About Chemeca Chem-E-Car Competition 2016 organized by hosted by the Institution of Chemical Engineers in Australia (IChemE), Institution of Chemical Engineers in New Zealand (IChemE), Institution of Professional Engineers New Zealand (IPENZ), Engineers Australia (EA), and the Royal Australian Chemical Institute (RACI), is an anual international competition which for mally became the biggest future car competition. The competition is about working as a team to design a complex chemical process reaction to a tight schedule with a fixed budget. The effectiveness of the car is strongly dependent on its mechanical robustness and so success relies on more than theory alone. The competition will be held in Adelaide Convention Center, Adelaide, Australia, on September 25st – 28th. This event would be participated by student from several countries among the world. Young undergraduate students will show their best idea through their innovation which will give impact toward the prototype development as futuristic car.
Aims The competition and conference will be joined by several scholars, students, lectures, and researchers coming from various countries such as Australian, New Zealand, and Asia Pacific Region. By this opportunity, the delegates will get more benefit in introducing their research car and get notice to gain feedbacks or interchange of information in order to keep sustaining our prototype. The Chemeca Chem-E-Car Competition can be used as forum to broad student knowledge in inter or multidisciplinary disciplines, also increasing network globally from other colleagues.
Information & Publications The competition will be held on September 25st – 28th in Adelaide Convention Center, Adelaide, Australia.

In this competition, Universitas Indonesia send 1 team Nayaka 4.0 it’s consist of 6 person. The delegates description is on below.
N AYAKA Pressure type car driven by compressed air results from the reaction of hydrogen peroxide decomposition. Nayaka is currently the fourthgeneration car that has a smaller pneumatic cylinder on the development, making it more efficient in the use of compressed air energy yield of the reaction. Nayaka first competition Chem-E-Car on 3rd ICECC 2014 and won 2nd and 1st Race Competition at the event APCChE Incorporating Chemeca in Melbourne, September 2015.

Nayaka 4.0 is a pressure car. This car consist of a 1 L vessel that lasts until 70 bar, four tires, pressure gauge, globe valve, needle valve, water trap, hose, 16 x 50 mm pneumatic cylinder and mechanical valve. Nayaka 3.0 is designed like oil tank so prevalent its center of gravity.
Figure 1. Nayaka car Oxygen gas as its energy source is obtained from a decomposition reaction of hydrogen peroxide using potassium permanganate. The reaction is observed as follows : H2 O2(l) + KMnO4(s) → KOH(l) + MnO2(s) + H2 O(l) + O2(g)

The reaction reacts for three minutes in the vessel which consists 10% hydrogen peroxide as much as 300 ml and potassium permanganate as much as 0.4 gram. By that composition, the pressure can reach up to 10 bar and be able to move the car as far as 20 meters. The result of reaction is flowed by opening the needle valve with certain scale which was measured by doing trial and error experiment. The flow of the reaction which still consists liquid that contains potassium hydroxide and water passed through a water trap, so that a pure oxygen gas which enters a mechanical valve could be obtained. At this part, the air flow set well thus makes pneumatic cylinder moved by compression and tension which accelerates the car moving. For the stopping mechanism, could be conducted when the stock of oxygen gas runs out in the vessel. The mechanism of car moving could be observed by the following block diagram:
Figure 2. Process flow diagram car move and waste treatment This car is a car that is environmentally friendly because its accompanied by a method of waste processing. The waste of the reaction is collected and processed as on a picture. The result is solid MnO2 that will use back as a catalyst for the next decomposition reaction.
