Study Plan I have completed my undergraduate studies in Civil engineering from “Sir Syed University of Engineering and Technology”, Technology”, Pakistan, in April 2014, with a CGPA of 3.21 out of 4.00. I was an active somehow indulgent student among others during my undergraduate studies, very often involved in many curricular and co-curricular activities. I am attracted to civil engineering engineering because I like the idea of helping to shape the world around me to meet the demands of the future. I hope for a challenging career which I will find personally rewarding and be able to feel that I have given something back to the community. The world is forever growing and evolving, as is the demand for new buildings and good infrastructure. The pressures of population growth and global warming are ever increasing, and civil engineers can help play a major role in designing more efficient structures, as well as planning projects in developing countries. Cities are continuing to expand and develop. Engineering provides the opportunity to shape and manipulate the surrounding environment and inevitably the world in which we live. This has ignited in me a great passion and desire to become a Civil Engineer. Engineering is always changing and developing. I enjoy learning about new advancements and technologies incorporated into design and construction. I very much look forward to an exciting and fulfilling career in Civil Engineering where I can engage in the diversity of engineering. My bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering has made me more aware of what sorts of problems occur in the real world and how these problems are dealt with. My work experience has required me to show good communication skills and leadership. I did my final year project in ‘Analysis and Design of Ground+17 storie s Building using ETABS and SAFE’. SAFE’. The main theme of my project was to encompass the quantitative analysis of structural elements of building i.e. slab, beam and column. I used SAFE to analyze and design the foundation and ETABS for structural analysis of super structural members. Design courses like basic and ‘Advanced Design of Concrete Structures’, ‘Design of Steel Structures’ and ‘Analysis and Design for Wind and Earthquake Effects’ equipped me with adequate tools to carry out Load Resistant factor Design and Laboratory courses helped me consolidate my fundamentals and reinforce theoretical back ground. I have also acquired 1 year valuable experience as Assistant Engineer in RMC Construction Company (Inner Ring Road Project, Multan, Pakistan) . This role Page 1
provided me the opportunity to work proactively within a team as well as gained a good in-depth knowledge of the field.
Study Plan in China : I would like to apply for the Master's Degree in Structural Engineering in China because from my current job experience, past internship and my final year project I came to know the vast practical applications of the Structural engineering, this caught my attention and created a thirst of knowledge in me to study my chosen course. I hope that I can gain more experience in dealing with situations, people, systems and demands which will be of a great help in my future career. Reasons to study in China : To reach a conclusion, studying at a university in China is an opportunity to succeed, to be original, to improve as well as give a new shape to my current way of living. I am certain that I have every necessary skill in order to become a name in the world of high class engineers. The prospect of studying in China excites me, as it would mean learning and more importantly, living in a multi-cultural atmosphere.
