SHIP SIMULATOR AND BRIDGE TEAMWORK WITH BRM (MTC / PRC Accredited Course)
COURSE DESCRIPTION This course is patterned after the IMO Model COURSE 1.22 and is essentially practical and consists mainly of a series of exercises performed on the most advanced Transas simulator model equipped with the latest software and seven (7) visuals.
OBJECTIVE The trainees who successfully complete this course will have gained experience in handling ships under various conditions and will make a more effective contribution to the bridge bridge team during during ship maneuvering. maneuvering. In particular, trainees trainees will gain: Familiarization with the use of engines and helm for ship maneuvering; an understanding of the effects on the behavior of the ship of wind, current, shallow water, banks and narrow channels, condition of loading; a greater awareness of the importance of planning a passage or maneuver and the need for an alternative plan and; a greater understanding and awareness of efficient bridge procedures during watchkeeping and ship handling; Awareness and guidance to good operating practices by regular use of sound and proper procedures to ensure the safety of the ship, its personnel, cargo, and protection of the environment.
ENTRY STANDARDS Trainees wishing to enter this course should have a minimum of six months watchkeeping experience as officer in charge of a navigational watch and should also have completed a course of training which meets or exceeds the standard set out in IMO Assembly Assembly Resolution A. A. 438 (XII) Training in Radar Radar observation and plotting (IMO Model COURSE 1.07).

CERTIFICATION A Certificate will be issued to those who have successfully completed this course indicating that the holder has completed a training course for SSBT.
