Introduction Today Ericsson is selling RBS 2000 family that supports the GSM radio technology as well as RBS 3000 family that supports the WCDMA radio technology. Many of you might have heard about another new radio technology called LTE which stands for Long Term Evolution. To support this new radio technology Ericsson is introducing a new base station family known as the RBS 6000. This base station does not only support LTE but beside that also GSM and WCDMA. The RBS 6000 family is what we call a Multi Standard Radio base station and it will in the long run replace the RBS 2000 and 3000 families.
RBS 6000 Overview › Multi standard technologies : GSM/WCDMA/LTE . › Single , Multi or Mixed standard Mode › Output power and carrier flexibility › IP / Microwave / fiber optic transmission › O&M (all standard) via one interface . › Secure site power › Battery Backup

RBS 6000 Modules The radio in the RBS 6000 family consist of 2 modules known as the Radio Unit (RU) and Digital Unit (DU).
The DU provides switshing , Traffic management, timing, basebande processing , and radio interface . The RU receives digital data and converts it to analog signals . It also receives the radio signals and converts these to digital signals .
DU=Digital Unit
RU=Radio Unit
