Republic of the Philippines Department of Education Region 02 Schools Division of Isabela San Mateo North District MAPUROC ELEMENTARY SCHOOL San Mateo September 23, 2016 ACCOMPLISHMENT REPORT NATIONAL CLEAN-UP DRIVE
I. INTRODUCTION:
Republic Act No. 9512 – ENVIRONMENTAL AWARENESS EDUCATION ACT states that the Department of Education (DepEd) shall integrate environmental education in its school curricula at all levels. Environmental education shall encompass environmental concepts and principles, environmental laws, the state of international and local environment, local environmental best practices, the threats of environmental degradation and its impact on human well-being, the responsibility of the citizenry to the environment and the value of conservation, protection and rehabilitation of natural resources and the environment in the context of sustainable development. Thus, the Mapuroc Elementary School strongly adhere to this act for the benefit not only to the cleanliness but also to the safety of the teachers and learners in school especially nowadays that different diseases are becoming uncontrolled caused by mosquito bites. Learners need to engage themselves in the different activities of making their community a favorable place to live in. Children not only need to learn academic subjects but it is also vital to involve themselves in learning to make their community especially in home and in school a safe and clean place to make it more conducive for learning. II. HIGHLIGHTS OF ACCOMPLISHMENTS: 1.
Pupils, teachers, PTA and some barangay officials worked hand-in-hand in proper waste segregation, solid waste management and disposal and school greening program to give emphasis on intensifying environmental sanitation and healthful living.
2.
The cleanup team worked from 8:00 to 12:00 PM last September 16, 2016, picking up everything from used water bottles, plastics to sweeping dried leaves in the masses. Clean-up drive activities also includes pruning of some plants and trees.
3.
Also, to make the school free from dengue diseases and other mosquito bites ailments, the school clean-up drive volunteers discarded stagnant waters from bottles and other suspected water containers where mosquitos can lay eggs.
III. CONCLUSION: Thumbs up for the school volunteers who gave their effort and time heartedly for indulging themselves and giving their time in supporting the annual clean-up drive of the school, the Mapuroc Elementary School. It is also essential for the learners to realize the importance of having a clean and safe environment for them to live freely away from harm and away from diseases. Through this, pupils acquire the habits of making their home, their school and the community where they live in clean. At the end of the day, we come to realize that cleanliness really matters and having a clean and safe environment means keeping ourselves away from harm and making ourselves healthier leading towards a better learning outcome for the learners.
