THE PRISONS (DELHI AMENDMENT) ACT, 1956 [16th May, 19561
An Act to amend the Prisons Act, 1894, in its application to the State of Delhi.
BE it enacted by the &Ihi State Legislative Assembly in the Seventh Year of the Republic of India as follows :Short titie 1. (1) This Act may be called and corn- iendment) Act, 1956. mencemenh

2. In section 46 of the Prisons Act. 1894 (hereinafter ~~~~d~~~~ of Section feferred to as the principal Act&46, Act IX (i) sub-section (12) shall be omitted; of 1894.
(ii) in the proviso the words "or to whipping" shall
be omitted.
3. In sub-section (1) of section 47 of the principal Act, Amendment of Secclause (4) shall be omitted. tion 47, Act IX of 1894. 4. In sub-sdon (I) d section 50 d the principal Act. Amendment of section the words "or of whipping" shall be omitted. 50, Act IX of 1894. of Section 51, Act IX 1894Repeal of Section 53 Act IX ofr 1894.
5. In subsection (2) d section 51 of the principal Act, the words "and, in the case of offences for which whipping is awarded, the Superintendent shall record the substance of the evidence of the witnesses, the defence of the primer. and the finding with the reasons therefor" shall be omitted.

6. Section 53 of the principal Act is hereby repealed.
