وﺗﺘﺮك هﺬﻩ اﻟﻄﺒﻘﺔ ﻟﻤﺪة ) ٢٤ﺱﺎﻋﺔ ( ﺙﻢ ﺗﺘﻢ ﻋﻤﻠﻴﺔ اﻟﺴﻔﻠﺘﺔ أو ﻋﻤﻠﻴﺔ وﺿﻊ اﻷﺱﺎس اﻹﺱ ﻔﻠﺘﻲ وﻗﺒ ﻞ وﺿ ﻊ اﻷﺱ ﺎس اﻹﺱﻔﻠﺘﻲ ﻳﺠﺐ أن ﻳﻘﻮم اﻟﻤﻘﺎول ﺑﻘﺺ ﻣﻨﻄﻘﺔ ﻟﺤﺎم اﻹﺱﻔﻠﺖ اﻟﻘﺪﻳﻢ ﺑﺎﻟﻤﻨﺸﺎر ﻋﻤﻮدﻳ ًﺎ ﺙﻢ ﻳﺠﺐ ﻋﻠﻴﺔ ﺗﻨﻈﻴﻒ اﻟﻤﻮﻗﻊ ﻣﻦ أﻳ ﺔ ﺵ ﻮاﺋﺐ أو أﺗﺮﺑ ﺔ ﻣﺘﺮﺱ ﺒﺔ ﻋﻠ ﻰ اﻟﺴ ﻄﺢ اﻟﻤ ﺮاد ﺱ ﻔﻠﺘﺘﻪ آ ﺬﻟﻚ ﻳ ﺘﻢ ده ﺎن ﺡ ﻮاف اﻹﺱ ﻔﻠﺖ اﻟﻘ ﺪﻳﻢ ﺑﻤ ﺎدة اﻹﺱ ﻔﻠﺖ اﻟﺴ ﺮﻳﻊ اﻟﺘﺠﻤﺪ ) ( RC2وآﺬﻟﻚ ﺑﻌﺪ ﺗﻨﻈﻴﻔﻬﺎ ﺟﻴﺪًا ﻣﻦ اﻷﺗﺮﺑﺔ ﺗﻢ ﻓﺮد ﻃﺒﻘﺔ اﻷﺱﺎس اﻹﺱﻔﻠﺘﻲ ﺑﺎﻟﺴﻤﻚ اﻟﻤﻨﺎﺱﺐ ﻟﻴﺘﻢ اﻟﻮﺻﻮل إﻟﻰ ﺱﻤﻚ اﻟﻄﺒﻘﺔ اﻟﻤﻄﻠﻮﺑﺔ ﺑﻌﺪ اﻟﻬﺮس وﻳﺠﺐ أن ﺗﺨﻀﻊ ﻣﻮاد هﺬﻩ اﻟﻄﺒﻘﺔ ﻟﻠﺘﺪرج اﻟﺘﺎﻟﻲ:

• Cement shall be type 1 and in areas having water logging and salinity, Sulphate resistant cement type 5 may be used. SEC Engineer shall direct to the type of cement to be used. • Water shall be free from silt, organic matter, alkalies or other impurities. Page 18 of 52

• The average grain size of sand is 0.35mm and the mud content shall not be more than 5%. • Forms to be used, these shall be sufficiently tight to prevent loss of mortar from concrete and shall be maintained rigidly in position until concrete has hardened enough to prevent damage by the removal. • If required by SEC Engineer, the concrete foundation sample test of Pole and anchor shall be carried out. The concrete sample to be crushed after seven days. • All lean concrete under reinforced base to be premixed from factory with 250 kg cement/M2 of concrete minimum strength 14 N/mm2. • Lean concrete 15 Cm thick shall be used all around the 15 Cm Dia P.V.C Pipes running underground. • All R.C.C to be premixed from factory with 350 kg cement/M2 of concrete minimum strength 21 N/mm2 (3000 P.S.I). • Sand should be coarse grained, clean and free from all foreign matter. • Aggregate should be well graded (19mm Max size), clean and free from all foreign matter. • All steel reinforcing bar to be high yield deformed type conforming to metric BS 444.9 Min yield strength 410 N/mm2. • Reinforcement cover with in concrete to be as follows: Roof Slab 20 mm, Footing 60mm, others 40 mm. 8
SOIL CLASSIFICATION: The soils are classified according to the A. B. Chance test probe method. The chance test probe is a mechanical tool to identify soil in a simple and quick way from the earth surface without core samples. To find out the soil bearing capacity the soil test probe is screwed into the soil. As it displaces the soil, probe torque readings are measured in inch-pounds on a torque gauge.
