Lesson Plan in Oral Communication in Context
I.
Objectives: 1. identify the various types of speech in different situations 2. describe the various types of speech context

Subject Matter: A. Content Standard: recognizes that communicative competence requires understanding of speech context speech style , speech act and communicative strategy B. Topic: Types of Speech Context C. Materials: laptop, projector, video clips

Strategy: A. Warm Up: Whispering Game The class will be divided into 5 groups. Each group will form a column with their leader in front and will be given a message to whisper to each member. The last person in line will be asked to state the message to the class. Whoever gives the correct message wins. Questions will be asked to process the activity and link it to the lesson. 1. How did you find the activity? 2. What was the main goal of the game? 3. What are your roles in passing the message? 4. Do you think the roles you have played are important? Why? B. Presentation: The teacher will show video clips featuring the various types of speech context and students will be asked to answer the following questions; 1. How many speakers in the first clip? Second? Third? 2. Who are involved in the video clips? 3. How do they deliver the speech?
4. Identify and describe the context/ situation on depicted in each video. (Students will write their answers on the board) 5. Based on your ideas given , what do you think is the speech context is presented in each video clip? C. Application/ Practice: The class will be divided into 5 groups. Each group will be given a table where they are going to fill out the characteristics and examples (events / activities/ instances) of each type of speech context. Types of Speech Context 1. 2. 3.
